In Pescatil they’d need to find transportation to their destination, the town of Hillcross, home of the shrine of Lady Kyla.

  A NOTE TO MY READERS

  Dear Readers:

Thank you for reading this book. I hope you’ve enjoyed it, and if you have, I would greatly appreciate your leaving a candid review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. In fact, even if you did not enjoy the book, I would appreciate a review. Explain why you did not enjoy it, what you feel its weaknesses are. I learn from such reviews and can try to do better on future books. A review doesn’t need to be overly analytical or deeply philosophical. Just give your honest opinion.

I want to thank the loyal readers who volunteered to read this book when it was still in manuscript form and to give their honest opinions of it. Their advice and the errors they caught were tremendously helpful. These “beta readers” made this a better book. Thank you, Glenn Erickson, Joyce Levesque, Lizzy Pederson, and Heather Dewey Pettet, for your invaluable input.

I also hope that this novel may make my readers aware of a sad truth: Although this is a fantasy novel set in an imaginary world, human trafficking and exploitation of children are very much realities in our world. We may not call those victims slaves, but they are in fact enslaved just as the orphans in my novel were, and we need to support all efforts to end this horrendous trade in human lives.

If you have read this book without having read other volumes in the series, you can find the other volumes on Amazon. For the paperback series, click here. For the Amazon series page for e-books, click here
