“Big enough for four.” He replied, still eating nonchalantly. “In case you want to get really wild.”
“Just you is more than enough.”
Lucas bit his lower lip sexily as he set his fork down.
“Do you want to play ‘drop the soap’?” He asked, wiggling his eyebrows. “Because I only use body wash.”
“I don’t care what you bend over to pick up.”
“Why, you charmer you.” Lucas drawled.
Before I knew what was happening, Lucas had reached down and popped the button on his jeans. The zipper came down lightning quick, and Lucas had his jeans pushed down to his ankles. He was stepping out of them before I realized that we had been dealing with a commando situation throughout meal prep and what little of the dinner we had eaten. I popped my tongue against the roof of my mouth with a wicked grin.
“You’ve just been waiting to do that, haven’t you?”
“I’ve eaten enough.” Lucas kicked his jeans out of the way and stood on the other side of the counter, his stance playful, though his eyes conveyed a different feeling. “We can always eat more later.”
“Then let’s work up an appetite so—”
Lightning flashed again, and every light went out, casting the house in complete and utter darkness. Lucas somehow kept himself from jumping, but I didn’t manage to keep myself from gasping at the sudden extinguishing of all of the lights. Once more, lightning flashed, letting me know that Lucas was still standing around the counter from me, still naked, but then it was dark once more. I wasn’t sure if I was upset that the lights were out because it was creepy or because it kept me from enjoying the sight of my boyfriend completely nude and ready to do bad things with me.
“Well, shit.” Lucas sighed.
“Do you have a generator?”
“No.” Lucas groaned pitifully. “Even if I did, I wouldn’t go outside to start it up. I mean…it’s really coming down.”
I stared through the darkness in Lucas’ general direction, my eyes starting to adjust to the darkness enough to see his shape on the other side of the counter.
“Hm.” I moaned. “Your hot water heater electric or gas?”
“Gas.” He said, and I saw his shadowed shoulders move. “Why?”
“We can still take that shower,” I replied playfully. “I don’t need any lights to take advantage of you, ya’ know.”
Lucas moved to walk around the counter, though I heard him more than saw him. His bare feet padded against the floorboards as I turned on my barstool so that I would be facing him as he came around to my side of the counter. Within seconds, I felt his hands reach out and land upon my chest, feeling his way towards me. Once his hands found me, he moved forward more confidently, his hips pushing between my legs until he was nearly pressed against me. My lips found his in the dark as my arms snaked around him so my hands could lay against the warm flesh of his back.
Sighing happily, Lucas returned my kiss and moved until he was pressed fully against me. I could feel his groin firm against me as his tongue rolled into my mouth, and his fingers twined through my hair aggressively. My fingers dug into the flesh of his back as I drank him in, suddenly overwhelmed with an urge to throw him down and do a number of things to his body right there in the kitchen. Lucas pulled back before I could continue this train of thought, as though he could look deeply into my eyes as he stood there.
“Why is that when I kiss you, all I can think about is all of the things I’d let you do to me?” He whispered from mere inches away.
It wasn’t nearly enough room for all of his body to not be touching me now.
“Do you want to tell me those things?” I asked in the same tone.
Lucas leaned back slightly, groaning with frustration.
“I want to be able to look at you as I show you those things.”
Whether or not it was instinct or an impulse that had lived inside of me since my teenage years, and I had merely forgotten during my ten years of memory loss, I put one hand between us, open wide, palm facing upwards. How I did it, I would never be able to explain since it seemed like such a fundamental part of who I was, but a flame slowly grew within my palm. Red and yellow, warm colors that put off no heat but lit the space between us. Lucas’ eyes sparkled in the light of the flame in my palm, though he did not look even the least bit surprised at my magic. I stared into his eyes as I held the flame in my hand without being burned.
“Is that better?” I asked softly.
“Every little thing you do is magic.” He said.
“What?”
My mind flashed back to a memory.
“From one minute to the next, I never know what you’ll do, Rob.” He sighed happily. “You surprise me at every turn.”
I just stared into his eyes as fiery shadows decorated his face.
“How do you do that?” He glanced at my hand then back to my eyes.
“I don’t know.”
I wasn’t lying. I really didn’t know. If he had asked if I had my memories back, my answer would have had to be different. But he hadn’t asked that. He didn’t ask if I had suddenly remembered that I could do magic at will and not just when attacked by werewolves. Of course, Lucas didn’t have his memories, so he didn’t remember all of the times I had done it before. That led to another problem. If Lucas didn’t remember all of the magics I had performed in the past, why wasn’t he surprised?
“When you saw me coming,” I began, “did you see this? Is that why this doesn’t surprise you?”
Lucas shrugged.
“That’s not an answer.”
He grinned wickedly.
“This isn’t me being playful,” I said softly. “Tell me. Oma said you saw me coming. What did you see?”
Lucas examined me for several moments, his eyes lingering on mine as my other hand stayed against his back, keeping him from escaping. Not that I expected Luas to make a break for it just to avoid a question, but I didn’t want him to think that I was going to let him off easy. For several moments, Lucas stared into my eyes over the flickering flame in my hand, his eyes showing the internal debate he was having with himself. Something Lucas had seen had bothered him, and he either didn’t understand it, didn’t want to tell me, or wasn’t sure he should tell me. Regardless, I was going to do my best to make sure that he shared it with me.
“I saw fire.”
“Fire?” I glanced down at my hand.
“No.” Lucas gave an almost imperceptible shake of his head. “Point Worth was on fire.”
I swallowed hard. Lower parts of Lucas were still pushing against me. Nothing would deter the man when he was ready for me to use his body in any way that I wished.
“And that made you realize I was coming back?”
Slowly, Lucas began to nod, his eyes not leaving mine.
“Didn’t that scare you?” I asked gently. “Seeing our town on fire and knowing that it meant I was returning?”
He shook his head in the same way he had nodded.
“Why?”
“Because you’re a fireman.”
The soft gasp, more like a rough inhale, escaped my mouth before I could even stop to think it. Lucas just stared at me. The gravity of what he had said didn’t register with him, though I desperately wanted to know why he had chosen those words.
“I’m a fireman?” I mumbled.
He nodded. “You don’t start fires. With few, small exceptions.” He glanced down at my hand with a soft smile. “But…”
Waiting for Lucas to finish his thought, I grew nervous, but lower parts of Lucas seemed to push against me harder.
“…you’re always there to release the floods.”
“Where did you hear that?” I gasped, the fire flickering in my palm.
He shrugged. “It feels like something I heard in a dream. It feels like something I’ve heard before, but I don’t remember where. Do you remember where I might have heard it before?”
Sometimes a person finds themselves being f
orced to choose between lying to a person they love to protect them and telling them the truth and risking that it will put them in danger. Putting Lucas in danger was something I couldn’t bring myself to do in that moment. My choice was clear.
“No.”
He shrugged once more. “Then I don’t know how to explain it.”
“Are you being petulant because you think I’m lying or you really don’t know?” I asked the obvious question.
“Do you think I’m capable of being petulant with you, Rob?”
“No.”
“There you have it.” He leaned forward and kissed my lips gently.
The top of the flame in my hand was licking against his chin, but it did not burn him. How Lucas knew that he could get so close to the flame and come away unscathed was another mystery. Of course, did he know that the flame wouldn’t hurt him—or did he trust me so much that he knew I wouldn’t let it hurt him? I didn’t know which scenario scared me more. Eventually, I knew that I would end up hurting Lucas. I didn’t know it like Lucas knew things, but I knew my history. People around me got hurt.
“Is there anything else you know that I need to know?” I asked as he pulled away, his chin sliding over the flame once more.
“I’m here until the end.” He said firmly, yet his voice was a whisper. “Whatever comes…I’m here until the end.”
“Do you know the ending of our story?” I asked though I wasn’t sure I wanted to know it if he did.
“Yes.”
“Tell me?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
Lucas reached up and smoothed my hair back on my head, his eyes only looking kinder and warmer as he stared into mine.
“Because,” he said softly, “I know you. You’ll do something to affect it. And that will only fuck things up worse.”
“Why do you think I’d want to change the ending? Is it bad?”
Lucas smiled.
“I think you’ll try to avoid it.” He explained. “And…I can’t explain it…but I think avoiding things is what has led us to where we are now, babe. I wish I had my memories so I could make more sense. But I think something in our past—something we did when we were teenagers—put us where we are today.”
“I like where we are today.”
“I’d like us more if we were in the shower together.” Lucas tried his hardest to distract me and change the subject.
It worked.
Chapter 6
Lucas did his best to stifle a laugh as I slipped behind him once more, my hands clenched on his shoulders, nearly making us both slip in the shower. My hands on his shoulders were the only things keeping me from ass-planting on the slippery floor of the large shower. The water was at a temperature between boiling and pure steam, and with the electricity out due to the storm, I couldn’t see anything in the bathroom. The two small windows on the other side of the bathroom only provided illumination when lightning flashed, which was happening in intervals that grew further apart as time went on. Rain was still coming down steadily, though it wasn’t quite the doomsday style storm it had started out at as early in the evening. Regardless, the bathroom, without electric lights, was just one big black box providing the stage for our sex-shenanigans.
“This is impossible.” I grumbled though I couldn’t put any ‘oomph’ into the words.
I was too turned on.
“You’ve never had trouble before,” Lucas mumbled playfully over his shoulder.
At least, I think he was speaking over his shoulder. It wasn’t like I could see him if he cast a glance back in my direction. The thought of him looking over his shoulder into my eyes as I did my best to join our bodies in the shower turned me on even more than I already was. My desire to make things work in the slippery, steamy shower was becoming an ache in my groin. I felt like I was going to explode before things would actually get underway. Suddenly, I found myself wishing that I was as buff and in shape as I had been when I had filmed my last action movie. If I had that heft and agility, I would have just scooped Lucas up and pounded away at him without any difficulty. I would impress him with my skills and addict him to my body. Not that he wasn’t nearly jones-ing for me normally.
“I got this, don’t worry,” I mumbled back as I stepped gingerly up behind him again.
“Please.” He sighed. “Come on, babe. I really fucking need this right now.”
“How much do you need it?” I teased as I guided myself towards him, doing my best to hit my target in the dark. “Tell me how much—”
When I placed my hand against the shower wall to stabilize myself, my palm slipped against the tile, and I slid forward, my face smashing into the back of Lucas’ head. Instead of screaming out in pain, Lucas began laughing uproariously as I stepped back and grabbed my nose with a groan. I could hear Lucas turn gently around in the shower in front of me. I still had my nose in my fist, rubbing it as Lucas’ hand grabbed ahold of another part of me and began to stroke.
“Do you need me to take charge, babe?” He cooed.
I groaned as his fist pumped slowly up and down the length of me, and his lips found mine in the dark. Reaching out, I tried bracing a hand against the shower door and the other on the wall of the shower again, only to find myself slipping once more. Lucas laughed against my mouth as he caught me, wrapping his arms around my middle to hold me upright.
“I think you might be more comfortable with fire than water, babe.” He whispered seductively into my ear as the showerhead forcefully sprayed water against his back.
“This is ridiculous.” I couldn’t help but laugh. “Why did I think this was such a good idea?”
Lucas moved his hand down to my length again as his other arm stayed around me, eliciting another moan from me.
“Because doing this together seems like a good idea anywhere.” He cooed once more as his arm slid from around my middle.
Lucas continued to slowly work me in his fist as he reached behind himself to turn the spray of the showerhead off. It was almost as if Lucas could see in the dark and know where everything was, the deft way he handled every situation in the shower. Of course, it was his shower, so he probably knew every inch of it by heart.
“You probably say that to all the guys you’ve had in this shower.” I teased; my voice gruff as he continued to use his hand on me. “Make all of the guys feel good about themselves so you can have your way with them.”
“You’re the only guy I’ve ever had in this shower.” He squeezed me tightly, just this side of painful, before the stroking resume. “But I don’t have to convince you to let me have my way with you, either.”
“Never,” I grunted.
“Let’s dry off and move this to the bed, babe.” He stated gently, his fist slowly sliding away from me.
Feeling his hand loosen and then slide away from me made me want to scream out in frustration but, instead, a low growl escaped my throat as Lucas shoved the door of the shower open and nudged me towards the opening. Obviously, I was not to be trusted to exit the shower after him. He wanted to stay behind in case I slipped and needed to be caught. I rolled my eyes, knowing that he would not catch the expression in the dark bathroom, and stepped out onto the mat in front of the shower. Once my other leg had followed, and I was on solid ground, Lucas followed. I didn’t venture far from the shower for fear that I would bump into something, or trip, or commit any number of blunders, thus giving Lucas something else to tease me over. Instead, I moved just far enough aside to allow him to exit the shower and close the door after himself. We both were outside of the shower, dripping water onto the mat and floor as I yanked the condom off of myself and let it fall to the ground. We would need a fresh one before we continued.
Before I could make a move towards the door—or, at least, in the direction I thought the door was—Lucas pulled me into him and pushed his lips against mine again. We had barely completed the kiss before his mouth was on my neck, then my chest, then trailing lower to my stomach. I moaned as Lu
cas worked his way down my stomach, planting kisses over and over again against my wet flesh, his lips sucking at my skin as he lowered to his knees. He was taking me into his mouth as his knees hit the bathroom floor. He moaned hungrily as his mouth began to move on me, and my fingers clutched at his hair. My other arm wanted to shoot out to brace myself against the wall or the shower door, but I was afraid that I would slip again, pulling my body away from his mouth and ending my ecstasy. Instead, my other hand grasped at his hair as well, using him for support as he sucked at me.
Everything ended too quickly because soon Lucas was back on his feet, his mouth searching out mine. As we kissed again, I wondered if his lips tasted like what he had just had in his mouth. My fingers stayed tangled in his soaking wet hair as we fed at each other’s mouths and lower parts of us fought and strained against each other. Suddenly, Lucas was pulling at me, his mouth staying on mine as he directed us towards the bathroom door. We tumbled out of the bathroom, somehow keeping our lips pressed to each other’s as we collapsed in a heap on the bed. Lucas pushed me back onto his bed, obviously unconcerned with the fact that we were both still wet.
Using my elbows, I pulled myself entirely onto the bed and turned my body so that I was laying along its length. In the dark room, I saw Lucas’ figure walk around to the foot of the bed in the dark, and then he crawled up between my legs. Within moments, his mouth was back on me, and my fingers were in his hair, urging him to keep doing the thing that he did expertly. Lucas’ moaning on me and his head bobbing hungrily only aroused me more as my fingers pulled at his hair. Groans escaped my throat as he did his best to bring me to the brink with nothing more than his lips and tongue.
Just when I thought I might be moving towards the point of no return, Lucas pulled his mouth away from me. Obviously, he sensed me starting to buck my hips towards him as he bobbed his head and knew that only meant one thing. He didn’t want things to end so quickly. Lucas kissed the tip of me, and I knew that if the lights were on, I’d see him grinning devilishly up at me. It was a good thing the electricity was out. That would have sent me over the edge and made a real mess of things.
