“Pop,” Jett said. “Not in front of the ladies.”

Pop growled and went back to his whiskey.

“Let’s just eat,” Cherry said. “I was going to tell you all I appreciate you being here. And I’m thankful for this meal. And I’m thankful that Aira is with us. And I’m terribly sorry about her house burning down.”

“Your house burned down?” Ryker asked.

  My cheeks burned hot. “Yeah.”

“Oh, dear, I spilled the beans,” Cherry said.

“Cherry, that was a secret,” Wes said.

“No,” I said. “It doesn’t need to be a secret. Who cares, right? It happened. I survived. I’m here now.”

“Damn, Aira, I’m sorry to hear that,” Walker said.

“Here’s to hot food and not burning houses,” Jett said.

I looked around at the table and smiled.

Wes slipped his hand into mine.

“Can we eat now?” Jett asked.

“Let’s eat,” Cherry said. “Fuck it.”

  I laughed.

She looked at me and winked.

  Fuck it.

Wes, Jett, Ryker, and Walker were at the end of the yard having a cigarette.

  Carolyn left to work.

Pop was passed out at the dining table, head back, snoring from the whiskey.

Cherry insisted on cleaning up the entire meal by herself.

That left me with Noelle, alone.

She was staring down into a notebook, scribbling away.

My eyes kept moving from Wes back to Noelle.

The jealousy had quieted down but hadn’t went away.

Okay, fine, they didn’t sleep together. If Wes said that, I believed him. But what about everything else? He had spent his awkward teenage years living next to her. And she was broken enough to want everything right back from him.

I had to stop thinking about it because it started to bother me again.

  “Hey,” I said to Noelle.

  She looked up. “Yeah?”

“All of this… it’s crazy, right?”

  “Completely crazy,” she said. “Why?”

“I just can’t figure it out. What they’re doing. Why they’re doing it. If it’s right, wrong…”

“They care,” Noelle said. “That’s more than I can say about anyone else.”

  “You and Wes are close.”

  “Yeah.”

“He, uh, sort of told me some things.”

  “About?”

“Your life,” I said. “I mean, if that pisses you off…”

  “Nope,” Noelle said.

“I’m really sorry. For what happened.”

“Thanks,” she said. “You know, I’ve always loved him.”

  “Who?”

  “Wes,” Noelle said.

Cue the raging jealousy back to full inferno.

  “Oh?” I asked.

“Yeah. From the second I saw him. I’m so in love with him, Aira. Figured you should know that. No reason to hide it.”

  “Wow,” I said.

“He obviously doesn’t love me the same way,” Noelle said. She shrugged her shoulders. “He never did. Never could. No matter how much he was mad or hurt, it just never…”

Her voice trailed off as she stared at Wes.

I finally reached forward and snapped my fingers. I stood up and looked down at her.

“You realize he’s with me, right?” I asked.

“Of course. He talked about you before. Plenty of times.”

“Good,” I said. “Because he’s mine. All mine.”

  Noelle just stared at me.

I couldn’t tell if she was being a bitch or she was just slow about what I was saying. Or maybe she just didn’t care.

“Sure,” she said. “He’s all yours. Maybe we can tell stories again. I have some that will blow your mind away.”

Before I could demand that Noelle tell me what she meant, Wes was back at the porch with the rest of the guys.

“You ready to leave?” he asked me.

I heard kissing sounds and looked to see Ryker and Walker turned around, their hands around their backs, pretending they were kissing someone.

“Don’t let it get to you,” Jett said as he walked between me and Wes. “That's the only action they’ll ever get.”

  We all said our goodbyes.

Cherry hugged me tight and rocked back and forth.

She made me promise I’d come back soon.

I climbed onto the back of Wes’s motorcycle and he took me home.

When he stopped, I jumped off the motorcycle and threw the helmet at him.

“What the hell?” he called out.

I ran toward the house and Wes charged after me.

He got me by the waist and spun me around. “Aira?”

“Do you love her?” I asked.

  “What?”

“Noelle told me she’s in love with you. And I want to know if you love her too. Because this whole brother sister flirt thing is creepy.”

  “Are you serious right now?”

“Dead serious. I want answers. Right now, Wes. Tell me.”

  “You want the truth?”

  “Yes,” I said.

“You want to know who I’m in love with?”

I swallowed hard and readied myself for the tears.

Wes touched my face. “I’m in love with you, darling.”

  Chapter 22

  Aira

  I didn’t feel stupid.

I didn’t feel anything for a few seconds.

But then Wes kissed me, bringing me back to life.

  He loved me?

I didn’t get a chance to make him say it again because the kissing took full control of everything else in life.

The warm breeze tickled my face as Wes’s kiss had so much intention hidden in it I felt those butterflies again. And just like before, those butterflies were traveling down and turned into something else.

  Ache.

My body actually began to ache.

My knees quivered and knocked together as a warm sensation tingled at my inner thighs and crept up my legs.

I broke the kiss and looked down, gasping for a breath.

Wes didn’t speak a word as he kept his body near mine. For some reason I looked at our shoes. Wes always wore his black boots. Not work boots. But boots maybe for motorcycle riding? I didn’t know. And then there were my shoes. Once white but now dirty. And my feet were a quarter of the size of his.

  And that was it.

That was the moment I knew.

I slowly lifted my gaze and looked into his eyes.

  I wanted him.

  I needed him.

  It was time for him.

I grabbed his hand with my hand already shaking.

My teeth chattered for a second but I took a breath.

  “Aira…”

  “Shut up,” I said.

I turned and started to walk, taking Wes with me.

  I couldn’t wait any longer.

He was my everything and he was going to be my first.

  * * *

I told myself it was impossible. That nothing could be better than the build up. The way my nerves jumped as I hurried through the house to my bedroom. Hearing the sound of the door shutting and locking; just in case. The second I turned around Wes was there. It was more than obvious he knew what he was doing and that this was our moment.

His hands lifted my shirt without even so much as another kiss.

I had to steady myself so I could do the same to him.

The back of my throat made this sound at the sight of Wes’s bare chest and shoulders. And his stomach.

He took a step back and let me do what I wanted to him.

My hands touched the top of his jeans, knowing that with just the twist of a button…

I bit my lip and looked into his eyes.

He touched my shoulders and slid his fingertips down the back of my arms. There wasn’t an ou
nce of hesitation or doubt from him. In silence, he was still commanding. Taking me somewhere.

As his hands moved to the middle of my back, he unclasped my bra. My arms jumped, wanting to press together and keep myself hidden. But, to myself, I slowly shook my head. This was Wes. This was the one I had been dreaming about for so long. In some pathetic and cliche way I had been saving myself for him.

I lowered my arms and felt my bra slide down my body to the floor.

“Oh, darling, you are so perfect,” Wes’s rough voice whispered.

His hands opened wide to my back as he came forward to kiss me.

It was a short lived kiss as he broke away and began to make a line down my neck.

He pressed against me and took me down to the bed.

Our bodies together but only for a few seconds.

Wes kissed down to my chest as I arched my head back and struggled to find a full breath.

His mouth moved over my right breast and I had my hands sort of in the air, unsure what to do. I thought about grabbing the sheets. Or grabbing his hair.

  But I was frozen.

I looked down just in time to see him pull away from my chest.

His left hand quickly moved over my right breast, cupping me hard and with meaning. I thrust my chest at him and opened my mouth to say something sexy. But that’s when he kissed below my chest. Down to my belly. I lost all words again as Wes helped himself down to the top of my shorts. That’s where he brought his hands together and opened my shorts.

He looked up at me with a grin. A gaze that would make the devil himself run away.

My toes curled tight, hurting, as my body ached for everything Wes wanted to do.

He slipped his fingers around the top of my shorts and pulled.

I nodded and bit my lip, putting my head to the bed again.

I let out a shaky breath and felt him taking the rest of my clothes off.

Then came more of his deadly kisses. Moving back up my body, leaving my eyes going wide. I thought for a moment he was going to do something else to me.

  “Wes,” I whispered.

I felt his warm breath over my left breast a moment before he tasted it again.

I groaned and shut my eyes, so ready for him.

When his lips crashed to mine again, I threw my arms around him and held him tight. We kissed as he wiggled, forcing a hand between us so he could take off his jeans. The way he moved was flirty and sexy at the same time.

He took his lips from mine and moved away from me, giving me full sight of his body. And full sight meant seeing everything. I bit my lip again. My eyes fluttered, unsure what to look at. His shoulders were round and strong, just like the cut of muscles running down his arms. His chest was broad and tanned by the beach sun. The muscles of his stomach gave way to where his real body began. He was ready. Thick and full, leaving me wondering what it was going to feel like.

Wes dug into the pocket of his jeans and I realized how prepared he was.

I wondered if he carried around protection all the time or if he did it because of me. Knowing that eventually our wild emotions were going to get the best of us.

My mind raced with his words telling me he loved me.

Once Wes tossed the wrapper aside, he moved to the bed again, his right hand between us as he readied himself for me.

He hovered over me, his hands flat to the bed.

  I stared up at him.

My window was open, and the rushing sound of the beach breeze along with the waves made by my body, making me shiver even more. This moment was perfect. Beyond perfect.

It was just about dark outside. We were alone.

This was what I wanted. Finally.

As his lips touched mine again, I felt him pressing between my legs. I sucked in a breath and waited for more.

Wes gently pushed forward, opening me to accommodate himself. That first rush of pressure was enough to make me gasp. Everything tingled with excitement, which was good, because there was a rush of an ache but it only lasted a second or two. And each time Wes moved more, that ache would try to return only to be replaced by a sense of need.

When I finally could look down, I realized it was happening. Or it had happened.

  Wes… was… inside… me…

Wes put his forehead to mine and forced my head back.

He kissed me but with more force.

He pulled himself back which sent a whole new rush of pleasure throughout my body. Then he came forward again. Moving slowly and gently, showing me what it was like and what it was going to feel like.

I started to rock my hips with him, my breaths impossible to keep track of. It felt really good. I had no idea it would actually feel as good as it did.

Wes moved faster. I tried to keep pace with him. His strong and powerful body offered its force, but never more than I wanted or could handle. I didn’t understand how he knew what to do the way he did. It was almost unfair. Except that I was the one getting the benefit of it.

When my own pleasure took over and I realized I was going to finish, I kissed so hard at Wes I bit his bottom lip. He growled and kissed me back just as hard. So I bit at his bottom lip again, this time holding it. Our eyes met and he grinned. I wanted to grin back but I couldn’t. I pulled away from his lip and my mouth fell open as the biggest wave of the early evening happened. And believe me, it wasn’t down at the ocean.

I grabbed the back of his arms, feeling the bulge of his muscles.

I curled forward, putting my chin to my own chest as though I could look down and see my orgasm. Like it was some little character that was going to appear and do a dance on my lower belly.

  No way.

  This was all inside me.

  And Wes knew it.

And he didn’t stop moving either.

  Which was perfect.

  Ohmygod, it’s fucking perfect…

A voice in my head screamed as between my legs the butterflies, crashing waves, and tingling all came together like a car crash.

I hooked my ankles around Wes and let out a groan as the feeling happened for good.

“Yes, darling, let go,” Wes whispered as he put his mouth to my ear. “I promise I’ll always take care of you.”

My nails dug at the back of his arms and climbed up until I found his back.

  There I held tight.

  My love, my protector.

Wes put his forehead to mine again and we just stared into each other’s eyes.

My toes curled tight, knowing what I just felt was only the beginning.

  And ohmygod was I right.

  * * *

Wes had his body against mine as I slowly shut my eyes. I opened them a few times just to see our hands. Which was maybe a little strange considering we weren’t wearing any clothes. There was so much more to look at to be honest. But our hands… his big, strong hand covering mine, fingers interlocked. Right over my heart too. I never thought I could feel comfortable so exposed to someone.

I licked my lips and took another shaky breath.

The night had started when the sun was just going down.

  Now it was after midnight.

I’m pretty sure the only reason we stopped was because Wes didn’t bring enough protection. For me, I had been waiting a long time for this to happen. Whether it was with him or with someone else, it had been building. So when Wes broke the threshold, he unleashed something inside me.

  I wanted more.

It was like an instant addiction.

It made me realize what everyone had been talking about for so long.

But I was happy it didn’t happen with anyone else. Whether it was with what I thought was a serious boyfriend or just happened at a party in a bedroom. I could forever live my life knowing that Wes was my first time.

Wes kissed my shoulder and I let out a sigh.

  “You okay, darling?” he whispered.

“Perfect. I’m just a little pissed that Julia comes home tomorrow.”

  “Why?

“I want to do this forever,” I said and laughed.

I thrust my butt back at Wes and he groaned.

“Fuck, Aira,” he said. “Don’t even…”

  “What?”

I turned my head and looked at him.

His eyes were dark and serious.

  “What, Wes?” I asked again.

“I’ll get my own place. For us.”

  “What?”

“I’m serious. I’ve been working my ass off at the shop since I was a kid, Aira. Pop had me sweeping the floor when I was five years old. And I’ve worked and saved and helped grow that damn business. I’m entitled to a lot…”

  “So it’s true?”

  “What is?” he asked.

I smiled. “That you are the richest guy in HCH?”

  “Does that turn you on?”

“Not as much as this,” I said as I pressed my butt against him again.

Wes quickly grabbed my hip and curled his lip. “You keep that up, Aira, and we’re in trouble. I’ll take you again and I don’t have protection.”

For some reason that really turned me on.

Ohgod, what has Wes done to me? All rational thinking was out the fucking window because of him…

He leaned down and kissed me. “I swear on it, darling, I will get us a place. Right on the fucking beach too. We can get a little cottage near the north shore. It’s touristy but quiet in the off season. Sip coffee on our deck and you could run on the beach. We could flirt and fuck right there in the ocean.”

I shut my eyes and groaned. “That sounds perfect.”

  “Just give me the word…”

“I think I’ve given you enough for one night,” I said.

Wes smiled and it was such a genuine smile my heart exploded even more, if that were possible.

I faced forward again and took another deep breath.

Wes’s hand crept up my body, up my back to my shoulder. Then to the back of my neck. He gently scratched, sending goosebumps head to toe.

“Darling, there’s something I have to ask you,” he whispered.

  “Okay.”

  “The cutting thing…”

My mouth went dry. “You want to know how it started.”

“Yeah. I can’t imagine someone as beautiful as you doing that.”

“It’s not about good looks, Wes.”
