The Good Doctor

We all have some bumps and bruises on the outside, but the police have given us a number to a counselor as well. Isabel and I both promise to make appointments first thing in the morning. You can never be too careful in these types of situations. There is no telling what lasting mental damages there will be for Sophie and Isabel from their years of mental and physical abuse. As for me, I will sleep peacefully at night knowing that my girls no longer have anything to fear.

None of us wanted to be away from each other, so we all decided to sleep in my room. Once Isabel and Sophie are settled, I can’t help but replay the events of the night, going through the ‘what ifs’ and the ‘what could I have done betters.’ I don’t want to disturb the girls, so I head down to Isabel’s room in hopes that I may get a little sleep once my nerves have settled.

Around One A.M. Isabel walks right in and wraps her arms around me, pressing her face into my back. I can’t help but lean into her touch.

“I almost lost you both today,” I whisper, more to myself, than to her.

“I’ve never been so scared, Adam. I didn’t know what to do.”

I turn swiftly and kiss all the pent-up emotion coursing through me.

“Please don’t ever leave me. I would be lost without you,” I say against her lips.

She pulls back just enough so she can look into my eyes.

“I was lost until you found me.”

Today is the day we move into our new house. I helped Mommy and Daddy pick it out and made sure it had a big back yard.

I got to pick out my room and the paint color! Daddy let me pick the blanket and sheets for my bed too!

Mommy smiles a lot more and sings even when there’s no music on. We have dance parties and sometimes go for walks when Daddy is at work. We even visit Daddy at work and talk to a nice lady on a different floor.

Daddy showed me the school I will go to soon for Kindergarten and takes me to the park on his days off. I love Daddy, and he tells me he loves me every day.

Mommy, Daddy and me are like Team Umizoomi. Best Friends that like to help people together, forever.

  ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Thank you for reading The Good Doctor! Please take the time and write a review, and maybe even share it with a friend. Every time we get a review, an indie author gets their wings. Trust me we are all on our way to hell so getting wings is a HUGE deal.

This story was a long time coming. I started writing this about five years ago while my husband was out to sea. After getting Craze out, the characters of The Good Doctor started to talk to me once again, so I knew it was time to finish their story.

To my amazing PA, Angela Evans, who has ridden my ass to get this finished and putting in too many man hours scouring Google and YouTube for me, thank you is not enough. I promise to clear your browser history if you die though. I couldn’t have done this without you, seriously.

To my editor, Jenny Dillion from Rather be Reading and my proofreader Amanda Hill from Mad as a Hatter Editing and Kayla Bellamy, your words of encouragement and your help in making the words flow, I can’t thank you enough. I love you from the bottom of my kinky, dirty heart.

To Author Abby Gale, not only did you beta read for me but you also formatted. Mr. Jaxon really appreciates you not cutting my tits off and I greatly appreciate your hard work.

To Author Jessica McCrory, for taking me under your wing and showing me how NOT to do Facebook and Amazon ads, maybe I’ll sell some books this time.

To all of my beta-readers: Kayla Bellamy, Nicole Townson Brown, Jennifer, and Courtney Swinson. You ripped this baby apart, making sure that I had my shit together before publishing. I can’t express how much I appreciate your honest feedback. Your asses are stuck with me now, get used to it!

The most important thank you of all goes to the readers, I couldn’t do this without you.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Raised all over the country, I'm an interesting mix of East Coast meets West Coast with a little bit of Southern thrown in, just for good measure. I married a sexy man in uniform who let me spawn and am now raising a mutinous army of hell raisers that I created myself, all while he defends our country. I drink too much coffee until it's late enough to drink too much wine and is sexually frustrated for your freedom. If you see me online, I'm probably sitting in a closet, hiding from my kids. I'm sarcastic, love a dirty alpha male, and love to laugh.

I never thought I would be a writer; it was never an interest of mine. But when the voices start in and won't let you sleep, you write so they STFU and leave you alone for a while.

If you would like to be notified when I release new works sign up here. I would really love to hear from all of you! Feel free to contact me via any of my social media sites.
