The Teacher (Amish Country Brides) Page 13

by J. E. B. Spredemann

Wow, what a difficult subject to tackle. Our society has changed so much in the last few decades. Sometimes, it is hard to know what to do or where to stand, especially when cultural norms conflict with our conscience.

Things that the majority of society once felt were wrong are now labeled right. If you stand for the Truth, persecution is almost a guarantee. What’s a Christian to do?

Let me just say that God and His Word are unchanging.

God’s Word says in Isaiah 5:20, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

As the world grows darker, we must shine brighter. We must not compromise. We know Who wins the battle in the end.

In light of this book’s subject, I’d like to recommend a resource that I have found valuable. It’s a book by Joe Dallas called When Homosexuality Hits Home (What to do when a loved one says, “I’m gay”). The author, Joe Dallas, has been on both sides of the issue in a very real way. He tackles issues/circumstances that will help every Christian, I believe.

I also encourage you to read the book of Romans (Holy Bible, KJV), as it is, as Sammy said, “Chock-full of gut stuff.”

Remember above all, God is love. He accepts us just the way we are, but He loves us too much to leave us that way. Do you recall what Jesus said to the woman caught in adultery? He didn’t condone her sin, but demonstrated what love looks like. He said, “Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”

Let’s stand firm in these last days.

I’ll leave you with this verse from First Corinthians 15:58. “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

  Blessings in Christ,

  The Widower (Amish Country Brides)

Emily Miller loves tending her garden and roadside stand, but she admits her love life is dull. While she’s ridden home from singings with several young men from her community, none of them fulfills the image her mind’s eye conjures up. She wants a man who is not only kind and hardworking, but responsible and loves children. So, when shy widower Titus Troyer shows up at her roadside stand with his adorable kinner, something tugs at her heart.

Titus Troyer made a fool out of himself when he prematurely asked Martha Miller to marry him and attempted a courtship with her, and he doesn’t intend to ever repeat that mistake. But when vibrant Emily Miller, Martha’s younger sister, meets his eye at her family’s roadside stand, he can’t deny his attraction. But would a pretty, and very available, young woman like Emily even give a man like him a second thought? More importantly, can he summon the courage to find out?

A sweet love story about finding love when you least expect it.
