Under Siege (Eternal Flames Book 10)

"Just don't shoot Destrain's men, they are coming in from your right."
Wade, Snake, Six, and Flyer began to fire, as fiery arrows lit up the sky from behind them. Figuring it was the people Rory had just told him about, Wade continued to focus on the ones in front of him.
Wade and his men took out about twenty when it seemed the fairies started to get the hang of the weapons Wade and his men were using and started to adapt. Wade would shoot, and the fairies seemed to be able to zig zag away from impact of the bullets.
"These fuckers are smart, Commander," Snake shouted as he continued to fire his weapon.
A large man with dark hair walked between Wade and Flyer. "I'm Squad leader 2, Drake. My men and I are here to help."
"Thanks, but you might want to call in for reinforcements," Wade said, still shooting.
"My men and I can take on a thousand fairies," Drake insisted and shifted into part-man part- scorpion with wings.
"What the fuck are you?" Flyer gasped.
Drake turned to Flyer. "Griffion."
Wade turned his gun to the left and shot. A large Girallon fell, but got back up. "That's nice, but it seems the Girallon found a new leader and between them, the fairies, and whatever the hell else we are fighting, I would say some more men might be a good idea, whether they are Griffion or not."
"Move left!" Rory shouted into the coms. Wade grabbed Drake and dropped to the ground, turning and firing.
"Fuck me, that's a minotaur, Wade. You just fucking killed a minotaur," Rory gasped in Wade’s com link.
Licking his dry lips, Wade rasped, "Yeah I can see that, Rory."
"Flyer, three o'clock!" Rory shouted.
Flyer started firing as arrows ripped through the air and barely missed their intended target.
"Fuck me, that was too close, Commander. Thanks, Radar," Flyer replied, shooting back at the fuckers that had just damn near turned them into shish-kabob.
Drake stood, shooting his arrows from a bow Wade had never seen the man have in his hands, yelling out, "Kipu, contact Pelt and tell him we need reinforcements now!"
"You need to cause confusion, Commander. They're using systems. The fairies have figured out your system and they adapt. Six, to your left!" Radar shouted just as a green flying fairy dropped next to Six and started to slash side to side. Six hissed, ignoring the large cut to his arm, dropped backwards and used a leg sweep to take the fucker down. Six pulled a knife from nowhere, twisted to the side, and brought the damn thing down in the center of the fairy's throat.
Wade shouted, "Six, you and Snake get in that arsenal of yours and bring the attachments."
Six jumped to his feet, quickly making his way to his vehicle and grabbed what the Commander asked for, just as a seven-headed dragon flew by with a three-headed orange and yellow phoenix.
Seconds later, more dragons and phoenix came in and a real battle began. Phoenix and dragons fighting creatures Wade had never seen in his life, mixed in with fairies. The Griffion were battling the Girallon as Wade took on a fairy in hand-to-hand combat. The prick hissed, "Humans have no place in this battle. You are nothings. Weak pathetic nothings."
Wade snarled placing a roundhouse kick to the fucker’s face, the fairy flew onto his back and Wade quickly straddled him with raised his fist, snarling, "This nothing is kicking your ass." Slamming two quick jabs to the bastard’s face, Wade heard the man's nose break and knew it had lodged in his brain, killing him instantly.
Jumping up, Wade picked his gun up yelling, "Where are those fucking attachments?"
"On it, Commander!" Six shouted just as Snake grabbed one of the attachments and slapped it on.
"Snake has flame," Six said, holding out the rest.
Wade grabbed his. "I have laser. Flyer, you stick with gunfire and Six―"
"Oh yeah, I get artillery launchers. Nice!" Six said with a huge grin.
A loud squall had them all looking up and seeing six fairies on Ozcog, Six pointed his weapon, yelling, "There's no fucking shot, Commander."
Wade looked at Drake. "Cover me, while I help Ozcog."
"Men, we cover Wade until I tell you otherwise!" Drake ordered.
Aiming his weapon to the group of fairies, Wade carefully used his scope and zeroed in on one and then another green glob, using the red-dot single-fire Wade pressed the trigger. The laser hit its target each time, taking out one, then another, and another. Ozcog was released and the gargoyle began to fall.
York swooped in and caught Ozcog, gently bringing him to the ground. Three fairies were almost on him when York opened his mouth and blew. The three dropped to the ground in a block of ice, wiggling to get free. Flyer lifted his M4 and opened fire. The fairies were no longer moving.
"Son of a bitch, how many of these fuckers are there?" Snake snapped, lifting his weapon and firing into the air. Flames shot out incinerating two as Wade aimed his M4A1 slicing three more fairies in half with his laser.
The trees to their left started to move and large giant beasts appeared. "What the fuck are those?" Six shouted while aiming his weapon and firing three shots off. The explosion took out two of the giant creatures and fire billowed from its targets.
Tiny sparkles of light began to fall from the sky and one hit Flyer's arm. He hissed in pain as fire began to travel up his arm. "Fuck! Shit!"
Dropping his weapon, Flyer pulled off his bomber jacket and quickly lifted his rifle. Birds with long necks and legs flew overhead, dropping what looked like fire raindrops from the sky. Everything the damn flames touched lit up fast and burned extremely hot.
"They are benu. They were created by the sun. Their wings deposit fire drops," Drake explained as he continued to shoot arrows at the oncoming fairies and benu.
Wade was shooting at the fiery birds when he heard Flyer grunt. Shit, Flyer was going to be seriously pissed when all of this was over. He loved that damn jacket. A movement coming around the corner had Wade aiming his weapon prepared to shoot. "What the fuck?"
Spike, at least Wade thought that was the name Timmy gave him, came puttering towards them. Even with the bullshit going on around him, Wade couldn't stop himself from snickering. The poor thing was dressed in footie PJ's like York's, but this one had a bunny tail and ears. He might have looked like a bunny had the creature not had large quills poking out of the material. Spike then lifted his tail and slapped it left then right. Quills struck the fiery birds and they quickly dropped to the ground―dead.
"Holy shit!" Wade gasped.
Timmy ran to Spike who was standing in front of Flyer, as if in protection mode. It was the craziest sight he had ever seen. Timmy bent to pick up Spike. The porcupine began to make a growling-type bark. Timmy quickly plucked the critter off the ground. "Spike, don't talk that way, we have to get inside. King Suneth and the others need us."
Wade made sure Timmy made it inside safely, thinking how right the little gargoyle was, King Suneth needed them all right now. Nothing was going to happen to his mate. Wade would make sure of that or die trying.
CHAPTER 12
Timmy rushed inside with a very angry Spike. He knew that Yorkie was going to be upset that he had not stayed in the house, but there was no way Timmy could leave his babies unprotected in the barn. So he had raced inside the house and hit the button that would lower his perching Chimera into the house and turned to race back to the barn.
Timmy then opened the gates to the stalls, and led Lollipop the Llama out, then turned to his English mastiff, saying, "Get Spike, Chomp, Butty, and Blossom, Charlie. We have to hurry."
Timmy gathered the rest of his animals together, picking up his newest addition to his family that Yorkie just gave him whispering, "I'm so sorry your party had to end this way Puff, but it's going to be alright. Yorkie and the others will keep us safe.”
Starting for the door, Timmy softly said, "We don't have time for your silliness tonight. We're under attack and we need to get to the house."
Racing back to the house, arrows flew around him and hi
s animals. Penelope and Pickle, his two pigs, squealed, but followed Timmy without incident. Spike took off and Timmy shouted for him. Knowing he had to get the others inside, Timmy opened the door and gently placed Puff inside. "Charlie, get them inside to safety, I'm going after Spike."
Rushing in the direction that Spike had run, Timmy gasped when he saw his porcupine defending Flyer like he was. When the quills flew out of his butt like that, Timmy couldn't believe it. Everything he had read said that porcupines didn't throw their quills. They would lodge them into their enemy and the quills would burrow inside. Whatever the case, Timmy knew he had to get back inside before his Yorkie could see him.
Before even getting inside, Timmy could hear Charlie barking, Chomp bleating, and the others were not silent either. Rushing inside, Timmy looked around, nervously asking, "What's wrong?" Then he heard a noise in the upper level of the house.
"Someone's in the house," Timmy softly said, knowing no one should be moving around right now, since Ozcog was outside fighting the intruders and his king, Sylux, Nuzan, and Asbuth would still be in perch form. "Charlie, stay here with the others and keep them safe."
Slowly, Timmy made his way upstairs. He could hear things crashing around and knew that whoever was up there was looking for King Suneth and the others. The only thing was they would never find him or Sylux, Nuzan, and Asbuth, because they were in a safe zone.
When Twix and Rhys had created his home next to the barn, they had shown him his perch. York had suggested that safety glass be put around him in case of an emergency. Timmy could see out, but no one could see in. They then did the same to the main house, so whoever was here was out of luck.
Timmy's eyes widened. "Unless the find the emergency switch!"
Picking up speed, Timmy made his way towards the king's suite. It was a new section Twix and Rhys had created for Sunny and Wade's mating gift.
Stopping at the main perch room, Timmy made sure Sylux, Nuzan, and Asbuth were okay. A soft thud had Timmy slowly making his way to Sunny's area, and he drew in a quiet breath when he saw five fairies in the room. Three were trying to break the glass dome surrounding his king and one was tossing things left and right, while another pulled picture’s off the wall saying, "There has to be a fail-safe switch here somewhere."
Timmy would have stayed in hiding, but the one pulling the pictures from the wall was too close to finding the switch to the emergency release of the dome. Timmy jumped out yelling, "Get away from my king!"
The three fairies turned ready to do battle, then one smirked. "Oh, isn't he just the cutest little thing. All dressed up in those adorable bunny pajamas."
"He even has a tail and footies," another fairy said with a smile.
"Can I keep him, General?" the first one asked.
"Alaneo, stand down," the General ordered as he turned to Timmy, saying, "We only came for the jewel. Just hand it over and we will leave without incident."
"Yes, little bunny foo foo, give General Tatum the jewel," Alaneo said with a smile that didn't reach his eyes.
A low growl and bleating sounds came from behind Timmy. He knew that Charlie, Butty, and Chomp were behind him and Timmy actually felt slightly better, yet fearful his babies would get hurt.
"What the hell is that? Who brings goats into a house?" Alaneo asked with a snicker.
The other fairy laughed. "No, Alaneo, they aren't goats and a dog, they are hybrids. Bunny mixed breeds."
"Timmy, just give me the jewel," the General urged once more.
Timmy eyes widened when the man used his name. How did he know his name? Not wanting to get distracted, Timmy put his questions to the side and licked his suddenly dry lips, saying, "I'm not going to help you take something that isn't yours. Go away. I don't want to have to hurt you, but I will if it means saving my king and family."
Another of the fairies laughed. "You hurt us? What do you think your pets in costume and you can do to us? Last time I checked a bullet was very good at stopping any animal, and in case you haven't noticed, it is five against one and not only do we have weapons, but we also are much bigger and stronger than you are. Now, hand over the jewel!"
Timmy shook his head and took one step back as two of the fairies started to move forward. Timmy's voice shook with fear as he said, "Please don't make me hurt you. Just go away."
Timmy moved from one foot to the other, trying to remember everything Yorkie had been teaching him about controlling his gift. He still had accidents every once in a while, especially when he got scared, but he was getting better with it each day. Not enough for him to trust himself without his mirror sunglasses Ollie had given him, but right now he would do the deep breathing exercises his Yorkie had taught him and focus on the enemy.
The two fairies lunged forward. Timmy was ready and pulled his sunglasses from his eyes just as fast as they moved. Both men were mere inches from Timmy when they turned to stone.
"What the fuck?" Alaneo gasped.
Timmy quickly put his glasses back on, sniffling, "I didn't want to have to do that. I tried to warn you. Now all of you just go."
Alaneo and the other fairy came at Timmy. He went to pull off his sunglasses, but this time he wasn't quick enough. Alaneo grabbed Timmy's hands while the other lifted Timmy off his feet, hissing, "I am going to kill you for what you have done to my friends."
Timmy wiggled trying to get free, but they were too strong for him. A snarl and bleat were the only warning any of them got before both fairies screamed in pain and Timmy was dropped to the ground.
Looking up, Timmy saw Charlie had one of the fairies locked by the neck, ready to rip out the fairy's throat, while Chomp had Alaneo by the butt, lock-jawed and not giving any signs of releasing the bad man. Butty bent his head, scraped his hoofed foot on the floor and charged forward, slamming his horns into the sternum of Alaneo. Timmy turned to see the one they called General raising his weapon to fire on Charlie. Ripping his sunglasses from his face, Timmy screamed, "No!"
The General turned to Timmy and immediately turned to stone. Timmy yelled for his babies to get back. Charlie and Chomp backed off as Timmy did the only thing he could do. He stood up and looked at one fairy and then the other, turning them both to stone as well.
Timmy was crying, whispering, "I didn't want to, but you made me.”
"You did what you had to do, Timmy, and I am grateful for it," Suneth quietly said from behind Timmy.
Not thinking, Timmy turned around without putting his sunglasses back on. Suneth looked away before their eyes met, saying, "Timmy, please replace your sunglasses."
"Sorry, Sunny," Timmy whispered sadly.
Timmy looked at one of the statues, saying, "General Tatum said that he wanted the jewel of resistance. Is that why we're being attacked?"
Sighing heavily, Suneth replied, "We're under attack?"
Nodding, Timmy replied, "Yes and Yorkie and the others are out there now. My orders were to stay and keep you and the others perching safe."
"And you did a great job at that. Tell me what the situation is while we check on the others."
Charley barked and Suneth looked over asking, "Timmy, why are Chomp and Butty in the house? And why are you and your animals all dressed like rabbits? What are those fairies doing in my quarters? What the hell is going on?"
Timmy's lower lip trembled as he explained, "Like I said, we're under attack, Sunny. Everyone is outside right now fighting them. I couldn't leave my babies alone. And we're dressed like this because Yorkie helped me put together a pajama party for Puff, our newest addition to our family and we wanted him to feel at home so we all put on our bunny PJ's and were going to sleep in the barn with him."
Suneth did his best not to laugh. He just was trying to picture the big bad ass dragon shifter dressed in a white bunny outfit with a fuzzy tail and floppy ears.
The front door burst open and someone shouted, "We need help down here!"
Suneth took off to the stairs just as Sylux, Nuzan, and Asbuth rushed out of the main p
erch room. Asbuth asked, "What the fuck is going on?"
"We're under attack. You three go through my chambers and help the men outside. I'll go see what's going on down there," Suneth ordered and started to move, then stopped and turned. "And check on my mate! Nothing is to happen to Wade, Asbuth."
"I will guard him with my life, sir," Asbuth replied with a nod and quickly went to do as his king ordered.
Rushing down the stairs, Suneth yelled out, "Report!"
"It's Ozcog, Suneth. He's alive, but just barely," Jett explained.
Finn was standing at the window looking out. "We need to get back out there."
"Ozzie, shift and perch!" Timmy begged as he cried and ran to the man.
Nodding, Suneth replied, "Timmy's right. Jett, Finn help me position him."
Jett and Finn each grabbed one arm and Suneth held him from behind, they got Ozcog to his knees then Suneth ordered, in the way only a king could, “Ozcog, shift and perch!"
Seconds later, Ozcog was stone.
Standing back up, Suneth looked at Jett. "What is going on out there?"
"We were doing patrol when we noticed an unusual storm coming in this direction. Finn and I realized that it was some crazy ass portal, because of the shimmering it had in the center. We contacted Illan and warned the others. It didn't take long for some of the craziest shit to start coming out of the fucking portal," Jett explained.
"The pixies had warded against Fallon and his people coming to Crystal and Maddox. How the hell did they get past the wards?" Finn asked in frustration.
Shaking his head Suneth replied, "I don't know. We need to take care of the current threat, then we can figure out how this happened."
Nodding, Finn replied, "You're right. Jett, we need to get back out there. King Suneth, you should stay inside until the threat has passed."
Suneth raised his brows. "You cannot be serious? My mate is out there, and I will not sit in here like some damsel in distress. Timmy, you stay here and watch over Ozcog and keep your animals from completely tearing up our home."
