  I feel unbelievably lucky to have the constant support, encouragement, and love of my husband, Giles, and my wonderful children, Michael, Joey, Linda, Owen and Juliet.

  My sisters, Melissa and Melanie, my brother-in-law, Leopoldo, and my in-laws, David and Tessa, make my life infinitely better through their ongoing encouragement.

  I couldn’t dream up or write a better family in any book.

  As I was writing this book I kept remembering how much my father enjoyed reading near the end of his life. Every time I saw him, he would have a book in his hand or mention a book he was reading. I realize now that his appreciation for a good story, and the pleasure books brought him during difficult times, inspire me to write.

  And always, I know the origin of everything I am, and everything I write, starts with my mother. She taught me to love books, and for that I’ll always be grateful.

  Melinda Woodhall is the author of the page-turning Mercy Harbor Thriller series. After leaving a career in corporate software sales to focus on writing, Melinda now spends her time writing romantic thrillers and police procedurals. She also writes women’s contemporary fiction as M.M. Arvin.

  When she’s not writing, Melinda can be found reading, gardening, chauffeuring her children around town and updating her vegetarian lifestyle website.
