Still reeling from the unexpected kiss, I had no words, but remembered our goal. I removed his hands from my waist and held onto them. I looked up at him and nodded, I was ready; however, my body was still a shaking wreck. If we ever made it out of here alive, I would deal with my pesky emotions then.
I was about to start the count again, but boots—more than two sets—pounded the pavement, heading in our direction.
“Jump!” I yelled to Zander.
