Phillip heard the dial tone in his ear and a slow smile lit his face. She was amazing! No matter what he did to her she came back saying the right words to deflect his shield. He wanted to see her so badly that he was having a very hard time sleeping at nights! But he had to make her realize that this was not a relationship! Wasn’t it? The voice taunted inside his head. She was right! When he touched her that first time he had been shocked at the reaction of his body to hers! When he entered her, he had been bowled over by the way she made him feel! It had doubled each time he touched her and he had done his best to avoid being with her. He had never felt this powerfully overwhelming passion before and he was afraid that he was losing control of everything! When he was around her he could not think straight and he could not stop touching her! He groaned and put his hands into his hands, his body shuddering as he thought of her!

  *******

Allison put on a cheerful face as she walked around the room making sure that everyone had a full plate. Elena had done most of the cooking. They had gotten a friend of her father’s to come and take him out for the day so that they could make the plans and the arrangements. The turkey had been based and stuffed and the greens had been prepared as well as the Cole slaw and potato salad. There were also fried chicken and since she had past her first trimester she had been able to eat meat to a point. But she had been hoping against hope that he would show up! She laughed when she was required to do so but missing him and needing to see him was driving a hole into her heart.

She jumped a little as Elena came and put an arm around her shoulders. “You are needed in the kitchen honey.”

“What’s wrong?” she asked looking around the kitchen. The food had been shared and the tidying up had begun.

“You are pining honey,” Elena put the baking tin into the sink and then turned to her. “You are smiling and laughing and pretending that you are having a ball, but it is not working. You are missing your man.”

“According to him he is not my man,” Allison said wryly as she folded the dish cloth.

“But you think different.” Elena deduced. “We women are always able to set them straight about stuff like that. It’s funny that they are able to close a huge business deal but when it comes to affairs of the hearts they are such idiots.”

Allison laughed at that. She had confessed to Elena about her feelings for Phillip and had told her that she wanted more.

“Take matters into your own hands and go to him.”

Allison looked at her startled. “I cannot do that.”

  “Sure you can.”

“What if he is not there?”

“Then you turn around and come back home. Pack an overnight bag honey and go.”

Allison told herself that it was not a good idea. It was a disastrous one and even if he was there he was probably there with another woman and as determined as she was, that would crush her! But she packed a bag and told her father where she would be and headed out. It had gotten dark and the ride would be more than an hour. Several times during that time she almost turned around. But she continued. And when she got to his gate she pressed the buzzer. She knew he had cameras showing him who was at the gate and to her surprise it swung open to admit her. She drove up the cobbled driveway until she came to the front door. She got out and taking her overnight bag she walked to the front door. It swung open and there he was!

  Chapter 8

“I know you said you had plans but I needed to see you-“ she let out a startled cry as he pulled her forcefully into his arms and pushing her up against the closed door he lifted her up against him and closed his lips over hers. Allison wrapped her hands around his neck and dug her fingers into his thick dark brown hair, her body humming with pleasure and desire!

He lifted her up and carried off into his bedroom where he slaked his thirst over and over again until they were both exhausted!

  *******

It was approaching midnight when he woke up and saw that she was not on the bed next to him. He frowned slightly and got up, reaching for his robe to put on. He looked for her in the sitting room but she was not there and then went into the other bedroom to see her standing just inside the large elegant room with the light blue walls.

“What are you doing in here?” his deep voice caused her to jump. She turned around and faced him. His hair was tousled and she remembered raking feverish fingers through the thick strands as she straddled him and he fed off her nipples.

“I was thinking that I need to start decorating the nurseries. If it is two boys then we will keep them together and put the girl in the room next to them.”

“I already have someone I am going to use,” he came further into the room. “Don’t concern yourself about that.” His voice was arrogant and she bristled.

“They are my children Phillip and I am going to have a say in what their rooms look like.”

He clamped his hand around her arm and brought her closer to him. “No you don’t,” he said bitingly.

She spread her fingers over his warm chest and felt the beating of his heart. “Stop trying to push me away. It’s not working.”

He let her go and stepped back. “Go to bed.”

“No. We need to talk.” She told him stubbornly.

  “We don’t actually.”

She sighed. “We need to start thinking about names-“

“Stop it!” his voice thundered around the silent room. “I am attracted to you; I am not going to deny that. My body craves yours for some reason and I am not going to deny it. But that is where it stops. We have an arrangement together and you are going to honor it or I am going to sue you. I am going to take those children from you and make sure you never see them again. Do you understand me?”

“You bastard!” she whispered. He closed his eyes as she ran from the room and slammed the door shut behind her.

“Dammit!” he exploded as he ran his fingers through his hair. He had hurt her and she had caused it.

He waited a few minutes and then went to find her. He found her sitting on one of the sofas curled up with her head propped up on some cushions. There were tears on her cheeks and he felt his heart melting. “I don’t want to talk to you.” She told him huskily.

“Tough.” He got down on his haunches and faced her. She was so damned tiny and all he wanted to do was to take her into his arms. “You have ideals and I get that Allison. You think you are in love with me but you don’t know me so how can that be possible?”

Her dark brown eyes met his and she smiled slightly. “You are wrong. I do know you Phillip. You are tough because you have to be in business and more than likely your father wanted you to be like him to survive in the business world. You don’t have to be that way with me. I am not out to get you, I am not out to be there because of the money. I don’t care about that-“

“And yet you took it.” He said cynically.

She flinched and lifted her chin. “I took the money because I needed it and I would do that again. “Your opinion of people sucks.” He smiled slightly at that and she continued. “I know that you are the best lover in the world barring none and I will never let another man touch me except you. I know that carrying your children is the best thing after loving you. I know that I will never love anyone the way I love you. I know that no matter what you say to me-“her voice broke and the tears fell. He swore beneath his breath and with a swift movement he gathered her into his arms and went into the bedroom where he placed her onto the bed. He started to move away but she held onto him and he gathered her into his arms and wrapping his arms around her he held her while she cried.

  *******

“You bought me a car?” Allison stared at shiny black Nissan at the front of the door the next morning she went outside.

“I was not going to risk something happening to you while you were driving that heap.” He said gruffly. He had woken up to see her preparing breakfast and had drunk the coffee and ate the eggs and bacon. He had made slow passionate love to her and
she had fallen asleep in his arms.

“I owned that car forever! Paid for it with my first salary,” she wandered around the sleek car and ran her fingers over it. “Thank you. Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day, how on earth did you manage to do all this in such a shirt time?”

“Money paves the way,” he told her with a shrug. “I have a meeting in a few hours. I will drive behind you.”

She came over to him and going on her toes she wrapped her hands around his neck and bringing his head down she kissed him full on the lips. He opened his mouth helplessly and her tongue darted in. He shuddered and wrapped his hands around her waist bringing her closer to him.

He was beginning to get used to this! He was beginning to get used to her being in his arms and when she was not they were starting to feel empty. He put her away from him forcibly, his heart hammering inside his chest as he stared down at her. One hand reached out and tilted her chin up. Her eyes were shining and her lips were parted. He used his thumb to wipe her bottom lip and let it linger. He was hard as the proverbial rock and all he wanted to do was to take her back inside and sink himself deep into her! He bent his head and his mouth ravaged hers. He stumbled back, his grey eyes stormy. “Go,” he said thickly.

She nodded and almost ran to the car. She sat there for a minute trying to get her body under control before she touched the start button. With trembling hands she guided the steering wheel and drove around the circular driveway. She adjusted her mirror and noticed that he was right behind her. With a smile on her lips she pressed gas and speeded up with him following her!

  *******

He missed her! He blinked at the admission. He had walked into his office and found that he was finding it incredibly hard to stop thinking about her! He had come downstairs and saw her in the kitchen making breakfast and the picture had appealed to him and made him wish that it could be something permanent. No matter what he did or say to her she never gave up and he was afraid that she was wearing him down. He had told her he had plans and he had lied and when he had seen her at the gate, his heart had leapt inside his chest that she had come! He looked at his lap top screen broodingly. He had meetings to prepare for and yet here he was sitting and thinking about her. The small bundle of energy had somehow wormed herself into his life and was making herself indispensable! What the hell did that mean?

  His intercom sounded. “Yes?”

“Your mother is on the line.”

  “Put her through.”

  “Mother.”

“Hello Phillip. How are you?” she sounded formal and distant and he knew that it was due to the argument they had a few weeks ago. He had not been back to see her since.

“I am fine. How are you?”

“I thought you would have come over for dinner yesterday.”

She was always trying and he felt his mood softened. “I had other plans. You had people over?”

“Just a few friends. How about dinner on Sunday? That is if you don’t have plans,” she finished hastily.

  “I will let you know.”

  ********

The dream came when she was five months pregnant. She had been to the doctor and had been given a clean bill of health. “You are young Allison so you stand a very good chance of carrying these children to thirty two weeks.” She had started to get bigger and her ankles had started swelling. She had started the courses but realized that she was falling asleep more frequently and feeling lethargic. She dreamt that Doctor Whittingham was delivering the children and when both their sons were delivered she saw the concerned expression on the doctor’s face and realized that something was wrong! “What is it?” she asked him.

“Your daughter, something is wrong. I am afraid she is not going to make it.” She turned around and looked for Phillip and he was not in the room. She jumped up, her heart racing with his name on her lips. Allison sat up on her pillows and realized that it had been just that a very scary dream that felt very real. She placed her hands over her belly and felt the movements inside her. It was all becoming real now! And she was scared! She looked at the time and saw that it was almost one. Biting her lip she reached for her phone and dialed his number.

“What’s wrong?” his voice sounded alert and she wondered if he had been asleep at all!

  “I had a bad dream.”

  “Allison-“

“Please Phillip. This is serious.” She told him about the dream.

“The dream is not real because I have every intention of being there.”

“What if we lose one of them?”

  “We won’t.”

“How can you be so sure?”

He sighed. “Allison, the doctor said everything is fine.”

“I wish I was with you,” she fretted. It had been two weeks since she had seen him but she had seen where he had been out of the country for several days.

  “Go back to sleep.”

“I cannot do this by myself Phillip. I am scared.”

“You were the one who said you were not going to leave your father by himself.”

“He is not by himself anymore. Elena is here. I want to live with you.”

The silence stretched for so long that Allison wondered if he was going to respond. “Okay,” he said softly.

Her heart slammed into her breast. “Did you say okay?”

“Until the children are born.” He told her firmly.

  “Thank you Phillip.” She whispered.

“I will send a car for you.”

“No, that’s fine. I will drive myself.”

  “Tomorrow?”

“Evening. I have to break the news to my dad.”

“Okay see you then.” He hung up and Allison stared off into the darkened room. She was going to live with him. It was one step closer to where she wanted to be and she was never going to leave!

  *****

“Honey are you sure you know what you are doing?” Abraham Roberts asked his daughter soberly as they sat around the breakfast table eating the grits and eggs she had prepared. It would be her last meal with him in this house right now and she felt weepy.

“No,” Allison said with a laugh. “I just know that I have fallen in love with this man and I want more than anything for it to work.”

“If he has not fallen for you already what makes you think it is going to happen?”

Allison scooped up the grits and put the fork into her mouth before responding. “It has happened already but he is too stubborn to admit it.”

Her father looked at her for a moment and then smiled. “You are going to point it out to him, I suppose.”

“Exactly.” She nodded as she poured him some more coffee. “Don’t worry about me, I will be fine.”

“That’s like telling me not to breathe. You are my baby girl.”

“And I am going to be a mother soon,” she sighed softly. “I wish Grandma was here so I could ask her how she did it.”

“You are strong and determined, I am betting on you.”

“I am going to miss you, Dad.”

“I will check on you every day as soon as I know how to use that fancy phone you bought me.”

Allison laughed at that. “Elena will show you.” She looked at him curiously. “You like her a lot, don’t you?”

“She is a good woman.” He said with a smile. “She makes me laugh and we can talk about anything.”

“I won’t feel bad about leaving you because she is here.”

“I wish you all the best honey.”

  ******

His heart raced as he thought about going back to his place and seeing her there. He had wanted to say it to her for a long time but he had hesitated. He told himself that it was because he wanted to closely monitor the growth of his babies but it was more than that. He was not having a very good time sleeping without her in his bed. He had been very busy over the last two weeks with the opening and several buildings he had acquired that he intend to renovate with the idea of selling them. He had gone home to his now
empty feeling house and found it very hard to settle in and get some sleep and it was due to her. She was everywhere! In the kitchen preparing breakfast and mostly in his bedroom, on is bed. He called his home and the housekeeper answered. “Mrs. Graham please make room in my closet. I am having someone over who will be staying with me for a while.” If the housekeeper was shocked that he had called her directly or that he was having someone over to live with him she did not say anything. “Yes, sir. Should I prepare lasagna?”

He frowned a little bit wondering if she ate that. “Of course and please order a bouquet of flowers for the dining room as well.”

  ******

“I told you it would work,” Elena said smugly as she helped her friend put the clothes into the suitcase. “Very soon you are going to become Mrs. Phillip Anderson.” She wrinkled her nose at an old blouse that Allison had taken from the drawer. “I am afraid this has seen its days honey.”

“It’s one of my favorites!” she protested.

“And you are going to be living with a billionaire. Buy yourself some new clothes. You have the money for it.”

“You are right.” She looked at the clothes she had packed. “I have had these for years now. I am going to order me some clothes, something that he would want to see me in.”

“That’s a girl,” Elena said approvingly. “Just these,” she picked up a few items of clothing. “And of course these sexy nightgowns.”

“I am afraid that my days of looking sexy are over for now.”

“Nonsense! You can still manage to look sexy even if you are as big as an elephant,” the woman said with a cheeky smile.

Allison threw some clothes at her and she ducked. “Enough fooling around, let’s get to work.”

  ***********

He had told her the code to let herself in and she had done just that. The housekeeper had already left by the time she got there but the smell of the delicious lasagna lingered inside the kitchen. She made her way into the bedroom and saw the open closet realizing that space had been made for her things. She wandered in and stared in amazement at the amount of clothes and shoes there. Her eyes passed over his shirts and she could smell his expensive scent inside the large room. She could not believe how much her life had changed. She was living with a man who owned half the world or maybe not half but close to it! She loved him so much! She thought dreamily as she went back into the bedroom. She knew it was not going to be easy convincing him that it can work between them but she was not going to give up! He was night and every morning when he was home and she was going to show him that he did not want to live without her.
