“I don’t want to do anything to Avalon,” I state quickly. I miss Av, I want her to be around.

“She is your friend, yes?” I feel like almost a trap coming my way. Kelsey was fine with Avalon until today, I’m hoping that she has gotten over her little jealous tantrum at Av’s show.

  I nod.

“Okay,” Kelsey smiles again and I’m not sure where this is going or whether that was a safe admission. “Do you think he is putting on an act for her or is he really showing who he is? Do you think she is safe around him?”

“An act, he is a psycho,” I growl. “And no, one day he will break.”

“Well, a good friend would not just give up with only one try, would they? If she didn’t believe you when you told her, maybe, we should show her? Make her see past whatever she sees in him.”

“What?” I stare down at her imagining how the hell she will be getting this show on the road and just to whom it will be happening to. “Get him to bash me in front of her, yeah right. I like my face as much as yours.”

Something in Kelsey’s face hardens for a mere millisecond. I feel like I have said the wrong thing. I open my mouth to try and fix it.

“No,” she draws her nails lightly down my arm. “I mean show her that he isn’t trustworthy, that what he says is not always true, put a wedge in there that will only grow and grow and grow.”

Having Avalon on my side, away from him is very appealing to me, it would mean I get Kelsey as a girlfriend and Fingers as a close friend… and if something changed between Kelsey and I… well… who knows.

“It sounds like something a good friend would do,” I paraphrase her previous words.

“It is,” she nods with a smile. “I would totally do it and have done it for my friends, and they have been very thankful to me for it. I have done it before back in the states, showed a friend what a cheating cad she was dating. No one likes to be the fool.”

Sam walks past me with a plate laden with delicious smelling snacks. He narrows his gaze but moves in to find a space within the group of a few of Avalon’s friends. I feel snaked.

“How?” I ask her my voice hard.

“Do you trust me?” Is all she says in reply.
