Conflicted Love Page 4

I knocked on the Prez’s office door and waited for a reply.

“Come in!” he shouted. I pushed the door open and his son Danny was sitting on the floor playing with his cars. “Pup?”

“I’ve come for the keys to your bike. I’m taking it to ‘Wheelz’.” Wheelz was the bike repair shop that was about ten minutes away. Prez grabbed his keys and threw them at me.

“I’ve spoken to them, they know what they need to do.”

  “No problem. Won’t be long.”

As I walked out of Prez’s office, I could hear Cooper crying so I hurried towards the bar where the sound was coming from. Penny was handing him over to Lottie as I walked in and he quieted down.

  “What’s going on?”

“He didn’t want me today,” Penny explained, shrugging her shoulders.

“It’s ok. He’s quiet now.” Lottie smiled as she walked towards me with my son against her chest. She kissed me on the cheek and I kissed Cooper on the top of his head.

“Love you, buddy.” My fears had come true, he was already getting attached to Lottie. I spun around and walked out of the clubhouse doors, the sun was shining and I loved feeling the warmth on my skin. I mounted Prez’s bike and took off out of the compound, heading east.

My mind was whirling and I hated that when I was riding, I needed to be in complete control. Lottie was on my mind. Cooper seemed to really love her and she’s always paid me lots of attention too. Was she Old Lady material? It wasn’t very common to make a club bunny an Old Lady. Cammie was a club bunny at her old club, the Devon Destroyers, but once she entered the Cornish Crusaders, Holes had claimed her for himself. I never saw her as anything other than an Old Lady.

I was conflicted; did I try and have something more with Lottie? Did I want a club bunny as my Old Lady? As a wife? As a mother to my son? Clearly Stef wasn’t interested in anything more. The trouble was, I couldn’t get her out of my head. Could I move on so easily after being with her?

I pulled up to ‘Wheelz’, yanked my helmet off and casually strode over to the open garage. There was a guy sitting on a stool, he had on blue overalls and a mask covering his face as he welded.

“Yo, man!” I called out. His head snapped up towards mine as he stopped welding. “I got my Prez’s bike here. He said you knew what needed doing?” He didn’t attempt to get up or remove his mask or gloves. “You want me to leave the keys somewhere?”

He finally climbed to his feet; he was a short dude, he looked skinny as well. He tore the mask off and a mane of long dark hair fell around her shoulders, those piercing blue eyes connected with mine and after a long week I felt like I could finally breathe again.

“Stef.” I whispered, storming closer to her. I didn’t waste any time I connected my lips with hers and my tongue invaded her mouth. I kept my hands twisted in her hair so she couldn’t escape me. She smelt of engine oil and I loved it, reminded me of riding my bike.

Once breathing became an issue, I withdrew my lips from hers and placed my forehead on hers.

“Where have you been?” I asked.

  “Um…”

  “Tell me,” I demanded.

“I needed to think, I still do.”

“No. This is happening, you’re mine.”

“W…What?” She pulled her head back and I let her go, sliding my hands down her body until I clasped her hips, tightly.

“You. Are. Mine,” I told her. She began shaking her head. “Come to the club tonight, there’s a party.”

“I don’t know if that’s a good idea.” Her voice was breathless, she couldn’t hide the fact that I had turned her on and that she wanted me.

  “Why are you fighting this?”

“You don’t know anything about me,” she stated.

“Then let me find out.” I could see she was giving in, she couldn’t deny the chemistry between us. “Come on, you know we’re good together.” I moved so my lips grazed her ear. “I bet if I popped open the buttons on this overall and slid my hand into your underwear you’d be soaking wet for me.” She whimpered and that was all I needed to know that she wanted this just as much as I did. Her hands gripped hold of my biceps firmer as I ran my hands up her sides until my fingers were at the top button of her overalls.

“Hey, Stef!” someone called out. She pushed me back and stepped around me.

“Hey, Storm.” She smiled. I stood up straight and squared my shoulders as I saw this guy wearing a Devil Angels patch. I took a step closer to Stef until my chest was pressed against her back.

“What’s this?” he asked, waving his hand between the two of us. “You got yourself a Crusaders boyfriend?”

“No.” She stepped out of my hold and as I went to move with her she shot me a look to say ‘do not move’. “What can I help you with?” I listened as he explained what funny noise his bike was making and listening to her talk bikes with him was a massive turn on.

“Leave it with me, I’ll have time to look at it this afternoon.”

“Thanks, babe.” He kissed her on the cheek and I clenched my fists tight at my sides. He was touching what was mine. I stepped forward as I heard the rumble of more bikes. Three bikes pulled in, they were all wearing Devil Angels patches. I didn’t know much about their MC. I knew we definitely didn’t have any problems with them, though we would if this Storm guy kept touching her like that. He nodded his head at her and smirked at me, he knew he was getting to me. Did I just manage to show him my weakness?

“Is this place yours?” I asked as she waltzed back into the garage and picked up some tools.

  “Yeah.”

  “How old are you?”

“Twenty-five.” I could live with that, sleeping with an older woman sure had some perks. “What about you?”

“I’m twenty.” Her head shot around to look at me. Surprise covering her face.

“Shit,” she swore. “I didn’t realise you were so young.”

“Hey, I’m not that young,” I defended.

“Look, I’m really busy here.” She sighed, pointing at the three bikes that were waiting to be fixed.

“What time will the Prez’s bike be ready?” She glanced at the large clock on the wall.

  “By five.”

“Great, you got a bike I can borrow?”

  “No.”

“What about that Harley out there?” I pointed to a red and silver shiny bike.

  “That’s my bike.”

“Perfect. Keys, babe.” I held out my hand waiting for her keys. She huffed out her breath as she climbed to her feet.

“You put one scratch on her…”

“I won’t,” I cut her off, reaching for her keys. She held them back and took a step closer to me.

“If I find one scratch on her, the next time I’m riding you, I won’t let you come.” I let my head fall back as a burst of laughter escaped me. At least she was thinking of another time.

“I’ll be back at five for Prez’s bike and to pick you up for the party.”

“I never said I was going.”

“I’ll see you later, babe.” I kissed her once more. She gripped hold of the sides of my jacket and held me close to her. There was no way in this world that this woman didn’t want more of me.

  Stef

It had just turned four-thirty when I finished on the bike that Pup had bought in and I was still undecided if I should attend this party tonight.

I grew up around bikers, my dad was always tinkering with a bike. He loved to ride and I remember the first time I got to ride on the back of his bike. I was thirteen and loved every second of it. As soon as I was old enough, I convinced him to buy me my own bike. He bought me a rundown Harley and I spent every day after school and every weekend in his garage with him, restoring it. I wasn’t a typical teenager, sneaking off with boys and learning how to straighten my hair and apply make-up. I was always happiest when I was with my dad and covered in engine oil.

The day he died almost killed me, I wanted to die right along
side him. He was the only man I had ever wanted in my life.

I was finishing up with a bike in my dad’s garage, I had been working for him full time now for the last six months and I loved it. I would never be one of those people that dreaded getting up for work in the morning. I glanced at the clock to see that it was a little after one in the afternoon. He should have been here by now. I wiped my hands on a rag I kept in my pocket as I climbed to my feet. It never got all the oil off but most of it.

I grabbed my phone off the side and dialled my dad’s mobile phone, it rang and rang until it went to voicemail. I tried my mum’s phone next.

  “Hi, sweetie,” she answered happily.

“Do you still have dad tied to your bed?” I laughed. Mum and dad were never shy about their sex life, the amount of times I had walked in on them was too many to count. I loved that they had a relationship where they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. I wanted that. At only nineteen, I was unimpressed with sex, I had lost my virginity to my boyfriend a year ago and shortly after I broke it off with him. We didn’t have the passion and fire that I wanted. I was just wasting my time with him.

“No, sweetie, he left over an hour ago. Isn’t he there?”

“No, Mum, that’s why I was calling.” Where was he? Mum and dad’s house was less than fifteen minutes away.

“I’m sure everything is ok, call your brother to see if he went over there.”

“To the club? Why would dad go to the club?”

“Just call him in case, sweetie.”

“Alright.” I sighed. I tried calling dad once more first. “Hello?” I said once the phone connected. “Dad?”

“Hello? Who is on the line please?” someone asked.

“Stefanie. Where’s my dad? This is his phone.” What was going on?

“I’m sorry to tell you this, Miss. Masters, but your dad has been involved in a motorbike accident.”

“What? Is he ok?” I grabbed hold of the wall, my whole body was shaking. Please let him be ok, I prayed whilst looking at the sky through the open roller door.

“I think it’s best if you gather your immediate family and come to the hospital. I’m PC Martins by the way.”

Mum and I burst through the doors to the hospital. We rushed up to the desk and asked for my dad. My brother, Evan, wasn’t with us. I had called him several times and he never answered the phone. I left him a few voicemails, I wasn’t sure if he would be able to understand what I was saying through all my sobbing.

“Miss Masters?” I looked over my shoulder to see a uniformed police officer standing there.

“Yes, this is my mum. How’s my dad?” Mum and I held hands, trying to be stronger for one another.

“If you could come this way please.” He stretched out his arm as he pointed to a family room. Dread filled my stomach, if it wasn’t bad news he would have already told us. Once we were in the room, we stood in front of him, he offered for us to sit but we both shook our heads.

“Please, where’s my husband?” Mum cried.

“I’m sorry to have to tell you this, but it looks like it was a hit and run. He was hurt very badly and unfortunately he didn’t survive. I am so sorry for your loss.” Mum wailed as her body slid to the floor, I was standing in the same spot. No, he’s mistaken, it’s not happening, not my dad. My dad. I needed my dad.

I rode through the gates of the Devil Angels MC, parked my bike, ripped my helmet off my head and stormed through the clubhouse where my brother was the president. I let my eyes wander through the bar, he wasn’t there. I ran towards his office and threw the door open.

“What the fuck?” he yelled as one of the club whores bounded up and down on his lap.

“Get out,” I sneered at her.

“Hey, you don’t get to come in here and throw your weight about!” Evan shouted at me. I couldn’t stop the tears that were rolling down my face. “Stef? What’s wrong?” He moved the girl off his lap and rearranged himself before he climbed to his feet. “I’ll see you later, Lisa.” She stormed past me not looking happy. There are worst things happening in this world than just getting off.

“Was this your doing? Is it because of this club?” I screamed.

“What the hell are you talking about?” He ambled towards me.

“Dad,” I choked out, dropping my head so my chin was resting on my chest.

“What about him?” My head shot up to look at him.

“Did you not get my messages?”

“No, I can’t find my phone. What’s going on?”

“Dad was… He was killed in a hit and run this afternoon.” I sobbed.

“What?” Evan stumbled back until his bum hit his desk. I explained everything the police officer had told us and everything the doctor had told us too.

“Why would someone hit him and leave him for dead? Is it because you run this club? Were they going after him because of you?”

“What? No. I have no enemies, no targets on this club.”

  “Then why him?” I cried.

“This is life, it happens. We probably won’t ever know why.” He wrapped me up in his arms and held me close while my heart broke all over again.

  * * *

I knew it was always best not to argue with bikers. I did want to spend more time with Pup but I wasn’t sure how Evan would feel with me dating someone from another MC. I had nothing to do with the Devil Angels, I was only living with my brother at the minute as my ex cheated on me and I had nowhere else to go. I would have gone back to the family home but that didn’t exist anymore. Mum had drunk herself into an early grave just twelve months after we lost my dad. He was her soulmate and she couldn’t survive without him. Burying two parents in the space of a year was difficult, especially at the age of twenty. It taught me one thing, never settle until you find the one who completes you. Live every day to the fullest and don’t deny yourself happiness. That was exactly why I had showered in the small bathroom that was here at the garage and changed into my black skinny jeans and red bandeau. My flat tummy was on show along with some cleavage. I hoped he liked the effort I made. I scrunched my hair up once it was wet and let the natural wave take over. I brushed some mascara over my lashes and applied some pale pink lip gloss. I stepped out of the small bathroom that was connected to my office when I heard the rumble of a bike. I slipped my arms into my leather jacket and pushed my feet into my heeled biker boots. They were black leather that had a row of silver buckles covering the sides.

I grabbed my bag off the coat hook in my office and placed it across my body. My head snapped up when I heard a wolf whistle.

“Oh, Storm. Did you not get my message? I had to order a part in. It’ll be here first thing tomorrow. So your bike will be ready by lunchtime.”

“Not a problem, where’s your bike?”

“Ummm…” I wasn’t sure what to tell him. The chance to be honest with him was taken away from me as Pup rode in on my bike.

“Why the hell does he have your bike?” he barked.

“He just borrowed it while I did some work on his,” I quickly explained.

“What the hell is he doing back here?” Pup questioned as he strolled towards me with his helmet under his arm. His eyes trailed up and down my body and a smile graced his lips.

“I’ll call you tomorrow,” I told Storm, he went to lean in to give me another kiss on the cheek and I side stepped him to grab my red and silver helmet. I didn’t need Pup and Storm fighting here in my garage.

Storm nodded his head before he stormed away.

“Why are you calling him tomorrow?” Pup asked.

“Because his bike isn’t ready,” I said pointing to Storms bike that was in the garage.

“You ready?” I smiled as I waved my helmet at him. “You look sexy as hell.” He took another step closer so that our bodies were touching and kissed me. His lips were soft and his kiss was gentle. He wasn’t in a hurry and I loved that. When his tongue brushed against my bottom lip, I opened up for him and st
ood on my tiptoes. His hands clamped around my hips and held me tight against him.

“Let’s go,” he mumbled against my lips. I lowered back down onto my feet and stepped away from him. He strode over to his Prez’s bike and climbed on it as I entered the code for the garage and rolled the shutter down.

“I’ll follow you,” I told him as I waltzed over to my bike.

  “We’ll go together.”

“I gotta work early tomorrow. I’ll need my bike.” I threw my leg over the top and kicked the kick stand out of the way.

“I’ll make sure you’re here on time.”

“If you want me to come to this party then I’m riding my bike.”

“Fine.” He shook his head while mumbling to himself. He took off in front of me and I followed behind him.

  Pup

The party was in full swing, we had been here for a couple of hours and I hadn’t let Stef wander too far away from me. I made it obvious to everyone that was in the bar that she was mine. I had claimed her lips the moment we stepped foot inside. I was going to have to make sure I laid a claim on her when we were next in church.

I kept checking my phone to make sure I didn’t miss any messages or phone calls from Holes’ mum. She was looking after Harley tonight and offered to look after Cooper too. She was a lovely lady who had taken on her grandaughter, Emily, when her daughter was killed in a car crash. Emily loved Harley and Cooper and always wanted to help in any way that she could.

“So, you got the Old Ladies,” Stef said as she pointed towards Carla, Cammie and Ashlyn. “The club whores.” She pointed at Missy who was busy serving behind the bar and Lottie and Penny who were giving some of my brothers lap dances.

“We call them club bunnies. How do you know so much about an MC?”

  “I’ve watched Sons of Anarchy.”

I couldn’t stop the laugh that erupted from my throat.

“Babe, living here is nothing like that show.” She frowned at me as she looked at me. “Don’t screw that pretty face of yours up.” I smoothed out the lines on her forehead and she relaxed.
