“You know I love you, right?” I asked her.

A smile like sunshine bursting through the clouds on a rainy day lit her face. “Yeah, I know.” She took a step closer to me and wrapped her arms around my neck smoothing her body against mine. “You know I love you too, right?” she mimicked my words.

I slammed my mouth down on hers and took her the only way I could in this instant. I conveyed all the love, passion, despair, regret, and pain I had felt for her in the last decade in that one kiss.

I reached behind my back to open my bedroom door and began walking us backwards towards my room. She pulled away from me for a moment, only long enough to say two words, my room. And damn if those words didn’t make me even more excited about what we were going to do.

Once in Pixie’s room, I laid her flat on her back and glanced around the room. It was bigger than mine, and so was her bed. A massive four-poster, king-size bed took up a large portion of the room. Sheer material was draped around the posts and across the top of the bed. More fabric hung down around the frame on all four sides.

Pixie cleared her throat, bringing my full attention back to her naked body splayed out before me. “If I thought you were going to pay more attention to my room than my body, I wouldn’t have suggested coming in here.” One side of her mouth lifted in a seductive smirk.

“Everything about you is whimsical, your hair, your body, your tattoos. And now I discover, even your bedroom. I like it.” I leant my fully clothed body over her naked one and felt her shiver when the fabric of my shirt rubbed against her sensitive nipples. “Geez, Pix, I’m not going to last long if you keep doing that.”

A cheeky grin spread across her cheeks, bringing out her rarely seen dimples. Then she lifted her hips and ground them against my hard cock. I had to close my eyes, it felt so good. She moved her small hands between our bodies and pushed hard against my chest until I rolled off of her.

She was straddling me before I could ask what I’d done wrong. Sliding her hands up my stomach to my pecs, she pulled my shirt up. I sat up to pull it over my head and threw it aside. I wanted to take her perky breasts in my mouth; my tongue wet my lips as I leant forward. Pixie lifted herself up onto her knees. “Pants off first,” she said, her voice sultry and smooth. My jeans were unbuttoned and gone along with my briefs before I even thought about what I was doing.

Pixie lowered herself down on my hips. Oh god, she felt so good. My heart was pounding so hard I thought it would jump right out of my chest. I never thought I would be able to touch her like this again, to feel her skin against my own. A shuddering breath left my lungs. My emotions began to simmer closer to the surface than I had ever allowed.

I slid my hands up her back, feeling the tiny scars that still marked her skin. The scars from the wounds I had once cleaned and dressed. The pace of my breathing picked up another notch. Pixie took my face in her hands, and the pain in her eyes mimicked my own.

“It’s okay, Jake, it’s my past, and just like you helped heal me then, you can heal me now too. Be with me, in this moment; don’t think about those nights when I would come to you bleeding. Think of me now, this way. Think of us, this is the beginning of our future, and the end of our past.” She brought her mouth down on mine, ever so softly at first, but soon her kiss turned feverish.

I lifted her and held her over my throbbing cock. Squeezing her lush hips in my hands, I lowered her onto my cock and threw my head back as the sensation overwhelmed me. Nobody had ever felt as good as she did wrapped tightly around me. We were a perfect fit in every way. “I love you, I’ve missed you so much, sweetness. So much,” I breathed out.

As she moved above me, I watched her in awe. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever laid eyes on. My love for her intensified with each thrust. Her eyes closed as her body began to quiver with her release. My own followed soon after.

Pixie laid down on my chest. We lay together catching our breath while I stroked her long damp hair. She nuzzled into my neck, a deep sigh on her lips. “I missed you too, Jake.” Her words were spoken so softly I barely heard them. Then her breathing evened out and I knew she was sleeping. I kissed the top of her head and rolled over onto my side, wrapping my arms tightly around her. I would never let her go again.

The weekend flew by in a blur of amazing sex and discovering all the things she now liked in the bedroom. My quiet, reserved Tia was definitely dead and gone. My Pixie was not quiet or reserved; she liked control, I understood that. And honestly, I liked it.

When she went back to work this morning I knew she would be seeing dickwad. He and I had words when Pix kicked us out on Friday afternoon, several in fact. He told me how he felt about her, and what my being here meant for him. I felt kind of bad for him, but not enough to give up my girl. That was never going to happen.

I couldn’t blame the guy for falling in love with her. She was an amazing woman. It didn’t take me long to figure out that he was the artist of the painting of her in the living room. I had seen the signature in the corner, and when she told me his name was Ash, it all fell into place. I had no doubt that he loved her, even if he was supposedly gay. She was an enigma, unlike any other woman out there.

But he couldn’t have her. Pixie was mine. I’d lived without her for too long, and I couldn’t go through that again. It nearly killed me before. The only thing that could send me away now would be if she told me she didn’t want me anymore.

We were back to our lunch dates again and I was glad for it. I hated knowing he got to spend the day with her while I sat around her house waiting for two o’clock to roll around so I could spend an hour with her.

I kicked back on the daybed in the living room, trying to figure out what my next move should be. I obviously wasn’t going to be leaving this place, unless Pix was. But she had made friends here, friends who treated her like her family should have. It was pretty clear, this was her home.

Flicking through the employment section of the newspaper, an ad caught my eye. It was for a mechanic at Rhett’s Restorations. The name struck me, I’d heard it before. Then it hit me, Piper’s brother’s name was Rhett and he owned a shop. I checked the address and remembered riding past it a few times when I’d been looking around town. Throwing my boots on, I grabbed my wallet, helmet and keys, and I was out the door.

Fifteen minutes later I pulled up at the shop. I ran my fingers through my hair a few times and looked down at my black t-shirt and dark blue jeans. Hopefully I was dressed well enough for this. Walking into the reception, I was greeted by a polite brunette.

“Hello, I’m Rach. How may I help you?” she asked.

I cleared my throat; my nerves were beginning to fester just below the surface. “Uh, hi, I’d like to apply for the job I saw in the paper. Is there someone I can talk to about that?”

I sounded like a kid going for his first job interview. There was no real reason for my nerves other than the fact that I knew this dude was Piper’s brother. She was by far the most badass chick I had ever met, and it left me to wonder what kind of guy her brother was.

The receptionist smiled back at me. “Sure, I’ll go get Rhett for you. I’ll just be a minute.” She stood up behind her desk and smoothed her hands down her skirt before she walked out the door with the Staff Only sign above it. I began wringing my hands together. This dude probably wouldn’t even give me the job, I didn’t have any certificates or anything behind me. But I knew my way around any car put in front of me.

Before I could talk myself out of going through with this ridiculous plan, Rach the receptionist came back through the door, followed by a huge dude. I swallowed, the guy looked like Bruce Banner when he hulked out.

Rach went back to her place behind the desk and the big guy came over to where I was pacing a hole in the floor. He stuck his hand out to shake mine. “How ya doin’? I’m Rhett and this here is my shop. Rach tells me you’re lookin’ for a job.”

I shook his hand in return. I was not a little guy, but this dude made me l
ook like one. “I’m Jake. I’m good with cars but I don’t have a piece of paper to prove it. All I can do is show you what I can do.”

Rhett considered my words then nodded. “All right, I’ll give you a one-day trial. You impress me today and you’ve got the job. I don’t care much for paperwork, it don’t mean shit.” He turned and headed back through the Staff Only door. I stood frozen on the spot, I didn’t think it would be that easy. He ducked his head back through the doorway. “So far you’re not impressing me. I’ve already got an office bitch, I don’t need another one.”

My feet started moving as the words flowed from my mouth. “Shit, sorry. I was kinda stunned that you’re actually giving me a shot,” I rambled.

Rhett turned his attention back to the pretty brunette behind the desk in the office, sending her a wink. “Not that you’re a bitch, honey, I didn’t mean it like that. Forgive me?” She flipped him the bird, and I lifted my hand to muffle my laughter. “That hurts, baby, you cut me deep,” he responded to her gesture, then dropped his shoulders and pouted, like actually dropped his bottom lip.

I felt like I was intruding on something personal so I made my way further into the workshop. There were four working bays, tools mounted along the back wall, and a spray room sectioned off in the back. This place was a restoration fanatic’s wet dream. Everything you could possibly imagine needing, it was here. I rubbed my hands together, allowing myself to get excited about the prospect of working here full time.

We worked through lunch, so I flicked Pixie a quick text telling her I got caught up and wouldn’t make it today. She didn’t seem to mind, but who can really tell when a woman is pissed off through a text message.

At the end of the day Rhett had Rach give me all the paperwork I needed to fill out for his records and to put me on the payroll. I tucked them safely into my satchel and cranked my bike She purred between my thighs. I loved feeling all that power coming to life beneath me. I revved her a few times before taking off down the road towards home.

  Home.

I hadn’t one for the longest time. Not a real one. But that’s what Pixie was for me; no matter where we were, as long as we were together, I was home.

Pulling in the drive, I parked next to Betsy, Pixie’s little Mini. Rhett had done some pretty cool shit to that little car. If I hadn’t been so jealous of this unknown guy touching my lady’s car before, I would have taken the time to realize that. But now that I kind of knew the guy, I didn’t mind so much. He seemed like a real genuine type of person, and there weren’t many of those around anymore.

The front door was unlocked; she had started leaving it like that if I was home with her or if she knew I would be home soon. It was good to see her making little changes like that. Each day Pixie seemed to be more relaxed in her own space. When I first moved in, everything was locked all the time. The windows, doors, gates, and I’m talking heavy duty locks. It was obvious she was still looking over her shoulder, waiting for her past to find her.

I found her kicking back on her daybed, drinking a glass of wine while reading a book. I snapped a quick picture of her on my phone since she hadn’t bothered looking up to greet me when I walked in.

I dropped my shoulder, letting my satchel slip to the floor by the front door, and strode over to her. Taking her wine from her hand, I finally gained her attention. I sat on the edge of her seat, looking into her emerald orbs. She was clearly not okay with me cancelling lunch earlier. Shit. Before she could rip me a new one, I swooped down and kissed her. She stilled for a moment before she melted her lips to mine and kissed me back.

“I got a job today,” I whispered against her lips.

She sat bolt upright, her beautiful green eyes shining with happiness. “You did? Is that why you cancelled our lunch date today?”

I nodded in response. She threw her arms around my neck and plastered my face with small kisses. “That’s great. You didn’t tell me you were looking for work. I could have set you up with something. Piper’s brother Rhett is looking for someone. You’d probably like working with him.”

A huge smile covered my face. “Yeah, you’re right. I probably would like working there.”

She tilted her head to the side. “What’s that smile about? That’s more than an ‘I just got a job’ smile. What aren’t you telling me?” she asked with narrowed eyes.

I feigned innocence, placing my hand against my chest. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

I loved messing around with her like this. It was like the last twelve years never happened. We fit together so well, just like we did back then.

She responded by simply lifting a single, perfectly sculpted brow. It was so damn cute all I wanted to do was kiss her then take her to bed. I leant down to take her lips with mine again but she turned her check at the last second. “Not until you spill the beans.” She beamed, knowing I wouldn’t resist if the cost was losing her kisses and everything that followed.

I sighed. “I was looking through the paper this morning and saw a want ad for a mechanic, so I figured I’d go and apply. The guy was pretty easygoing and didn’t care that I’m not qualified per se. He told me if I impressed him today he’d put me on full time.” I got up and retrieved my satchel, pulling the forms I had to fill out from it and handing them to her.

Her eyes scanned the words in front of her, then she squealed and jumped up and into my arms. “You got the job with Rhett! That’s amazing, baby. Did you tell him you’re my—” she paused, looking for the right word to describe our relationship.

I decided to help her out with a few acceptable options. “Boyfriend, lover, man meat, eye candy, sex slave, penis on the premises…?” I was smiling so wide by now that my cheeks began to hurt.

She playfully slapped my shoulder. “All of the above,” she replied in a husky whisper.

And that was it, I was done. I turned on the spot, keeping her in my arms, and went to our bedroom. I was going to perform my duty as all of the above.

A few hours later we ambled into the kitchen, me in a pair of boardies and Pix in one of my shirts. I loved seeing her in my clothes; they were miles too big for her, but damn if it didn’t make the caveman in me pound his fists against his chest. We needed food, after our bedroom activities, we were both starved.

“How about we order takeout and eat it in the garden? It’s finally warm enough to go out there,” I suggested.

Pix went to one of the drawers by the fridge and pulled out a stack of menus. “Here you go, your pick.” She handed them to me then turned to rummage through the fridge.

I flicked through them until I saw something that interested me. I called and ordered enough food for both of us; it would take twenty minutes to get here. That meant I had a little time to get the next part of my plan ready.

“I’m just going to jump in the shower real quick, the food will be here in twenty,” I told Pix as I walked towards the bathroom. “Okay,” she called back.

Once in the bathroom, I took the quickest shower on record. I thank God I wasn’t a chick who had to shave her legs and pits and wash my hair twice a day. I toweled off and slipped into my room silently. Grabbing a pair of clean shorts, I slipped the little box into the pocket and checked my reflection in the mirror to make sure she wouldn’t notice it. Once I was sure I was good, I came out to find the food had already arrived.

We took it outside to Pixie’s little fairy garden and sat under the big tree at the wrought iron table and chairs. It was so picturesque out here, I hadn’t noticed the fairy lights strung up in the tree until we were sitting and they lit Pixie’s face with a slight glow, making her look even more stunning.

We began eating in silence. The food was amazing, and the night air was crisp but not cold. When we had both eaten our fill, I set my phone on the table and set it to play Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran. I stood, holding my hand out for Pixie to take. When she did I pulled her in to my body and began to slowly waltz around her garden lit only by the stars and fair
y lights.

I drank in every smile, giggle and kiss she offered me in those precious moments. It was perfect. As the song came to an end, I dropped to one knee and Pixie froze.

“You know I love you, right?” I asked her, just like I had some weeks before.

Tears shone in her eyes as she nodded.

“You’re the only girl who’s ever held my heart, my soul, my every waking thought. Marry me, Pix, let’s make this life here ours. Not yours and mine, but ours.” I couldn’t keep the tremble from my voice as my emotions bled out into my words. My hands shook as I pulled the delicate ring box from my pocket and held it out to her.

Tears spilled from her gorgeous eyes and ran down her cheeks as she nodded again. That was as good as a yes to me. I stood and swooped her up into my arms. “I love you,” she whispered against my neck.

When I placed her back on her feet, I took her left hand and slipped the ring on her finger. It was a perfect fit. She had such tiny fingers, I’d arranged to have it resized to make sure it would fit. I’d chosen a stone as stunning and unique as my Pixie, a Blue Lagoon Mystic Topaz. The large, oval-cut gem was encased with delicate filigree in rustic antique gold. Nothing in my entire life had felt as amazing as this moment.

I swallowed down the lump of anxiety rising in my throat; I had to get it out before I chickened out. “There’s more. I don’t want to wait. I’ve waited a life time to be with you, Pix, marry me this weekend. Let’s start our lives together as soon as possible. We have no reason to wait. We can have a simple ceremony here in the garden, just us, and whoever you want to invite.”

“All right,” she said, surprising me with her willingness to jump right into this with me.

“You mean it? Cause I’m serious as cancer here. I’m not playing around.” I had to make sure she wasn’t messing with me.
