My phone buzzes as I pull into the parking lot. Mom. “Hey, beautiful.”
“Hello, my son. How are you?” She’s the best. She hasn’t complained once since I’ve been staying with Ava, even though it cuts in on her time.
“I’m happy, Mom.”
“Good. We’re cooking out this weekend, can you join us?”
“I think we can, I just need to clear it with Ava.” I pause. “Can we bring her daughter?”
“Riley Ivan Pennington!”
“What?”
“I can’t believe you would even ask, of course, that baby can come. I’ve wanted to meet her for years. Just think, she may even call me grammy.” She sounds ecstatic.
“One step at a time, Mom.” I laugh.
“Oh, I know. Let me know as soon as possible and if Andi needs anything special,” Mom orders.
“Will do.” My phones chimes again. “That’s the other line. Talk later. Love you.”
“I love you,” she says. I hit end to see Trouble pop up.
“Hey, baby. Sorry, it was Mom.” I explain.
“Guess what, Ry?” Her voice quivers, the sound makes my heart race.
“What, baby?” My chest tightens with hope.
“Brannon just texted me and offered for Andi to spend the night. Can you believe it?” I think I can see her smile, it’s so big.
“That’s great, baby. When is she coming?”
“Saturday, if that’s okay? He said you can stay,” she blurts out.
“Good, that’s perfect. Mom wants all three of us over for a cookout Saturday.”
“Are you kidding?” A tingle runs over my body at her giddiness, it’s as if she’s bouncing, as her voice quivers with excitement.
“Nope. Wanna go?” I hold my breath, knowing this is a bigger deal than anyone else would have a clue.
“Yes!” She’s outta breath as she gives her bubbly reply. I think she may be twirling. “Thank you, Ry.”
“For what, baby?” I sigh as I’m totally smitten by this woman. She never ceases to surprise or please me.
“For being a part of this, my life.” My heart hums as her words race through my body. I become light headed imagining the brilliant light that must be radiating from her over her daughter.
“Awe, baby. Thank you for having me. I’ll text Mom. I’m so happy for you.”
“I love you, Riley.” She says in a breathy, light tone. “You make me better.”
“You were already the best,” I answer quietly. “I love you.”
“I’ll be home soon. We’ll need to have as much sex as possible before Saturday. I don’t think we’ve ever went an entire day without sex.” She laughs. “I’ll also need to think about getting Andi a bed.”
She’s as excited as she can be, and I’m thrilled for her. “We’ll figure it out, we have time.”
“Okay. I’m sorry.” She sighs. “I can’t believe this is my life.”
“No more sorrow, Ava.”
“I love you.”
“I love you, see ya soon.” She hits end, leaving me smiling like the Joker.
I send my mom a text, accepting her invitation and making her happy. These women are gonna make my face break with all this smiling. I start toward home and something dawns on me. I swing by the big box store and pick up a surprise for Ava.
Once home, I get everything set up as she walks through the door. Her eyes go wide as she breaks into a smile. “Riley?” She looks from me to the folding bed.
“For Andi. I thought we could let her pick out her bedding Friday or Saturday whenever we pick her up.”
“Friday, after school.” She stares at it for a minute before dropping her backpack and racing into my arms.
Her hands are in my hair as she wraps her legs around me. My hands find her ass as I pick her up. She kisses me breathless, making me weak in the knees. Releasing my lips, she begins kissing my face, every inch of it.
“I love you, silly girl,” I say between kisses.
She pulls back, gazing into my eyes. “I never knew love, until I met you. Thank you.”
“Damn, Ava, I love you.” I take her mouth, kissing her. Loving her.
Ava asks me to join her picking Andi up from school. The way Andi wraps around her mom makes my heart swell. She doesn’t even let go when she shakes my hand. “Hi.”
“Hey. Momma Ava says you’re sleeping over with us.” So much like her mom, straight to the big stuff.
“If that’s okay with you?” I ask with a quizzical brow
“It is. I’m excited!” she exclaims with wide eyes and a big smile. Ava laces their hands and leads her to my truck.
“Baby, Momma needs you to get in and buckle up, so we can go home.” Ava’s smile is endless. I think her heart is full and I’m pretty sure, these two girls just melted mine.
“Okay.” She kisses Ava and releases her. Once she’s buckled in, Ava slides into the seat beside me. Taking my hand in hers, I kiss the back of it. “Momma Ava?”
“Yes, baby?” Ava twists in her seat to look at her.
“Is Riley your boyfriend?” I hold my breath, unintentionally, waiting on her answer.
“He is,” she whispers. “Is that okay?”
“Yes. Momma Torrie and I think he’s cute, but she says not to tell dad.” Ava snorts, which makes me laugh that much harder.
“Well, thank you. I like pretty girls who think I’m cute.” I raise my brows as I look in the mirror at her.
“Are you gonna marry my momma Ava?” Ava gasps as her palm begins to sweat.
“As soon as she says yes.” I smile as Ava pinches my side, wrinkling her nose.
“He has to ask first, Andi. And we need a little more time to be friends,” Ava explains to Andi. “But how about we have dinner first, and then we can talk.”
We bought bed linens after we picked her up, and Ava got all weird when I paid. She’s starting to talk about getting a job again. I hate the thoughts of it, less time for us. After dinner, Ava helps Andi with her bath as I clean the kitchen.
Andi is a pleasure to be around. I’m in love with her. Ava combs through her hair, and I get her sheets from the dryer. Pink. So much pink on everything. It makes my chest feel heavy, and I have no idea why. Ava watches me closely as I turn my frown into a smile.
“Ummm, I need a shower,” Ava says.
“Okay.” I nod.
“Well…” She side eyes Andi and winces.
“We got this, shower. It’s ten or fifteen minutes.” I kiss her and settle in beside Andi while she watches a video on her iPad.
“I’ll watch him, Momma Ava.” Andi looks up to reassure her.
“Alrighty, thank you. I’ll go shower, quickly.” Ava winks at us.
We watch as Ava saunters into the bathroom, and when she closes the door, we glance at each other. For some strange reason, I get the feeling I’m about to be bought. I nervously bounce my knee as I chew on my lip. “So, what’cha wanna do?”
Andi’s face breaks into a huge grin, and I’m a goner. Fifteen minutes later, Andi sits behind me on the couch and I’m on the floor. Ava walks through, dragging her shirt over her still damp body. Her eyes lock on mine as she bats her hair outta the way.
Her eyes are as big as saucers and her mouth hangs open as she takes in my present state. “Hey, babe.” I smile.
“Please don’t move, I’m working here,” Andi says.
“Yes, ma’am,” I answer without moving.
Ava steps closer to the door, I narrow my eyes. She slowly bends, and my eyes land on her target. Her phone. “Just one. Please?” she says as she raises her phone.
“For you two, anything.” Her face softens as her eyes glisten.
“I love you both.” She radiates. “Say, ‘cheese it’s’!”
Andi and I reply in unison, “Cheese it’s!” Andi’s face pressed against mine. My face and hair the main attraction to her centerpiece.
Ava walks over, bending in front of me as Andi rearranges my hair bows. Ava ca
tches her breath before she can speak. I lay my hand on hers propped on my knee. She glances at my pink polish, and her eyes cut back to mine. “Do you know how much I’ve fallen in love with you, Riley Ivan Pennington?”
I wink at her. “Enough to marry me.”
“You sound certain, am I that easy?” Ava frowns.
“Not a snowballs chance in…” I bite my tongue. “You’re perfect.”
She leans in and stops. “I don’t want to smear your lipstick.”
“Better than my mascara.” I jerk her into my arms, taking her mouth without another word. Except for Andi being grossed out.
“Ewww, grownups and kissing.” She makes a gagging noise, making us laugh. “Now Momma Ava has lipstick on her face, Riley.” Ava smiles. “How’d it get on your teeth?” We burst into laughter.
We nestle together on the couch, watching movies until late. I kiss Andi goodnight as Ava tucks her in; her bed is perfect for now. Slipping into bed, I drift off, listening to Ava sing to Andi. I had no idea she could sing so beautifully.
Sometime later, I feel the bed move with Ava’s weight. “Hey, baby. She out?” I mumble sleepily.
“Yeah, I couldn’t leave her. I just sat there, watching her. Her lashes are so long they touch her cheek,” she says with a sigh as she snuggles into me.
“Like her momma’s.” I kiss her forehead.
“Thank you, Ry.” She pauses. “Brannon told me you talked. I can never repay you for your support.”
“Right here is all I want.”
“You’ve blindsided me,” she admits.
“Love shows up when you least expect it.” I kiss her again as she releases a yawn. “Sleep.”
Something rouses me from my sleep, and I force open an eye, trying to place what’s happening. I’m on the edge of the bed, and Ava has her back to me. I slide my arm around her, and she keeps going. What? I sit up to find Andi on the other side of her mom.
Ava’s hair is a tangled mess, Andi looks just like her; both are gorgeous. I laugh to myself as I see that Andi has the entire bed. Ava and I are smashed on my side. Ava pops an eye open, then turns her head to me. She grins, and my world tilts.
“Mornin’.” She smiles.
“Good morning. When did our company arrive?”
“Around four, she was scared. Said she heard something, I don’t know.” She shrugs.
“New place, it’ll take some getting used to.”
“How about some breakfast?”
“Yes. Pancakes!” she whispers.
“Do we have strawberries?” Andi asks, making us smile.
“We do, baby girl,” I tell her.
“Okay. Can I help, Ry?” Andi turns to me to ask.
Surprised by her endearment. “Absolutely.” Ava must see my reaction as she reaches up, laying her hand on my face.
“I don’t think they make them like you anymore.” She sits, kissing me sweetly.
Clapping her hands together, Andi hurries us along. “Okay, people, no more kissy face. We need to eat and get dressed. I’m meeting my grandparents today!”
Stunned, Ava and I exchange a nervous glance. “Let’s just see what Riley’s parents ask you to call them, okay?” Ava says.
“Okay.” Andi’s face falls, “Can we at least eat, I’m starving over here?” She moves, her eyes downcast as she slips from the bed.
“Well, I broke her heart,” Ava huffs.
“Maybe not.” I smile, grabbing her by the ankle to pull her from the bed with me.
Arriving at my parents’ home, Andi bounces in her seat with excitement. Torrie packed her a swimsuit. I think I may ask if we can all go to the beach next Saturday or Sunday. “Y’all ready?” I turn to ask them.
“Yes,” they answer in unison.
“Andi, try to remember, they don’t have young children,” Ava warns.
“We’re gonna be fine.” I squeeze her hand as she trembles.
“Yeah, Momma. You’ll be fine with me and Ry.” Andi’s too much. I wink at her, and she giggles.
We take Andi by the hand as we walk around the back of the house. Andi spots the pool and tugs her mom’s hand. “They really do have a pool.”
My mom waves and stands to greet us. “Ava, so good to see you. Riley, who is this pretty girl?” She squats in front of Andi.
“I’m Andi O’Hurley.” She points at Ava. “That’s my momma Ava.”
“Well, hello, Andi. I’m Riley’s mom, Cynthia. Now, I’m hoping at some point, you’ll call me grammy or something, but I guess we have to wait on these two to tell us when we can.” She wrinkles her nose at Andi.
“When they get married, Momma Ava said.” Andi rolls her eyes. “But they kiss enough, they should be already.”
“Andi, you did not just say that?!” Ava exclaims.
We all share the chuckle as my dad walks out with a plate of burgers for the grill. “What did I miss?”
“Ry and Momma Ava getting married. I’m Andi.” She waves at him.
“Is that so? Did you get her wore down?” He joins us, reaching for Andi’s hand. “I’m Ian, Riley’s dad.”
“I’m not allowed to call you pop until they get married, whenever that is,” she huffs, rolling those eyes when she does.
“This is gonna be fun.” I chuckle.
We spend the evening eating, swimming, and enjoying our visit. My parents’ are over the moon for Andi, and she seems to like them.
We’re sure to have Andi at Brannon and Torrie’s at the exact time he requested. Brannon holds the front door open, making room for us to enter their home with a sleeping Andi draped over my shoulder. “She’s getting too big to be carried.” Brannon grins.
“Well, it’s my first time, so I’m good.” I rub her back as she sighs.
“She's worn out. She’s played and played.” Ava sweeps her hair from her face, kissing her cheek. “I can’t thank you enough for letting us have her.”
Ava’s ‘us’ gets an eyebrow raise from Brannon and myself. “No problem, I’m glad we can do this for you both.” Brannon takes her from me.
“Bye, baby girl.” I kiss her forehead, and she begins to murmur. “What?”
“Bye, Ry. Love you. Love you, Momma.” She didn’t add Ava. I glance at the woman beside me, moved to tears.
“We love you,” Ava’s words just a murmur as she trembles with emotion.
We hold hands as we walk to the truck, tossing a wave goodbye over our shoulders. I help Ava in, and she pulls me to her. “Thank you.”
“You’re gonna lose your street cred if you keep it up.” I smile.
“For you, not a problem.”
Riley and I had an amazing weekend with Andi. There was a time I really thought I didn’t want her. I was ridiculously outta control. I’m blessed Brannon doesn’t keep her from me altogether.
I hated leaving Riley again this morning.
He surprised me yesterday by making plans with Andi, Brannon, and Torrie for the beach next Saturday. We’re gonna spend the day and go to the aquarium after; he also asked me to go dancing. I love to dance, but when he mentioned it, I started thinking about working.
Riley doesn’t want me to work until I graduate. He’s not being an asshole, he wants what’s best for me. Besides, like any man is gonna tell me what to do. It would be great if I could wait, but I have bills. I can’t expect Riley to keep taking care of me. It might be okay if he was working, which he’s not. I must get a job and soon.
I’m lost in thought as I walk toward the library. I open the door, and it just about hits me in the face. Help Wanted. Talk about getting a sign. I rip the paper down and walk to the front desk. “Hi, I’d like to apply for the job.”
The librarian hands me the application. “There are several jobs open here on campus. To have a better chance at getting one of them, keep the option open.”
“Will do. Thank you.” I smile and begin to fill out the paperwork. I’ll wait until I get it to tell Riley, less time arguing.
The week fli
es by and soon, Riley and I are celebrating an anniversary. I stumble through the front door to drop my backpack immediately. “I’m exhausted.” I look up to find flowers covering every surface available. “Ry?”
I search around, smelling the flowers as I wander through the garden that is my apartment. “Ry?” I call out again. As I approach the bathroom, I hear the shower running. A wry grin plays on my mouth. I strip, pushing the door open, and I peruse the sculpted torso behind the glass.
The water rushes over Riley’s body, his hands moving up and down his hard chest. I squeeze my legs together from the desire pooling between them. His head falls back under the waterfall, allowing it to blaze of path down his body.
I saunter over, sliding the door open enough to peek in. The water ripples across his abs, running in streams around his cock and down his thighs. The muscles in his legs flex as he twists and turns, getting as soaked as I am. I step in, biting my lip as my eyes tear a path up his body.
I lick my lips when I get to the junction of his thighs, hitting my knees from need. I take him into my mouth, glancing up at him when he jumps from the contact. “Ava. Damn, baby.” I suck him in deep, swirling my tongue over his head. “Fuck.”
Riley’s body sags against the shower wall when I pull him free. Flattening my tongue, I lick him from base to tip. I lap at his length, sucking inch by inch, taking him to the hilt. He groans as I cup his balls, and I suck harder.
“That’s it, baby. Come here.” Riley picks me up, I lock my legs around him as my back hits the wall.
Our mouths collide, helping to muffle my moan as he buries deep in me. I fist his hair, forcing his mouth to mine. Our lips press hard against each other’s as he pumps vigorously. His tongue dives into my mouth meeting mine, tangling as the heat between us rises.
Riley forces my body up the wall as he drives into me. I moan through our fused mouths, racing to my climax. The water helping us to slip and slide against each other, propelling us higher. Riley chases his orgasm while pushing me to mine.
I open my eyes to watch the fire in his smolder to a wicked flame, and I tumble over the edge of desire. Wailing his name as my orgasm explodes, sending bright lights of ecstasy as it sparks. Igniting Riley’s frenzied desire as he spills into me.
