  He called Leesa while he was at the office to make the plans. “How do you feel about planning a wedding?” he asked as soon as she answered the phone.

  “I would say you are asking a damned fool question.” She retorted.

  He laughed at that. “How soon can you do so?”

  “What’s the hurry darling? She has already been knocked up –“

  “It’s a surprise and I don’t want her knowing about it.”

  “A surprise wedding! I love it!” she exclaimed.

  “I thought you would. Money is no object.”

  “Darling I already knew that and I was already thinking of going all the way.”

  “Can you get Monique and the others on board?”

  “Already done. Darling it’s about time.”

  “When do you want this for?”

  “The first of April.”

  Allison had no clue what was happening. She had stopped thinking about Phillip proposing to her and had decided to be happy the way they were. He was a devoted father and made sure that they were well taken care of. He would come home from the office and spend time with the children. He had hired a nanny after grueling interviews and was thinking of hiring another one. The days flew by fast and she knew absolutely that she was born to be a mother! She would sit in the children’s rooms and breastfeed them and watch them sleep. Bella was a feisty one and would be up at all hours but the boys were easy and slept throughout the night.

  She got the call in the morning. “How about joining me for lunch?” Phillip asked her.

  “The babies-“

  “Will be fine. I want to have lunch with you. I am not sure I will make it home for dinner.”

  “Okay.”

  It was a beautiful Saturday and the ice had thawed from winter leaving the place looking green and fresh. The pool had been uncovered and the gardeners had gotten to work making the place look lush and beautiful.

  As soon as they were sure that Allison had left, everyone descended with Leesa and Kelly leading the way. The wedding was being held indoors in the large sitting room to the east of the house. Cars were parked up the road to avoid Allison seeing anything and becoming suspicious. Phillip would be keeping her for about two hours for them to set up and then when she got home she would be kept busy with the children in their bedroom. The nanny and housekeeper would have the excuse that they both needed to run into town.

  She fell asleep with the children on the king sized bed and did not wake up until an hour’s time to find that they were still next to her wide awake. She looked up as Bertha came into the room followed by the housekeeper. “We are here for the children.”

  “I have to go take a bath anyway. Thank you.” She looked and saw that it was almost two p.m. They had not left a few minutes after Phillip came into the room. I was thinking we have dinner together.” He said softly.

  “Lunch today and now dinner?” she lifted her brows at him. “What’s going on?”

  “Nothing much. I just realized that with the coming of the children I have been neglecting you.”

  “You have,” she got out of bed and going on her toes she wrapped her arms around his neck.

  “How about we take that bath together?”

  “Aren’t we a little overdressed for dinner at home?” she asked him as they left the room. He had picked out a shimmering off white dress with thin straps and a dip at the back for her. She had no idea she had even possessed something like that! Her hair was pinned neatly on top of her head and he insisted on her wearing the drop diamonds he had gotten her recently.

  “No,” he tucked her hand through his and led them towards the east sitting room. He opened the doors and Allison stood there stock still as she looked at the people seated there. An arch had been made with garlands of flowers and a minister was standing there with a smile on his face.

  “Phillip what’s going on?” she asked as she turned to look at him.

  Her eyes went wide as the handsome inscrutable man went down on one knee before her. “Allison Isabella Roberts would you do me the extreme honor of becoming my wife?”

  Allison felt her heart lurch and for a moment was too clogged up to speak. “Yes,” she whispered.

  “Thank goodness!” a stunning woman draped in rich red silk clapped her hands and came towards them. “Welcome to your wedding darling. My name is-“

  “Leesa Wellington,” Allison looked around the room in a daze as she recognized most of the faces. The famous wives of the famous husbands who belonged to Phillip’s club! Her father came forward and held out a hand.

  “Places everyone and the music please. Phillip go and take your place and let us get started.” Leesa said with a smile.

  Allison felt her legs trembling as she made her way up the aisle with her dad, her fingers clinging to his arm. Elena waved at her and she could see her children dressed and in their prams at the front. Bella wore a beautiful pink taffeta dress with a pink bow in her curls and Luke and Nathan had on suits that matched the grey one their dad was wearing. This could not be happening! She was getting married to the man she loved!

  The vows were said with him telling her that he would take care of her and be there for her as long as they both shall live. He slid the exquisite diamond set onto her finger and they fitted her perfectly and she slid the simple gold band onto his. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her thoroughly. Then they were pronounced husband and wife!

  Chairs were cleared for dancing as soon as they had finished the sumptuous meal and taken bites of the delicious white chocolate mousse cake and as she stepped onto the dance floor with her husband’s arms around her. She had met the rest of the wives officially and their husbands and had gained so many friends that she could not believe it! She had learnt that her husband had asked the wives to plan her wedding. She stared up at him, her eyes shimmering as she tried to stop from crying. “I never had a clue,” she whispered hoarsely.

  “That was the idea.” He told her gently as he caught a teardrop with his thumb. “I wanted to do something special for you, for us. I wanted to show you rather than tell you how much you mean to me. I love you Allison.” He said simple, his voice tender. “You put up with so much and never once gave up on me. I have never known anyone like you and I want you to know that I love you more than I think it is possible to love another person. You gave me a family and hope in humankind. You brought me close to my mother,” he looked over to where the woman was sitting with her grandchildren and holding Bella in her arms. “You have given us so much.”

  “I can’t-“she was so choked up with emotions that she could not continue. He stopped the dance and taking her hand he called for their attention. “My wife and I would like to start our honeymoon a little early.” He smiled at the round of applause. “Just please continue to enjoy the party.”

  He carried her into their bedroom and closed the doors behind them. He sat on the sofa and cradled her in his arms as she cried into his jacket.

  “Hey,” he lifted her chin when she was done. “Okay now?”

  She nodded. “You love me,” she said in wonder.

  “I do.” He smiled at her whimsically. “You made it impossible for me not to and I am so happy you did. I will sometimes to being the disagreeable jerk that hurt you in the past-“

  “I don’t care,” she whispered. Her hands framed his handsome face. “As long as you love me.”

  “I always will. I was thinking Bora Bora or Bali for our honeymoon.”

  “I have never been anywhere,” she whispered.

  “I am going to make up for that.” He got up with her in his arms. “I think we should get started right now.”

  “I would love that,” she whispered through her tears.

  He gently took off her clothes and showed her how much he loved her!
