Suddenly desire erupted inside them both, as they pulled at each other’s clothes, making short work of removing them.

Liam stopped, looking down at Lexi’s naked body. She was even more perfect than he remembered. But then he noticed a scar running across the bottom of her stomach. He had no idea what it could be from, but he knew now was not the right time to ask. Right now, it was about them finding each other once more.

Liam smiled and stared down into her eyes.

“I thought I lost you, Lex” he whispered, as he bent down, brushing his lips against her. “I’m sorry that I hurt you. I promise I will never hurt you again. I can’t live without you. Lexi. You’re my world.”

He slid between her legs, the head of his swollen cock pressed against her soft folds. Slowly he pushed into her, his eyes never leaving hers, his movements were slow and tender. It felt so good and so familiar. She was the only girl he had ever made love to. Since then, every other girl had been just sex, but being with Lexi again, he knew this was where he belonged. This was what he wanted for the rest of his life.

Liam pushed deeper and deeper into her over and over again. He released her mouth from his; he stared down into her eyes. This was everything he had ever wanted, and now he had her, he was never going to let her go again.

“LIAM!” Lexi cried out as he pushed her on higher, his pace quickened as he pulled her closer to him. He knew she was close, and he longed to hear her cry out in pleasure.

“Oh, God, YES!” Lexi cried as she came apart. She held onto Liam so tightly; they were now almost one. The sound of her pleasure was the most perfect sound in the world. It was Liam’s undoing. He slammed into her three more times, before he too erupted inside her with sheer pleasure, crying out her name.

Collapsing down onto the bed, they both lay together, breathlessly entwined in each other’s arms, each lost in their own feeling of complete bliss for what felt like an eternity. Liam finally lifted his head. He looked down at Lexi before he leaned down and softly kissed her lips

“Hey you,” he whispered, unable to hide the feeling of pure joy he felt inside him.

“Hey yourself,” Lexi replied, giving him the most beautiful smile he had ever seen.

“Lex, I’m sorry I broke your heart,” he whispered as he pressed his forehead against hers. “I promise I will never hurt you again. I will never do anything that will cause you a moment’s pain. Lexi, you are my future. I was so lost without you in my life. I don’t care what the future holds, just as long as I have you in it. You mean everything to me, Lexi.”

Lexi didn’t reply. Instead, she leaned up and kissed him softly on the lips.

“Does that mean you want a future with me?” Liam asked, looking down into her eyes once more.

“I do… but…” Lexi began, but Liam pressed his lips to hers.

“Please, don’t say but,” Liam whispered against her mouth.

“But there are things you don’t know,” Lexi replied as she took his face in her hands. “Things about me that you need to know.”

“I don’t care about any of that right now,” Liam said, giving her a pleading look. “Whatever it is, we can face together. As long as I have you by my side, then there is nothing I can’t face… that we can’t face together.”

“I know,” she said, giving him another smile. “But we still need to talk.”

“Okay,” Liam sighed, knowing that there was no point in arguing with her. “Just not tonight. Please. Tonight is about you and me.”

“Okay,” Lexi sighed, but then gave him a broad smile.

“Good,” Liam whispered as once more he claimed her mouth with his. “Because we have a lot of lost time to make up for, and I intend to take my time doing it.”

Lexi squealed as he rolled over onto his back, taking her with him, so now she was above him.

“Now,” he purred as he sat up in the bed. “I want to see you as you come apart above me. Show me what you’ve got.”

Lexi laughed, as Liam claimed her mouth once more.

  Chapter 15

Liam lay in bed, staring at Lexi, who was still fast asleep beside him. He had barely slept a wink all night, afraid if he did, he would wake up, and she would be gone again. He didn’t know how or why, but she was there, in his bed. Somehow she was back, and now he was never going to lose her again.

He took in every inch of her beautiful face. Every line, every crease, he committed it to memory.

She had said the night before that she and Eric were over. Liam was sure he hadn’t imagined it. But still, as he lay there, watching her sleep, he was so afraid that this was all too good to be true.

Suddenly she opened her eyes, and the biggest smile spread across her face the moment she saw Liam.

“Good morning,” she whispered with a sleepy voice, nuzzling in closer to him.

“Good morning,” he replied, feeling almost relieved she seemed happy to be there. “How did you sleep?”

“Really well,” Lexi replied, looking up into his eyes. He didn’t know why, but he sensed there was something she wanted to say, something she was worried about, but she didn’t. Instead, she just gave him one of her beautiful smiles.

“I’ve missed this,” he said, leaning forward, kissing her softly on the lips. “I’ve missed you.”

“I’ve missed you too,” she whispered, inching her body even closer to his.

Liam grinned before he rolled her onto her back, then quickly settled above her, looking down into her eyes.

“I know I hurt you in the past, Lexi,” Liam said, needing to tell her exactly how he was feeling inside. “But I’m not the same man I used to be. Since losing you, I made such a mess of my life. But now I have you back, I know what I want, and I know what I have to lose. I also know, however that it will take you some time to trust me again, and I understand why. Just promise me that you will give me a chance to prove that I will never let you down again. I want you to trust me. I want you to let me in.”

“I know you won’t,” Lexi replied as she reached up, softly touching his face. “But a lot has happened since that night, to us both. Things you don’t know; things that are hard for me to talk about. I promise I will tell you everything. I just… I just need time. Time to be sure that you and I are good. I want this to work too.”

“You can have all the time you need,” Liam said, giving her a broad smile. “Because I promise, I’m going nowhere.”

Lexi just smiled, before Liam claimed her lips once more.

Lexi sat at the breakfast counter in Liam’s kitchen, watching him cook breakfast for them both. Liam had insisted he was the one doing the cooking, as she was still recovering from the bump to her head.

“Are you sure there isn’t something I can do?” Lexi said as she shifted uncomfortably on her stool. “I’m not an invalid. My head doesn’t even hurt anymore.”

“I never said you were an invalid,” Liam laughed, glancing up from what he was doing, to stick his tongue out at Lexi. “I just want to make you breakfast, and I wanted you to rest. I don’t want Dylan kicking my ass for letting you overdo things. Though, I’m not sure he would have approved of last night’s events or this morning’s for that matter.”

“Okay,” she replied with a laugh as her face blushed a little. Liam loved that he could still make her blush so easily.

A few minutes later, Liam set two plates down on the breakfast bar, then took the stool next to Lexi. They both ate in silence for a few minutes, each lost in their own thoughts.

Liam glanced over at Lexi and sighed to himself when he saw the frown on her face. He knew that Lexi was worried about something. He knew her well enough to know that much. He just had no clue what that something might be.

“So,” he finally said, setting down his fork, knowing that whatever it was, needed to be said. “Are you ever going to say what’s on your mind?”

“Me?” Lexi asked, gulping down the food she had in her mouth. “What makes you think I have something on my
mind?”

“Because I know you,” Liam replied, giving her a smile. “Okay, I know a lot has happened, and maybe a lot has changed in five years… but some things don’t. You’re worried. It’s written all over your face. I know you said you need time, but please, let me in. Tell me what I can do to help you right now?”

“It nothing for you to worry about,” she sighed, setting her fork down too. “Honestly…”

“Then if it’s nothing for me to worry about,” Liam replied. “Why can’t you tell me?”

“Because I know you,” Lexi smiled. “I know you’ll want to fix everything…”

“And what’s wrong with that?” Liam said, giving her a questioning look. “If we are going to make this work? If we are going to do this? Then I’m all in. Why don’t you get that?”

Lexi stared at him for a moment, then sighed, before she smiled back at him.

“I was thinking about Eric,” she said, surprising Liam with her response. He wasn’t sure he wanted to hear the rest of the sentence, but he had insisted she talked to him, so he couldn’t back out now. “Well, not Eric as such, more what I’m going to do now that he and I have broken up?”

“I don’t understand,” Liam said, not really following where she was going with this.

“I live with him, Liam,” Lexi said, with a nervous giggle. “And after yesterday, I don’t think he will be that crazy about the idea of staring at me across the breakfast counter each morning.”

“So you need somewhere to live?” Liam said, still not sure why she was so worried. For him, this was a no brainer. “Then move in here.”

“Be serious, Liam,” Lexi laughed, picking up her fork, returning her attention back to her breakfast. “We’ve been back together all of twelve hours. I really don’t think moving in together is the most sensible idea in the world.”

“Why ever not?” Liam asked turning completely in his chair to face Lexi. “Lexi, this is me. This is us. I don’t want to simply date you again. I want to build a life with you.”

“But we need to get to know each other again,” Lexi reasoned, but Liam was not going to back down.

“Yes, maybe we do,” he continued, turning her to face him in her seat. “But I don’t need time to know that I love you. I don’t need time to know that this is forever.”

“Liam,” Lexi sighed, taking his face into her hands. “We’ve just found each other again. Moving in would be a crazy thing to do. It’s too soon.”

“Lexi, we have lost five years,” Liam replied, refusing to back down. “Five years because I made the biggest mistake of my life. I’m not going to lose you again. Besides, I don’t want you living on your own in this city while this asshole is still out there.”

Lexi stared at Liam, and for the first time since she arrived at his apartment the day before, Liam could see a look of complete fear in her eyes.

“You… you don’t think he’ll come looking for me?” She asked, the colour draining from her face, making Liam instantly regret his choice of words.

“What? No!” Liam said, instinctively wrapping his arms around her. “There is no reason to believe that he would.”

“But… but I got away,” Lexi whispered, lifting her head, looking up into his eyes. “What if he comes back…”

“Lexi,” Liam said, taking her by the arms, holding her at arm’s length. “I am going to catch this asshole, I’ll make sure he never hurts anyone else. And I give you my word; I will do whatever it takes to keep you safe. Just say yes; say you’ll move in with me.”

“But…” she began to argue, but Liam kissed her on the lips.

“Please,” Liam whispered, giving her a smile.

She stared at him for a moment, and Liam had no idea what she was thinking. Finally, she smiled, then leaned into him, pressing her lips to his.

“Is that a yes?” Liam asked.

“Yes,” she replied. “I guess it is a yes. Thank you, Liam.”

“No, Lexi,” Liam said with the biggest smile. “Thank you. Now, eat your breakfast.”

“Yes, Sir,” Lexi laughed as she picked up her fork once more. “Oh, and the eggs are gorgeous. A girl could get used to this.”

“A boy would be happy to feed his girl every day,” Liam replied, picking up his fork too.

They both sat in a now comfortable silence, eating their breakfast.

Liam was so happy; he could have almost burst.

Twenty four hours earlier, his heart was broken, and he had no clue what he was going to do next. Now, the woman he loved was sitting beside him and also had just agreed to move back in with him. It was almost like a dream. Liam just hoped it was one he would never wake up from.

He thought about the night before, about how it felt to have her back in his arms; back in his bed. It had been everything he had imagined it would be and more.

His cock twitched as he remembered how good it felt to touch her body once more, how amazing the sound of her coming undone was. She was perfect in every single way.

He picked up his coffee, reliving every little moment in his mind once more. Then he remembered something that had been bothering him a little, but he didn’t know why. As he made love to her, he noticed a scar. One that ran across the bottom of her stomach. Something had happened to her. Something he hadn’t known about. She was sick, and he hadn’t been there for her. He hated that they had lost those five years together.

  Still, his curiosity was piqued.

“Lex,” Liam said, setting down his coffee, turning to her once more.

“Umhmm,” she said as she tried to swallow her mouthful of food quickly.

“Last night,” he said, giving her a curious look. “When we were… I noticed a scar on your stomach.”

The moment the words were out, Lexi froze, and Liam instantly regretted his question. But now, more than ever, he wanted to know the answer too.

“Yeah,” she replied, setting her fork down, pushing her plate away. She didn’t look at him, and something told Liam, he wasn’t going to like her answer.

“What happened to you?” He asked, wondering if maybe he should have left well enough alone. Still, he had asked now, so there was no going back. They were having this conversation.

“It’s not important” she whispered, finally turning to look at him. “Not right now.”

“Of course it’s important, Lexi,” he replied, as he reached out, taking hold of her. “Everything that happens to you is important to me.”

“I know,” Lexi said, giving him a strange look. “But right now, I just want to think about you and me…”

Before either of them could say any more. The buzzer sounded throughout the apartment.

“Shit!” Liam exclaimed, looking at his watch.

“What is it?” Lexi asked, giving him a worried look.

“I forgot it was Sunday,” Liam explained as he stood up from his stool. “Every Sunday we all meet up at Mom’s for brunch.”

  The buzzer sounded once more.

“I guess that’s the search party here to find me,” Liam sighed as he turned and headed towards the living room. “They tend to get all bent out of shape when I go MIA.”

“You go MIA?” Lexi replied, as she followed him out into the living room, then down the hallway towards the door. “Why do you do that?”

Liam looked at her, but he didn’t reply. He had no clue where to even begin to explain this to her; and right at that moment, he didn’t have the time either.

  The buzzer sounded again.

“I’m sorry,” he said, giving Lexi an apologetic smile. “I need to answer them because they are not going to go away.”

“Okay,” she nodded, as Liam reached up and pressed down on the intercom.

“I’m okay,” Liam said, getting straight to the point.

“Then why weren’t you at Mom’s?” Dylan replied, sounding less than convinced.

“It’s a long story,” he said, looking at Lexi, giving her a bright smile. “Why don’t you come
on up?”

He pressed down on the button to open the door into the building, then put the apartment door on the latch, before he turned and led Lexi back into the living room.

“I’m sorry about this,” he laughed, giving her a nervous smile. He knew he would have to tell her about how bad things got for him when they broke up, but right now they were happy, and he didn’t want to ruin that. “Dylan thinks I need him to look after me, but of course I don’t. But he won’t go away until he knows I’m okay.”

“I’ll go make more coffee,” she said, giving him a kiss on the lips, then a worried look, before she disappeared into the kitchen.

Liam took a deep, calming breath knowing that he and Lexi still had a lot to figure out and even more to talk about. Still, he was sure there was nothing that they couldn’t overcome together.

“Okay, Liam,” Dylan’s voice carried in from the hallway. “Tell me what was so important that you missed brunch again. Mom is officially losing her mind with worry about you.”

“Good Morning, Dylan,” Liam said, turning to face his brother, giving him a broad smile.

“It’s afternoon, Genius,” Dylan shot back impatiently as he slipped off his jacket, throwing it on the armchair. “And this had better be good because I’m getting tired of having to come around here to check on your stupid ass…”

Before he could say another word, Lexi appeared from the kitchen, giving Dylan a nervous smile.

“Lexi!” Dylan exclaimed, looking completely stunned to see her standing there, wearing one of Liam’s oversized shirts.

“Hey Dylan,” she replied before she glanced at Liam. “I guess it’s my fault he missed brunch. I’m sorry.”

“You’ve nothing to be sorry for,” Liam replied, walking towards her, then softly kissing her on the lips.

“So you two are…” Dylan said, looking a little confused. “You’re back together? But… what about Eric? I mean, he knows, right? Please tell me he knows.”

“Yes,” Lexi replied, giving him a nervous smile. “I mean, he knows I still love Liam. I told him the truth yesterday.”
