  “Obviously,” I stated dryly.

“You came to us,” Cap said. “You must have a plan in mind.”

“I want to take him and his whole operation down. I want him dead, but if we just kill him, the next in line takes over the business.”

“Aren’t you the next in line?” I asked.

“That’s what everyone thinks. It would be all out war. Whoever is in charge stands to gain a lot of money and power. I don’t want the position and nobody would stop until I was dead. They wouldn’t take any chances that I would come back later and fight for the position.”

“He probably has networks all over the country,” Jules said. “How are we supposed to take out all of them simultaneously? Because if we don’t do that, there’s still someone that could take over.”

“There are prostitution rings in every major city in the United States. It’s not something we could do without the aid of the government.”

But if we were going to take down Chief, I wanted to be the one to do it. He had stolen a year of my life and a year and a half of Payton’s. Besides, I still had questions that I wanted answered. “Where’s Chief?”

“Mexico. He’s set up a nice sized estate for himself.”

“So, we have to take him down on our own,” Cap surmised. “How do you propose we do this?”

“I’m prepared to make a deal with the feds. I’ll tell them everything I know and we can coordinate with them for taking down all the different rings. I can lead you to his estate and help you with moving around the property. I’ve lived there for years and I know all his security measures.”

“He’ll know that something’s up as soon as we show up at the gate.”

Mark nodded to me. “This is the tricky part. We’ll need to show up with women, at least twenty or so. One of you will need to pose as a seller trying to make some money. You’ll say you want to strike a deal. Once we’re inside, that’s when we strike.”

“Wait, why would we need the women? We could say that we have merchandise for him and we strike right inside the gates,” Sinner said. “I don’t like the idea of bringing women along and potentially getting hurt.”

  “Me neither,” Gabe agreed.

“I’ll do it,” Lola said. “Bring Florrie and I as examples. We’re trained and we can take it.”

Cap shook his head. “Florrie can’t do it. She was at Chance’s house when Hughes was there. We can’t take the chance that Chief knows who she is. We’ll be dead before we get on the property.”

“That rules a lot of us out, Cap.” I looked around the room at anyone that could have potentially been seen. “Knight and Lola are the only ones that he wouldn’t have seen.”

“I’ll do it,” Knight said. “I’ll go in as the seller. He doesn’t know me and I know a shit ton about people like this. I know how they think and how they’ll respond.”

“But who would you bring in as the merchandise?” Mark asked. “You can’t show up with one or two women. You have to bring enough that he can judge whether you’ll bring in money for him.”

“So, you already said you’ll go to the feds. Ask them for female agents,” I suggested.

“The feds won’t touch his estate,” Cap said. “If he’s in Mexico, they need a joint task force with the Mexican government. It’s too much red tape and by the time it’s approved, the rings could move on.”

“So, where do we get the girls?” I asked.

Sinner started laughing and Cap sneered at him. “Don’t even think about it.”

“Oh, come on, Cap. She lives for this stuff.”

  “I said no.”

“You can’t tell me that this wouldn’t be good for you,” Sinner snickered. “You give her a job like this, you can do no wrong the rest of your marriage.”

  “She just had a kid!”

“And she’s already got her body back. Plus, her rack is amazing right now.”

Cap lunged at Sinner, and Cazzo and Burg jumped in to hold him back.

“Am I missing something?” Mark asked me.

  “Cap’s wife. She’s a bit of a pistol.”

Cap broke loose and had Sinner on the ground, his hands wrapped around his neck. Despite not being able to breathe, Sinner was still laughing his ass off. Chris and Hunter stood over Cap with Cazzo and Burg, and together, they pulled Cap off Sinner.

Cap shook the guys off and jabbed a finger in Sinner’s direction. “Don’t you ever say shit like that again.”

“Are we back to this again? I’ve seen your wife’s pussy. I’m pretty sure that saying she has a nice rack is pretty minor in comparison.”

Rocco and Storm looked to each other while the rest of us tried to hold in our laughter. Sinner just couldn’t resist egging Cap on.

“So, you suggest that we send my wife in as a prostitute because she has a nice rack?”

“Well, and because she likes to throw grenades. You give her that and you’re gonna get some serious head. I would offer up Cara, but she’s pregnant. I’m not sure a pregnant hooker would be the best example of our best merchandise.”

“Yeah, never mind the fact that she was held by a murderer for ten days,” Cazzo huffed. “Let’s just toss her into a prostitution ring while we’re at it.”

“Hey, she can kick some serious ass now. You saw her when we were training. She’s got some bite to her, always has. Now it’s just in the form of a kickass woman in leather pants,” he grinned.

“Let’s say that we entertain the thought of asking our wives to pitch in,” Cap said, “We would only have Maggie, Claire, Ali, Lola, Lindsey, Emma, Ivy, and Raegan.”

“Not Raegan,” Jackson cut in. “She’s been part of this whole thing from day one. She’s just as much a liability as Florrie.”

“Right, so that’s only seven women. That’s not enough women.”

“And since you only have two people that can go in, and one of them would be part of the prostitutes, you need a different team to go in with Knight,” Mark pointed out. “Otherwise, you’re sending him in with no backup.”

Cap sighed and pulled out his phone. “I guess it’s time to call in a favor with Cash.”

  CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

  Morgan

“I want to go too. He took my child away from me!”

“I know,” Chance said in exasperation. “Trust me, I get how much you want this, but if he sees you before we’re ready, it could blow the whole operation.”

“So, I’m just supposed to sit back and let everyone else take this guy down?”

“He’ll pay, Morgan. I promise you that.”

I was irritated beyond belief. I wanted to take out my frustrations somehow, but it wasn’t fair to take them out on Chance. He was doing everything he could for me. I just had to be patient and be happy that this guy was going to die and I could get my life back. But what would that be like?

“Morgan, I can see those wheels turning. Tell me what you’re thinking.”

“Chance, what’s happening with us? Where do we go from here?”

He blew out a breath and pulled me down to sit on the bed with him. “Honestly, I’ve just been taking this one day at a time. I know that’s a shitty answer and it doesn’t give you any idea of where my head is, but that’s all I’ve got. I know that I don’t want you and Payton to go anywhere. I like having you in my bed. I like spending time with your daughter. You both make me feel like I’m normal. She’s so fucking innocent and she doesn’t look at me like I’m damaged. And you’re probably just as fucked up as I am, so we kind of cancel each other out.”

“I don’t need a promise of the future. I just need to know if when this is over if you still want us around. I don’t want to get my hopes up and I don’t want Payton hanging on to someone that won’t be around when this is over.”

“I want you in my life. If I didn’t think I would sound like a pussy, I would beg you not to leave me.”

I grinned and gave him a kiss. Leaning against his shoulder, I let him wrap his arm ar
ound me and lay me down on the bed with him. This was all I needed for now. The future was never promised, so I didn’t mind not having that. But I wasn’t ashamed to say that I needed Chance. He made me feel whole, like everything that had happened wouldn’t define us.

“Promise me something.” I turned to him and waited for him to agree. “If you think this isn’t going to work, just be honest with me. I can deal with anything as long as I know what’s going on in your head.”

He huffed a small laugh. “If I knew what was going on in my head, I wouldn’t be in this fucked up state right now. But I’ll always tell you what’s going on with me. I want you and Payton more than anything, but I need to get my shit straight so I can be the man you both deserve. So, instead of talking about forever, let’s just agree to go with the flow for now and take it one step at a time.”

“I can do that. Just one last thing.” His eyes flickered with worry. “If this is going to work, I’m going to need you to fuck me a lot. And not the sweet shit. I want hard, ass pounding, wall breaking sex.”

“It’ll be hard,” he said with a sigh, “but a man’s gotta do whatever he needs to for his woman.”

  CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

  Knight

“You’d better not fucking shoot him,” Chance said to me over coms.

“Don’t worry, I have no plans of shooting him.”

“Yeah,” Hunter snorted. “He never has plans to do anything until he gets pissed off.”

I was in the back seat of a town car while Cash Owens, the owner of OPS, drove shotgun with Red Warren, one of his men. Eli Brant and Brad Kavanaugh, Red’s teammates, were in the van with the women as backup. It wasn’t a whole hell of a lot of men, but I wasn’t exactly unprepared for this trip. I had multiple weapons on me and Reed Security and the rest of OPS were scattered around the perimeter of the property, waiting to shoot when I gave the signal. Becky and Rob had come in the early morning hours and helped me set a loop on all the security cameras and took down the sensors where needed. We were as prepared as we could be on such short notice.

“I’ve gotten myself under control over the past few years. I haven’t killed anyone in-”

“A year, one year, Knight,” Cap said. “Our deal was that you weren’t going to kill anyone anymore.”

“Well, shit happens. Maybe I should have walked away and let them kill all of you. Besides, when it comes to normal people, name the last person that I killed.”

  “The Blood Devils,” Chris said.

  “Gang members. They don’t count.”

“Well, there were the bank robbers,” Derek chimed in. “You weren’t supposed to be in the bank that day.”

“They were fucking bank robbers. They aren’t normal people.”

“What about that recruit you almost killed when he shot you?” Hunter asked.

“But I didn’t kill him, did I? See, I’m showing restraint.”

“We’re pulling up to the estate,” Cash said from the front seat. “Are you sure you’re ready for this? This is one crazy fuck we’re dealing with.”

“Obviously, you don’t know me very well.”

“Cap, I gotta tell you, you sure know how to pick cocky assholes.”

“Trust me when I tell you that Knight is the guy for this job.”

“And you trust him with your wife?”

“I wouldn’t go that far. I mean, he did hold a knife to my wife’s throat when she was pregnant.”

“And you employed him?” Cash said incredulously.

  “You’ll see why.”

That was the last thing anyone said as we pulled up to the gates. Cash rolled down his window at the gate to speak with the guard. “We’re here to see Mr. Wick.”

“Do you have an appointment?” the guard asked.

“We have some merchandise that he’ll be interested in. Tell him that Mr. Knight is here to see him.”

The guard went back to the guard house and made a phone call. I watched through the window as he spoke on the phone. He kept glancing back at the car and I knew this was going to take some strong-arming. I opened the door, stepping out in my black suit and black shirt. I fucking hated dressing in this shit, but a situation like this called for me to look the part of a businessman. I removed my shades so the guards could see my eyes and I let the killer in me take over.

I walked over to the guard shack and kicked in the door. The guard scrambled backwards and fell into the other wall. I pulled my gun and pointed it at his head. “Give me the phone right now.”

He fumbled for his weapon, but stopped when I placed a shot in his knee cap. He screamed in pain, dropping the phone in the process. I bent over and picked it up, dusting off my jacket as I stood.

“This is Knight. If you don’t want me to shoot your guard, I suggest you get your ass out here to speak with me.”

“That wasn’t the move we were going for,” Cap swore in my ear.

“I don’t give a fuck who you are,” Chief snarled. “You don’t come to my house and demand to see me, and you sure as fuck don’t get an audience if you shoot my guard.”

  “You’ll come out.”

  “What makes you think so?”

“Because I have the product you want and services only I can provide.”

I watched the guard squirm as he put pressure on his leg wound.

“What makes you think you have anything I want?”

“Let’s just say that I’ve chosen to come out of retirement and I’m looking for a big paycheck.”

“Fuck, Knight, don’t do this. You’re going to fuck everything up that we’ve done for you,” Cap hissed in my ear.

“I’ll give you to the count of five to decide and then I’ll have a demonstration for you, free of charge.”

  He was silent.

  “Five.”

  “Oh, fuck,” Cap swore.

  “Four.”

“I don’t work with people that threaten me.”

  “Three.”

“Knight, think about Kate,” Hunter yelled.

  “Two.”

  “Weapons ready,” Cap ordered.

  “One.”

I pulled the trigger, killing the guard and then burst through the broken door, firing two more bullets into the stunned guards outside the shack. Tucking the gun back in my holster, I made a running leap, catching onto the top of the fence and threw myself over. Before I even hit the ground, I pulled two guns and started firing, taking out anyone that was in my path.

“Holy shit,” Cash yelled. “Where’d you find this guy?”

Men in tactical gear started pouring out from the sides of the house, but none fired, as I suspected they wouldn’t. Chief wanted to see what I would do. I fired at both sides of the house until I reached the Bugatti parked out in front. I ducked behind it for cover and popped up, firing off to the right side of the house, taking out five of the guards. I released the magazine and reloaded, moving to the other side of the car. The men advanced quickly, not even trying to find cover. It was ballsy, but dangerous. And they were going to pay for their stupidity.

I ducked under the car and jabbed my knife into the gas tank five times so the oxygen could get in. They were almost here. The gasoline leaked out and away from the car. I pulled my flint from my pocket and quickly slashed my knife across it, igniting the vapors of the gasoline. A flush of flames rushed toward the car, climbing into the gas tank. I ran, just barely making it away from the car before the flames hit the gas tank. The explosion was instantaneous. The men that were on the other side were immediately caught in the blowback.

More men poured from the house, but I only had two bullets left. I took out the two men that moved efficiently with my gun. I grinned as five men ran toward me. Flipping the knife in my hand, I let the calm of my inner killer take over. I flicked the button on my suit jacket and rushed them.

I slammed the knife into the first guy’s throat and ducked just as a bullet came at my head. Kicking out, I slammed my foot into the next guy’s stom
ach and brought my knife down at the base of his skull as he bent over. I flipped over his back, grabbing his gun and firing at the next guy. I used his body as a shield and could have just used his gun on the last two, but now that I was killing, I wasn’t ready to stop until I felt the flush of blood under my fingernails.

I threw my knife into the fourth guy’s chest before shoving the fifth guy’s gun away and jabbing him in the kidneys a few times. Grabbing him by the head, I spun him around and swiftly broke his neck. The fourth guy knelt on the ground, blood dripping from his mouth as he looked up at me for mercy. There was no mercy for a man like this. He was on the wrong side and I would gladly end his pitiful life. I twisted the knife in his chest, ensuring that he suffered before he died. His cries of pain felt like a stiff breeze on a hot day to me. I yanked the knife out and slammed the knife into his eye socket. He tipped to the side, collapsing to the ground. I bent over and pulled out my knife, wiping the blood on the leg of my pants.

“That was really fucked up,” Cash said. “I think I’m a little turned on.”

“Leave it at that, Knight.” Cap’s voice was firm, his meaning loud and clear, but I had come this far. I might as well take it all the way.

“Everyone will be dead by the end of the day. As long as everyone at OPS can keep their mouths shut, we have nothing to worry about.”

“What the fuck is he talking about?” Cash asked.

“It’s better if you don’t know,” Cap said.

“He’s about to find out in thirty seconds.”

  “Find out what?”

Chief stepped out of the house, dressed in all black like me. The difference was, he felt the need to carry a rifle to come face me. I just had my knife and I didn’t need anything else. More men followed him out of the house and came around the sides of the house, surrounding me and pointing their weapons at me. Well, fuck. It looked like I wouldn’t be able to just snatch him and go.

“Don’t do anything yet. There’s something else going on at the house,” Cap informed me. “He must have women here. There’s way more security than there should be.”
