Many thanks to my wonderful beta readers, Kara and Claire. Your feedback was very helpful and A Dragon’s Mind is a better story because of you. Thanks also go to Laura, for always lending an ear for me to bounce ideas off. Your friendship means the world to me.
A thousand thank yous to all the family members and friends who have offered support for my first foray into the daunting world of writing and self-publishing a novel. I feel so fortunate to have you all in my life. A special mention to the members of 20Booksto50k® for their willingness to share the details of their journey up the mountain.
Last, but not least, thank you to the seven most important people in my life.
Mum and Dad, you amaze me. Your strength of character and free spirits have guided me to where I am today. You have always inspired me to take the road less travelled, and I am so thankful for that. Love you uttmasaba.
Madonna and Paul, you’re the best in-laws a girl could ask for. Thank you for always offering words of encouragement and a kick up the bum when I get side-tracked. I love that you are almost as excited as I am about this story! Love you both lots.
To my children, you bring me so much joy. It’s because of you that I decided to take a chance on this writing caper. Thank you for inspiring me to be a better person. I hope one day, when you’re a bit older (and hopefully not still waking me up every night) you’ll look at your mum’s achievements and be proud. I love you both beyond words.
Thank you, Mitchell, for always being the wind at my back, and not the spit in my face. You never fail to offer your support in all of my hair-brained schemes, and I will forever be grateful for that. You’re my number one. I love you.
Fly fierce, strike strong.

About the Author
I was born in the South Island of New Zealand before my family and I moved to Australia when I was two years old. We lived on a yacht for a few years and travelled along the east coast of Aussie and across the Pacific Ocean to New Caledonia. My parents home-schooled us while we sailed the seas until we bought a house on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. I finally got to go to “real-school” and loved it – I couldn’t understand why we had weekends (because, according to my husband, I’m just a big nerd).
Shortly before beginning high school, we moved north to a rural property near Mackay. The big draw card was that I could finally buy my own horse, a dream I’d had since I was a little girl. On my first day at my new school, I met a boy on the bus who teased me mercilessly; nine years later we were married!
I started writing my first fantasy novel when I was twelve but abandoned it after deciding that being an author wasn’t a “real” job and therefore not worth pursuing. After completing my secondary schooling, my parents encouraged me to experience the real world before committing to a university degree. So, I applied to be a rider in a travelling horse show! Unfortunately, I wasn’t successful so instead I did the complete opposite and got a job as an insurance broker. I worked in insurance for seven years before leaving to start a family.
My husband and I have now welcomed two children into our lives – a pigeon pair. I feel very fortunate to be able to stay at home and care for them whilst my husband works away. It’s tricky finding the time to write with two small children but, as they say, where there’s a will, there’s a way! I can’t wait to get started on my next book am looking forward to sharing many more stories with you!
