I stifled a laugh behind a cough at the glare he received from Amber. He even made Mom pause and catch her breath. Mom soon pulled herself together as she started to arrange us for photographs.
I smiled at Chase, and taking his hand pulled him in beside me for the photograph. Rogan was on one side with his hand low on my waist while Chase threw his arm over my shoulders, landing on Rogan’s shoulder. I noticed how Amber clenched her arms around the one Rogan had in front of him. Mom frowned but took the group photograph before taking my hand and leading me into the kitchen.
“Why isn’t Rogan happy to be with Amber?”
Caught off guard, I stuttered and felt a blush high on my cheekbones, but then I felt a familiar presence behind me.
Rogan laid his palm on my bared back. “Because she asked me to prom, and Chase accepted on my behalf. I didn’t want to be an asshole and tell her no after she’d announced to the whole school I was taking her.” He slightly rubbed my back and then moved over to Mom, giving her a hug. He towered over her. “I don’t want her to get the wrong idea. She doesn’t listen when I try and tell her I’m not interested.” He kissed Mom on the forehead. “Don’t worry.”
Making his way toward me, he took my hand and intertwined our fingers, pulling me along the hallway and out of the house. Amber waited to the side and so did Chase and Leon, none looking too happy.
Rogan squeezed my hand before letting go. “We ready?”
“Where’d you two disappear to?” Leon asked, suspicion clouding his face.
“Mom wanted to talk to us for a moment.” I slipped into the limo we’d rented for the night, tugging Chase in with me.
Amber and Rogan followed, sitting opposite Chase and me. It wasn’t ideal because I felt my body heating at the lazy look on Rogan’s face. And I could feel the evil glare coming off of Amber, but I avoided the girl’s gaze. The silence was stifling and lasted until we arrived at the hotel and the driver opened the door for us to all pile out.
“No intimate touching,” Rogan whispered, before sliding his arm around Amber’s back. She preened at his touch and I swallowed my discomfort and jealously by completely ignoring them.
Turning to Chase, I grabbed hold of his hand and rested my head on his shoulder. “We’re going to do this?”
“Rogan and you are asking for trouble,” he mumbled, pulling me closer. “I’m only doing this because I love you both.”
Smiling, I reached up and kissed him on the cheek. “I love you too, Chase, and we’re going to have a good time.” I grinned and got nudged in the side.
“When you two have stopped kissing face, can we go in?” Julia already sounded drunk, which made me wonder what was in the flask Leon kept passing to her in the car.
“We’re not stopping you.” We walked into the hotel and Chase chuckled in my ear.
He nodded toward where they had the photographer set up.
My eyes danced when I witnessed just how uncomfortable Rogan was with Amber. He didn’t even know I watched him as he had to force himself to touch Amber’s arm.
I’d never seen him look so awkward.
Hours later, the music sounded louder in my ears. All my friends were getting drunk around me. I wasn’t sure how they’d managed to sneak in alcohol, but the punch was laced with it. Not one of the chaperones had paid attention to the fact, which I thought might have something to do with Chase’s older brother flirting like crazy with Ms. Robins. He caught my raised brow and grinned, telling me to turn back to his brother.
“I think I need to tell him she’s my algebra teacher,” Chase grumbled.
Tugging Chase onto the dance floor, I wrapped my arms around his neck, forcing him to dance with me. “I think she’s drinking the same punch that we are, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.”
Chase twirled me around like a pro and I was laughing and gasping for breath by the end of the song. He reached for two glasses of punch, except my drink was taken away before I could get a hold of it.
“You know that’s laced with rum, right?” Rogan growled.
“Rogan, really!” Amber staggered over in her too high heels. “It’s prom, let her do what she wants. You can’t babysit her all night,” she continued to whine, wrapping her hands around Rogan’s arm. “I want to have fun with you.”
“No punch,” he whispered as Amber dragged him to the dance floor.
“Um, why is Rogan being an asshole?” Julia stumbled into me, and Leon caught her around the waist from behind. “He’s always watching you.” She pointed a wobbly finger at me.
Coming to my rescue, Chase wrapped an arm around my neck and leered down the front of my dress. “He’s just protecting his sister.”
I quickly turned to face Chase and he slapped a kiss to my shocked mouth.
“What?”
He winked.
“You guys break it up,” Leon smirked. “Guess who has a hotel room booked for tonight?”
My eyes immediately shot to Julia, who was frowning at Leon. “We talked about this,” she mumbled.
Leon grinned and kissed her fiercely. “Not me, Rogan. He’s got a room booked and Amber has been trying to get him to take her there since we all arrived.”
“Him and Amber?” I questioned.
Julia tilted her head.
Chase cursed.
Leon shrugged. “I don’t know what the big deal is. He never goes out with anyone, so it’s about damn time.”
Julia hit him in the stomach, which ended in them kissing to the point that I thought they were the ones who needed a room.
A room like Rogan has booked.
My eyes filled with tears as they searched and found Rogan across the room talking to Amber and her friends. He wasn’t touching her, but she was touching him—constantly. I knew I needed to pull myself together before I acted like the jealous girlfriend I was. Not that I could announce that bit of information. I was also well aware that the room key didn’t have Amber’s name on it. Rogan wouldn’t do that to me. I was still angry and jealous, though.
Rogan caught me looking, a frown appearing on his face before he turned and headed toward me.
“Do not react.” Chase grabbed my arm and spun me around to face him. He quickly wiped at my tears, and said, “Dance with me.”
Chase didn’t give me the choice as I was immediately in his arms. He held me tightly around the waist while we danced. My back was against his front with my butt grinding against his groin. It had no effect on Chase because I was the wrong sex, which no one else was aware of. I put my all into the dancing because I wanted Rogan to be pissed. I wanted him to know what it felt like to have to watch him with Amber, even knowing he had a room key in his pocket for us.
Just the thought angered me and I wanted to scream or hit him. I wanted to yank him away from Amber and tell her he was mine. Inside, I was steaming angry and upset and so close to stamping my foot like a two-year-old having a tantrum. Grabbing hold of the hands on my waist, I moved them suggestively to my hips.
Chase tightened his hold, his breath hot on my neck as he hissed, “You’re going to get me a broken nose.”
My eyes locked on to Rogan and the heat from his anger scolded a path straight to my heart. I burst into tears, and Chase froze behind me before leading me from the dance floor. Muttering to himself, he shoved me in front of him and out into the hallway.
His arms went around me and I clung to him, wetting his shirt with my tears. “I thought I could do this,” I wailed. “I really thought I could without losing it.” I looked up at Chase and then started laughing. The look of panic on his face made me laugh harder, which turned to sobs. “I don’t want him to be with anyone else.” I pulled away from Chase. “He has a room,” I shouted.
“For us,” an angry voice growled from behind me, and then cursed under his breath.
I turned and faced Rogan; his surprise as he looked at me was evident. “What—”
“Leon is under the impression that the room is, um, for Amber,” Chase
added.
“He’s told everyone, right? That’s why Amber won’t stop clinging to me.” Rogan ran his fingers through his hair, his eyes finding mine seconds before he pulled me into his arms.
He held me tightly with one hand on the back of my head, and the other around my waist. “I promise you that room is for us. I told you I was sleeping with you tonight.” He kissed the top of my head and left his lips there. “I’m going to kill Leon.”
“I know, tonight, seeing you with Amber, it hurt. I thought I’d be able to handle it because I knew your heart was mine. I can’t handle it, Rogan. I can’t handle seeing you with someone else, even when I know what’s really going on.”
Rogan sighed heavily and held me tightly.
My world righted itself once again.

Fallon
Looking out of the window from the hotel room there was nothing but darkness. It was earlier than Rogan had planned to bring me to the hotel. However, after my outburst at prom, we’d wanted away from there. Chase wasn’t happy because Rogan had offered him up to Amber, who had been more than angry. I didn’t think we’d heard the last from her, especially because she knew he was leaving to take me home.
Closing my eyes, I felt Rogan move in behind me, his fingers trailing softly along my spine. “You look so beautiful, Fallon, and tonight, as always, you outshined everyone.” His lips skimmed my shoulder and I reached up, sliding my fingers into his hair.
“I’m afraid, Rogan.” I turned in his arms. “What are we doing? Nothing good will ever come of us being together.” Ignoring the tears falling from my eyes, I searched Rogan’s eyes as he caressed my face.
“I love you, and I’m not going to let anything stop us from being together.” He kissed my forehead. “I know our relationship isn’t…normal, but we belong together, Fallon. We always have.”
He held my gaze as I hesitated before him, and then I was in his arms, clutching him. “Don’t ever let me go,” I begged fearfully.
“Never.” His arms held me tightly around the waist and then we were moving. He slowly placed me on my feet in front of the bed. “I’m going to show you how much we’re meant to be together.” Offering a wry smile, he nervously brushed his fingers from my shoulders down my arms until our fingers intertwined. “This is the first time for both of us, and I’m just as nervous as you are.” He kissed my fingers and, letting go, trailed his fingers down between my breasts to my belly button and back up.
“We don’t need condoms,” I whispered, my eyes met his, wondering how he’d react to my words.
He closed his eyes and swallowed before he focused on me again. “I’d hoped you’d say that because I want to feel you on me.” He paused. “I came prepared, but I swear I’m healthy.” He continued working his magic with his fingers.
My body trembled under his touch but the look of awe on his face gave me the courage to slip my dress to the floor. Rogan caught his breath, backing up, he dropped to his knees, removing the dress from around my feet. His hands caressed my ankles as he unfastened the high-heeled sandals, and then I stepped out of them and sat on the edge of the bed.
He moved between my legs, which was when I placed my hands on him. He’d already removed his jacket and now I helped remove his shirt, smiling when his skin was revealed.
“I love touching you,” I admitted, sliding my fingers through the small amount of hair on his chest.
My fingers circled and rubbed the small, hard buds of his nipples and his body shuddered. He groaned. “I don’t want to miss anything of tonight…of unveiling you.” He captured one of my nipples in his mouth, sucking and licking before going in for the other.
Sliding my hands lower, his stomach quivered when I scraped my fingernails over his erection. He hissed between clenched teeth, and dropped his hands to the bed on either side of my hips, holding my gaze.
“I’m not sure I’m going to last long enough to get inside of you.”
I offered him a reassuring smile. “We have all night.” Moving further onto the bed, I held my hand out, wanting him to join me.
Briefly closing his eyes, Rogan got to his feet and once the rest of his clothes were removed, he joined me on the bed, kneeling between my spread legs. His eyes caressed over my nude, flushed body, his gaze unable to settle in any one place.
My eyes widened at the sight of him naked and aroused. He was magnificent. I couldn’t look away as his penis grew and throbbed from the dark patch of hair covering the base of him. The tip was purple and swollen with pre-cum leaking from the slit. I reached out to touch him as he moved closer, but he captured my wrist.
“I want your touch so much, Fallon.” He jerked hard. “I’m holding on by a thread right now. One touch from you and I’ll come.”
I was nervous knowing what we were about to do, but as I looked into his eyes, I honestly couldn’t imagine being in the position with anyone else. It was reserved for Rogan and always would be.
“I’m afraid of hurting you,” he admitted as he lowered his gaze, almost as though he was as unsure as I was.
I reached out and pulled him to me. “You won’t.”
He swooped down, capturing my lips with his hot mouth. I moaned and wrapped myself around him, the length of his arousal pressing between my legs. His hips gently rocked and then his penis touched my opening. We froze, breathing heavily.
“You sure?” he asked, and I thought I’d die right then.
“Yes.”
He cupped my head in his hands and watched my reaction as he slowly pushed the thick head of his penis inside of me. The pressure was immense and my vagina contracted around him, attempting to push him out. Rogan cursed, sweat on his brow.
“I want to feel you all the way inside of me.” I clung to him, our bodies slippery.
He groaned. “Don’t tell me shit like that.” He panted. “I’m trying hard not to come. Having you in this way is beyond exciting. The feel of you wet and swollen, squeezing my dick is out of this world, and I only have the head inside of you.”
I locked my ankles on his butt and tried to urge him on. “I’m just as excited, and feel something building. Please, just thrust inside of me.”
“Fuck!” he roared, and, slowly pulling out, he thrust inside.
Pain hit me as I felt my insides burning. Rogan chanted, “I’m sorry,” over and over again while his penis seemed to fill me even more, and then he clenched my hips in his large hands and came inside of me. I felt him. I felt every pulse of his penis as warm semen poured into me. It was exciting to watch him while he was at his most vulnerable. He pulled out of me slightly, and slid back in, grinding his pelvis against my clit, and then I found myself digging my nails into his ass as I joined him in pure bliss.
Rogan hissed as my body pulsated around his penis—squeezing and tugging—and, when he sucked a nipple into his mouth, I arched against him.
He cursed in my ear and I moved my arms, wrapping them around his neck as he wrapped me around his body. We gently rolled to the side and I slung a leg over his hip to keep us joined.
For the first time in my life, I felt loved in a way I’d never dreamed was possible. I’d always thought the love I’d read about in romance novels was only fiction. I knew now it wasn’t.
Rogan nuzzled my ear and whispered, “I love you,” his voice trembling. “I can’t explain when or how I fell in love with you, but you’re mine, Fallon.” He brushed a soft kiss across my forehead while I felt him hardening and touching the sensitive place inside of me. “I can’t let you go.”
“I don’t ever want you to let me go. Wherever we go in this life, we go together. Always. I love you.”
Wrapped together, Rogan made love to me until I couldn’t think anymore, and I knew, the night was the one I would treasure for the rest of my life.
Rogan
Fallon walked out of the bathroom after she’d put herself back together, taking my breath away. Her dark hair was no longer as curly as it had been the night before, but h
er face was glowing. She glowed. Her happiness was clear for me to see, and it was because of me. I wanted to feel as happy as she did, but something held me back.
I loved her. I couldn’t explain why my feelings were what they were for someone so forbidden. I was waiting for something or someone to bring what we were doing out into the open, for it to crash around us.
Nothing could have stopped me from doing this for Fallon. I wanted to remember last night and have it associated with prom. We may not have gone to prom together, but, in my heart, I’d been with Fallon.
“You’re thinking too deeply.” Brushing her fingers through my hair, she rubbed her fingertips across my brows. “Do you regret what we’ve done?”
I captured her wrist and brought her hand up to my lips, pressing a soft kiss to her palm. “Here, with you, was the best night of my life.” I offered her a soft smile. “I’m afraid, Fallon.”
She frowned. “Why?”
“I’m afraid that when we walk out of this room, everything will change,” I admitted. “I don’t ever want anything to change between us, but it has. Our relationship has changed in ways it was never meant to, and that terrifies me.” I brought her hands to my chest and clutched them tightly. “I don’t regret anything we’ve done, and God help me, I want to do it all over again.”
Fallon grinned and tugged her hands free. Wrapping her arms around my neck, she went up on her toes, my arms wrapped around her and held her tightly. “Last night was amazing, and I’ll never forget it…but,” she whispered into my ear, “I love you, and no matter how wrong this is, I want you. Only you, Rogan.” She brushed a kiss across my lips. “Thank you for last night.”
She stepped back and I found it difficult to remove my hands from her, so I intertwined our fingers together, refusing to let go. “We need to get home.”
“I know.” She sighed.
I didn’t want to leave. When we did, I’d be back in my bedroom while Fallon was in hers across the hall. I hated sleeping apart from her. Neither of us had ever talked about the consequences of being together. I was thinking the trouble wouldn’t happen to us—to other people, yes, but not to us. It was naïve of me, of us. I only hoped that one day it wouldn’t come back to bite us on the ass.
