Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui (Revised and Updated)
Page 15
In many instances it is, indeed, time to move on, and you do yourself and your partner a great disservice if you prolong the agony by delaying doing this too long. Scary as it may seem, if it is the right thing to do, you will discover that right alongside your quivering fear is another quivering energy called excitement. This is your Higher Self thrilling at the prospect of the new opportunities that are about to open up in your life.
LETTING GO OF EMOTIONAL ARMOR
If your home is very cluttered you may feel the need to wear serious quantities of jewelry, probably to the extent that you may feel only half-dressed if you go out without it. Like house clutter, jewelry worn in this way is a form of emotional armor. After clearing your home, you will likely want to reduce the amount you wear because you feel more confident and able to let the natural “you” shine through.
Actually, this whole book has been about spiritual clutter. It’s about the process of clearing away all the clutter that obscures our vision, confuses or misleads us, and hinders us on our path.
THIS SPECIAL TIME
We are fortunate to be alive in what the majority of spiritual teachers today believe is the most important time for human spiritual development in the history of our planet. It used to be that all the great knowledge of the world was held by just a few. Do you realize that nowadays you can attend a weekend workshop and learn the basics of what in centuries gone by would have taken years of dedicated apprenticeship to master? Not in the same depth, of course, but the fact is, these doors are now open and much of the knowledge and skills are available.
Holding on to things that keep us rooted in the past can therefore be totally counterproductive. When you think about how many times you are likely to have been reincarnated to be here today, surely your eternal Spirit is keen to be in present time, ready and able to go with what is happening now.
CALLING YOU BACK TO YOU
In Bali, they have a special ceremony known as “The Calling.” It is understood that as a person goes through life, parts of themselves fracture and split off. If this happens too often or, in the case of a sudden, traumatic event, too quickly, it can weaken the Spirit of the person to a life-threatening extent. For example, after being injured in a road accident a vital part of the healing process is for the person to return with a priest to the place where it happened, to ceremonially purify the spot and call the part of their Spirit they left there back to themselves.
This ceremony is specific to Bali’s form of Hindu religion and doesn’t translate well to Western usage, but I mention it because a similar calling-back process happens when you clear the clutter in your life. As you release the things you no longer love or use, you call back to yourself the parts of your Spirit that have been attached to them, and attached to the emotional needs and memories associated with those objects. In so doing, you bring yourself powerfully into present time. Your energy, instead of being dispersed in a thousand different unproductive directions, becomes more centered and focused. You feel more spiritually complete and more at peace with yourself. All from simply clearing clutter. Amazing, isn’t it?
LIVING CLUTTER-FREE
The higher purpose of clutter clearing is to help clear the debris that prevents us from connecting to the high spiritual realms we came from and to which we will return. It is all too easy to lose the plot down here, get immersed in materialism, and come to believe that this world is all there is, when in fact being here is only a short interlude in the spiritual journey each of us is on.
Clutter clearing in all its forms helps to restore clarity and simplicity. When you keep around you just the things you need for your personal journey instead of burdening yourself with things that obscure your way and hold you back, it is much easier to connect with your spiritual path. And when you have the sense of peace and purpose that comes with that, you will never feel the need for clutter again.
More Help
INSPIRING LETTERS
It’s my sincere hope that reading this book will inspire and motivate you to clear clutter as never before, and many people have written to me over the years to tell me how much it has helped them. You can read a selection of these letters on my website (click on the Readers’ Letters link in the Books section), which will hopefully inspire you to do likewise.
ONLINE COURSES
Feel that you need more help? I teach a range of online clutter clearing courses that you can take in the privacy of your own home, with ample time to put everything you learn into practice as you go along. As one participant said, “For me, this was a thousand times better than just reading a book.”
My online courses have been taken by thousands of people from over fifty countries, and you can find full information about them on my website.
FIND A CLUTTER CLEARING PRACTITIONER
The good news is that it costs a heck of a lot less to hire a practitioner to help you let go of things than to acquire them in the first place, and it takes a lot less time, too.
On my website you can find an International Directory of Practitioners who have been personally trained by me to a very high level and also participate in continuing professional development programs each year to maintain and develop their knowledge and skills. If no one is listed in your part of the world, email info@karenkingston.com to ask if there are any practitioners willing to travel to where you live. This can often be arranged.

PROFESSIONAL CLUTTER CLEARING PRACTITIONER TRAINING PROGRAM
My professional training covers a range of techniques and skills that are not taught in any other professional course. Major emphasis is placed on learning to discern the underlying reasons why a client has accumulated clutter in the first place, which allows them to gain a new perspective about it, and this in turn leads to a greater willingness to let it go. The training also includes advanced personal energy management techniques that I believe are essential for all professionals in this field of work to know and practice.
