Surrogate Lover Page 15

by Clara Reese

Charlotte starts to come with a trembling rush. She grips the bed head and jerks her hips towards me, ramming me against the pillows. I feel her clit shivering and her pussy trembling as the orgasm comes rolling, crashing down on her.

I reach up eagerly with my mouth, desperate to taste her. She sags on top of me, sobbing breaths shaking her whole body as the orgasm rocks through her body.

She falls down next to me and with a quick tug, releases the scarves. She puts her arms around me, and I cuddle into her sweaty chest, letting her stroke my hair as our breathing starts to slow down.

For a few moments we lay in the dark stillness, not paying attention to the light or noise that exist beyond this room. In here, it’s like an eternal night where there is nothing to do except be together, pleasuring each other.

She cradles my head and pulls me towards her. I open my mouth and press my lips to hers, moaning through the kiss as she leans into me. Once again, she’s pushing me into the pillow and it making me so excited, I can’t think.

She rolls over on top of me, pinning my hands again as she starts to writhe on top of me. The feeling of her pussy sliding against mine makes me thrash and open my legs, begging for more. She lets go of one of my hands and reaches down to rub my clit and I buck up and down so hard I almost send her tumbling off me.

She sits up and looks at me, running her hands gently over my breasts. I reach up and touch her face, amazed at her beauty and her spirit.

I’ve never met anyone who could turn me on like this. I’ve definitely never known anyone who makes me feel this safe.

I sit up and pull her towards me, kissing her aggressively. She responds with her own dominance and we push against each other, hands starting to run over each other’s bodies as our tongues fight it out.

I get my arms around her waist and pull her tight against me. We fall back on the bed, Charlotte on top of me. I keep my arms wrapped around her, keeping her pressed tightly against me. We both writhe and our sweaty skin makes us slide against each other. I wrap my legs around her and grind against her and she breaks off the kiss to moan and pant into my ear.

I hold her even tighter, feeling something, I’ve never felt before.

  Possession.

“Mine.” I whisper into her ear. “Mine.”

She gasps against me, our bodies getting hotter as more orgasms build between us. I grind myself against her and through my ragged gasps I hear her voice.

  “I love you, Katrina.”

Tears threaten me but I just reach up and grab her hair, bringing her face down to mine. She meets my tongue with hers and the kiss deepens as we both come together, shifting our bodies against each other to get the most out of the friction and pressure.

She slides down beside me and for a few seconds we both pant, unable to even move. I can’t stop touching her and move over, wrapping an arm around her waist so I can feel her skin against mine.

As our breathing begins to settle, we wrap up even tighter in each other’s arms, enjoying the magic between us. I honestly have never been so happy.

All I ever wanted was to be safe, truly safe. I thought it was something I couldn’t have. I got used to running, I got used to the toll that fear takes on you.

The whole time, I didn’t know. I was running towards the only thing that could make me feel safe. Something I couldn’t have imagined.

  True love.

“No, no, no. I don’t like that green, it’s not rich enough. Where are the samples again? I’m sure it was a different one we saw last time.”

I catch Katrina’s eye over the wedding planner’s head and we grin at each other. Gabby, Dawn and Patricia are helping us plan the wedding, and Gabby has gotten very invested. Privately, I agree with her, the green wedding invite ribbons are not in the same green that we picked out some weeks ago, but I know I don’t have to say anything. Gabby’s got it covered.

“Hang on a minute. Isn’t this the wrong font?” Patricia chimes in. I turn to glare at her but it’s too late. Gabby rises up and lets out an anguished sigh as she turns to me.

“See, Charlotte. This is why I said we should have an invite making evening and just do it ourselves.”

I nod in amusement, deliberately avoiding eye contact with both Katrina and Janet, who are sitting side by side on the couch, shoulders shaking with suppressed giggles. Since I asked my three best friends and honorary sisters to be joint maids of honor, Gabby’s enthusiasm for wedding planning has been rivalled only by Ben’s as my best man. Really, I shouldn’t have bothered hiring an actual wedding planner. They’ve got everything covered.

Right on cue, Ben comes barrelling through the door. “Do you think ice sculptures are too 2008?” He demands of the assembled room. “Someone said they look too 2008.”

Gabby gasps. “Ice sculptures are totally classy if they’re done right!” She is outraged.

Ben nods vigorously. “That’s what I said!”

I blink in confusion. “Um…guys? We’re having ice sculptures?”

They both look at me pityingly and start talking about the flower arrangements. I hear stifled laughter from the other four women in the corner. I look over at Katrina and mouth “Help!” as she gives me the thumbs up and grins.

Dawn asks a question about the flowers and Patricia chimes in with her opinion on lilies. I smile as I look at my little group. I don’t know how I’d have coped without any of them. My three sisters, Ben, Janet, and most of all my darling Katrina.

My reflection is interrupted by Janet’s voice across the room. “Charlotte. Katrina appears to be in labor so I think we should go to the hospital. Are you coming?” She says it in her usual calm way, so calm in fact that the subject matter doesn’t immediately register until Gabby screams, “Charlotte! Go!”

It hits me. Today’s the day. We’re going to have a baby. Oh god.

It pains me to say it but I’m fairly useless right now. It seems that having a baby is not at all like securing a big business deal. Janet tells me to get the hospital bag and I’m flustered beyond belief. Then, I somehow forget the way to the garage and Ben has to physically push me into the car where Janet and Katrina are already waiting.

At least I’m making Katrina laugh. The others wave us off and I reach forwards to grip Katrina’s hand. This is it, the moment we’ve been waiting for, for so long.

At the hospital we’re shown into a private room and I help Katrina ease onto the bed. She smiles at me.

“It’s happening,” she whispers as I kiss her forehead tenderly.

“I know,” I reply. “I’m so, so proud of you.”

“I haven’t done anything yet!” she jokes, but she smiles and squeezes my hand in return. “Aren’t you glad I made us watch so many episodes of One Born Every Minute now?”

I’m not glad. And, unsurprisingly, the real deal is no less scary than seeing it on screen. I hold Katrina’s hand and wipe the sweat off her forehead as she groans and pushes. I hate seeing her in pain.

I’m so focused on encouraging her that it takes me a second to register the screaming is my baby. I sink backwards into a chair by the bed, stunned. We have a baby.

The midwife cleans her up and places her gently on Katrina’s chest. Katrina is crying happily and I hold them both close. My little family. My girls.

It’s several hours later when the doors finally open to reveal my sisters, Ben, and Janet. I admire the hospital staff’s determination to keep them out. I know they must have arrived just minutes after we did, and god help anyone who keeps those girls away from where they want to be.

Katrina has managed to have a nap and we have dressed our daughter in her first outfit. The visitors gasp as they spot her, lying asleep in Katrina’s arms. I see Patricia and Ben are already crying and hugging each other.

“Charlotte,” Patricia whispers, her voice breaking on the second syllable. “Oh, Charlotte. She’s just wonderful.”

  “Wonderful!” echoe
s the rest of the room, all misty eyed and grinning from ear to ear. I nod but find I can’t speak. The lump in my throat has gotten bigger since they came in, bearing balloons, teddies and a huge card. I wonder if they picked them up on the way but, knowing Gabby, this has all been arranged for weeks.

It’s Dawn who manages to speak next. “What’s her name?” she whispers in awe.

I clear my throat. “Chiara,” I announce to the room.

Beside me, Katrina smiles and nods. “Chiara Addison Monroe,” she adds.

Dawn sniffs and nods several times before replying. “That’s beautiful. She’s beautiful. Addy would be so proud of all three of you.”

I sneak a glance at Gabby, who’s strangely quiet. Her shoulders are shaking slightly, and she has the sappiest look on her face. I don’t think I’ve seen her this quiet in all the time I’ve known her.

Janet is standing beside her, arm around her shoulders. They beam at each other, pride and joy so evident on both their faces. I smile and turn back to Katrina.

“We were talking about who we want as godparents,” I announce casually, and the atmosphere in the room changes. Katrina grins at me. We both know that Ben is confident that he’ll be chosen as best man, but the girls have all been vying over who will get to be godmother. It’s the moment of truth.

“It’s just such a hard decision, you know,” I muse, enjoying the impatience rippling through the room as I take my time. “And you all have such good qualities. We’ve spent hours debating whether to choose Patricia or Dawn, Gabby or Janet. It’s just so hard.”

“Yeah, yeah, get on with it,” Janet demands impatiently, to laughs around the room.

“Okay, well, we’ve decided…” I pause for dramatic effect until Dawn implies that she’ll throw her shoe at me unless I continue. “We’re going to make all of you godparents!”

Katrina chimes in. “Chiara is going to have more godparents than anyone in the world! Ben, Patricia, Gabby, Dawn and Janet.”

The cheering is so loud that the nurse comes in to frown at us all, but, mercifully, Chiara sleeps straight through it. Janet and Gabby hug each other, and Ben claps his hands excitedly. Dawn hastily wipes away tears, but Patricia is wailing openly as she hugs first me and then Katrina, careful not to squash Chiara between them.

We spend three days in the postnatal suite before I can finally take my girls home with me. As we step into the penthouse, we smile as we spot the ‘congratulations’ banners hanging across the fireplace. There are gifts scattered in front and our friends are all sitting around sipping champagne and waiting for us to arrive.

They cheer as we enter and it’s my turn to go misty-eyed. I truly don’t know what I’ve done to earn such a wonderful family.

That evening we all eat dinner together, high on excitement…and in Katrina’s case, sleep deprivation. Katrina tells everyone her other exciting news, that she has applied for and been accepted into a pre-med course starting next fall, when Chiara will have just turned one. It’s the first step in Katrina’s dreams to become a doctor, and is the cause of another round of champagne and toasting.

I look around the room, full of love for everyone in it. It wasn’t long ago that I thought my life would never have so much joy and laughter again, and now look at us.

Ben and Patricia pass Chiara back and forth between them, debating over who she likes more. Dawn asks Katrina questions about the course she’ll be doing, and what area of medicine she wants to specialise in. Gabby laughs at something Janet says, touching her lightly on the arm as she reaches over the table to get more noodles. I squeeze Katrina’s hand under the table, sighing with utter contentment.

  It’s good to be home.

And our family is only going to get bigger. Katrina and I have agreed to work on adopting another child, from Vietnam.

Having a family with Katrina makes me happier than I ever knew I could be. I will do anything for my family. Forever.
