It isa faithful portrayal of the times, and is replete with historicalinformation. The trying experiences through which the little heroinepasses, until she finally becomes one of the great Alfred's family, aremost entertainingly set forth. Nothing short of a careful study of thehistory of the period will give so clear a knowledge of this little knownage as the reading of this book.
