Secrets Worth Keeping (Finding my Home Book 2) Page 30

by Nikita Parmenter

“We did good, Angel” Jensen grins.

“We did, where are the cups?” I say and he chuckles.

“Do you want to set the cups out or pour the water, we can use the hose.”

“Damn you really have thought of everything, why don’t we take it in turns you lay the cups first and I’ll do the water then we’ll swap.”

“Good plan, Dragonfly” he says handing me the hose and pushing two big cardboard boxes of solo cups up by the door. “We’ll start here, there’s more beer in that box” he points to one of the boxes and I raise my eyebrow, “don’t look at me like that, it’s not all beer there’s solo cups in there too. We need to get going though, they’re going to come looking for you soon” he rolls his eyes and chuckles.

We start setting out the cups, laying them out on the entirety of the garage floor surrounding the truck as well. I get increasingly tipsy as I go and judging from the louder off key singing coming from Jensen he is too. We don’t bother swapping halfway through so it shocks me when my back hits the wall.

“What the fuck” I say glancing up from the cups and then promptly laughing my ass off.

Jensen looks at me questioningly but I can’t get a word out through my laughter and just point. We have managed to do the entire garage floor but we were so focused on our prank and admittedly enjoying the beers that we have somehow also managed to back ourselves into the far corner of the garage, opposite the trailer and nowhere near either the door back into the house or the garage door.

  We’re stuck.

Jensen bursts out laughing joining me before he abandons the cups and grabs me hauling me up into his arms, my legs wrap around him and I waste no time in crashing my lips against his. His tongue tangles with mine and every nerve in my body comes to life. When I pull back, breathing heavily I grin at him.

“Looks like we’re stuck here for a while” I chuckle.

“True, wouldn’t be so bad but I need to pee” Jensen says.

“Oh great now I need to pee, damn it” I grumble, “it’s your fault for giving me all those damn beers” I smirk and kisses me hard.

“On the count of three yell as loud as you can for the guys” he suggests.

  “But we locked the door?”

“Oh they’ll get in don’t worry, Angel” his grin turns harsher, “we’ve got a lot more tricks up our sleeves than we’ve shown you so far. I think the others are worried it might scare you” he leans in again and kisses me before pulling back the barest hint, “but I think if anything you’d end up liking us more.”

“Damn straight, Trickster. Can’t wait to find out what else you guy can do” I smirk and bite my lip. He groans as his hands clench on my ass and then bites my lip.

“Alright as much as I want to play, Angel. We need out of here” Jensen says regretfully.

“Agreed” I pout and he chuckles.

  “So on three?”

  “Yeah, one.”

  “Two.”

  “Three.”

“GUY’S!!” We both yell together and hear something bang.

  Chapter Thirty-One

“And now we wait” I say.

“I have a feeling we won’t be waiting for long” Jensen says knowingly.

Sure enough he’s just finished his sentence, when there’s a loud bang against the door.

  “Ever!” Atlas calls.

“I’m ok, we’re just a little bit stuck that’s all!”

“Alright, Princess give us a second and we’ll have you guys out of there” he says in a much calmer voice.

I send Jensen an accusing look.

“Whoops, I didn’t think about the fact that they might think something was really wrong” he says sounding genuinely sorry but then he grins, “I blame the beer, speaking of, you want another one?”

“Sure, you’ve got to put me down though” I remind him and he chuckles.

He gently puts me back down and I promptly sit my ass down on the floor, leaning against the wall behind me and Jensen does the same handing me a beer.

“This isn’t going to help the bladder situation that we have going on right now” I say taking a sip anyway.

  “Nope” he agrees.

I smile as I lean against him. I feel myself frown as a familiar noise starts up just outside the door.

“Holy fuck is that a chainsaw?” I say mildly alarmed, the guys must’ve never put it back away after they pretended to be sexy lumberjacks.

“Yeah” Jensen says not even batting a damn eyelid.

“Guys!” I yell again and they somehow hear me over the noise of the chainsaw, Jensen wiggles his finger in his ear.

“Damn, Angel, warn a guy next time” he smirks.

“Sorry” I smile apologetically and then call out to the others, “doesn’t one of you know how to pick a damn lock?”

“Normally Jensen’s the one who does it” Trick yells back.

  I turn to Jensen.

“Damn that’s hot” I grin and he chuckles in a knowing way.

“I should be able to do it, not as quickly as Jensen but it would be better than having to replace the entire damn door” Cash says.

“Good idea” I say sarcastically and the guys all chuckle.

  “Smartass” Luc calls.

“You know it!” I sass back.

“You guys ok in there?” Trick asks a bit more seriously but I can hear the amusement in his tone.

“Yeah, we’re good” Jensen yells back.

“I can’t wait to hear how the hell you managed to get yourselves locked in there!” Riot calls and I share a grin with Jensen.

It takes Cash about five minutes to finally get the lock open which is still pretty damn fast and makes me wonder just how fast Jensen can do it if they consider Cash slower. I’ll have to ask him later though, too excited right now to see the guys reactions to mine and Jensen’s afternoon activities.

“What the fuck!?” Atty exclaims as he starts to rush through the door as soon as the lock clicks, only to pull up just short of knocking all of the solo cups filled with water over, which would’ve definitely left a giant puddle on the floor in the garage.

“What the hell did you guys do to my truck?” Trick exclaims somehow managing to sound equal parts amused and exasperated.

They’re grinning with amusement as they survey our handiwork but as soon as their eyes land on us huddled in a corner, with no escape and drinking beers, they all lose it. I grin at Jensen and then raise my beer in salute.

Once they’ve finally calmed down they all look at the cups.

“I don’t see a way around it guys, we’re going to have to pick them up individually or we’ll risk knocking them all over and flooding the damn garage” Trick says, sighing.

“At least the sink is on this side so we don’t have to fill up buckets with the water” Riot says and I grin.

“Alright, lets start. I’d like to be done before dinner.” Luc chuckles.

“Oh my fuck, dude we missed lunch!” I gasp at Jensen and since we’re both on the drunk side tipsy he reacts just as outraged as I do.

“Oi how come you guys didn’t come and get us for lunch?” he yells unnecessarily and making me giggle.

“We thought you might have been otherwise engaged” Riot grins wriggling his eyebrows.

I crack up laughing and Jensen joins in as the others watch us amused, still moving the cups.

“I like how you guys have somehow managed to work it so that we’re the ones that are tidying up the mess that you made” Riot chuckles.

“Happy accident” I reply grinning and he chuckles.

Finally after what seems like hours they get to us and I yell thank you as I sprint out of the door, Jensen hot on my heels.

“Where the fuck are you two going now!?” Atty yells after us.

“Need to pee!” I yell back as I crash through the door leading into the main part of the house and sprint up the stairs to my room, still unsure where any other damn bathrooms are and considering we’re leaving tomorr
ow that’s a pretty impressive feat. A pang of sadness and trepidation goes through me at the thought of tomorrow and I viciously push it away. Tomorrow me can deal with that.

Feeling infinitely better now I’ve been to the bathroom I practically skip back downstairs, past some of the guys sat in the sitting area and into the kitchen following my nose and the smell of chocolate. The kitchens empty when I arrive and I know I should go and help clear up the mess me and Jensen made, but first, I want whatever is making that delicious smell. My eyes zero in on a truly ginormous mound of brownies and I do a little happy dance on my way over to them. I pick up one and hop up onto the counter sitting down to eat it. I’m completely unsurprised to find that these really are the best brownies I have ever tasted. At this point though I’d be more surprised if Rafe made something that tasted vaguely bad.

I’ve got enough beer in me that not only am I still doing my happy food dance but I’m doing it more enthusiastically than I normally would, still sat on the counter and apparently humming as well.

Trick suddenly looks over at me and grins before he nudges the others who all glance at me before matching grins light up their faces.

“You found the brownies then?” Rafe asks, smirking.

  “Yeppers” I grin.

Trick gets up off of the couch and comes into the kitchen area, standing in front of me as his hands land on my bare legs, I glance down at them confused.

“Shit, when did I take my pants off?” I question genuinely confused but shrug and stuff another bite of brownie in my mouth as I start happy dancing again.

The guys all start laughing as Jensen snorts in amusement and I have all of their attention, the game abandoned. Trick’s amused gaze runs over me for a second before he tilts his head his grin widening as he comes to some sort of realisation.

“Ever, Sweetheart, are you drunk?” he asks trying and failing to suppress his grin.

“I am moderately functional” I reply primly and someone chokes out a laugh from behind Trick.

“I’ll take that as a yes” he chuckles.

“Got it one sugar tits” I compliment pointing my brownie at him before I take another bite.

“What the fuck, Ever?” he asks his grey eyes dancing with amusement as he no longer tries to suppress his grin. “I do not have tits” he says lifting up his shirt and showing off a deliciously sculpted chest and lickable abs.

I can’t help myself I lean forward quickly and flick my tongue over his nipple before moving back again and grinning as he just stares at me seemingly frozen. There’s a beat of stunned silence before everyone suddenly bursts out laughing. Making me grin happily, I like making them laugh. Using Trick’s distraction to my advantage I hop up onto the counter properly and use it to walk around the kitchen to the plate of brownies, unsure why I sat so damn far away from them in the first place.

I snatch one up, whilst the guys are still laughing Trick finally unfreezing enough to join in and watching me with a soft look that quickly turns amused as I grab another brownie just in case and do my happy dance stood up on the counter before I plop my ass back down, closer to the brownies this time.

“Do you want an Irish hot chocolate, Dragonfly?” Rafe asks, coming into the kitchen and giving me a soft kiss as he starts to get the ingredients out, already knowing what my answers going to be.

“Yes please, Big Guy” I grin.

“Me too!” Jensen exclaims hopping up on the counter next to me and pinching a brownie.

“Anyone else?” Rafe asks, everyone saying they want one. “Don’t eat all of those, you two” he commands and I just stare at him innocently making him chuckle.

“Alright share the brownies, Rafe made enough for an army” Trick orders and me and Jensen both take another one each before surrendering the plate to the others.

“I’m going to enjoy getting you back for that earlier stunt, Sweetheart” Trick whispers huskily as he leans in to take the plate off the counter between me and Jensen.

“Can’t wait, Sir” I grin as his eyes flash with heat.

He leans in and captures my lips with his, kissing me with unrestrained passion. He smirks at my dazed expression when he steps back and chuckles.

Damn, these guys can get me fucking going.

Rafe hands us all our hot chocolates and we end up taking them into the sitting room. Instead of restarting the game or putting a movie on, Cash and Atlas disappear upstairs and I watch curiously until they come back down bringing two extremely well loved guitars with them. I immediately get overtly excited and start bouncing on my seat and they both chuckle at me as they take a seat and start playing.

I know I look like a fish right now but I can’t fucking help it, my jaw hits the floor. Neither one of them are looking at me so I don’t bother trying to school my reaction and I know a couple of the guys are watching me and my reaction as I hear quiet chuckles but I don’t give a shit. Just as I’ve gotten over the shock of them playing together perfectly, Cash starts to sing and the power of his voice hits me all over again. I lean back, taking a sip of my hot chocolate and just enjoy the music they’re making. With the fire lit and the snow outside as well, it really is like a dream. They play a few songs before they take a break both reaching for their spiked hot chocolates.

“You guys are amazing, you should be on stage” I compliment and Cash grins at me, he knows how much I love his music, which reminds me, I still haven’t listened to the music he put on my new iPod for me.

“I can’t” Atlas says bitterly as regret and resentment flash through his eyes, making them turn an even icier shade of blue.

“Why not?” I ask, although I’m pretty damn sure it has something to do with whatever is going on with him.

“It would be too public, certain people would recognise me and that would be really bad” he surprisingly admits but it seems like he didn’t mean to tell us that much as his eyes widen slightly and he starts to grimace.

I share a look with the guys, just another piece in the puzzle that is Atlas’s life and what he’s got going on at the moment. I decide to change the subject.

“Well it sucks to be the rest of the world then, but I get to be the lucky bitch that gets to hear you guys play. I do have a request though?” I finish seriously.

Atlas’s big shoulders tense as he eyes me warily and the rest of them send me warning looks that make me want to roll my eyes.

  Oh boys of little faith.

“Can you play something else?” I ask innocently but ruin it by smirking.

Atlas blinks at me for a second completely uncomprehending. Before he grins and opens his arms for me.

I waste absolutely no time at all in crossing the room and snuggling down in his giant arms.

“Anything for you, Princess” he says as he moves me so I’m sat on his lap properly and brings his guitar up to rest on both of our legs his arms wrapping around me and easily reaching the guitar to play.

“Dude you should do that thing we used to do” Luc suggests vaguely.

  Atlas pauses slightly before agreeing.

“Come on, you know you want to show off just a little bit” Jensen goads, smirking.

I tilt my head up and Atlas’s grin widens, he dips his head kissing me quickly before he pulls back.

“Alright fair point, start with Jensen. If I’m doing this though Cash you’re singing” he says and curiosity burns through me.

  “Deal” Cash grins.

“Falling in reverse, I’m not a vampire” Jensen suggests.

Atlas immediately starts playing with no hesitation and Cash starts singing.

“I’m walking on sunshine” Luc calls out a minute in, he earns looks from Cash and Atlas but they switch to the song with no discernible pause, completely in sync with each other.

“Sweet child o mine, guns and roses” Trick calls out, next.

Once again they switch easily. The others all take turns as I sit there completely in awe of not only Atlas’s talent but Cash’s too. What m
akes it even more impressive is that Atlas is still playing with me on his lap and every now and then he chuckles at a song suggestion and kisses my head not pausing in playing.

It is honestly awe inspiring and I can’t actually believe I’m lucky enough to experience it. They mess around for a bit longer and I compliment them profusely once they’ve finished which they both try to brush off but their happy smiles tell a different story. I have a feeling that Cash wouldn’t want to play music without Atlas and the same can be said about Atlas when it comes to playing without Cash. They just mesh so incredibly well, which I guess comes from being as close as brothers, it would be almost impossible to find anyone else that they’d mesh with like that. I hope that one day they get to play in front of a crowd screaming their names. They really are good enough and I’m not just saying that because I’m in love with them all. Yes I’ve admitted it to myself again, I’m going to have to talk to them tomorrow, I may as well carry on admitting some hard truths to myself right now.

“You ok, Ever?” Atty asks quietly resting his head on my shoulder, since I’m still sat on his lap.

“Yeah” I pause, lowering my voice and deciding to be honest, “I don’t want to leave tomorrow” I say looking back at him and hoping he gets that I don’t want to leave him.

“I know Princess, me neither” he admits just as quietly, his arms tightening around me as he drops his head to my shoulder. My heart sinks to my feet. I need a minute to get myself together.

I tap his arms and he lifts his head, dipping so he can look me the eye.

“I’m going to go and make dinner for everyone, it’s only fair since Rafe’s done most of the cooking” I say and I know I don’t fool him but he kisses me softly and releases me.

“It’ll be ok, Princess” his raspy voice says just before I get up and I squeeze his hand to let him know I heard him.

Once I’m in the kitchen and around the corner so I’m out of sight, I take a deep breath and force my melancholy thoughts away. My brain just can’t seem to stop thinking about how when we leave here, we will also be leaving Atlas too. My heart actually hurts at the thought of leaving him. I decide the best way to distract myself is probably by cooking. With that in mind I decided to make something a bit more complicated than I had planned.
