Chapter 1
Annette
It was late. Normally, I’d just head home and call it a night. But working at the store ended up taking longer than I thought. There was a lot of inventory, and it was a ton of work for one girl, that’s for sure. It was quite boring too if I do say so myself.
I was quite ready to get home. I had two options, though. Take the quick shortcut to my place, going through questionable territory, or take the long way and hope that I get home in one piece.
Needless to say, when I saw the clock strike ten, I knew the quick way was the only way.
When I finished with the inventory, I grabbed my purse, clutching it to my body. My thick, curvy hips pushed the door open so I could step out, and after locking it, I headed on home.
Of course, that was my first mistake.
It was quiet. Too quiet. I thought I’d at least hear an animal or two. But there was nothing. Absolutely nada. And it was creepy. I grabbed my bag, heading down the road, hoping no one would bother me.
I got to the little sidewalk, saw the dirt lot, and of course the bikes there. I knew about the bikers that would stay around. They freaked me out - so big and scary - hunkering messes that made me fret slightly. I tried to avoid them. I was anxious and didn’t see the appeal of befriending one of them.
Of course, that’s what I thought as I walked on. But I guess it wasn’t quite enough because I heard one rev their engine.
I squeaked, rushing past and going down the road.
Of course, that was the first of the hurdles I would have before getting home. The next was the dilapidated area. It was mostly assisted housing that had been long forsaken, and I hated walking by it. Not that I felt guilty; it was because there were always the homeless, looking for something. I felt bad for them, but I had to get home. Luckily, none of them bothered me.
That is, until I felt the knife at my neck.
I gasped, turned about and saw the man, his silver knife dangerously close to my neck.
“N-no…please,” I said.
“Give me your wallet,” he demanded.
I didn’t have any money on me. It was all cards. Would he try to kill me?
“I don’t have money,” I blurted.
The man looked disgruntled, but then he smiled.
“Take off your fucking clothes,” he ordered.
My…clothes? Why did he want them?
“Why, though?” I said.
“Do I need to explain why? Give me your fucking clothes or else—”
Suddenly, the sound of a gun being cocked reverberated through my ear. Except it wasn’t at me; it was at the assailant instead.
“I’m going to need you to stop bothering this young woman,” he said.
I couldn’t see who he was because it was so dark, but there was something arousing and nice about him. He was attractive, and I could feel his large, muscular body protecting me.
The guy looked at the gun and then at me.
“Is this one of your friends? Because if so, I’m getting the fuck out of here!” he shouted.
He raced off, leaving me alone with the guy nearby. I had no idea who he was. It freaked me out to say the least. For a long time, I didn’t say anything. Then, he spoke.
“Are you all right? Are you safe?” he asked.
I didn’t know. I knew getting involved with this man would be a bad thing. My parents told me I should only go for good guys.
And yet, he seemed better than all those “good” guys they talked about.
“I-I guess,” I said.
“I’m going to leave you alone. I hope that’s okay,” he said into my ear.
“Y-yeah. That’s fine,” I replied.
He left and I wanted to know more. He revved his engine, and as he drove off, I looked down at the ground.
It was the same sound as the motorcycle that had been revving at me before. I felt scared but also very interested in this mysterious person.
He didn’t show me what he looked like. Well, not like he had to do that. I was completely smitten and I knew it. I ran as fast as I could home, not taking a look back.
If I had, the dream might’ve been just that—a dream.
But I know what I saw out there. A had saved me, an attractive one at that, and I wanted to learn more about him.
But that would happen another night. I got back to my parent’s place, closing the door and locking it.
“What the hell are you doing out so late, Annette?” my dad asked.
“Sorry, Dad. I almost got attacked heading home. But I was saved by someone. And I rushed off before he could stick around. I’m sorry. I’ll try to get home from work a bit earlier,” I promised.
He nodded.
“Please be safe out there, Annette. There are biker gangs out there, and they love your type. You should be carrying a knife, or at least mace or something on you. Oh, I’ll get you some,” Dad offered.
He was a worrywart. Mom was unable to work, so he was providing for us. It was stressful, so I helped by taking over the business every now and then. But after we spoke, I went to my room, feeling both confused and yet interested.
I was terribly interested in him, but I knew it would scare my parents. My dad was already an anxious mess due to my mom’s sickness. But there was something about that mysterious savior, the man who helped me, that kept gripping my attention, holding it there and keeping it in place.
I knew that going down that road would be a bad thing. I knew I was in danger. But when that motorcycle rider saved me, there was something there. He was a cutie, but should I really get involved with a guy like that? What would my parents think?
Chapter 2
Lloyd
I didn’t expect to some random stranger tonight. But the girl was pretty cute.
I rode on back to the MC where the guys were, each sitting around and drinking a beer. I said my hellos and sat down.
“Yo, Skull what did you have to do out there? You suddenly took off as soon as that girl walked by. Do you know her?” Benny, my right-hand, man asked.
“No, but she was in our territory. Women don’t normally do that, unless they’re lost. For a moment I thought she was here for another reason, so I had to make sure she wasn’t going to do anything,” I explained to him.
“That’s true. You’re a fearless leader there, Skull,” Benny said.
“Right. Well, I’ll check around the area. You guys make sure nobody’s in our zone,” I instructed.
I sat there, drinking my beer, wondering what that girl was doing there. She was deliciously thick with big, meaty thighs and hips to die for. I licked my lips just thinking about her.
I wanted to see her again. But I doubted I would. After all, it’s not every day that those types come around these parts.
I sighed, continuing to finish my beer before setting it down. I needed to get her out of my head.
I looked around my turf: I ran the local MC. The place was pretty busy, and a lot of the guys were walking around making sure the area was secure.
I was their fearless leader. But I honestly didn’t really feel like it. The truth was, finding that gir
l was a happenstance occurrence. I was just getting ready to head on back to my place when I saw her walking around. I saw her run when I revved my bike, which scared her.
I felt a bit bad about that. I mean, the last thing I wanted to do was worry her. But I was quite curious about this chick. She didn’t seem to fit in with the usual types.
I wondered if I would ever see her again. I doubted it.
Those girls were too good; but there was something about her. Maybe it was my own desire to be good. My own desire to do good things with the life I was given.
I felt a hand on my shoulder to find Benny looking at me.
“Yo, dude, whoever was bothering that girl, it seems like they wanted to make a statement to us. I thought it was just a random hobo, but I guess not,” he mused.
“Right. Well, could you guys take care of it,” I said.
“Us? But why, Skull?” he said.
“I don’t want to go back over there for a minute,” I said.
He looked at me as if I were crazy, but then let it go. There was no sense in talking to me when I had my mind made up. He rushed off, leaving me alone once again.
As I stood there, I felt like there were a bunch of questions, but not enough answers. Who was she?
Why couldn’t I get her off my damn mind?
I told the guys we’d go riding another night. They were disappointed, but I said that I wasn’t feeling it. Which was the truth.
I wanted to go out riding on my own.
I started to ride around that area where she was, though far enough away that the other guys wouldn’t see me. I went through the residential area, my motorcycle quietly revving.
I wondered if she lived in one of these houses. It seemed quite an interesting idea, that’s for sure. But I couldn’t find anything. There were no leads or any signs of her presence. I guess it was time to head on back.
I rode back to my apartment, but when I got there, I couldn’t help but wonder if she was okay. I wanted to make sure that she was safe. There was something about her that had me worried. I didn’t even know why. Maybe it was the good in me.
In the past, I never thought about other people. It was always me, myself, and I. And yet, there was this strange presence the girl had, something that kept pulling me in, like a magnet, toward her.
Being a good guy turned bad boy biker is an experience. I was just riding my bike when I ran into her. But I had to admit that I was floored. Should I let her into my life? Was this curvy beauty ready for a motorcycle rider like me?
I didn’t know and yet, there was a part of me that wanted to get to know her, but I didn’t know how.
Chapter 3
Annette
After that night, I didn’t see the mysterious rider anywhere around. I thought I had imagined him.
I got home and immediately my parents were worried sick. They dropped it eventually, but my dad insisted that I call him whenever I was on my way back, so I got home at a reasonable hour. If I had to stay late, he wanted to know.
There was a part of me that wanted to know who that rider was. I didn’t understand. He seemed like bad news. And yet, that didn’t stop me from taking that same way home almost every night after that time.
I never saw him, which made me wonder if I had imagined him, or if there was something else there. something was happening, but I wasn’t sure what.
One night, when I was taking the trash to the curb, I heard a rustle. I turned, but there was nothing there.
“That’s weird,” I said to myself.
It couldn’t be my imagination, could it? I started moving closer to the bushes, feeling a bit apprehensive. I leaned down, but there was nothing there.
“What the—”
“Give me the money and I’ll let you live,” a voice said.
I turned. A guy stood there, with a knife to my throat. He didn’t look like the same man from earlier, but I immediately froze in place.
“W-what are you doing? Get away from me,” I stammered.
“Go inside, get all of the money from the register and give it to me. Now, and you will live,” the man demanded.
I looked around, trying to find something. But then, I heard the sound of a click. I looked to my left. It was that gun again. The one that I saw the first time I was attacked. But this time, I saw the man holding it.
He was incredibly attractive. Muscular, blonde hair, baby blue eyes. He was so dreamy. But he held a gun in his hands, which was both terrifying and quite interesting. I simply looked at the gun then at the guy.
“You again! You keep getting in our way,” he accused.
“Oh, so you’re the one with the friend who was harassing her the last time. Move along,” he commanded.
The guy hesitated and then looked at me. I could see the fear in his eyes. He knew that if he stayed there, it would end badly for him.
“I’m not fucking with this scene, Deuces,” he said.
“Stay away. Tell your little friends to fuck off too. If I catch another one of you guys bothering her, I’ll make sure to pull the trigger, and make sure my boys are nearby,” he said.
I looked at him then at the guy. The boys? Was this dude part of a gang?
Was I really getting into this shit? I think so. But, when I looked at him again, he sighed. He put his gun back, looking at me with slight concern.
“That should scare him off for a bit,” he said.
“Right, thanks,” I told him.
“No problem. I’ll see you around. Actually, I won’t. You don’t want to get involved with me,” he insisted.
He was about to leave. I shouldn’t have said a damn thing. It was a mistake. But the words came out of my mouth involuntarily.
“Your name?” I asked.
He turned around, cocking his head to the side.
“What do you mean?” he responded.
“I asked for your name, duh,” I explained.
“Oh, Lloyd, not that it matters,” he said.
“It does matter. I mean…you came back. You’re over here protecting me like my guardian angel and stuff. Least you could do is give me a name,” I said to him.
Lloyd looked at me with confusion. I think this was the first time anyone had ever asked him for his name like this.
“You really want to get involved with me, don’t you?” he asked.
“Yes. I don’t understand why, but I wondered about you after that night. The time when…you saved me from harm. I know pursuing you is stupid, but I can’t stop it,” I said to him.
What was I thinking? Did I really want to get involved with a bad ass like this? Lloyd looked at me, smiling.
“Well, princess, I could at least have your name if that’s okay with you,” he purred.
“My…name. Oh, Annette,” I said to him.
Why didn’t I use a fake name? He looked at me, smiling warmly.
“Well, Annette, I’ll make sure you’re kept safe and sound. Just don’t tell your folks about this,” he asserted.
I wasn’t planning on doing so. I smiled at him, nodding.
“Will do,” I replied.
He left on his bike, but before he revved away, he looked at me with a questioning glance.
“By the way, you wouldn’t happen to be free this Friday, would you?” he asked.
Free? This Friday? No way.
“Yeah, I am. Why?”
“I was wondering if you…wanted to go for a ride. That’s all,” he said nonchalantly.
I took it as a sign that he liked me. I immediately nodded, offering a big grin.
“I’d love that. If you’re cool with it and all,” I said.
“I was the one asking you, so of course. Now stop getting into trouble, you hear. Don’t take that way home. Call your parents. They’re bad news. I run the group there, but we’ve had some outsiders run into our territory recently. I can only protect you so much,” he admonished.
“Right, thanks,” I said.
“Good. See ya,” he said.
/> He rode away, and I realized that my heart was beating faster than when I was being attacked by that mysterious assailant.
Was getting involved with a bad guy like the biker such a good idea? I went back inside, finishing my duties, then headed to my car. I drove home after that. My dad was insistent on me not walking home after the last time. When I got inside, I saw Dad there, looking at me with concern.
“everything okay?” he asked.
“Yeah, why?”
“Oh, I just noticed that you’re smiling. You normally don’t smile all that much,” he said.
I scoffed.
“I smile every now and then, Dad,” I threw at him.
“Right. Well, I was just wondering how things were, that’s all. You seem happy,” he said.
I mean, I wasn’t going to tell my dad some bad boy motorcycle rider was taking me out on a date. But I did have reason to smile.
“Oh, I just am happy, Dad. Life’s going better. I’m thinking about possibly working more hours at the store. That’s all,” I lied.
He looked at me with concern but then nodded his assent.
“Fair enough. You’re an adult. It isn’t my business to find out what you’re up to all the time,” he added.
It really wasn’t, but I was happy that he realized this. I went up to my room, thinking about Lloyd, the mysterious man, wondering what he was up to.
He may be a bad boy, but I knew deep down that he had a heart of gold, and he certainly had me tantalized.
Chapter 4
Lloyd
After parting ways with Annette, I went back to check in with the guys, but they said the area was surprisingly quiet.
I guess I had talked some sense into those guys. Which was good. I was not really a violent person. I just had to deal with a lot of shit. It was quite a bit to deal with, and I hated that I had to do all alone at times.
Sometimes, I wished I could talk to someone about this. Not many were open with me since I had chosen to ride a bike. I missed having that kind of closure and I was excited for my date with Annette.
When Friday rolled around, I went to the store. She was there, finishing up. It was relatively early, and when she was done, she came out, smiling at me.
