by Erica Nyden

Olivia slowed her pace and admired the small outbuilding. Its exterior walls were white as clouds, its shutters sky blue. Through the warped windowpanes, red curtains blushed as brightly as masses of Flanders Fields poppies. Inside that little building were the most important people in her life.   Acknowledgments

This book wouldn’t be possible without the patience and support of my friends and family.

Thank you, Lisa, my editor, coach, and teacher for helping me problem solve in ways that have taught me so much. Thank you, Annemeike, for your flair for design and your endless patience with my sometimes repetitive questions. Thank you, Martha, for your impeccable eye and for your guidance as I approached publication.

Thank you, Marie, for being the first person to read the original manuscript and for your suggestions early on. A special thanks to Mackenzie, who’s read every version of every manuscript, and there were many. I am forever grateful for your honesty and for caring about these characters as much as I do.

THANK YOU to everyone who read the manuscript as it developed over the years. I appreciate your feedback and continued support in this very long process.

  About the Author

Erica Nyden first discovered the enchanting landscape of Cornwall in Daphne DuMaurier novels when she was fourteen years old. An avid reader of books that bring to life the struggles of everyday people during extraordinary times, she decided to write her own after visiting Cornwall’s windswept coastline—the perfect setting for her debut historical romance novel, Soldier On.
