Nobody Can Love You Like Them Roughnecks Do

I left out, ignoring Izzy calling my name and all the ruckus going on behind me because I’d hit Nichole.

I texted Belly to see if he was home. He said he was and that I could come over. I couldn’t wait to tell him what she’d said, so I floored it out of the parking lot and to his home in Inglewood.

“You aight?” he answered the door.

He was in boxers, gray sweats, socks, corduroy slippers, and no shirt. He was for a sure an LA hood nigga; this was their uniform. He probably couldn’t wait to get out of that suit he’d worn for that press meeting with Sully a little bit ago.

“Yes.” I leaned my head back for a kiss before entering Belly’s home further. Dropping my purse, I said, “Can you believe Nichole invited me out to lunch just to try and convince me you were cheating on me? Well had cheated.”

  “What she say?” He frowned.

“That she saw you at the SLS Hotel, at a kickback ordeal, and that you were coming out of the bedroom with Cadence.”

Belly inhaled sharply and then ran his hand down his face before scratching his fresh fade. His muscular arms flexed, making his tattoos look like they were moving.

“Blaise, it was one time, and it was the only time I fucked around. I haven’t—”

“Wait.” I laughed. “Hold on. So Nichole was telling the truth?”

  “Yeah, but—”

“Stop walking toward me. Don’t even try to touch me.” My body was shaking, and my heart was thumping seemingly out of my chest. All the rumors and bullshit that I’d ignored because of what he told me, when I should have been listening. Before I knew it, tears were spilling down my cheeks. No wonder he’d ‘fallen asleep’ on me.

“Baby, I swear I haven’t done shit else, and it meant nothing to me. I was high and drunk as shit.”

“So what!” I hollered through tears. He came closer, hugging me and kissing my neck while apologizing, but I was disgusted by him. “Get off of me, Cortez! Right now!” I pushed at his body, but it was similar to steel, making me feel captured.

“Fuck!” he bellowed when I kneed him in the nuts.

He still tried to hold onto me, but when I elbowed him in the face three hard ass times, he couldn’t help but to loosen his grip. I rushed out of his house, and he limped after me, blood spilling from his nose.

“I’m not fucking with you anymore, so give it up!”

I hopped into my car, quickly starting it as he got closer.

“Blaise! Blaise, get out the fucking car!” he barked, punching my passenger window and shattering the glass all in the seat.

I hit the accelerator with all of my strength, peeling off and not looking back. I didn’t slow up until I got to my own damn condo.

After parking, I pulled my phone out and saw Izzy had sent me a direct message on social media. Since I felt kind of bad for leaving her there the way I had, I went to see what she’d said. There were no words though, only a picture of two pregnancy tests. When I looked up to see it was a screenshot of that girl Maia’s story, my heart sank. Belly supposedly hadn’t been with her in ages, but I didn’t believe shit he said anymore.

Not able to take two things in one day, I dropped my phone into the passenger seat and just cried. My heart was aching, and for some reason, this felt worse than with Five-Star.

Realizing I needed to be done with Belly entirely, I grabbed my phone back up to call the nearby clinic. I could barely look them up because Belly kept hitting my line.

“The Hills Medical Solutions, this is Adah. How can I help you?”

“Hi, yes, I’d like to schedule an appointment to terminate my pregnancy.”

No way was I about to have yet another baby by an ain’t shit nigga…
