Dear Diary, I Have A Mate
Page 10
“Come on help a brother out.”
“I don't want to get you in trouble but I'm not going in.” I shrugged.
He looked uneasy and I think he was about to do something he didn't want to.
“I'm sorry Aria, you have to,” he whispered.
“No.” I protested.
Then he threw me over his shoulder and carried me inside. I didn't fight it because I knew Carter already felt bad.
He set me down and I looked up at him.
“You were only doing your job,” I said, walking upstairs. I walked into the room across from Ty's. I liked the purple walls. I shut the door and locked it.
I then sat on my bed.
Dead.
How can my dad be dead? I mean it seems so weird.
I can't say I'm going to miss him, but I can't say I'm not sad. I mean my father deserved a lot of things but death?
I know I should be happy his sorry ass is rotting in hell; however, I feel conflicted. No matter how many times he hurt me he was my dad.
There was a knock on my door.
“What?”
“Aria, open up.”
“I don't want to see you.”
“Aria,” he pleaded.
“No.”
“Arrabella.” I said nothing back I just sat there staring at the door.
“Arrabella?”
“Arrabella James Middleton,” he tried.
Then it was silent. Then I heard him again; he was unlocking the door. The door opened and he set the key on the dresser and walked over to me.
“Do you want to tell me what's really going on?”
“You said he died a week ago right?” I
“Yes last Sunday.”
“Ten years ago on that day was the day my mother left for rehab.”
“Then it got me thinking, what else are you keeping from me? Why can’t I see the house? But what really gets me is how you think you can control me. Then what really tops it all off is how you could order Carter to make sure I got inside so that you wouldn't have to seem like the bad guy.”
“First Ar, I didn't tell you because you were doing so good, then I got Carter to go get you because I didn't want to hurt you. I know you don't like it when I get mad so I walked away.”
“I know Ty but you can't make those decisions for me.”
“I know, I'm sorry. I just want to protect you and sometimes I go overboard.”
“So why can't I see the house?”
“The house burned down Aria. Your dad set it on fire.”
“What?” I asked. Did I just hear him correctly?
“I'm really sorry Aria.”
“Yeah,” I said because I really didn't know what to say.
“Are you okay?”
“It just doesn't seem real.” I sighed.
“I know baby,” he replied, pulling me onto his lap.
“I don't even know how I got to his point,” I sighed.
“What point is that?”
“Where I have someone as amazing as you to talk to, actually talk.” I smiled, looking up at him.
“I love you Aria.” He grinned.
“I love you too Ty.” I beamed.
We sat like that for a while and I felt myself slowly drifting away.
Chapter 18
Dear Diary,
My father is dead.
He burned our house down.
I don't know how to feel, numb?
I know I love Tyson Benson.
I know things are getting better.
Mission accomplished.
~Aria
I woke up in Ty's arms. We were at the bottom of his bed curled up in a ball. I silently chuckled and then looked at the clock. It was already four in the afternoon.
I untangled myself from Ty and then crept out the door. I walked downstairs to find Carter watching some weird movie and of course eating pizza.
He looked over and smiled when he saw me.
“Hey Carter.” I smiled.
“Hey Aria.”
“I just wanted to make sure we're cool.”.
He looked relieved as he nodded his head.
“We're cool as ice.” He smiled, his fist pounding my knuckles.
I laughed.
“Okay good, sorry you were put in that position.”
“Oh trust me it will happen again.”
“Looking forward to it.”
“Looking forward to what?” I heard Ty ask from behind me.
I turned around.
“Sleeping beauty awakens!” I announced, running over to him and hugging him.
“Are you going to answer my question?” He chuckled, hugging me back.
“The next time you're being a dick,” Carter called from the couch.
I laughed.
“Oh you find that funny?” Ty asked.
I nodded against his chest. He then lifted me up so I was eye level with him.
“Please don't drop me.”
“Please have you seen these guns?” He smirked.
“Yes, so again I say please don't drop me.” I smirked back.
I'm pretty sure the spitting sound was Carter spitting out his pizza. I could hear him choking and laughing at the same time.
“Is that so?”
“Indeed.” I smiled sweetly.
He then lifted me up over his head and placed me on his shoulders.
“TY!” I squealed.
“Tell me you love me.”
“I love you!”
“Who's the strongest person alive?”
“Um Taylor Lautner?”
“Arrabella, I am four times stronger than that chump.” He pouted.
“He is not a chump Tyson.”
“I guess you want to stay up there.”
“What if I fall backwards and die?” I asked. He froze for a second, and then he was holding my hands.
“Tyson Dalton Benson is the strongest wolf person there is.”
“Aww thanks,” he teased, squatting so I could get off.
“Never again.”
“Yes ma’am.” He chuckled.
I looked over at Carter who was picking up the pizza on the floor. So he did spit out his pizza!
I giggled.
Carter looked over and fake glared at me.
“Sure laugh about it. I could have died,” he said dramatically.
“Yeah but you didn't.” I smirked.
He snorted and continued eating his pizza. I rolled my eyes at him and then turned back towards Ty. He was still obviously proud of being called the strongest wolf person alive so I rolled my eyes at him as well.
“What was that for?” He pouted.
“You can't honestly believe what I just said.” I shrugged, trying to play it cool. Of course I know Ty is like the strongest person alive!
“Yes I can because you said it.” He smirked.
“Only because you made me.”
“No, you actually believe it.” He grinned.
“No, I actually don't.” I smirked.
“Arrabella.”
“Tyson.”
“Who do you think is the strongest person alive then?” He challenged.
I tapped my chin, pretending to think about it.
“I don't know I haven't met everyone in the world.”
He rolled his eyes and then mumbled something about me being ridiculous under his breath.
“I think you're the ridiculous one,” I replied, walking over to Carter and sitting down next to him.
“Ew, Carter what are you watching?” I asked, shielding my eyes.
“Oh come on, that scares you?”
“Let's see, a man going around slitting people's throats? No shit that scares me!”
Ty sat down next to me and pulled me onto his lap.
“I'll protect you.” He chuckled, nuzzling into me.
“Thanks babe.” I laughed, hiding my face in his chest.
It didn't really help. I could hear the screams. Carter and Ty were both enjoying the
film, what idiots.
“Is the scary part over?” I asked, lifting my head.
“YES!” Carter shouted over Ty's ‘no.’
I peeked at the scream and regretted it. Of course, I looked at it right as a guy's head gets shot off.
“Please turn it off,” I groaned.
“No way,” Carter protested.
“Tyyy.” I pouted.
“Put something else on,” Ty told Carter.
Carter muttered something under his breath, and I think I caught the word pushover.
“Just wait until you find your mate,” Ty said defensively.
“I feel bad for whoever that person is,” Jason added, grabbing chips from the pantry and walking up the stairs.
“Shut up dickwad,” Carter shouted at him. Dickwad? Is that even a word?
“Aww Carter, I want you to get a mate so that you become all soft,” I added.
“I will never be soft.” He grunted, taking out the DVD.
“Yes, you will.” I nodded.
“Yeah you will man. I mean you are already soft when it comes to Aria,” Ty commented in approval. Apparently, everyone was supposed to protect me and stuff because I'm the alpha's mate, weird right?
“That's because she's so tiny and fragile,” he pointed out.
“Hey don't underestimate her lest she punches you in the arm.” Ty warned.
“Come at me,” Carter challenged.
I shrugged and then walked over to him, but as soon as I brought my hand up, planning on socking him in the stomach, he threw me over his shoulder.
“Ty catch her!” he called. Wait, catch?
Before I knew it, I was being tossed in the air like a football, landing in Ty's arms.
“Are you kidding me? I could have died!” I shouted dramatically.
“I would never let that happen,” Ty reassured, kissing my cheek and putting me down.
He led me upstairs and then looked over his shoulder for a second.
“Oh, and Carter, ever touch my girl like that again and I will cut your balls off.” I shook my head and laughed. Werewolves will be the death of me.
Chapter 19
Dear Diary,
We have tests today. I'm not looking forward to it.
Ty is starting to ease up as well. I can tell he's really trying to control his anger around me.
The only thing that will get me through these tests is Ty.
I am so happy that these are my last two days of high school.
~Aria
Ty and I were sitting in English waiting for our final exam.
He was bugging me about a guy who was apparently eyeing me up before school. Ty may be working on his anger but he needed to start easing up on his overprotective jealous side.
I mean he's usually fine when male pack members talk to me, but I guess he knows they aren't a threat to me and won't try anything.
Even when Carter and I were just playing around yesterday I could tell he was trying hard not to rip his throat out. Instead he gave a threat in jest, even though I don't think it was a joke to Carter.
“Thinking about Jack?” he asked. Jack? Is that the guy's name?
“I'm actually thinking about how stupid you are.” I smirked.
He growled low.
“Arrabella, I did not like the way he was looking at you.” “Sorry I can't control how people look at me Tyson.” I snapped.
He sighed.
“I know, it's the fact that you are so oblivious.”
“Oh, look if it isn't the mute freak.” I heard a snobby voice say.
I looked up to see Claire. What the hell is she doing in here? She's not even in this class.
“Claire, leave,” Tyson growled.
“Oh right. You only talk to Tyson.” She smirked.
“NOW!” he yelled.
She flinched back and then ran out the door.
Ty turned to me but before he could say anything the teacher walked in. I took my test and probably failed. I mean with Ty distracting me all semester I didn't really learn anything; at least it was multiple choice.
We left right after the test.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“I'm fine.” I sighed.
“You don't look fine.”
“Well I am Ty.” I groaned.
He took another step and stopped me, standing in front of me. We were now in front of my history room.
He took my jaw in his hand and yanked my head up. I looked in his eyes, trying to stay strong so that he would drop this.
“Okay I will be here after the test.”
“Alright.” I smiled, turning around and walking in.
After history was chemistry, and I kept Ty busy by asking him random questions.
It was like a game show, but he kept up well.
He is now walking me to math where I will take my last exam for today.
“Poptart or Toaster Strudel?” I shot out before he could say anything.
“Arrabella just take this math test. We can talk when we get home, and Poptarts.” He chuckled at the last part. I nodded and walked into math.
I waved at Carter who was in his seat and then sat down.
I took the test and was done with twenty minutes to spare. I looked over at Carter who was also done. He caught my eye and gave me a thumbs up. I rolled my eyes and then stood up to hand in the exam.
“You are free to go when you finish.” My teacher announced.
Carter stood up and followed me out of the room.
“Tyson is still finishing his history exam. Do you want me to wait outside with you?”
“Do I actually have a choice?” I asked sarcastically.
“Nope, you're stuck with me.” He grinned.
I smacked his arm.
“Ow, okay Tyson's right. You're tough.” He surrendered.
We walked outside where I saw Claire texting away on her phone. She looked up when she saw Carter and I leave the school.
She walked over to us and I groaned inside.
“Oh so you also talk to Carter. Or is it just boys you little slut?” She smirked.
“Back off Claire,” Carter warned.
“What? Can the little bitch not speak for herself?” She chuckled darkly.
“Oh, I can speak for myself you skank!” I yelled right before Carter cut in.
Carter looked just as stunned as Claire.
“Oh, so you were pretending this entire time?” she asked.
“No, I wasn't actually and you thinking that Tyson would ever want you is funny to me actually,” I spit out; I don't know what's happening. I barely even knew the words coming out of my mouth! Ty should be with someone as pretty as her.
“What would make you think he would want garbage like you?”
“What would make you think he wants a bleach blonde fake tanned Barbie like yourself?” I demanded.
“It's called tanning, and I know I'm perfect.”
“Yeah just like Barbie: plastic with no brain.”
“Maybe you should go back to not talking!”
“Why would that matter? Ty wanted me even when I couldn't talk. What does that say about you that a mute is more interesting than yourself?” I smirked.
She opened her mouth and then shut it.
“You're an ugly whore and I would rather be blue then ever even resemble you.” She sneered.
“For you to insult me I'd actually have to value your opinion, nice try though,” I shot back.
I walked around her, not because I was finished but because I was having trouble breathing.
“Aria where are you going? That was awesome!” Carter beamed.
“Carter, huh, I need, huh…” I panted.
“Aria? Can you breathe? Are you okay? What do I do?” He panicked.
“Arrabella breathe,” Ty demanded, appearing out of thin air.
“Where, huh, did you, huh, come from?” I asked.
“School is over, just breathe,” he repeated.
“I'm, hu
h, fine huh.”
“Deep breaths.”
I nodded and then hugged him.
He chuckled.
“So you told Claire?” He smirked as I looked up at him.
“Oh yeah, huh, you heard that, huh?” I asked, becoming slightly embarrassed.
“I'm so glad you stood up for yourself.” He grinned.
“Yeah, hey I'm fine. Can we leave?”
“Sure babe.” He smiled.
“Bye Carter, huh, see you at the house.” I waved.
“See you later guys.” He waved.
We arrived back at the house, and Ty took me up to his room.
“So what's wrong?” he asked.
“Nothing?”
“You seemed weird all day and then you yelled at Claire, which was awesome but is everything okay?”
“Ty calm down. I didn't believe anything I said to her,” I sighed.
“What?”
“I said I didn't believe…” I started to say.
“I heard what you said Aria. What didn't you believe?”
“I don't know. Words just started coming out and I couldn't stop them. I feel awful for calling her those names. It's just I couldn't get the time that you guys kissed out of my head.”
“Arrabella she came over, sat on my lap, and kissed me. I pushed her off just in time to see you walking into school. I swear kissing her is like kissing a plastic doll,” he confessed, lightly chuckling at his reference.
“Yeah well Barbie is pretty,” I mumbled.
He looked at me like I was crazy and then I realized he heard me; I should probably stop mumbling and just keep these things in my head.
“Yeah pretty, that's nothing compared to your gorgeous, stunning, perfect, outstanding, remarkable beauty.”
“Thanks Ty, but you have to think that you're my mate.”
“I don't have to think it because we're mates babe. I believe it.” He smiled.
“Thanks Ty.” I smiled, leaning over and hugging him.
“So what was bothering you?”
“Nothing is bothering me.” I laughed.
“I know there is and you always laugh to cover it up.”
“That's not even true!”
“Then you shout.”
“Ty stop,” I groaned, smacking his arm.
“Then you hit me.” He smirked.
“I think we're done here.” I sighed, walking out of his room.
“We are not done here,” he replied, grabbing my hips and pulling me back into the room.
I shoved at him and looked up into his brown eyes; the little dork was trying to show me who's boss. I almost laughed but contained it.
