“A lot of distance,” he snarled. “You should probably run.”

A wide smile pulled at my lips as I looked into his eyes, the heat of his fire magic dancing in their swirling grey depths.

“Give me a ten second head start and don’t use your gifted speed,” I murmured.

  “Why?”

“Because you’ll catch me too easily with it and that’s not really the point, is it?” I challenged.

“No promises,” he growled and my smile widened.

“Start counting then.” I backed up and he locked his jaw, refusing to play along.

I laughed as I turned away from him and ran down the stairs. My heart pounded with the game as I raced down flight after flight, gripping the handrail and swinging myself around on each level before racing down again.

I laughed as I ran, adrenaline flooding my limbs as I raced on and on. Cain’s heavy footsteps soon pounded after me on the levels above. I glanced up between the railings just as he looked down and the hunger in his eyes had my heart thumping harder as I was captured in his gaze.

I gasped and ran faster, my footsteps and heavy breathing blocking out all other sounds. I kept going, feeling Cain drawing closer behind me with every step.

But it wasn’t in my nature to run from a fight and the Alpha in me was begging to turn and meet him.

As I made it down to level nine, I rounded the steps and pressed my back to the wall as his pounding footsteps drew closer.

Cain rounded the corner and I snarled as I leapt at him, my shoulder colliding with his chest as I aimed to knock him from his feet.

A bark of laughter escaped him and he absorbed my blow like a pro, whirling us around to make use of my momentum as he grabbed my arm and twisted me away from him.

I stumbled back but before I could leap at him again, he shot forward with his gifts, catching hold of my waist and lifting me clean off of my feet before slamming me back against the wall.

His gaze met mine as he bared his fangs and I growled right back at him. His hips pinned me in place and I wound my legs around his waist, locking my ankles behind his back and pulling him closer.

He snarled hungrily and I panted in his arms for several seconds before tilting my head aside to give him access to my neck.

Cain groaned with undisguised lust as he lunged at me and I cried out as his fangs pierced my flesh. His body crushed me against the wall and I arched my back to press my breasts against his chest as he fed, reaching out to run my hands over his muscular body.

He caught my wrists with another flash of speed and slammed them against the wall either side of my head as his body continued to press against mine.

I moaned at the heady feeling of him drawing my blood and magic from my body, shifting my hips so that the firm ridge of his dick ground between my thighs.

“Di Più,” I demanded breathlessly. More.

Cain groaned against my neck as he shifted between my thighs, grinding against me, sending flames of desire racing through my flesh.

I flexed against his grip on my wrists, wanting to touch him, to explore his broad frame but he wouldn’t relent, using his gifts to keep me immobilised at his mercy.

Footsteps sounded behind us and Cain stilled, pulling his fangs from my neck and dropping me suddenly so that my legs fell from his waist.

My blood stained the corner of his mouth and he glared at me in a clear warning to keep my mouth shut.

“Erm, sir?” Hastings’ voice came from behind him and I offered him the dirtiest smile in my arsenal before dropping my gaze to the huge bulge in his pants.

“If you try to run from an Officer again, you’ll get more than a bite for it, Twelve. Do you want to spend a week in the hole?” Cain snarled at me.

“No, sir,” I said in my most innocent voice, biting my bottom lip.

He growled at me in warning before snatching my arms in his grip and spinning me around so that my back was to him and my wrists were pinned at the base of my spine. He whirled us to face his colleague and I fought a smirk, knowing full well why he was holding me in front of him like that. I couldn’t say I’d ever been used as a boner shield before, but it was pretty damn hilarious.

I pouted as I looked up at Hasting and he cleared his throat uncomfortably. I was willing to bet he’d noticed the way my legs had been wrapped around his boss’s waist as he damn near screwed me up against that wall, but my choir boy didn’t have the balls to mention it. I guess Officer Cain had been too deep in the bloodlust and plain old flesh lust to listen out with his bat ears for anyone sneaking up on us.

“What is it?” Cain demanded angrily.

I flexed my fingers and brushed them down the hard length of his erection behind me and his grip tightened in what could have been a warning for me to stop or just plain shock.

“Warden Pike has decided to change the Order Yard time to now,” he said. “Just a heads up, before-”

A distant bell started ringing and I couldn’t help but smile at the announcement of Order time. We’d only been up there yesterday evening and it was never a guarantee that we’d get to go again the following day.

“I’ll escort Twelve up then,” Cain announced.

“Are you going to heal this shit on my neck?” I asked petulantly as Cain twisted me away from his colleague and shoved me towards the stairs.

Hastings watched us go with a look on his face which said he almost wanted to say something, but he turned and hurried away again without a word.

Poor little choir boy, afraid of the big bad Vampire.

As soon as he was gone, Cain hoisted me off of my feet and shot to the top of the stairs toward the elevators that led to the Order Yard. He spun me to face him before we left the stairwell where the cameras couldn’t see us and leaned down to glare at me.

“I already told you, I can be a really good friend to you, Officer,” I purred as I looked up into his eyes.

“We aren’t friends,” he snapped. “I’m your guard and you’re my blood bag.”

“Do you get a hard on for everyone you bite, or am I special?” I asked, drawing closer to him.

He pushed me back a step so that my spine hit the wall and his palms landed against the bricks on either side of my head as he stooped down to glare at me.

“You’re not special, Twelve. You’re a number. And a means to an end. Don’t go thinking this is about anything aside from how powerful your blood is.”

Instead of cowering like he wanted, I shifted closer, so close that our breaths mingled and my mouth was just a tip of his head away from a kiss.

“You don’t need to keep warning me, Mason,” I said, my blood heating from the way his eyes flashed with rage at the sound of his name in my mouth. “But next time we play your game, maybe we should do it somewhere really private. Just in case you’re tempted to break a few more rules?”

“You’re deluded if you think I’d ever fuck an inmate.”

“Okay,” I replied innocently, my gaze dropping to the bulge in his pants.

Footsteps were pounding closer as the rest of the convicts made their way up to join us.

Cain snarled as he backed away from me, not so subtly rearranging his dick to try and hide his arousal from everyone else.

I was super convinced that he didn’t desire me beyond my blood.

He pointed towards the elevators and I slipped away from him without another word, waiting for the doors to open.

Cain turned away from me with his jaw ticking and I couldn’t help but smirk to myself. He clearly thought he was still in charge of this situation, but I was taking the reins from him inch by inch and he’d be my own personal pack mule before he even realised it had happened.

The other convicts began to appear and I found myself surrounded by the inmates from Cell Block B. My pack started to arrive but Sin made a beeline for me as soon as he appeared, snarling at them to warn them back. I offered a smile to let them know it was fine and set my gaze on the Incubus as he approached me.
/>   “I’ve got a surprise for you when we get up there, wild girl,” Sin said in a deep voice that had me trailing my eyes over his muscular frame.

I seriously had no idea why he’d ever make use of his shape shifting powers from the point of view of getting people to lust after him. The guy was lust, his voice alone had my stomach writhing with excitement and the few times he’d touched me, my flesh had come alive for him. Not to mention the fact that he looked like a Demigod poured into a slice of I’m-gonna-have-double-of-this.

He moved to tower over me and I raised my chin to hold his dark gaze.

“Is it your dick?” I asked. “Because you keep trying to give me that surprise and my answer hasn’t changed.” Although as my gaze trailed over him, I was beginning to wonder if I’d been right to make that decision.

Is it a full moon or something because I’m feeling way too hot today…

Still, I got the impression he’d never had to work for a girl before so this would be character building for him. And if he put up a good enough fight then I might even let my judgement slip at some point.

“Well, it does always surprise girls with just how big it is,” he said thoughtfully. “But I’ve been working on something a little more to your specific tastes.”

  “Is that so?”

The elevators slid open all around us and I backed into the closest one. Sin stalked after me, his eyes alight with all kinds of dark promises and my pulse elevated as I wondered just what he was thinking.

Some of the other convicts began to follow us inside, but Sin growled in a low tone that had the hairs lifting along the back of my neck. He didn’t even turn to look at them, didn’t so much as raise a hand, just growled like a damn monster and sent a group of the world’s most hardened criminals scuttling away like ants.

And fuck if that just didn’t make him hotter.

“You’re such an ass,” I murmured as the doors slid closed, leaving us alone.

The Order Suppressant antidote fell over us and I sighed as my inner Wolf was released from her chains.

“Funny thing is,” Sin began, stalking closer to me. “I can taste lust on the air all around you. Which must mean that you quite like me being an ass.”

A smile blossomed on my lips and I inched closer like I was going to share a secret with him. “You might just be right,” I breathed.

Sin’s eyes lit with excitement at that revelation but before he could reply, the doors slid open and I ducked around him, jogging straight out into the building filled with lockers to deposit my clothes.

I kicked my boots off and shrugged out of my jumpsuit before Sin caught up to me again, knocking my locker door shut and leaning against it to halt my progress. I pouted at him as I stood in my white tank and black panties, waiting for him to move aside so I could get my Wolf on.

“I want to show you something before you shift and run off on me,” he rumbled, folding his muscular arms so that his tattoos stood out against his dark skin.

“And I want to shift and run off, so…”

“It’ll take five minutes to show you. If you don’t like it, you can run off to your heart’s content.”

“Thanks, but-” I shrieked as Sin lunged for me, scooping me off of my feet and throwing me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

“Five minutes. You’re gonna like it,” he growled as he strode straight out of the building and into the jungle to the north side of the dome.

“Put me down!” I snarled, wriggling against his grip as I tried to figure out how to play this. I could absolutely fight my way out of his hold and give him a good kicking to teach him a lesson too, but that wouldn’t really serve me well in the whole making friends tactic I was employing with him. But I also couldn’t let him push me around. I wasn’t going to get knocked off of my top spot by some peacocking sex addict.

“Shh, your complaints are killing the mood.”

“Seriously, Sin, I don’t wanna have to kick your head in but if that’s what it takes to-” Sin’s hand collided with my ass and I gasped in surprise as I clutched his broad shoulders. “Did you just spank me?” I snarled.

“Yeah. And you liked it, wild girl.”

I opened my mouth to protest and he did it again. The gasp that escaped my lips that time had the hint of a moan to it and I cursed as I found myself half wanting him to do it again.

“That’s not the point,” I growled and Sin laughed.

“If you’re into BDSM I can give you one hell of a party, especially with your earth magic to help us create a few things…”

A laugh burst from my lips too and I sagged forward as I gave up on fighting him. My hair swung back and forth beneath me in time with his steps and my gaze lingered on the curve of his ass which should not have looked that damn good in a prison jumpsuit.

The world suddenly flipped right way up again as Sin set me on my feet in a clearing surrounded by thick vegetation.

He smirked at me like a dog with a bone and I arched an eyebrow as I waited to find out what his surprise was.

“I’m not sure how much you know about my Order,” he said slowly. “But basically, once I’ve read someone’s deepest desire and taken on a skin, I can access it whenever I like.”

  “What does that mean?”

He smirked at me, running a hand over his face, but as he dropped it I found myself looking at Jason Mamoa instead of Sin.

I stepped back, cursing as I stared at him and he ran his hand over his face again, this time appearing as Dwayne Johnson.

“That’s…insane,” I said, shifting closer again and reaching up to touch his face.

It felt exactly like it should have, there was no way to tell it was an illusion. I’d known this coming in here but seeing it in the flesh was something else.

“Have your bones changed shape?” I asked as my brain tried to process exactly what I was seeing.

“I guess so. Never gave it much thought. Point is, it works.” The moment he stopped speaking, his features shifted again and I found myself staring up at Ethan Shadowbrook. “Do you know how many members of his pack lust after this guy? It was too easy to get hold of his skin.”

I withdrew my hands, frowning as Sin’s words came out of Ethan’s mouth. Hell, even his voice was Ethan’s - but it wasn’t him at the same time.

“This is too weird,” I murmured, stepping back.

“Don’t you like your surprise?” Sin asked cockily, hounding after me as I continued to retreat.

A fat silver beetle buzzed around my head and I batted it away.

“Change back,” I said with a frown.

“I thought you were into the pretty boy?” Sin asked, giving me a smoulder. “Think about it this way, you can play out all of your fantasies about him with me and you won’t be breaking any of your little pack rules. It’s a win win.”

“Ew,” I held a hand up. “That’s twisted. Besides, I make the pack rules so I can screw whoever the hell I like. And why would I want to be with you while you look like someone else?”

Sin growled menacingly, falling still in his advance and I realised that I’d just seriously insulted his entire Order.

“I just mean, I don’t want a fake version of Ethan. Or a fake version of you. If I’m with someone I want to be with them. Not some fantasy version. Change back,” I added, trying to fix my mistake.

Sin’s/Ethan’s brows lowered and he moved closer again. “Give me your hand.”

  “Why?”

He reached out and snatched it without asking again and I could feel the press of his gifts against my skin before he suddenly shifted back into himself.

I sighed with relief as I looked up at him but he only seemed to be getting more pissed at me.

“This is bullshit,” he snarled, looking down at his own arms. “What are you doing to block my gifts?”

“I don’t know what you mean.”

“Well, unless the real me just so happens to be your perfect fucking fantasy, you must be doing something
to stop me from getting a read on you. And as I can count the amount of times that I’ve been someone’s ideal fantasy in my Fae form on a closed fist, I know for a fact that you’re doing something to fuck with me.”

“Sin, I have no idea what you’re talking about-”

“Don’t feed me that horse shit.”

My lips popped open and I stared at him in surprise.

He lunged at me suddenly and gripped my upper arms as I felt his gifts brushing against my skin again.

“Stop it!” he demanded. “Sin, I promise you I’m not doing anything. Maybe you can’t get a read on me because I’m not attracted to guys based on looks alone.”

  “What does that mean?”

“It means that half of what I look for in a guy is that he’s a true alpha,” I snapped, shaking his arms off of me. “And the other half might be looks, but my preferences for that change pretty regularly. I like variety. And for the record, when you’re not being a total ass, I do happen to have fantasies about you just the way you are. So maybe you should stop doubting whether or not I prefer you as you, because if there’s one thing I know I don’t find attractive, it’s pretty lies.”

Sin stared at me for a long moment like he was trying to figure out whether or not he believed me.

“Bullshit,” he snarled eventually before turning and storming away.

My lips parted as I watched him go. Was he seriously pissed that I found him attractive as he was and didn’t want him dressing up as anything else for me? What kind of sense did that make?

“Who’d have thought an Incubus would have such massive insecurities?” I yelled after him. “And for the record, pouting like a little bitch when things don’t go your way isn’t attractive either!”

Sin raised a hand above his head and flipped me off without looking back. The trees soon closed around him, swallowing him up and I grumbled to myself as I turned in the opposite direction.
