My eyes pop open, and I gaze into his lust-filled gaze. “It has to be. I’m not willing to take no for an answer.” My hands slide between us, and I stroke his erection through the hard denim fabric.
“Let’s wait. Come over to my place after work.”
I grab the fastening of his pants and rip the button through. “I can’t tonight. I told Lillian I’d watch the kids while they go out.” I fist his hot cock and bite down hard on my bottom lip. He feels so good against my palm but not nearly as perfect as having him stroking in and out of my wet pussy.
“Shit.” His eyes roll back in his head.
“I can come over tomorrow night.”
“Fine,” he hisses and grabs the band of my scrubs. The elastic catches on my hips as he drags down the fabric. “I want you too much to argue about it.”
As I try and kick them off, they catch on my shoes. “Shit.” I grab his shirt to keep from falling.
“This is stupid romantic, right?”
“Absolutely.” I grin at him and experience the first wave of compete happiness I’ve experienced in twelve years. Being with him is right. It’s where I’ve always belonged.
When his fingers slip between the folds of my sex, I groan and grind against his palm. “So, fucking good.”
“Not nearly good enough, but by now, we’re down to twelve minutes. Turn around and spread your legs.”
A surge of adrenaline flashes through me at his words. My nipples strain against the lace fabric of my bra, but there isn’t time for him to worship every inch of my body.
I place my hands on the cool wooden surface and spread my legs with my ass sticking out, begging for his attention.
His rough hands cup my hips and drag me closer to him. The loud zip of his jeans opening, causes my mouth to water and my entire body shakes in anticipation. We might not be at a five-star resort, but my aching core doesn’t give a fuck.
“Your ass is so hot. You make my cock ache.” His fingers plunge into my pussy, and a moan escapes my lips. “That’s it, baby. If anyone is on the other side of the door, let’s give them something to talk about.”
“Shit,” I whisper. This is not a good idea. His fingers leave my center, and I hear a loud smack.
“Delicious. I love the taste of your pussy.”
Oh, my God. I convulse at his dirty talk. Despite my actions, I’m a good girl, and I can’t afford to be fired. Maybe –
The head of his cock pierces my lips and stabs into my core. “Oh, God,” I moan and slam my ass against his pelvis. Who the fuck cares? I can find another job. There’s zero chance I’m walking out of this room without him being satisfied.
I need to ground myself. My fingers claw at the surface, but it doesn’t do any good. With each thrust of his powerful hips, I lunge forward.
He grasps my neck and holds my head near his mouth. “Your pussy is so sweet. I’ve missed fucking your tight hole.” The gravel in his voice causes goosebumps to scatter down my back.
His filthy mouth ignites a spark inside me. That was never a part of our relationship before, and it’s exhilarating. My mouth drops open, and with each plunge into my depths, I groan, “God.” I’ve never been so filled. His cock stretches every inch of my sex and pounds against my sensitive core.
It’s too much, but it’s not enough. Shit. How much time do we have? Damn it, he was right. It isn’t enough time.
His hand moves from my neck and slides down my body; until he wraps his arm around my waist like a steel beam. He flicks, massages, and strokes his index finger over my swollen clit.
“Oh, God.” I hold my breath and ride the wave of his simultaneous movements. I’m no longer able to think or care what’s happening. I’m desperate for the release only he can provide.
“Yes, baby. Squeeze my cock. It feels like you’re sucking me off.”
“Fuck. I’m coming.” Lights fill my vision, and I convulse around his hard, slamming cock as an intense orgasm rips through me.
“God, yes.” He groans, and his hips stiffen as he shudders behind me.
Once he stops moving, I hear his neck pop, and he steps back. “So, fucking hot.”
Shit. As I turn, my face flames. It feels twenty degrees hotter than the rest of my body. Am I no better than my father said?
“Don’t.” He grabs my chin between his thumb and index finger. “You are perfect. This is not cheap or disgusting. No matter what crazy or dirty things we do with each other in the future, it’s because we love each other. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” I whisper, and tears fill my eyes. Not from embarrassment or humiliation but because I love him so much. And he’s beyond the capabilities of imagination. “I love you.”
“That’s better.” He grins and then kisses my lips. “Go to the bathroom and clean up.”
“There’s one right here.” I point to a door in the back of the room.
“You clean up here, and I’ll head to the public bathroom. I can’t afford to see you touching yourself and not start all over again.” He winks and tucks his cock back into his jeans.
My knees buckle. Seriously, I’m swooning here. Where did he even come from? The boy I was in love with was sweet, kind, and caring. He had a bit of swagger, but this Trey – he’s so far over the top. And all mine.
I wave at him as he opens the door. “I’ll text you tomorrow night after work.”
“Promise?” He holds the edge of the door and blocks anyone’s view of the room.
His eyes hold a smidgen of fear like he’s afraid I’ll leave him again. Never going to happen. “I promise.”
“I’m holding you to that.” He nods and shuts the door behind him.
I run to the door and twist the lock. Shit. I’m already five minutes late. I race over to my scrubs and pick them up. I’ve got to get back on the floor.
Five minutes later, when I’m walking into the door of the ER, I see a woman being pushed in a wheelchair into an exam room. My eyes narrow. Isn’t that Nicole? The woman looks like Trey.
Even though I haven’t seen Nicole in years, the patient appears to be the right age. Doesn’t she work here at the hospital? Shit. I swipe my phone screen open.
Me: I think I saw Nicole going into exam room six.
Trey: Are you sure?
Me: I can’t look and tell you without breaking HIPPA laws. Since you’re here, why don’t you check?
Trey: Thanks. I’ll be there in four.
My fingers shake as I replace the nurse who’s been filling in for me. I hope nothing serious is wrong with Nicole. Maybe it isn’t even her. My gaze falls to the patient list.
Nicole Collins – unconscious.
Shit. It’s her. Please, be okay. I scoot into my seat and put my phone down. There’s nothing I can do. Whatever is going on with her, the doctors will figure it out.
Chapter Twenty-Two
Trey
My heart slams in my chest as I rest my shoulder against the doorway of the exam room. Nicole’s eyes are closed as she lays still on the hospital bed. I’m not used to seeing her this way. “Nic?”
Her eyes pop open. They’re round and filled with anxiety. “What are you doing here?”
“Shit. Don’t get all worked up.” Lord, she must think the hospital called in her family. If I knew everything was okay, it would be funny. However, there’s nothing humorous about this situation. “You remember Natalie Westbrook?”
She frowns. “Sure.”
“Natalie works the front desk of the ER.”
“She called you?” Nicole looks behind me as if she’s afraid someone is listening to our conversation. “Don’t let anyone hear you say anything like that. She could get in trouble for telling you I’m in the hospital.”
I shrug. “She didn’t call me.” Shit. I’ve backed myself into a corner. If I admit Natalie didn’t call me, I’ll have to tell her what we were doing. I flush. Well, I’m not going to give her all the details. “We were – “
Nicole slams her hands over her ears. “Oh, don’t tell
me. I don’t want to know.”
“No, you really don’t.” I stride across the room. As I draw nearer, I feel the room closing in on me. Why does our family keep ending up in these places?
She raises an eyebrow. “Well, you look the part.”
“Thank you.” I sit down on the edge of the bed and grasp her hand. My jeans stretch across my thigh and the cuff raises up, exposing more of my biker boots. “What happened?”
“I don’t know.” Tears fill her eyes. “I was feeling dizzy for an hour or so and then passed out. I’ve never fainted before.”
Shit. My fingers tremble as I struggle to maintain my composure. Nicole has always been the baby of the family. I hate the thought of something being wrong with her. “Baby girl, you’ve got to take care of yourself. You can’t forget to eat when you’re working.”
“That’s probably it. I called Leah at lunch and didn’t have time to go to the cafeteria.” She leans up and shifts her weight.
The doctor knocks on the edge of the door. “Ma’am, I’m Dr. Davenport.” He steps inside and partially closes the door. “Tell me what happened.”
Nicole relays the events to the doctor. He listens and nods. “Well, the good news is, you’re fine.”
Thank God.
“Okay.” She scrunches her face as if she’s trying to understand what he’s saying.
But, why did she pass out? That doesn’t make sense.
“You’re dehydrated, low on potassium, and need to remember to rest and get plenty of fluids.” Dr. Davenport writes in her chart.
“Is that it?” I frown. “Why did she pass out?”
“Dehydration, lack of rest, and…” The gray-haired doctor gives her a pointed stare. “You’re pregnant.”
“How?” My mouth drops open. What the fuck? Don’t be stupid. You know damn well how women get pregnant. But Nicole was told when she was younger, she couldn’t have children. Looks like doctors don’t know everything. “Fuck, never mind.”
The doctor tells her the discharge instructions and leaves.
“Trey.” She grabs my hand and smiles. “Holy hell. I’m having a baby.”
“Yeah. Fuck. That’s what the doctor said.” I shake my head. “But you said you couldn’t get pregnant.” I bit my bottom lip and hug her. Shit. I didn’t even know she was seeing anyone. Where in the hell have, I been? “Baby girl, we’ll figure everything out.”
“I can’t believe it,” she whispered in my ear.
After several seconds, I release her. When someone else knocks on the door, I turn.
“Ms. Collins.” The doctor’s hand rests next to the metal frame of the doorway.
“Hey, Lucas.”
My eyes narrow as Nicole smiles at the man. Is this the father? I study him. He’s older, but decent looking. For a dude. I can easily see my sister being attracted to him.
“I met Jenna in the parking lot. She said you passed out. Are you doing okay now?” He straightens his shoulders.
“I’m fine.” Nicole’s eyes dart to mine. “Trey, this is Lucas Underwood. Lucas, this is – “
“Nice to meet you, Trey.” Lucas steps forward and sticks out his hand.
“You also.” I grasp his hand and eye him from head to toe. “How do you know, Nic?”
“We work together.” Lucas’ eyes narrow, and he squeezes tighter onto my hand.
My lips pull into a firm line. Then, I drop Lucas’ grip and stand back. “Doctor?”
“Surgeon. Thoracic surgeon.”
“Humph. Impressive.” I slap my hands on my hips and square off toward Lucas. He’s giving off a vibe I’m not happy with.
She rolls her eyes. “Seriously, are you two going to whip out your dicks and measure them?”
I grab my stomach and laugh. “Good one, Nic.”
He grits his teeth together. “It’s good to see you’re feeling better. I’ll go.”
“You’re leaving?” Her eyes scrunch, and she stares at him with big, sappy doe eyes.
“I think it’s for the best.” He shoves his hands into the pockets of his pants.
She leans forward. “I need to tell you something.”
He tips his chin up. “I heard the doctor say you’re pregnant. Congratulations. I’m sure you’re ecstatic. I don’t want to take away from your family celebration.”
“But…” She waves her hands and pushes all the way to a seated position. “Don’t you want to be here?”
He shakes his head. “There is no place I’d like to be less right now than here.” He takes one last look at her and sighs. “I’ll leave you two alone. Goodbye, Nicole.” Turning on his heel, he escapes from the room.
“Nic?” My hands ball into fists at my sides.
“Yes.” Her eyes dart to me.
Anger radiates through my body and seeps into the space around me. I can’t believe the prick just walked out on my little sister. “Is he the father?”
“No.” She shakes her head. “He’s the sperm donor. I’ll raise the baby alone.”
“No. You won’t.” My jaw pulses. I’m going to kick his ass. Natalie lost our baby years ago and the thought guts me. He’s throwing his baby away. It’s repulsive.
“Trey, you aren’t saying anything to him. He doesn’t want children, so let it be.”
“That’s bullshit,” I spit out. “I’m going to kick his white ass. He thinks he can knock up my baby sister and not follow through with his obligations.”
“That’s enough.” She straightens her shoulders. “I chose to have sex with him. He didn’t force me to do anything. It’s my own fault for not using contraception. I’ll deal with the consequences.”
“No, Nic. He needs to provide for the baby. He needs to take care of you.” I step over to the bed, sit down, and grab her hand. I’m careful not to disturb the IV line.
She sighs and shakes her head. “I appreciate the big brother knight in shining armor routine. I really do. But I don’t want him if he doesn’t love me or want to be a part of our baby’s life. On his own. Not forced. I can’t be a woman that traps a man or comes in second place.”
“Nic?”
“No.” Her jaw tightens. “I told him I wouldn’t get pregnant. I wanted to have sex with him even though we didn’t have protection. If he thought there was any chance, we’d make a baby, he would have run for the hills.”
My teeth ground together. Finally, I sigh. Nicole is an adult. She’s perfectly capable of deciding how to live her life. “Okay. I understand. I don’t agree because a man should hold up to his responsibilities, but I respect your wishes.”
“Thank you.” She leans forward, places her arms around my neck, and sags into my chest.
“When did you grow up?” I pat her back. “I remember when you were a little pissant that got into my baseball cards and passed them out to all your friends.”
“Hey, I was in first grade, and you weren’t using them.”
“I was saving them. Do you realize how much some of those cards would be now?”
She cringes. “Yeah, so I’ve heard.”
I lean back and place my hands on her cheeks. “Don’t worry about anything. Between Mom, Dad, Leah, and myself, we’ll help you with anything you need.”
“Thanks.” She falls back against the pillow and moves as if she’s trying to get comfortable.
Chapter Twenty-Three
Natalie
“Are you sure you’re okay with watching the kids tonight?” Lillian asks as she checks her earrings.
Once she’s confident her jewelry is snug, she places her hands on her hips. The navy dress she’s wearing is stunning against her red hair.
“Yes, I’m positive.” I lift Jaeden up and make a funny face at him. When he beams and blows a bubble, my heart swells with love for him.
When Lillian had her first child, Audrey, six years ago, I’d seen her at the hospital but slipped back out of town to avoid facing the past. We’d made time to see each other every couple of months, but the contact had been limit
ed. I’m through the moon about spending time with them now. Although, I could kick my own ass for waiting so long.
“You’re such a pretty boy,” I coo and nuzzle his cheek.
“Don’t get him all slobbery. He does that well enough on his own.” She strides over and kisses the top of his head. “Did you talk to Trey, yet?”
Warmth spreads throughout my body. Please, don’t turn beet red. “Yes. I talked to him this afternoon.”
“Yeah?” She steps back and studies my face. One side of her mouth curves up, and the corners of her eyes wrinkle. “You got laid.”
“Stop it.” I glare at her and place Jaeden on my hip. He grabs my work ID chain and yanks on it with his tiny, pudgy fingers.
“Don’t lie to me.” Her eyes narrow into little slits. “I’m preparing for when my kids are teens, and I need to spot an unprotected sex act from sixty miles away.”
My eyes widen. Crap. I’m not on the pill, and this is the second time I’ve had sex with Trey with no condom. My heart skips a beat. It’s one thing to say I’m ready to go all-in with him and another to face reality.
Am I ready to try again? Inhaling, Jaeden’s faint odor of baby powder, my entire body goes soft. I’m one hundred percent ready.
“Good God, girl, you’ve got smoke coming out of your ears.”
I chuckle. She’s not wrong. I can almost smell the circuits in my brain melting. “Sorry, I was thinking about babies.”
She arches an eyebrow and slaps her hands on her hips. “And?”
I grin. “I can’t wait. I told Trey this afternoon, I love him and want all the things we talked about when we were younger.” I shake my head. “Thankfully, he’s a forgiving person and feels the same way.”
“Yes.” She pumps her fist in the air and grabs me in a giant bear hug. Jaeden laughs and grabs onto her earring. “No, sweet baby. Momma’s going out tonight.” She carefully pries his fingers off her jewelry.
When his eyes well with tears and his cute bottom lip quivers, I bounce him in the air. “Now, none of that with your Auntie Nat.” Thankfully, I’m rewarded with uncontrollable giggles rather than a snot-filled cry fest because he’s not above one of those either.
