Guarding Her Assets

Page 4

by Chloe Morgan

“Ace, please,” she whispered.

I massaged her feet before I slid my hands up the backs of her calves and her thighs, all the way to her ass cheeks. The towel fell helplessly off to the side, revealing to me the whole of her nakedness. I bent forward and pressed my lips into the small of her back. She jumped before a sigh fell from her lips. Her legs parted for me and her hips raised, inviting my tongue into places I desperately wanted to be.

I kissed over the globe of her ass and softly down the back of each thigh. She quivered for me, bucking her ass into my lips to try and find more relief for herself.

Then, I slid underneath her and let my hands slide up the backs of her legs.

I was going to feast on her again tonight. Just like she let me feast on her for breakfast.

  Chapter 10

  Dawn

I moaned as he slowly brought my pussy down to his lips. I rolled against him, feeling his tongue slowly slip between my folds. His hands kept massaging me, working and kneading at my ass cheeks and my legs. His tongue slipped over my clit, causing me to jump as my face fell into the pillows of my bed.

“Oh yes, Ace. That’s it. Right there.”

This was the kind of release I needed. Every day, after every stressful event that took place. I was hoping the massage would turn into this. Turn into him devouring me like he had that morning. His tongue was an expert on my body. He traced the outline of my clit before sucking it between his lips. I groaned into the pillow, fisting the sheets as my hips rolled against his lips.

His hands gripped my ass cheeks, parting them as his finger teased my puckered hole.

  “Oh, shit. Oh, shit. Ace, I haven’t—I don’t know—I, uh—oh, fuck!”

He sank the first knuckle of his finger into my asshole, and my world exploded. Every single hair on my body prickled as he sank another finger into my pussy. He crooked it perfectly, stroking that rough patch as my clit throbbed against his tongue. His finger slowly sank deeper into my asshole, pumping and spreading me for the first time.

My legs trembled as he filled me slowly with his digits.

  “Ace!”

He growled into my pussy as he filled me to the brim. He pumped his fingers, the oils slick on our skin as his tongue flicked my clit quickly. My juices trickled onto his lips. I felt them coating his hands as my knees gave out. I collapsed on top of him, practically smothering him as I ground hard against his face.

He didn’t seem to mind, though.

If anything, he grew more frantic, more wild with his actions.

I rocked against him as that spring tightened in my gut. My eyes rolled back, and my toes curled as he drank every drop of my body down. I heard him swallowing, filling his stomach with me. The sounds and the smells were too much for me, and soon my toes curled.

  “Ace! I’m coming! Yes!”

My body locked out, and his finger slipped out of my asshole. I felt him grunting. Groaning. Bucking into the air as the bed moved with our movements. I collapsed on top of him as he sucked my oversensitive clit. I whimpered and jumped with every flick of his tongue, until I heard him growling underneath me.

And seconds later, I felt hot streams of arousal raining down against my ass.

I turned my head, my cheek falling against the pillow. The room tilted as I drooled against the fabric of it. My eyes fell closed, and the only thing I remembered was something soft and warm wiping against my skin.

I woke up that morning to something hard pressed against my back. Something sturdy wrapped around my waist. I shifted around and took in the view of Ace lying next to me, with the birds chirping their soft songs outside.

It startled me at first, seeing him there, still in my bed, clothed in his boxers while I lay there, naked. I liked it, though. Feeling him pull me closer while he slept made my skin crawl in all the best ways. I nestled into him, breathing in his morning scent as I felt his lips pucker against my forehead.

  “Morning,” he said groggily.

He gave me a soft smile, and my heart fluttered in my chest.

“Up for another joint shower?” he asked.

I giggled as a smile crossed my face. His guard was finally down, and he had that boyish, energetic spark in his eye. His smile lit up his face, and I kissed his lips softly just so I could revel in the moment.

  “Maybe tonight,” I whispered.

We slowly made our way out of bed but had to quickly shower and get dressed. We’d spent too much time lying around in bed, and I was going to be late for my day on the Hill. As I walked into the building, I felt reenergized, ready to convince my fellow representatives to vote my way.

But when I opened my office door, I let out a yelp.

  “Oh, my gosh!”

In an instant, Ace’s arms were around me. He pulled me into his body before whipping me around, placing himself between me and my office. He assessed the damage, talking into his walkie talkie, telling someone to get here and get a camera in my office.

Someone had spray-painted slurs on my walls. On my floor. On my windows. Over my desk. Everything in my office was ruined. And after I sent Kennedy home for the day, it dawned on me just how serious this was.

Who in the world would sink so low as to do this to me?

Who had I pissed off that much?

  Chapter 11

  Andrew

I was livid. The things spray-painted all over her office made me bubble over with anger. Bitch. Cock Tease. Bimbo. Hussy. On and on they went, destroying every part of her office. I ordered Stash to keep an eye on her office for the rest of the day. But the confusion in his face matched mine. No one off the damn street could have gotten into the Hill after hours.

Which meant our theory of a disgruntled constituent went flying out the window.

  “Dawn?” I asked softly.

Her eyes were staring at the wall as she sat perched at her aide’s empty desk.

“Dawn, look at me,” I said.

She slowly turned her troubled eyes up to mine, and the look of panic she had seized my gut.

“We can quietly leave. Head back to the safe house while my team gathers evidence,” I said.

She shook her head, almost as if I’d ripped her from a trance.

“No, I can’t do that. I’ve got meetings today and votes to garner. I don’t have time to cower in fear,” she said.

“Your resolve astounds me, Dawn. But this is serious.”

“Yes, and so are the children of this country. I take them seriously, even if no one else will. I’ve got a full schedule to keep. So, you either follow me around, or you don’t.”

I nodded, and she pushed herself off Kennedy’s desk. Stash escorted her into her office quickly so she could gather what she needed for the day. Apparently, she was just going to use Kennedy’s desk. I didn’t like that, her out in the open for everyone to see. I vowed to redouble my efforts to keep her safe and to figure out, even faster, who the hell was intimidating this wondrous woman.

“Ready to go knocking on doors?” Dawn asked.

“Whenever you are, Representative Fielding,” I said, grinning.

She sighed and nodded, and we headed off to her first stop.

It was another whirlwind of a day. We didn’t break for lunch, nor did we break for snacks. I kept pumping water and energy bars into her while we were on the move, with my phone practically attached to my ear. I kept in constant communication with Stash, who was working with the Capitol Hill Police on all angles to figure out who the hell had access to Dawn’s office so late at night. Because we hadn’t left until almost seven o’clock last night.

But the information Stash fed me didn’t do much in the way of narrowing down suspects.

No unknown parties were allowed into the building past normal working hours. Only those who had credentials to work on Capitol Hill could come in and out. Security footage didn’t show any unknown parties in the hallway outside her office, just routine security personnel and cleaning crews. The routines were steady. In the early-morning hours,
there were the usual congressional pages and aides, coming to work and creating relationships with the powerful people around them.

Stash and three other men looked over that footage with a fine-toothed comb, scouring log-ins and check-ins up until this morning backdating all the way through working hours yesterday.

We determined, without a shadow of a doubt, that this was an inside job. Someone who worked on Capitol Hill. Someone who easily had access to this building at all times.

  But who?

  Chapter 12

  Dawn

It had been three days since my office had been spray-painted. The cleaning crews had been quick about cleaning what they could and replacing what they couldn’t. My office looked brand-new, mostly. There was still a faded outline on my bookshelves, but that would come off with a little mahogany sealant and some scrubbing. I couldn’t focus on that, though. The Education and Labor Committee was meeting again this afternoon after our recess.

And I had plans to outline my proposed legislation on higher education funding first.

All of my meetings that week went well. I was pretty sure I had the votes needed to get it past the committee itself. Which meant it would be brought to the House next week, if I could pull this off. However, this meeting was still important, because this committee meeting raised the proposal’s profile, got it on people’s radars. Maybe I could get a media push behind it. Get some national polls done by the larger media syndicates and have the country rallying behind this.

Because that type of pressure always worked with old farts like George White.

I knew the analyses of college affordability like the back of my hand. I could spout off all the research and numbers without even looking down at my paperwork. Which was imperative, because as a woman I’d be judged solely on whether or not I knew my shit. I would summarize the results today in front of the committee and pray those who promised me their vote would be strong enough to stand up to Representative White.

Because I knew my bill addressed a real need we needed to fix. And quickly.

“Okay, Ace? I need you to listen to me,” I said.

  “I’m all ears,” he said.

“I don’t need you hanging around while I’m in session.”

“I can’t let you go in there alone.”

“Your presence will jeopardize all of this. And it’s not like someone is going to attack me on C-SPAN. With cameras around. This will be televised on public television, and the last thing I need are people thinking I’m in danger. Because if they think I’m in danger, they’ll deem my proposal dangerous. And that’ll be that for the children of this country until someone replaces me, too,” I said.

He chuckled. “Well, I’d like to be there. Whether you’re in danger or not. This is an important day for you. And I’d like to support you.”

I was warmed by his words and his encouragement. But that didn’t fix the issue at hand. It was obvious he was my protection. Everyone knew about it now. He couldn’t be seen in there with me. It would destroy everything because perception was everything in politics.

“Please, just… wait outside? Watch from out there?” I asked.

“Whatever you feel you need, I’ll make sure to provide,” Ace said.

His words wrapped around my head, filling me with a passion and a courage I’d never experienced before.

I smiled at him before making my way to the committee floor. I felt the whole of the world watching me as I stepped up to the podium. And from my lips came an impassioned speech regarding the children of this country. How they were our future. How, if we didn’t invest in them, they wouldn’t invest in us. That we could only teach them through actions. Through role-modeling. And if we chose everything else over them, they’d choose everything else over us.

And just as I was about to launch into the numbers, Representative White banged that godforsaken gavel against his fucking table.

“Representative Fielding has agreed to cede the remainder of her time, which means her time is up,” he said.

I paused. “I’ve done no such thing. That comes with formal paperwork. Where is the paperwork that proves this?”

“I had it submitted to me earlier this morning on behalf of your aide,” he said.

“Well, I’d like to see that, please. Because today is my aide’s day off.”

He glared at me as everyone slowly turned their eyes in his direction.

“We will take a quick recess so I can retrieve the paperwork. And if you aren’t satisfied with it, I’ll let you continue,” White said.

“Good. Because that means I can launch right into the numbers and show how this proposal will actually save us money on the educational budget,” I said.

Everyone murmured with shock and awe, and I saw him growing upset with me. He was doing everything he could to slow my momentum, but it wouldn’t work. If he wanted to play dirty, then I would as well.

Which meant dropping a bit of foreshadowing into the research I had done guaranteed that someone would want to override White just to hear me out.

  Chapter 13

  Andrew

I wanted to punch Old Man White in the fucking mouth. I was watching outside on a television screen, listening and grinning as Dawn launched herself into her speech. Holy hell, she was good. She even had my heartstrings strumming right along with her. I agreed with everything she said, everything she embodied. And then, that asshole started playing his little game Dawn accused him of playing in the elevator that day.

I didn’t appreciate him backing her into a corner either.

The doors off to my left opened and out came Representative White. And I couldn’t hold myself back. I walked straight up to the man as he made his way to the water fountain, and I got straight to the point.

“What do you have against helping disadvantaged students afford college?” I asked.

He slowly looked over at me, the water still running as he stayed hunched.

“I didn’t think officers like you were paid to think,” he said.

“Didn’t answer my question, sir,” I said curtly.

He rose up from the fountain, leaning back to keep my eyes in his purview.

“I don’t appreciate uppity women like Fielding. She has no idea how this works. She has no idea the other places we’ll have to pull money from in order to fuel her plan. Our defense budget. Budget cuts for our men and women on Capitol Hill. Your own force will see a loss in numbers because we won’t have money to pay them for the jobs they do. There will be no country for our children to live in if we compromise our security and our safety. Is college for a few kids really worth our collapse?” he asked.

“Did you just say ‘uppity’?” I asked.

“Did you not hear another word after that?”

I barely restrained myself from strangling the man where he stood.

“It’s a shame, really. That you, in your prime, are afraid of losing to a woman. In my line of work, we call that cowardice,” I said.

“Well, in my line of work, we call that nonexistent. Because had you listened to me at all, you would have heard the defense your precious Ms. Fielding won’t let me give because she’s too busy assuming she knows it all,” White said.

I stared that man down as he headed back into the committee chamber. I watched him whisper to one of his aides, and it gave me an idea. I pulled out my phone and snapped a picture of the aides surrounding the man. I caught them all as they looked over at me, and I grinned as I sent the full-faced pictures off to Stash.

“Let me know if any of these people look familiar on that security footage,” I said.

Because now? I knew my gut was right. Just like it had screamed at me while we were in the elevator with that man, it screamed at me now. I knew who was behind the threats against Dawn. We just needed to find the proof.

Stash told me he’d recheck the footage with the faces in mind, and I drew in a deep breath.

I walked into the committee chamber and came up behind
Dawn. I placed my hand onto her shoulder, feeling her jump as I did so. She whipped around to face me, and I dipped my lips to her ear.

“You’re not going to let some old fart steal your thunder, are you?” I whispered.

She grinned and shook her head as I smiled down at her.

  “That’s my girl,” I murmured.

I squeezed her shoulder before walking back out of the room. The doors closed behind me, and I stood off to the side, watching on the television as the committee resumed. I saw Dawn’s spine stiffen on television. Representative White banged his gavel down, bringing the committee back into session.

And automatically, Dawn launched into the numbers.

She rattled them off with an expertise that left me stunned. She attacked White from a different angle, putting some of the blowback onto his shoulders. She wove everything together in a stunning speech that left everyone surrounding White beaming with smiles.

If only Dawn could see how much I beamed with pride as I watched her on that television.

Damn it, that woman was a force to be reckoned with.

  Chapter 14

  Dawn

I felt drained at the end of the committee meeting. But I also felt satisfied. Several of my fellow committee members patted me on the back after my speeches, solidifying for me that I had their votes. It made me feel good. It made me feel accomplished. It made all of this hard work and this harassment worth it. I walked back to my office and fell directly into my chair. Finally, I felt like I could breathe a little bit.

And the smell of sealant wafted up my nose.

I turned my chair around and looked at my bookcases. The faint outline of the red and yellow spray paint was gone. The carpet had been treated. The window had been washed on the inside and the outside. Everything on my desk had been replaced, and the crevices of my computer that had still been marked with paint residue were shining back at me.

“Feel a little more normal now?” Ace asked.

I whipped my head up and watched him lean against my office doorway.
