As for school, I managed, even if I missed Fallon on a daily basis. We talked every morning when we woke up, then again every evening before going to bed. It wasn’t the best but it also wasn’t too bad. As time went on, I knew it would become harder and harder to be away from her.
Leon surprised me because he really was missing Julia. He flirted with the girls on campus, but nothing serious. I would laugh if one of them took him up on the teasing because I knew Leon, and my friend would run a mile back to Julia. Theirs was a relationship I’d never seen happening.
My dorm room was for single occupancy, so I was lucky enough to get Chase on one side and Leon on the other, which was good. At least we didn’t have to go too far to meet up. It was the girl opposite who was a pain in my butt, and I had Leon to thank for that. With Leon not being in the know about Fallon and me, he’d flirted with Tiffany on my behalf, and now she had it in her head that I was shy and interested. Not the case. Chase found it amusing, but that soon changed once he caught the eye of Rome.
Leon was no longer under the impression that Chase was dating Fallon. I was just glad he hadn’t made a scene now that he was aware of Chase’s preference.
I still waited for Leon to ask me about Chase. He knew we’d hung out a lot back home while he was off with Julia. He was going to put two and two together and come back with five. So yeah, I actually looked forward to that.
Leon was currently slumped on the end of my bed with his phone glued to his hand, a smile on his face. Only Julia could make that happen.
Hearing Leon’s stomach growl, made me crave the burgers Dad cooked on the grill. Tonight, I thought a trip to Wendy’s might be in order. They weren’t as good as home, but they’d fill the hunger until I was back there.
Nudging Leon with my foot to get his attention, I smiled as he gave me the finger.
“I need a burger.”
Leon’s eyes popped wide. “Why didn’t you tell me you were hungry?”
“I did.” I shoved Leon off the bed. “Let’s go get Chase and eat.”
“What about a movie afterward? We don’t have anywhere to be tomorrow.”
“Pick something.” I paused. “Nothing girly to remind you of Julia.”
“Yeah, right, asshole! At least I have a girl. Can’t say the same about you and Chase.” He frowned. “Forget I mentioned Chase and girl in the same sentence.”
I ignored Leon as he shot a message off to Chase. Seconds later, he got a reply when Chase barged in. “Let’s go.”
I watched Leon and Chase, and I was glad nothing had changed between us. That was what true friends were. I just hoped when it came out about Fallon and me, that I’d still have that with Leon. Chase wouldn’t be an issue.
“Wendy’s?” Leon asked, not looking up from his phone.
I rolled my eyes at Chase and shook my head. Chase just grinned and climbed into my car. “When we go home, do you think your dad will grill?” Chase asked.
Laughing, I replied, “The next time we’re home is Thanksgiving, so it will be snowing.”
“That sucks.”
After eating, we walked to the movie theatre and I couldn’t help the groan of annoyance slipping from my lips when I spotted Tiffany and a friend waiting near the ticket office.
Leon was the only one who didn’t look surprised.
“What did you do?” I growled.
“Look, you’re single. She’s single and interested.” Leon, the asshole, grinned and sauntered up to the girls.
I narrowed my eyes at Chase, who shook his head and moved away. “I had nothing to do with this. You should know that.”
Running my hands through my hair, I cursed and glared daggers at Leon. “I’ll get our tickets but the idiot can sit with the girls.” Stomping off to the ticket counter, I ended up getting Leon’s ticket, even though I was irritated with him.
Chase was struggling not to laugh as I shoved Leon and gave him his ticket.
“You get the girls a ticket?” Leon had the balls to ask.
It stopped me mid-step and I slowly turned toward my idiot of a friend. “I didn’t invite them, so no, I didn’t.”
Turning my back to them, I headed into the theatre and found Chase chuckling behind me. “You are so awesome when pissed.”
“You better be sitting next to me or I’m leaving,” I grumbled.
“How old are you, six?”
Ignoring my amused friend, I slumped in the seat right up against the wall and glared at Chase when he moved to sit along the row in front. “Are you kidding me?”
He smirked.
Leon and the girls appeared. Tiffany slid along until she was in the seat next to me. Her gaze immediately went to my angry face and her blush deepened, making me feel like a shit for being such an asshole.
Inhaling, I turned to Tiffany and admitted, “I’m sorry Leon keeps doing shit like this. It isn’t you, okay? It’s me. I’m just not interested because I’m already in love with someone else. So please stop because I know Leon won’t.”
“He said you’ve never had a girlfriend,” she whispered back. “I thought you two were best friends.”
I rubbed at my brow where the headache was starting. “We are, and Leon doesn’t know everything like he thinks he does. I’m not interested, okay? Ignore Leon in the future.”
Within minutes of me being honest with Tiffany, she was cuddling up to me as the movie started. So I did the only thing I could and climbed into the seat behind everyone.
Chase was oblivious, but the others glared at me, especially Leon who narrowed his eyes. I shrugged. “You arranged this.”
Retrieving my phone from my back pocket, I unlocked it and immediately saw a message from Fallon. It was only a smiley with a love heart over the lips, but it said more than words.
All tension drained from me.
Rogan: I miss you <3
Fallon: Miss you more <3
Rogan: How was school?
Fallon: Boring!
Her usual reply.
Rogan: What you doing?
Fallon: Lying on my bed, thinking of you.
My heart pounded as it always did.
Rogan: I’m always thinking of you.
Fallon: <3
Fallon: What are you doing?
Rogan: At the movies with the guys.
I wasn’t even mentioning the girls Leon had arranged to join us, or rather me.
Fallon: What are you watching?
Realizing I had no clue, I laughed.
Rogan: IDK.
Fallon: lol
Rogan: I love you.
Rogan: I miss you.
Fallon: Forever my heart <3
Rogan: Goodnight! Sweet dreams! <3
After the movie, Leon confronted me, so I set him straight. “You need to stop trying to fix me up. I’m not interested.”
“You…um…and Chase—” Leon didn’t finish and I noticed an actual blush on his cheekbones.
Chuckling, I grinned so wide my face hurt. “I can assure you that my preference is of the female variety.” I shook my head. “Please stop, Leon. If I wanted to be with someone, then I’m sure I could find my own girl. I’m just not into anyone, so leave it.”
Leon added, “You really don’t want to mess with Tiffany?”
I gritted my teeth together, trying to find calm when I really wanted to knock Leon’s head off. Maybe he’d listen then. “Listen clearly. No, I am not interested in messing with Tiffany or anyone else you can think of. If you do this again, I’ll make sure Julia knows about it.”
Leon cursed and I thought I’d finally made my point.
“I’m leaving, so if you or Chase want a lift, get a move on.” I made my way to my car and waited.
With my phone in hand, I opened up my photographs and smiled as the images appeared of Fallon. Her black hair flowed down her back and was so thick and shiny that it seemed endless. I loved losing myself in those waves as I’d run my fingers through the thick tresses. She was the most beautiful girl I
d ever seen and I was completely obsessed with her. The way she moved would cause me to lose my every last thought. The way she looked when she hovered above me, her silken strands caressing my body. But my favorite part of Fallon was her smile. She lighted my heart when she smiled, and it was only for me—a secret tilt of her lips whenever she noticed me. It was something I missed.
You could only have so much through the phone or via computers, and even though I hadn’t been gone that long, I missed the physical contact. Just being able to hold her hand would satisfy me.
She said everything would change once I went away to school. She’d been right in some ways. Things had changed and continued to do so, but the one thing that had stayed the same was my love for the girl I’d left behind.
Part III
Rogan aged 19 / Fallon aged 18

Fallon
Sitting in the new window seat in my bedroom, I watched as the rain fell in large, thunderous drops. It was almost pretty, but, right now, it matched my mood—dark. I missed Rogan so much and the daily calls and texts were not really the same as being with him. I felt cold without his arms around me. Sad without his smile to brighten my day. I desperately wanted to talk about him and my misery with Julia, but I couldn’t.
Julia was just as miserable with Leon being in college with Rogan and Chase, the guys having decided to stay together. It was good for them, but not for the ones left behind, missing them. I wasn’t being fair because I knew Rogan was missing me. He didn’t have to say anything because I could hear it in his voice whenever we hung up. I could see it on his face after we’d video chatted.
It had been strange with him gone from home. The summer before he’d left for college had been bittersweet because we’d known he was leaving. I’d gotten the feeling he’d wanted me to beg him not to go, but as much as I’d wanted him to stay, I couldn’t do that. I loved him too much to be selfish.
In the last six months, he’d only been home for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and my eighteenth, and his nineteenth birthday. I wondered, occasionally, if our parents still suspected something between us. Our parents hadn’t said anything recently. Even if they had, I knew I couldn’t stop. Neither could Rogan.
I knew what I felt for Rogan was real, and I’d do anything to keep him close. I hated the thought of him being away at college with all the girls I knew would be looking at him. The thing was trust, and I did trust him. It also helped that Leon was constantly complaining about Rogan’s lack of female companionship, as in nothing happening on that front. So yes, it was good to have that reassurance.
But I missed him.
“How long are you going to sit there lost in your own thoughts?” Julia asked, not even making me jump at my friend’s sudden appearance.
Turning my head, I found my bedroom door was closed and Julia spread out on my bed. “How long have you been here?”
“About five minutes.” Julia smirked. “You weren’t really here.” She waved her arms around.
“Sorry,” I mumbled, stretching as I got to my feet. “I can’t shake this gloom that’s hanging over me.”
“Do you have plans?”
“You mean like staying in my room, missing Rogan?”
“I mean like packing a bag and coming with me to see the guys.”
My heart missed a beat at Julia’s words and my eyes searched hers to see if she was lying to me. “Please tell me this isn’t a joke.”
“No joke.” She grinned. “I begged Leon to drive home yesterday while he had no classes so he could take us back with him.” Jumping from the bed, Julia quickly hugged me, and shoved me toward my backpack. “We need to be quick,” Julia added, “he’s already been waiting while I waited for you to notice me.”
“Does Rogan know I’m going back with him?”
“No! I can’t wait to see his reaction. According to Leon, he’s a miserable asshole, and that’s a quote.” Opening the top drawer of my dresser, Julia glanced at me. “What do you want to take?”
“I’ll pack, you go and tell Leon I’ll be down in five minutes.” My lips twitched up into a smile. “We’re really going to see the guys?”
Julia nodded and I threw my arms around her shoulders. “Thank you.”
“Hey, I’m not just doing this for you.”
I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, I’ve already figured that one out.”
“Move it.” Julia smacked me on the butt and then she was gone.
Not wasting another moment, I tossed a set of clean clothes into the bag and then I was running downstairs, texting Mom to let her know where I was going. I grabbed a raincoat on my way out before running to the car.
Hours later, we pulled up outside the dorms and my stomach was in knots. What if he didn’t want me here? He had never asked me to come up for a weekend. Maybe he wanted to stop what we’d started? Doubts, and more doubts ran through my mind as I followed Leon and Julia into the building.
I didn’t pay much attention to the other students we passed in the hallway because I just wanted to get to Rogan.
Coming to a stop, Leon pushed a key into a lock and softly opened the door. “He’s in there,” he whispered. “I think Chase is with him.”
Leon took Julia’s hand and led her down the hallway to the room next door to Rogan’s.
A girl opposite the door openly stared, making me feel uncomfortable as she looked between the door, back to me, and the door again. Just as I was about to enter, the girl took a step closer, so I quickly slipped inside and let the door close in the girl’s face. Something told me I wasn’t going to like her, whoever she was.
Before I made my presence known, I heard, “Chase! Stop getting on my butt. I’m not bothered about what girl has her eyes on me.” Rogan cursed. “The only girl I will ever want is waiting for me back home. She’s mine and I belong to her, so stop. Shit, tell everyone I’m gay or something. Just back off.”
I was frozen just inside of the doorway feeling my heart swell and any doubt I had dwindled at his words.
“You need to be careful,” Chase stated, more serious than I’d ever heard him. “Real careful.”
“I don’t know what I’m doing, but I love her. I always have. I know it’s wrong. I also know that I’ll never want anyone else the way I want her. She’s part of me, and this may be selfish, but I love her too much to ever give her up because I won’t survive if she’s ever with someone else.”
“That will never happen,” I said, surprising them both. “I love only you, Rogan.”
Rogan blinked a few times. “You’re really here?”
I nodded, tears swimming in my eyes. “Yes.”
“Thank God.” Rogan rushed forward and swept me up into his arms. My legs automatically curled around his waist while my mouth searched for his. “I’ve missed you,” he whispered before he devoured me.
I vaguely heard, “I’ll go,” and then the door closed.
Panting against my mouth, Rogan said, “Let me lock the door so no one can get in.”
My legs and arms tightened around him and I kissed and licked his neck, sucking on one of his earlobes as I heard the lock engage.
Rogan growled, pinning me to the wall with his hips. “You overheard everything I said to Chase?”
I nodded.
He paused. “Good.”
His mouth came crashing back down, passion and desperation hitting us both. Our clothing disappeared, and then I shoved a hand between us, wrapping it around his large penis.
“Inside you,” he groaned, and then grunted when he slid all the way inside. “So good.”
I arched, stretching up to the ceiling, enjoying his hands on my butt as his mouth sucked and nipped at my breasts. Then he started hammering between my thighs. He was really thick and long, I felt every single inch of him as he brought me higher and higher toward release.
“I can’t go slow.” He trembled.
The angle of his thrusts changed slightly and, without warning, my orgasm rushed through me. Rogan mout
hed my neck while my body pulled every ounce of semen from his flesh.
“I’ve missed you,” he mumbled into my neck.
Chuckling, I tugged his face up to mine. “I’ve missed you more.”
“Not possible.”
I brushed the hair from his forehead, and trailed my fingers down his face. “I wish I could stay here with you.”
“You’re here until Sunday, right?”
I nodded.
“Then you’re not leaving my sight the whole time.” He rested his forehead against mine. “It won’t be long before you start college and then we’ll be able to live together.”
“Only if Mom doesn’t get her way and has me in the dorms.”
He shook his head. “No way will that happen…even if it does, you won’t be staying there.”
Grabbing my waist, he lifted me off of him and my eyes rolled, my teeth chewing on my bottom lip at the sensation of him sliding out of me. Rogan hissed when he popped free, and I was back on my feet. My eyes roamed over him and I couldn’t hold the amusement in when I saw his sweats wrapped around his ankles.
He followed my gaze and smirked. “What can I say?” He wrapped a hand around his wet penis. “I missed you.”
My body trembled as I watched him stroke himself, but then he spoiled my viewing pleasure by turning and kicking off his sweats. He grabbed up all our clothing, then he kissed me on the nose. Holding out his hand, he said, “Come and sleep with me. I want to feel you in my arms all night.”
I didn’t need asking twice as I moved forward and took his hand. He put me into his bed and climbed in behind me, spooning.
