It is not until she goes to live with an old aunt and uncle andis thrown upon her own resources, that she develops a steadier andstronger character. She is a great comfort to the elderly people, and ata time when the whole village is threatened with a flood, she rides downthe valley and warns the people of their danger. She is a very natural,lovable girl, and the story ends all too soon.
