Afterword
Coming events cast their shadows before.
—Minetta, What the Cards Tell
Whilst in the final stages of completing this book, we were suddenly faced with several unexpected challenges. It really did seem like something was working against us to get this work finished by the deadline. As the deadline approached, we became somewhat dispirited and began to lose all confidence in the concept of the book and the ambition of going through time to meet all the great tarot readers of the past.
We were completely lost and struggling with the whole project, with just one week remaining before the deadline. It was the same time as the EU Referendum in the UK, so the whole world also seemed askew that week; wherever we looked was confusion and turbulence. There was even more turbulence to come in the political world, and we were also feeling the bowing wave of that future flowing back into the present.
After a horrible lack of another night’s sleep, the umpteenth in a row, I (Marcus) got up to prepare for another onslaught of social media woe, and found my name tagged by Veronica Chamberlain, one of the tarot readers in our Tarot Professionals group of 22,000+ members on Facebook. 187 She wanted to share a dream she had recalled from that night, which was so powerful she had written it out on her mobile phone before even getting out of bed.
Here is her dream, slightly edited for this book:
What a dream I had. I dreamt I was on a ghost train with Marcus Katz and he was giving me a tarot lesson. I don’t remember the cards he had out on the table and I know it was a gated spread. Three other people were at the table. For some reason the time was set back in the 1920s and everyone had these fabulous clothes on and hats on. I dreamt the train went to many stops through time and I was invited into all the hidden parlours of old Tarot Readers. All the cards and decks were fabulous! The readers told interesting stories and threw some wild parties.
I also dreamt we were being stalked by some haters at some of the stops and Marcus kept saying, “They never go away and try not to pay attention to them.”
In one part of the dream I wanted to go to the 1920s Tarot Library across a field that was covered in manure! I saw a short-cut to get to the library except it had a gate that stated, “Only Very Good Readers May Enter. Others Are Strictly Prohibited!”
So, I climbed over the gate and entered the library. This led me to a basement where the walls were covered in gold. A male guide in a fur coat showed me all the writings on the wall and said they held the secrets. Then I was led to an older crone-figure who was sitting at a desk. She had a pen and a huge book. The crone asked me, “Do you know any Very Good Tarot Readers?” I started listing the names of very good tarot readers.
The old crone gave me a penetrating gaze and then I then realised what she meant and I said confidently, “My name is Veronica Chamberlain and I am a very good Tarot Reader!”
The woman smiled and wrote my name in the book and said, “Now you must do the work you’re supposed to do!”
Then I woke up. Holy!
We immediately asked Veronica if we could use this dream in our book, without her knowing anything about the subject or theme of it—no one knew anything about the time travel concept at that stage other than ourselves, our spouses, and the publishing team at Llewellyn.
The dream and its utterly clear connection to this book as well as its timing and direct communication to us was transformative. We picked up our laptops, cleared the desks again, got out our piles of cards and set to hard work for days on end to complete this book with a new passion.
We believe that it was a clear message that the tarot readers throughout time want to continue to inspire every reader through their work. The message to us all is a simple one: if you can cross the field of manure, you get to call yourself a Very Good Tarot Reader.
If you like, for completing this book and journey with us, you can also now register your own name in Veronica’s Book of Very Good Tarot Readers at www.tarottimetraveller.com.
You can discover more of the obviously very-connected Veronica on her site:

Answers to the Exam Questions 188
The reason that no other reader should be permitted to handle the tarot cards except when they are being used to give a reading is “because the more the tarot reader handles the cards the better, for this allows the cards to become impregnated with their magnetism and they are able to respond to the subtle thought vibrations of his unconscious mind. But the magnetism and thought emanations of others tend to impair this responsiveness through mixing the influences.”
The cards should only be turned over one at a time as read so that the reader looks at it individually and “notes any impressions that he receives in connection with its usual divinatory significance as he states them to the client.” Additionally, if all the cards are turned over before the reader starts, the mind spontaneously wanders over the spread and this detracts from the ability to draw correct conclusions from the card under consideration.
The detail that can be learnt about the people signified by the Court Arcana are the type of individual they are: their sex, male or female, as “[i]f the picture of the card is that of a man, it represents a man when right way up, and represents a woman when reversed. If the picture is that of a woman, it represents a woman when it is the right way up, and represents a man when reversed. Then the suit alone represents one of the four general temperaments.”
The life of a client is represented by a Court Arcanum through the “brief description and key phrase and the description of their astrological sign in relation to the card will give full detail of their characteristics; personal appearance, allegorical story and their spiritual possibilities.”
The reason that any problem is capable of solution by the method of the tarot is because “everything which exists has an astrological correspondence which is also associated with a tarot card, therefore, by selecting the proper factors, any physical or occult problem may be solved by the use of the tarot.”
The winged lingham signifies the permanent union of soul mates and thei
r ascension into the angelic world.
The Arcanum 0 corresponds to the planet Pluto and the two aspects or influences of this planet as indicated by the common T and the reversed T are having the energy directed upwards, the crossbar resting below on the earth, and thus indicating that the thoughts, emotions, and actions are directed exclusively towards spiritual endeavour.

Major Arcana Keywords
We have attempted to narrow the keywords down to one single keyword but in some cases have provided several to remind and prompt time travellers that the cards are multivalent, carrying many possible meanings and avenues for interpretation.
We have also recorded seventy-eight videos discussing how these keywords were derived and apply to readings in terms of relationship, finance, spiritual, and career questions that are available to members of the Tarosophy Tarot Association. 189
