Keep Me (The Lucky Family Book 2)

What the hell? A helicopter? This doesn't happen. These situations don't exist in this world.
I cried as I was moved to a different bed and gripped the edges. "No, I don't want to go! I live here! No! Get away from me you psycho!" I yelled as Ronnie ran over and covered my mouth. I bit him really hard. "Stop! This isn't supposed to happen."
* Anne
I agreed with Ronnie when he suggested this. We have talked extensively with him going legit and how we needed to make lifestyle changes. One thing would be to move upstate and resume life but in a different way.
We were in the middle of round two of our love making when he got the phone call from John who told him what happened. I understand why they would call him but I am her family. Savannah is my sister and she has been shot? But they call my husband. That right there numbed the pain of yet another accident regarding Savannah.
Upon the trip that it took us from getting to the hospital, I started to formulate a plan. If Savannah is going to keep up with these charades, she is going to get killed and I don't like it. Ronnie has mentioned there are ways to ensure her safety and that is to go on the lam. Of course I hadn't a clue what that meant but after he explained it to me, I agreed with him.
Going on the lam entails zero communication with any counterpart of the underworld. Most people that go away flip, but we decided that we wouldn't do that to them. Ronnie still loves the guys but he wants to make sure he is going to be safe.
I have told him that I didn't want to move without her when he suggested this plan. We were going to wait until we got back to talk with Vans but this sped up the conversation. Ronnie mentioned that we could be retaliated against and that made me nervous. I want to be able to walk down the street again.
Vincent is obviously in love with Vans but I am worried for her safety. Look at everything that has happened and I won't even get into the amount of threats that I have received. The day of our wedding, I got a detailed picture of Savannah and I dead and in a ditch. The next one was similar but we in the trunk the car and each of these are hand drawn too. Ronnie freaked out over this and almost called off the wedding but he didn't want anyone to know that something was happening.
We are moving to ensure our safety and everyone's. Most people won't agree with what we are doing but I don't want to go to another funeral. Vans has lost enough people and she doesn't need to worry about her own life.
Checking her out of the hospital was easy. Since I am her emergency contact, they didn't question me.
"Hi, may I speak to the charge nurse?" I asked sweetly to the woman nurse who just left Vans' room. She is plump woman who is starting to go pepper and salt in her hair; but I wonder if this job has aged her faster than nature did.
The nurse snorts and looks over at a giant white board. "Yeah, I will go get Julie," she spins and walks off to the back.
I begin to pace a little in the hallway while I tried to gain some peace. My emotions are out of whack and I am nervous as hell that this won't work. It has to.
A large African American woman comes from the back with a pretty face. She stops in front of me and thrusts her hand out. I place mine in hers and my hand is swallowed up. "Hi, I am Nurse Marie. What can I do for you?"
With a deep breath, I launch into a partial lie. "Hi, I am Anne Thomas-Rossi. I am the contact for Savannah in room four oh three," I wait for recognition. "I would like to discuss removing her from this hospital and bringing her to one closer to our home."
Marie gradually nods her head. "Where is this hospital?" I give her the address and she nods some more. "Okay, we have a sister relationship with that hospital in the area. You do know that she won't be able to fully check out for a few days, right?"
"Yes, of course. It is just closer to our family. Can we arrange to have this transfer be done today?" I am prepared to offer money if it is needed.
She secures her pony and looks me over as if she is thinking hard. "Well..."
Time for the kill. "Would a donation to your department suffice?" I make sure to say a price because I want to negotiate.
The nurse looks to the left and fiddles with her wedding band. "Yes, that could work. How much of a donation and I can reserve the helicopter."
"Five hundred thousand and it will be delivered in a money order by the end of the day." I stay in my poker face stance.
"Deal. We can have her on it in an hour."
I hold my hand out to shake her hand and she shakes mine. After she leaves me, I walk back towards my husband. I am feeling so much lighter.
"How did it go, honey?" I feel his body heat seep through my clothes.
"It went well. We are making a donation of five hundred thousand via money order."
He kisses my neck and wraps me into a hug with our fronts pressed together. "Good." I shrug and burrow farther into him. "We are doing the right thing. Everything is going to work out, beautiful." I shrug again and let the tears flow. "I'll make it go away, baby."
*Savannah
"Sorry, she is tripping off of her pain killers!" Anne said as they pushed me into the elevator to go up to the port.
"Please, Bella! Don't let them do this!" I was almost in the process of hyperventilation as I was begging. The high that I had from the painkillers has faded off and I feel real pain. I hate this feeling and it seems as if the drama that follows my relationship with Vincent causes me more pain than being shot.
"You need to calm down, its okay, mi bella!" Bella called out to me as she walked over to and then climbed in the helicopter and I am brought into it. I tried to get out of the bed but they had me locked in.
Everyone that was in my room came into the helicopter and that is a lot of people. I couldn't look at anyone as the copter flew off. My tears started to flow as it hit me that I was leaving New York and Vincent behind.
I stared at Lea Sophia after Anne and Ronnie sat down on the side with the paramedics. I waited for her to feel the sting of my stare. Finally, she turned and looked at me. I gave her my puppy dog eyes.
"What's going on?" She asked as she squatted down next to my bed. Lea Sophia has a small vice that sounds like a music box which is very soothing.
I gave her the "come here" gesture with my finger and pulled her closer to me. "I really don't know you. However, I beg you to please get a hold of him. Did Vincent do this?" My tears started to flow harder as I revisited the pain from when he threw me away the first time. A weight crushed my chest and my heart felt like it started to beat slower and slower.
She looked at her mother and Bella nodded at her. "No, he didn't. However, if you stay with him you will be shot. The Dice didn't drop the hit." She pulled out her phone and sent a typed message. She put the screen right in front of my face: "He loves you too much to do this. This was Rossi's idea."
The helicopter sped up and Lea Sophia went to sit back down with her daughter and a smile on her face. I gave her my look of hope as I started to sob again and she winked at me before sending a message on her phone. With the blanket now pulled over my head, I let myself cry to sleep. Hopefully, I will wake up and everything will go back to normal.
Chapter Thirteen * Vincent
"Hey, your sister is texting me. They just landed," Leo was talking to me as I am pacing my great room. I could smell her scent in my nose and I kept expecting to turn around and see her walk in. The floor boards cracked and I turned to see Sammy.
"Fuck." And no, I didn't hide my disappointment.
"Where would they go to? Why is your family still with her?" Leo asked as I took out my phone. "Oh, wait! He got left a house in upstate!"
I was already dialing my mother's number and when she picked up the phone, I felt like I was going to freak out. "Mom. Where are you?"
"Vincent, I can't really tell you, mi bello. We are in upstate and she is fine. Ronnie told her that it was best for you to break up so she wouldn't get hit. Did you say that?"
The air whooshed out of my chest as I feel the breath stolen from within me. I didn't th
ink that there was pain worse than when I pushed her away. I have had her back a week and this bull shit happens. I am killing someone. No one better get in my way. Anger has cursed through me as I think of what to do. "No! Why would I say that? I just got the contract dropped! Now he takes my woman like he... I don't even know! Let me speak to her. Tell her its someone else and that it is private. Ask everyone to give her some privacy."
"Okay, angelo." I heard her ask everyone to leave the room. "Hey. Her lawyer is on the phone," I heard the phone rustle and the door shut. "Here she is."
"Hello?" Savannah croaked into the phone. She sounded so sad and I just died inside with the intense feeling of rage that flooded through me.
"Baby doll," I breathed into the phone. The name I gave her when we first met slips out of my lips before I can stop them. I shouldn't be allowed to use that nick name. All I have done is mess up everything.
"Vincent?" She whispered into the phone.
I tried to not get choked up as I answered her. "Yes, its me."
"Where are you? Why did you let them take me again?" She sounded so out of it but lucid at the same time.
I am surprised that there is even a part of my heart left but there is. I know this because everything in my chest cavity feels like it has exploded. My words that came to my tongue to be spoken were harsh and unfair for me to use. She has gone through enough and doesn't need to listen to my harsh tone. "Rossi took you. I am going to come get you. Baby, I will come for you don't worry." It wasn't her fault that this has happened so I tried to speak as even as possible. Rossi is getting a hell of a lot worse than words. He will be lucky to go home to Anne when I am done. I have the sudden urge to make him a few feet shorter.
"Can you come today? I am in pain," she whined into the phone.
"I will be there before you know it. Then you and I are going to go some place where we can be together."
"As what?" I could hear her sobbing into the phone and my mother speaking in Italian to her.
"I will marry you, Savannah. I will see you soon," I hung up the phone because I heard Rossi in the back ground. "Let's go. I want you and you to be ready in fifteen minutes because I need to handle this business!" I yelled at Sammy and Leo. "Rossi is dead to me. He took my woman and is trying to keep me from her. This is bull shit."
"All right!" They both agreed and went into the guest room to pick up both of their over night bags. They came down the stairs with my bag too.
"Let's go."
In my bag I know what I will find. Four full automatics that will get any job done. Time to get my girl and get rid of this problem.
Chapter Fourteen * Savannah
We were at the new hospital for a day. Vincent's family left and now Ronnie and Anne were taking me to his home. The neighborhood is so damn beautiful and it looked like rich people lived in The Hills. My mouth was hanging off the hinges as I looked at these big houses with big pools.
Since moving to the Manhattan area, I became accustomed to how rich some people are. Those people spent their money on houses on islands and sent their kids to expensive and exclusive private schools. Upstate New York is a whole different world. These people spend their money on their properties along with expensive private schools.
Along the drive to the area, I must have seen about ten or twenty advertisements to private schools. I knew they existed but I guess I never paid this much attention to how many there truly are. A boring ride in a car will give a person the time to notice these things.
"Girls, I am going to start you a new company over here. So you can work in this area. There are already two listings," Ronnie told us as he pulled into a driveway. The house was a red brick, and had a pool fence in the backyard. As Anne helped me out of the car, I looked around. This house was beautiful and big. Must have cost his family over half a million.
I reached into my pocket and finger the phone that Bella had given me before she left. She whispered in my ear to take care of Vincent. I smiled and hugged her as carefully as I could considering my wound. I am not ashamed that I started to cry a little as I realized that they were leaving. All three of them were very nice and I want some sort of relationship with them.
Ronnie gave us the tour of the house and the phone felt heavy in my sweat pants. I didn't know if Vincent knew that I had the phone or not until it buzzed.
Desperation courses through me as I wondered if he texted me. I wanted it to be him because this situation is just absurd. If I weren't in the middle of this, I would have called the storyteller a boldfaced liar.
"Where is the bathroom?" I ask as I bob and weave trying to show a great amount of interest in finding it.
"Right down the hall and to the left." I followed his directions and as soon as I was around the bathroom wall, I pulled the phone out.
Vincent: I want you to pretend that we broke up. Go on acting like you haven't spoke to me. I will be there shortly. I love you.
Me: please hurry. I'm lonely.
As I walked out of the bathroom, Ronnie took me to my room and I instantly fell asleep as my head hit the overstuffed bed. It felt delicious. Silk and satin spreads hugged my body.
*
I felt my hands move above my head and now they are secured. They were being tied with something strong that felt like a rope or something similar. As the blankets were being pulled down, someone was licking and rubbing the core of my body. I opened my legs expecting something... to happen. The lick became a nibble and traveled down my legs, avoiding the area that I am needy, and then back up but stopping between my thighs.
A hand traveled over my stomach and gripped onto my right breast. A mouth has now taken its place in between the meeting place my thighs. My back arches off the bed as I try in vain to seek more of the mouth. Hot breath floods over me and I instantly begin to shake. My breaths come harder and faster as I am taken farther over the edge.
The tongue picked and separated my sex. As the tongue worked its way up to my clit, I grabbed onto the handrails to steady myself. My mouth opens and a scream floods out. Two fingers are inserted into me and my body convulses around them.
Almost as if a freezing bucket of water is dumped on me, I am pulled out of my dream and brought back to reality. I try to hold onto some remnants of my dream, but it is not Vincent who I see.
"Vans! Are you okay?" Anne came rushing into my room and jumped on the bed. "You were screaming."
My body is still buzzing and humming from my orgasm and I begin to wonder if Vincent is just hiding. "Where is he?" I choked out. That dream was so real that I could still feel him in between my thighs. There isn't any possible way that it could have been a dream, right?
"Who? Where is who?" She asked as I sat up in the bed and looked at her with confused eyes.
"Vincent," I whispered and felt tears prick my eyes. "He was just here. Wasn't he?"
Ronnie hovered in the door frame and had a crazy look on his face. "Come on. We are going to a ball. You both have dresses and there is someone here to help do your hair and makeup."
Anne smiled and looked at me with questioning eyes. I almost wonder if she is torn between being on my side or her husband's side. She is playing this very carefully and I begin to think she might have had something like this planned before it actually happened. She and Ronnie are very secretive which is something that I am not used to since Anne and I used to share everything.
Tears again flood my eyes as I realize that it was just a dream and I am truly in this new place without Vincent. How can tears still be forming? Before, I always thought that tears weren't unlimited and you only got a certain amount per situation. Well, my theory has been blown out of the water. "I don't want to go! I was just shot three days ago and now you want me to go out? No! Fuck you, Ronnie."
"Savannah!" Anne screamed and grabbed my arms as my hands shook from the amount of anger that was filling me. "I know this is hard for you, but it is what is best."
"No, I can't believe this Was that even legal?" Wait, speakin
g of legality. I am an adult and no one had a right to sign me out of the hospital. "How did you get away with that anyways?"
At least she had the decency to smile shyly like she was afraid of me. "I told them that you were my sister," Anne whispered and climbed off the bed and walked towards Ronnie. "Let's go."
I chucked my pillow at the door and pulled out my newly acquired phone. Within thirty seconds I had Vincent on the phone. Maybe if I squeeze my eyes tight, I could conjure him up and have him here.
Those actresses in movies have it made happen and its totally not fair. Something bad happens to them and the audience already knows that everything is going to work out in the end with some sort of Happily Ever After.
