I glanced over at Blayd, nodding at him.

He turned to me. “Are you sure you’re okay with me going?”

“I’ll be fine,” I replied. “This place is locked up tight, it’s out of the way. And no one knows that I’m here. I’m probably safer here than out there with you,”

He nodded. “It’s only for a few hours. If you hear anything, or you feel unsafe, I’m going to need you to call me, okay?”

“Of course, Blayd. I’m going to do a bit of research on my own, look up a few of those names and addresses to see what I can find in the meantime.”

I watched them all leave, and it was the first time being alone in days, all by myself in the big clubhouse. The place was truly starting to feel like home, though. I sat on the couch in the living room, remembering how just a few nights ago, Blayd was pushing me up against the wall by the bar, kissing every inch of my body. I couldn’t wait until things finally settled down again, so I could feel that kind of pleasure all over again.

He protected me like no one ever had in my entire life, and that lack of protection in the very beginning was why I ended up doing what I did for a living in the first place. It was a way for me to take back control of my own life. I never thought I would be in a position where I would ever lean on someone else’s shoulder, but Blayd made it easy for me. I trusted him, and I trusted the rest of the Reckless Riders as well, knowing they all had good intentions.

I thought about the day at the warehouse, how we all managed to work together, tearing through the Dawn Vultures until there was barely anything left. I left the warehouse that day feeling powerful, and even though I felt the fear creep back in sometimes when I’d least expect it, it was a feeling I had to remember if we were ever going to see the other side of this war.

I headed into the bedroom that quickly became my own though it belonged to Blayd. I took a hot shower. I now strode into the bedroom pulling my hair back into a low bun while I kept the towel tied firmly around my body. The room filled with steam from the bathroom, and I felt the droplets trickle down my back, as I curled up on the bed, opening up my laptop I’d brought with me from my apartment.

Scrolling through each photo I’d taken from the little book, I searched through my databases and past contacts to see if something lined up. There has to be a few names in here that I’ve seen before, especially if my employer, who is probably Scorpion, was referred to by another client. I noticed a name that stuck out to me. Henry Rogier. I glanced down at the address written directly underneath it. I had done a job for him a few years back, getting rid of one of his business rivals. I never thought I would ever see his name wrapped up in something like this, but if there was one thing I knew about him, it is that he had an extensive list of business ventures. The man liked to do more than just own things. I looked up the address in the search engine to see that it was a lumber mill not too far from where we were located.

I had a strange feeling in my stomach, like I’d just found a crucial piece of the puzzle, but I had absolutely no idea how it fit into anything just yet. I decided to hold onto the information, wait until Blayd got back, so I could tell him myself. Making sure my gun was loaded, I set it on the nightstand then slipped into a large t-shirt, curling up beneath the sheets, trying to fall asleep, but I could hear the wind howling outside the bedroom window. It made me shudder, I tried to convince myself that I was just being paranoid. No one else knew I was here except for some of the Reckless Riders. I may be alone for the time being, but I had to remember there were so many other members that passed through here all the time, so I shouldn’t let a few small noises scare me.

I clutched the pillow, shutting my eyes, while I tried to focus on enjoying the rest, because I had a feeling that once Blayd and everyone else got back, it wouldn’t be long before we were heading straight for Scorpion himself. I knew it would be bittersweet to see the man in person. See him as he lost everything. The man who’d tried to hurt me, but ended up driving me right into the arms of a Reckless Rider member, so I would inevitably become one myself.

I was finally drifting off to sleep when I heard a sound coming from the back of the house where my bedroom was. I tried to brush it off, but when I heard it again, I immediately rose to my feet. Grabbing my weapon, I realized it was not the sound of someone coming through the front door. I glanced over at the digital clock on the nightstand to see I’d been in bed for four hours. I rushed to the door, opening it up slowly. I heard the sound of someone coming up the stairs. They’re being too quiet for this to be normal. I held my gun and stepped behind the door.

I saw the shadow of the man in the dark hallway start to approach me, I raised my gun and clicked the safety off. As he stepped forward, I butted his face with the base of my weapon.

“Ow! God damn it…Angelina! It’s me!” Blayd called.

I immediately felt terrible, because I could’ve sworn that it had been someone trying to sneak in to kidnap me when I’d finally managed to fall asleep. “Blayd! Why the fuck didn’t you use the front door?” I asked.

“I thought you were sleeping, and I didn’t want to wake you,” he said, chuckling.

“Let me get a look at that,” I said, inching closer to him, so I could see the cut on his face, and the slight trickle of blood that was making its way down his cheek.

“It’s okay, I’m okay. I promise,” he said.

“No, you’re not. Do you guys have a first-aid kit somewhere in here?”

“First-aid kit, no. High-grade medical supplies, yes.”

  I laughed. It figured.

We both headed downstairs into one of the back rooms where he pulled out a few supplies that would get him cleaned up, trying to take care of it himself.

I snatched the cotton ball away from him. “Allow me. I did this after all.”

He gave in, sitting down, so I could reach his cheek. I cleaned up the bit of blood there, watching as he didn’t even wince. The man did have such a stoic face. I’d never met anyone who could close his expression up so well.

He smiled at me, and grabbing me by the hips, he pulled me closer. I felt the heat between us, the need for him to touch me the same way he did before. His eyes lowered to my lips, leaning in, and I pressed mine firmly against his. His soft kisses turned into fiery ones, as he slowly uncovered every urge I’d been swallowing since the last time we’d slept together.

  “I really startled you, huh?”

“I’m sure you can find a way to make it up to me,” I whispered, feeling his arms wrap around me, lifting my legs up around his torso so he could carry me off into the bedroom. It felt good to be with him again, to feel his skin brush against mine, reminding me that every time he touched me, he ignited something inside of me that hadn’t been there before. He laid me down on the bed, hiking up my large t-shirt to reveal my black lace panties. His fingers brushed over them and I instantly got wet at the thought of what he was about to do to me.

We shut ourselves away from the night, forgetting everything that we had to worry about.

His hands grabbed both of my breasts underneath my t-shirt, hiking it up further, so he could get a good look at my body. His finger brushed against my nipple, leading it into his mouth, while I threw my head back, letting out a light moan, wrapping my legs around him, feeling his weight on top of me. I could see that his hard cock desperately wanted to be let out from his tight jeans. He got up for a moment to slip them off, along with his boxers until I was staring right at his impressive length. I got off the bed, onto my knees, taking his cock between my lips as I sucked on it, toying with his tip. I felt his hands in my hair, tugging on it, as I guided it down my throat, feeling it hit the back while I closed my lips around it.

He was rock solid, ready for more, and I wanted him to fuck me relentlessly.

He did lunge into my mouth with a few greedy thrusts, then he lifted my head up, pushing me onto the bed, holding my legs open while he slapped his hard cock against my wet pussy. I looked up at him, while his ey
es scanned down my body, at my flushed skin, begging for more. He slipped his dick inside of me, thrusting deeper with every second, until he was ramming it nice and hard. I gripped the bed sheets for support, holding on for dear life, as he took me on a phenomenal ride. He lifted my legs up to his shoulders, holding them there tightly while he drove into me intensely deep, feeling the warmth of my pussy with every stroke, and I could barely keep my eyes open.

My body was on fire, holding his head close to me, running my fingers through his hair, feeling us both start to sweat just as he picked up the pace. I couldn’t keep my moans in any longer, quickly turning to screams, as he sent an orgasm shooting through me, with my entire body shaking under him. His hands reached for my throat, squeezing gently while he bit his lip, ramming his cock further inside of me, wanting to see the look on my face when he finally came.

I felt his warmth fill me up, as he bent down to kiss me.

This was truly the best I’d felt in a very long time.

We’d both had a shower, crawling into bed together, and having him hold me there made me feel safe, so much so that I nearly forgot what I had learned when he’d been out. I turned to him, planting a soft kiss on his lips.

He could instantly tell something was on my mind. “What is it?”

“When you were out, I had time to look over the contacts in the little black book we found, and I think I stumbled upon something interesting. Henry Rogier. I did a job for him a few years back, and when I received the disguised call from my employer before making my way into the city, he had said that he was referred to by one of my clients. It’s possible that my employer has been Scorpion all along, as everything points directly to him. The address underneath Rogier’s name is for a lumber mill, and I have a hunch that might be where Scorpion is hiding out. If not, it has to be connected somehow.”

He nodded. “It’s definitely worth checking out. We have to meet with the rest of the club by the pier tomorrow. I’m sure we can get enough men to come with us, because if it is where Scorpion is hiding, then we’re going to need back up when we start scoping the place out. We have to plan for this one, because the minute chaos erupts, there will be no going back.”

I couldn’t have agreed more. “Tomorrow then. I can feel it, Blayd. We’re finally on our way to finishing this thing.”

  “Yes, we are.”

I fell asleep comfortably in his arms, and we were both out cold for a while, but I woke up incredibly thirsty. I eased out of his hold, making sure not to wake him up as I slipped back into what I’d been wearing, heading downstairs into the kitchen.

I heard another noise coming from the back door, but I could hear the rain overhead, knowing there must be a storm brewing outside. I took a deep breath, filling a glass of water, and gulping it down with my back turned to the rest of the house, while I faced the sink. I heard another noise, something that sounded like a light crash, and it startled me. I told myself it had to be another club member, coming in from a long night, hoping to crash in one of the other rooms.

Something about it didn’t feel right though, so I inched closer to the back door, hearing footsteps. Before I could turn around to see who had come up behind me, someone grabbed me and held a cloth firmly over my mouth.

I tried to scream, I knew it was chloroform, though nobody used that shit anymore. I even tossed my head back to hit him with it so he would let me loose, but it didn’t work. I tried to fight him off, but it was no use. I couldn’t even make a sound as I tried to keep my eyes open, and just like that—I was out cold.

  Missing in Action

I woke up to the stream of sunlight coming in through the bedroom window. I turned to my side, feeling for Angelina, but she wasn’t there. I didn’t think much of it at first, but when I got out of bed looking for her, I couldn’t find her anywhere. The clubhouse was filled with prospects and other members, all of which I frantically began asking if they saw Angelina anywhere.

None of them had seen her.

I now felt panic, wondering if something had happened to her. I rushed upstairs, slipping into a t-shirt, before heading straight for the front door, so I could go out and look for her. “Have you seen Scotch?” I asked one of the prospects who was tuning his bike.

“I think he’s down at the Lazy Pint this morning with Thrasher,” he replied. “I’d check there.”

I thanked him, hopping onto the back of my bike and taking off. My heart was beating fast, and I was so worried that someone got to her when we let our guards down. She had fallen asleep in my arms as we’d been locked away, enjoying our own little fantasy for the evening. Then to wake up to her missing…I had a bad feeling in my gut.

I sped down the highway, taking a few shortcuts to get to the Lazy Pint as fast as possible. I parked my bike outside, then ran inside looking for Scotch. I was panting when I finally met with him.

He stared at me. “What happened, Blayd?”

“Angelina. She’s gone,” I said, still trying to catch my breath.

“What do you mean she’s gone?” Thrasher asked, joining in on the conversation.

“We were both at the clubhouse last night, and she was there when I returned after our weapons run, but when I woke up this morning she was gone. No one at the clubhouse has seen her.”

Scotch immediately tried to calm me down. “Don’t worry, Blayd. We’re going to find her. Did she take anything of hers?”

“She didn’t take anything, Scotch. Her bike is still sitting outside the clubhouse. Someone got to her, and that means they’ve been inside the clubhouse. I know she wouldn’t just take off like that.”

He nodded his head. “We’ll get everyone on it. She’s one of us, and we will bring her home safely, okay?”

I gave a short nod. I thought about the night we spent together, about how safe we both felt there, realizing that it was only a matter of time before we had to walk into battle, again. I looked around at each of their faces, and they all looked worried, convinced just as much as I was that Angelina had to have been taken right under our noses.

“We have to find her before Scorpion does something terrible.” I wanted to head out immediately.

Scotch was trying to talk me down. Even I knew that we weren’t going to get anywhere until I started to think with a clear head again. I felt so guilty because I was the one that promised Angelina that she would be safe with me. I couldn’t even imagine what she must be going through, having to deal with being captured by Scorpion and the rest of the Dawn Vultures after having evaded them for so long. The entire idea of it made me sick. Scorpion was going to do whatever he fucking wanted with her, just because he could.

I had to live up to my promise, do whatever it took to get her back, to make sure Scorpion paid for what he’d done…I’d never felt a fire burn so intensely inside of me before. I never felt this kind of rage before. It was time I faced the truth. I was falling for Angelina. She’d changed me in ways I didn’t even realize, making me care and wanting to be a better man. I stood there, trying to figure out how whoever took her managed to do it without making a sound. To think they’d managed to pull that off without so much as making me stir in my sleep was driving me crazy. I wasn’t going to stop now until we took down every Dawn Vultures member in our way to get Angelina back.

“I need you to pull it together, Blayd,” Scotch broke into my mental tirade. “I know this is hard for you. We all want to see her make a safe return, but what we’re not going to do is go off half-cocked. The last thing we need is for you to get wrapped up in this mess with her. We have to find out where they’re holding her, and only then will we move in.”

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to listen to him, because the thought of Angelina fighting for her life, having to defend herself against an entire band of Dawn Vultures members made my stomach turn. I knew she would do everything in her power to save me if the situation had been reversed. Scotch was right though. If I lost myself, got taken in by the Dawn Vultures to be kil
led, the Reckless Riders would’ve lost two members, and I wasn’t going to allow that to happen either. “So, what do you expect me to do? Wait around for a location while she’s probably trying to hold onto what’s left of her life?” I asked.

“Don’t raise your voice at me, Blayd. I need you to calm the fuck down, and tell me whatever you remember from last night. I’m telling you that we will get her back. None of us will rest until she’s safe. Trust me on this, okay?”

I took a deep breath, glaring at him for a moment before I let out a breath. I now tried to focus. “I have something that might be useful. I wouldn’t put it past Scorpion to hide Angelina in plain sight, and after what she told me last night, I think I know where we can start looking. Something tells me this is going to be much bigger than the warehouse stunt we pulled, but I’m ready if you are.” I told Scotch all of the information that Angelina gave me about the client she had worked for years ago.

He called a meeting, instructing every prospect and member of the Reckless Riders to follow us in formation, riding out to the old lumber mill where I hoped to sneak in, find Angelina, and get her out of there before things went south. I knew we were going to have to rush in there, guns blazing to make sure he knew we were fucking serious. If I couldn’t manage to sneak my way in first. I thought about all of the time Angelina and I had spent together. I thought about nothing but her the whole ride down there. I had to believe she was holding on and still alive, because if not, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to come back from it.

Keep your head up, Raider Girl. We’re coming for you.

We were coming up on one of the biggest take downs that I’d ever seen since becoming a prospect for the Reckless Riders myself. Scotch had told me countless stories about things like this happening for years, about the Dawn Vultures doing any and everything they could think of in order to take them down, but it wasn’t until this very moment that I realized how difficult it was now, since Scorpion had made it personal. Angelina had been the driving force behind a lot of our plans to unravel the Dawn Vultures, and if she hadn’t been around, we wouldn’t have been able to find out where they’d been hiding out all this time. As we got closer to the lumber mill, I worried this whole lumberyard thing might just be leading to nowhere.
