It had already been more than ten days since the end of the Divine Trials. The Treasure Space had just declared the results and they immediately brought smiles to the faces of all the participants, including the ones who didn’t get a good rank. Nero and Rudolf had also declared that all participants would receive a Heavenly Treasure that was suitable for them irrespective of their rank. This had been decided by Herman and Heron to make up for the increase in the difficulty of the Divine Trials without any prior warning. This made all their family members equally delighted.

Those who’d secured a rank within the top hundred of the Trials were also eligible for the previously declared reward of a Heavenly Treasure from their respective family clans. So, the ones who’d secured a ranking within the top hundred would be getting two Heavenly Treasures, while the rest would be getting a single one.

Ryan’s rank in the Divine Trials was one hundred eighty which was extremely good considering his age and Cultivation Level. His rank made him eligible to be nurtured by both his family clans for the next five years. This immediately brought smiles to the faces of him and his entire family and a feast was declared in celebration. The fact that Oscar, Emilia and the rest were so happy for his sake made Ryan extremely happy. He couldn’t help but once again thanking the Heavens for giving him a family in this life.

Since Ryan belonged to both family clans, he was rewarded by both of them separately. He was given Berserk Mortal Grade Earth Poison by the Heaven Sundering Family Clan and Fire Earth Poison by the Eternity Family Clan. So, Ryan ended up getting two rewards just like the participants who’d secured a ranking in the top one hundred. Many participants wanted to protest about this, especially the ones who hadn’t got a piece of Dark Star Ore from him but they shelved that idea after being scolded by their elders. The elders understood Ryan’s potential to become the top doctor of both family clans in the future, so it was natural that they would behave like that.

These two Mortal Grade Earth Poisons were slightly weaker than the Tears of Angel Poison that Dargar had previously devoured. As a result, they were more or less useless to him as Dargar’s toxicity wouldn’t increase after devouring them, but he didn’t mind as he understood the intentions of the higher-ups of both family clans. Since he’d shown such high resistance towards Poison Attribute in the Divine Trials, they wanted Ryan to take maximum advantage of that. If he were to complain about the rewards, he would have to answer some questions. However, he had no such intentions, since he had no idea how everyone would react if they were to know that Dargar had previously devoured Tears of Angel Poison.

However, the festive atmosphere created in both the Heaven Sundering Family Clan and the Eternity Family Clan after that declaration of the results was replaced by a tense atmosphere after a few days.

The reason for this was because the Calamity Sect had made some extremely dangerous maneuvers against the Heaven Sundering and Eternity Family Clans in the preceding few days. These maneuvers had increased the troubles for both clans in one way or other, as well as threaten their existence.

The Calamity Sect had created an alliance, the Star Alliance, against them. The Calamity Sect had been easily able to convince some of the factions that had enmity with both the Heaven Sundering Family Clan and the Eternity Family Clan to join the Star Alliance. The factions that had joined the Star Alliance also had their Main branches in the Divine Universe just like the Calamity Sect.

A number of these factions had age-old enmities towards the Heaven Sundering Family Clan and the Eternity Family Clan. Since the Grandura branches of those factions had previously received news from their Main branches about the predicament of the Main branches of Heaven Sundering Family Clan and Eternity Family Clan, they felt they could clear their blood-feud with both clans to a certain extent by destroying their Grandura branches after joining the Star Alliance. Those Main branches were also emboldened as they knew that the Silver Oak Sect was actively searching for Herman and company after their escape from Radiant Divine World. This made them certain that Herman and the rest couldn’t threaten them in their current situation in any manner at all.

All this clearly increased the pressure on the members of the Upper echelons of the Grandura branches of both family clans, as they knew that this current situation could easily deteriorate into all-out war.

An all-out war was something they wanted to avoid currently as that would lead to the involvement of their Main branches. However, their Main branches had just survived complete annihilation at the hands of Nebula Sect, so they wanted to avoid involving them. This fact increased the pressure on the Upper echelons of the Grandura branches of both family clans by multiple times.

The Calamity Sect didn’t stop at just creating the Star Alliance. It and the other factions in the Star Alliance had also started to actively compete with Heaven Sundering Family Clan and Eternity Family Clan for everything – right from Heavenly Treasures being sold in the auctions houses around Grandura to Treasure Lands. This had resulted in both sides exchanging blows on numerous occasions, which had resulted in the deaths of people on both sides. This, of course, had created more and more enmity and a clash occurred every time opposing members came face-to-face anywhere.

Sheldon and his four companions wanted to kill their way into the Grandura branch of the Calamity Sect but decided against it, as they didn’t want to create any more trouble for the Main branches of both family clans. They decided to first contact Herman and Heron before making any move, unlike previously when they’d killed three members of the Main branch of the Calamity Sect. They sent a Mental-message transmission to both Herman and Heron informing them of the situation involving the Grandura branches of both the family clans and then could only wait until they got a response. In the meantime, they asked Nero and Rudolf to prepare for a full-scale war with Star Alliance.

Rudolf asked all the members of the Eternity Family Clan that were still present in Heavenly City to return to the Eternity Family Clan soon afterwards, because of the command to prepare for full-scale war with Star Alliance.

Full-scale war preparation required all members of the Senior generation of both family clans, including those in the Mortal Realm, to participate in war-drills in their respective clans. Oscar, Julia and the rest of the members from Ryan’s paternal family had no choice but to return to the Eternity Family Clan following Rudolf’s order.

Ryan was a little sad to part with his paternal family members, but he got over it quite quickly as he knew that the separation was temporary. He had the option of tagging along with Oscar and company to Eternity Family Clan but decided against that since he could execute his plans more freely by staying in the Heaven Sundering Family Clan.

There was another reason he decided to stay behind in the Heaven Sundering Family Clan too. He wanted to increase his personal strength before entering the newly found Legacy Land at the bottom of the dried-up Luminous Lake. That newly-found Legacy Land was currently the hottest topic around Grandura and it was popularly called the Ancient Legacy Land.

  Ryan knew that it wo
uld be very odd indeed, if the youngsters from the Calamity Sect and the other Star Alliance factions didn’t behave like savage beasts and try to kill him and others from his family clans once they were inside the Ancient Legacy Land, given the current war-like situation between the two sides. He had to increase his personal strength, even though he knew that the aces up his sleeve could easily deal with them. He preferred not to have to use them if possible, as that could create a lot of trouble for him later, if by any chance a participant who saw him using them, lived to tell the tale after coming out of the Legacy Land.

Ryan decided to start by increasing his comprehension of Sword-intent. He knew that his combat prowess would go up exponentially, if he was able to comprehend the First realm of Sword-intent. So, he made achieving that his target before the opening of the Ancient Legacy Land in a few months. He knew that he could ask for help from the Ancestor Level Martial Artists that comprehended Sword-intent, if he encountered any kind of trouble in the process. It was natural that he would stay back in the Heaven Sundering Family Clan instead of tagging along with Oscar and company to the Eternity Family Clan.

It was early in the morning and Ryan was heading towards the Living room of the Estate, as he could sense his Grandma Alexis there. Emilia and Blasius were currently in respective Closed-door Cultivation sessions. He still had about six months before the Ancient Legacy Land opened.

Ryan was visiting Alexis as he wanted to know if there was anything like a Sword Pavilion in the Heaven Sundering Family Clan. He had spent about ten days trying to comprehend Sword-intent in his Cultivation chamber, but his gains were very much less than when he’d comprehended Sword-intent in the Cultivation chamber of the Sword Pavilion. He only had about six months before the Ancient Legacy Land opened and he wished to use the time as efficiently as possible.

He soon reached the Living room and entered. He saw Alexis looking at a sword in her hand with rapt attention while seated in an armchair. To be precise, she was checking the blade of the sword for any flaws. Blasius was a Weapon Smith by profession and created a number of weapons every year, which were mostly purchased by the members of both family clans. Alexis helped him by checking the weapons he created for any flaws.

Alexis was so focused on her work that she didn’t notice Ryan until he was standing right in front of her.

“Oh! Sorry! I didn’t notice you!” Alexis said in a startled manner, as she placed the sword on a small table to the side of her armchair.

“Why did you exit your Cultivation chamber so soon? Are you facing some trouble in your cultivation?” Alexis asked in worried tone.

“No, nothing like that. I just wanted to know if there is any place to comprehend Sword-intent within the Heaven Sundering Family Clan,” Ryan said with a bright smile. His smile and words immediately brought relief to Alexis.

“There is! It is called Sword Tower and it’s located in the Ancestral Land of the Heaven Sundering Family Clan,” Alexis said.

“Can I go there and train?” Ryan asked eagerly.

“You can. I’ll take you there personally,” Alexis said with a smile, as she got up from the armchair and headed for the entrance of the estate with Ryan following behind her.

Ryan and Alexis took off into the sky right after coming out of the estate and headed straight towards the Sword Tower. It came into their view after they’d flown for about an hour after entering the Ancestral Land of the Heaven Sundering Family Clan. Ryan couldn’t help but marvel at its sight.

The Sword Tower was like a Divine sword imbedded into the ground and it gave off a very powerful and oppressive aura that could be felt from quite a distance. The entire area around the Sword Tower was barren for a few kilometers, unlike the other parts of the Ancestral Land that were covered in thick vegetation and extremely pure Elemental Energy. There was also no other building or structure in that barren region.

Ryan and Alexis were covered with mysterious white light the moment they flew over the barren land around the Sword Tower. This energy belonged to a middle-aged man hovering in a cross-legged position above the Sword Tower. He had an amicable smile on his face as he looked at Ryan and Alexis, who gently bowed in his direction before flying towards the gate of the Sword Tower. They had pale expressions as they neared the gate of the Sword Tower, as they felt a little uncomfortable even with the middle-aged man protecting them.

Ryan finally understood the reason the region around the Sword Tower was barren. The Sword aura released by the Sword Tower was strong enough to rip apart any being with a Cultivation Level below the Immortal King Realm.

Ryan and Alexis descended in front of the Sword Tower’s gate and entered without wasting time. The mysterious white light protecting them also disappeared the moment they entered the Sword Tower. Alexis and Ryan couldn’t help but sigh with relief as the inside of the Sword Tower lacked its oppressive aura. They went to the Reception area of the Sword Tower, which was being cared for by a middle-aged woman to rent a Cultivation chamber for Ryan.

Alexis and Ryan quickly gave her a slight bow as she was an Ancestor Level Martial Artist and she gave them a gentle smile. The Sword Tower is an important building for the Heaven Sundering Family Clan, so it is under the care of an Ancestor Level Martial Artist at all times.

“Ancestor, my grandson wishes to comprehend Sword-intent so we would like to rent a Cultivation chamber,” Alexis asked with an expectant expression. The middle-aged woman looked at Ryan for a brief second before a smile appeared on her face. She was also from the Fifth branch of the Heaven Sundering Family Clan and had quite a high status within the clan’s Grandura branch. She was popularly known as Sword Saintess and her comprehension of Sword-intent was highest amongst all the members of the Heaven Sundering and Eternity Family Clans.

“You came on time. There is only one room available. Albus, take Ryan to the empty Cultivation chamber,” the middle-aged woman said as a hunch-backed man appeared out of nowhere behind Alexis and Ryan.

“Follow me,” Albus said in an emotionless voice. Ryan nodded his head, as he looked at Alexis.

“I can’t come with you as I lack a Sword Life Weapon,” Alexis said as she patted Ryan’s head following which he left with Albus via a staircase that was on the right-hand side of the Reception area and went to the upper floors of the Sword Tower.

Alexis and the middle-aged woman chatted for some time following which Alexis left for the estate, as there was no use in staying there anymore.

Albus led Ryan to the Cultivation chamber. Ryan didn’t waste any time and directly entered to begin his training, after which Albus returned to the Reception area.

All the Cultivation chambers of the Sword Tower are Spatial Cultivation chambers, so they are all way bigger inside than they look from the outside. Ryan’s Cultivation chamber in the Sword Tower looked no different from the Cultivation chambers in Alexis and Blasius’s estate, but its walls, floor and the ceiling were imbued with Sword-intent that was far denser than in the Sword Pavilion of the Divine Martial Sect. He couldn’t help but be happy, as he knew that his comprehension of Sword-intent would increase exponentially there. The Cultivation chamber also had puppets and targets for training purposes.

Ryan sealed the Cultivation chamber. He then took Death Sword out from his Soul World and walked to the center of the Cultivation chamber and started to practice the First slash of Heaven Sundering Sword Martial Skill.

  --------------------------x--------------------------

Meanwhile, the members of the Upper echelons of the Grandura branches of the Heaven Sundering Family Clan and the Eternity Family Clan were in a dilemma about whether they should send youngsters from their family clans to the Ancient Legacy Land. They had the same concerns as Ryan about the youngsters from the Calamity Sect and other factions that were part of Star Alliance targeting their youngsters. They had even contacted some of the other factions with which they’d had friendly ties, but their responses were vague. It was clear that no one wanted to oppose t
he Star Alliance by forming an alliance of any kind with them, given that the statuses of their Main branches were still unclear. The youngsters of both family clans could only depend on each other once they were inside the Ancient Legacy Land.

They also knew that if they didn’t allow youngsters from their family clans to participate, those youngsters would be weaker in comparison to the ones from the other factions that found opportunities inside the Ancient Legacy Land. They were certain that the Ancient Legacy Land would have numerous Heavenly Treasures that could help Martial Artists to unseal Innate Abilities of their Martial Spirits, however in the end, they were unable to decide, so the matter was taken to Sheldon and his four companions.

“We will only send those kids that have the ability to deal with multiple opponents without any problem. Inform every kid that has registered with the Law Enforcement Department to enter the Ancient Legacy Land that there will be a test: they will have to fight ten Mortal Sage Realm Elemental Beasts simultaneously. The ones that defeat all ten Elemental Beasts will be allowed to enter the Ancient Legacy Land. There is no point in sending the rest, as that would tantamount to sending them to their graves,” Sheldon declared after discussing the matter thoroughly with Danr, Brian, Cenric and Hague.

All the members of the Upper echelons of the Grandura branches of both family clans also felt that this was the best solution. No one knew how the Ancient Legacy Land would test the youngsters that entered it, which meant there was high possibility that each of them would have to move around solo inside.

All Legacy Lands contain a small world which has various kinds of terrifying creatures living in it. The Cultivation Levels of those creatures are not at all suppressed by the Legacy Land, unlike what happens in a Treasure Space. Legacy Lands provide a common objective for all the youngsters entering them and the ones that are able to meet the objective are rewarded handsomely in the form of Martial Skills, Heavenly Treasures and so on.

The news about the test spread at an alarming rate in both family clans. The ones with a Cultivation Level of Late Mortal Emperor Realm and above started to train for the upcoming test. Many initially criticized the test set by Sheldon and his companions as being too strict, but on careful thought they realized its merits.
