“The placenta, you have to deliver it too. Come on, three, four pushes and I’ll give you your sweet baby girl!” Jane said softly and soon enough Alice was ready to hug her daughter for the first time in her life.
Jane was all covered in blood, she was shaking and her heart was beating like crazy. Blake didn’t know that bringing life to this world was the one thing that could shake her. She was as happy as never before, she helped Alice deliver a healthy baby and Jane had the little girl in her hands. It was the most exciting moment in Jane’s life, to hold a newborn.
Blake looked at Alice and now she was with a wide smile on her face, there was no sign of pain or any other feeling but pure happiness.
“Let’s get you to daddy!” Jane softly touched the baby’s cheek and sat on the driver’s seat.
Blake drove to the hospital and at the moment the nurses saw the newborn rolled in the jacket they welcomed Alice and her baby in one of the rooms. Alice insisted to visit her husband but the doctors wanted to take care of them first and promised to bring them to Ian as soon as they make the checkup.
Jane climbed the stairs to Ian’s room. Everyone on the hallway were looking at her weirdly, she forgot she was covered in blood. Blake walked in and saw that Valdez was awake, Nick was sitting next to him on the bed, Hunt and Tylor were standing up.
“What happened to you?” asked Hunt when he saw Jane.
“Ian, how are you, man?” Jane ignored Connor’s question and walked to Valdez.
“Fine.” Ian said with a hoarse voice “And you?”
“Are you sure you are okay?” Blake asked one more time.
“Yeah, why? Is there something wrong?” Valdez said worryingly.
“No, it’s great actually.” Jane smiled “You have a beautiful baby girl! Congrats!”
Ian, Nick and Hunt exchanged surprised looks. Tylor froze on the spot.
“Alice…?” Valdez couldn’t speak, he was so emotional, that tears filled his eyes.
“Alice is okay, so is the little princess.” Blake assured him.
Before Jane could explain how it happened, a nurse pushed Alice and the newborn in the room on a wheelchair.
Nick, Hunt, Smith and Jane walked out to leave the family to enjoy this happy moment.
“Where is Gray?” Jane asked.
“With Barlow.” Tylor said “I’m going to visit the others from my team, see you later!” he waved and walked away.
Jane, Nick and Connor waited in silence in front of the room. Soon Ryan joined them but no one told him about the baby. When Alice opened the door and welcomed them back, Gray was stunned. Ian was holding his daughter in his hands with a wide smile.
Alice took the baby from her husband and gave it to Jane. Blake gently hugged the baby and looked at her with a smile.
“Friends, say hello to Emily Jane Valdez!” Ian announced.
“Guys!” Jane looked at him and Alice with a look ‘you-shouldn’t’.
Ryan went next to Blake to see the baby and made a funny grimace. For a moment Jane and Ryan forgot that they were another people in the room, Gray put his hand around Jane’s shoulders and both of them admired Emily.
Unfortunately, that sweet moment was interrupted when Kyle Colling went in the room and Jane and Ryan broke apart awkwardly.
After Collins congratulated the happy family, kissed Jane and calmed down she was okay, Kyle turned to the team with the words “Well, I heard there are people above Morse. Is that true?”
“Yes,” Jane and Ryan said in one voice.
“So what now?” Collins asked.
“We keep digging, we keep going, until we find all of them!” Hunt said.
“What if you can’t? What if they kill you?” Kyle insisted and hugged Jane tightly.
“I will chase them no matter what.” Blake made a step away from Kyle “At the end I will kill them or they will kill me!” she said firmly.
“You mean us!” Gray joined.
“All of us!” Nick confirmed, Hunt and Ian nodded.
“Then the chase is on!” Blake concluded with determination.
