“I don’t know what the fuck is going on but we’re not waiting to find out. They’ve got two minutes to show before we take off towards Yacht Cove. Everyone pay fucking attention to your phone. Get ready to ride assholes,” Axle demanded. We all sat straddling our sleds while the clock ticked down. My adrenaline was running at is max waiting to see if Wall would show or if we would be riding in blind. We knew they were somewhere in Yacht Cove but nothing other than that.

At first it seemed we were on our own as everyone followed Axle as we merged back onto the road. By the time we were pulling up to the stop sign at the end of the onramp Wall had pulled in front of Axle to lead the pack. We rode hard for the next fifteen minutes before following our enforcer to a busy parking lot of one of many boat ramps. I figured we were just stopping to get a plan together, but it seemed he already had one of his own. Wall back his hog in a vacant spot towards the back of the parking lot killing the engine and ripping off his helmet. The rest of us scrambled to get our bikes parked while Wall did something on his phone before taking off his cut to lock away in the saddle bags.

Ghost and Blaze didn’t have time to shut their bikes down before Wall was barking orders. “I’ve got the address which is a couple blocks up on the lake. I had to stop to check my phone when Yasmin text me after I called you, Tank. No details except we needed to move. Said things were get heated and Charlie was planning on taking Bree somewhere when Carmen returned. For all I know they’ve already left. I wasn’t going to race up there on the bikes and spook his ass when he heard the pipes. That fucker isn’t getting away from me again.” Wall was already jogging off towards the busy street.

“You tell Tony where we were headed? You know he wants us to stick to the plan he has in place. We don’t know what the fucking situation is with the Kovaleski’s. I now you want revenge, asshole, but we gotta do this the smart way,” Happy asked as we chased after Wall.

“Negative; figured we access the situation first.” It was all he said after taking us up two blocks to cut through a local park and checked his phone again. “There,” he said point to the row of high end condos that sat right on the lake. “Look, there’s that beat down Lincoln in the driveway. Stupid fucks didn’t even ditch the car.”

“How you want to handle this shit, Tank? Your woman, your call,” Axle asked turning everyone’s attention to me.

I peeked over and scanned the layout quickly. Didn’t have a whole lot of time to plan shit. At least the condo was in between two others leaving the only exits at the front and the back. “Way I see it, we split up. Half around back, half through the front. Make sure we leave at least one guy outside to make sure the stupid fuckers don’t try climbing out the windows to save their sorry asses.”

“Tank, you take point in the back with Throttle, Blaze, Ghost and Hawk. I’ll take the front with Axle, Zeus, Happy and Viking. Old heads you’re on guard duty outside. Let’s do this shit,” Wall said starting to turn to leave when Axle snatched him back by his arm before screaming at him. “How the fuck we planning on getting in there? You just gonna ring the doorbell?

“Nah, that would be too civilized. I plan on kicking the fucking door in and beating the fuck out of that prick. I think you all can handle the rest. No let’s get fucking moving,” he grounded out before turning to move towards the front of the house.

Fear was weighing heavy in the back of my mind. The rage however was quickly squashing it back as far as it could go. I wanted to knock Wall on his ass for trying to boss everyone around, but there wasn’t enough time for that shit. Bree had been gone for too long as it was. I let Wall be the distraction and swoop in from behind when they weren’t looking. The group split and moved into their positions around the house. Ghost moved to stand on the dock a bit to have eyes on the entire back of the house while the rest of us creeped up the steps.

All the curtains were drawn blocking any chance of catching a peek of the situation inside. I crept up the steps quiet as a ninja before finally kneeling by the door. Turning the knob, I couldn’t believe my luck as it turned opening the door slightly. At least I wouldn’t have to worry bout kicking the backdoor in. I’d wait for Wall to cause his distraction at the front of the house before creeping in the back.

I could hear a man and a woman shouting at each other from somewhere inside. The woman was giving him hell for hitting someone saying he promised not to hurt her until she got what she needed. A few seconds of complete silence hung in the air before the loud crack of someone slapping that shit out of somebody rang out. “You need to learn you place, bitch. This is my show to run not yours. You want your daughter alive long enough to get your fucking money you best calm that fucking mouth of yours. Talk to me like that again and I’ll put a bullet in both your heads right here and now. There’s plenty of other bitches around that club I can snatch to get my fucking money. I ain’t got fucking loyalties to anybody least of all you, ya dirty bitch.”

The rage was overtaking my sense of mind. That bastard had to be Carmen and the bitch he just struck had to be my girls piece of shit mother. That dickhead even thinking he would have a chance to take my woman from this world was enough for me to let myself in to introduce myself. To hell with waiting to sneak in after Wall bust through. I’m shocked his ass hasn’t kicked the door in yet.

Pulling my nine, I stood to my full height and through the door open. Without waiting to see if the fucker would try to get a shot off I walked through the door with Throttle on my heels. We definitely had the look of surprise going for us. There were two men looking like they were going to shit themselves, a brunette in a ball on the floor leaving Yasmin and Jewels trying to scramble off the arms of the chair where Bree was slumped unconscious. Her hair was matted and the side of her face was swollen starting to bruise. My first instinct should have been to go to her but the rage inside me wouldn’t let me.

Fuck the shooting the bastards. I intend to dish out a world of pain until every single one of these mother fuckers begged for death. Not knowing exactly which one was, Carmen, I went with my gut tackling the douche closet to the bitch curled up on the floor. I started throwing blow after blow; face, body, face, face, body, body. Loosing myself to the rhythm I let it all out. When Hawk and Zeus pulled me off of the asshole it felt like I’d been wailing on him for hours, but it had been mere minutes.

It took a few seconds before the ringing in my ears to quiet to let the rage in me calm enough to make out what was on around me. Wall was being pulled from the other guy by Axle and Blaze, Viking had both Yasmin and Jewels huddle on the couch at gun point, Happy was knelt in front of Bree trying to wake her with his phone to his ear and Ghost had the woman from the floor by the throat against the wall.

I shook off Hawk and Zeus to go to my woman. Bree was still out cold, making my guilt for not making her my first priority when I busted into the room eat away at me. As I moved closer to her, Happy stood and backed away letting me look her over while he still spoke on is phone. It seems Happy was tasked with calling 911. He was giving details on Bree’s condition avoiding giving details as to how we found her this way. My angel was banged up something good. Someone had struck her a few times to the right side of her face. Her cheek was swollen and starting to bruise along with dried blood on her neck. I could feel the rage trying to creep back in as I looked her over. I could see scrapes and bruises on her forearms and wrists. Bree was leaned back in the chair unmoving except for the rise and fall of her chest.

The commotion behind me pulled me from looking my angel over and focusing on the situation exploding behind me. “Get the fuck out of my way, Hawk! I’m gonna set his fucking ass on fire and watch him burn just like he planned to do with my goddamn sisters,” Blaze roared!

“Not now you hard headed fucker. Follow the damn plan and every one of these mother fuckers will get what’s coming to them. We voted and promised Tony to do these the legal way! No fall back on us or him remember! They’ll get what’s coming to them, we’ll make sure of it,” Hawk
was trying to reason with Blaze when I heard the first sounds of sirens in the back ground.

Axle let go of a calmer Wall to grab Blaze by the shirt bringing him nose to nose with him before he spit orders out. “He’s right, brother. Reign your shit in. We’ve gotta get Bree checked out and deal with the cops. They’ll be here any minute! When the bus gets here to take Bree to the hospital you go with Tank. I can’t have you here exploding and fucking the plan up. Now take your ass outside and wait for the damn medics.”

The next forty minutes went by at a snail’s pace. At first the fucking cops didn’t want to let me or Blaze go with Bree. It wasn’t until the state boys got there that we were cut loose just in time for me to climb in the back of the ambulance with my girl. With me in the ambulance Blaze took off to get his bike to follow. I held Bree’s hand as she lay unconscious on the gurney as the ambulance hauled ass to the nearest emergency room. My focus was completely on my girl’s battered face while the paramedic worked on getting her vitals and an IV started. Except for the sounds of the sirens the ten-minute ride to the hospital was done in silence.

When the doors to the ambulance were opened everything went in slow motion it seemed. I could hear the paramedic giving the ER nurses a run down of Bree’s condition. Words like possible hemorrhage and severe contusion were passed back and forth while I kept a hold on Bree’s hand. I felt her body jolt before it registered that something was wrong with my girl. I looked down to see Bree’s body flopping like a fish out of water. Before I could question what was happening a nurse was by her side jabbing a needle in her arm. Seconds later Bree stilled and the team of nurses and paramedics where on the move again. I held onto Bree’s hand as long as I could until a small nurse pushed on my chest to stop me from going through the door with them.

“Sir, you have to stay out here. The waiting rom is through the door there,” the small blonde said as she pointed behind me. When I went to protest she pushed harder yelling, “your no good to her back here. We need the room to assess the situation. I’ll be out to give you and update as soon as I can. Now go find somewhere to get comfortable and let us do our job.” Then she was gone leaving me alone in the middle of the hallway.

Not sure how long I was standing in the hallway with my head down trying to focus on the reality of what was happening. I was lost to my thoughts when I felt a gentle touch land on my shoulder. Raising my head, I found a sincere set of hazel eyes looking back at me. An older dark skin woman dressed in white lab coat looked me in the eye offering a small smile. “Honey, I don’t know what’s going on with your loved one, but I want you to know that she’s in good hands. How bout I show you where the waiting room is, that way Darcy will be able to find you when she comes out to give you an update.”

I said nothing, just nodded, to the nice woman as I let her guide me through a set of double doors that led to a massive waiting room. She walked me to the far corner of the room away from the few people that were already seated closer to the doors. “Have a seat back here, honey child. I’ve got to do my rounds getting vitals, but I’ll make sure to find Darcy and let her know where I left you out here. I’ll keep you and your girl in my prayers. Now do you need anything before I leave you? I can grab you some coffee or water if ya want, handsome?”

“No thank-you. I appreciate our kindness, though. My family should be here soon enough,” I told the sweet woman without looking her in the eye. She said nothing else only squeezing my shoulder softly showing support before leaving me to myself. I sat alone until Blaze came through the doors. He must have sensed I wasn’t ready to talk or maybe he was still trying to reign himself in. Either way we both sat quietly and waited. I sat back and zoned everything out focusing on the doors that lead back to the emergency room. We sat for what seemed like hours before I heard them busting through the hospital entrance stopping at the reception desk asking for details on Bree.

“Don’t you tell me to calm down. My daughter is somewhere in this goddamn hospital and I want to know where she is,” Queenie was screaming at the poor woman at the desk. As much as it warmed my heart that Queenie dove at the chance to claim Bree as her own my patience wouldn’t tolerate all the tension and drama Queenie was bringing in with her. I had to nip it in the butt or it would escalate quickly. Especially now that I see the herd of females at her back ready to pounce on the poor women they felt was withholding information from them.

“Queenie, chill the fuck out or I’ll make sure one of the fellas escorts your ass back home.” My words had several heads turning in my direction. I waited for a comeback from Queenie but instead she walked straight to me wrapping her arms around my stomach and buried her head in my chest while she let the tears flow. I held her to me whispering, “she’s going to be okay. Everything will be fine,” over and over in her ear.

When she seemed to calm some, I took the opportunity to move her to the side of the waiting room were Blaze was still seated. I sat next to Queenie, keeping my arms around her while the rest of the woman claimed seats around us. It looked like Boomer escorted the females here on his own. “Where’s Doc and Aaron,” I asked?

“Dad stayed behind to keep and eye on Diesel. That poor dog is in rough shape, but dad said he should pull through. He said he was sure Bree would rather him stay there to watch over our four-legged hero than sit in a waiting room here. We’re supposed to call as soon as we know something. If we need him he’ll be here.” Avery seemed to be holding it together better than most of the women. It was her job to set the example for the rest of the women in the club. As the president’s oldlady she was expected to keep her shit together. With her staying calm the rest of the women would follow suit.

“Yeah, she’d want him there with the horse dog. I’ll never complain about that damn dog again. We get through this bullshit I’m gonna make sure I find him a girlfriend. Not only does Diesel deserve it but hopefully they’ll be able to make a herd of dogs to roam around the houses and the clubhouse. I don’t give a fuck how much it cost to feed their asses,” I was saying before I stopped to look at the door that separated the waiting room from the exam rooms in the back opened. The small blonde nurse that stopped me from following my Angel earlier walked out looking exhausted. I froze, scared that if I made eye contact with her I would be delivered news I didn’t want to hear. I wouldn’t be able to take news other than Bree being ok. I watched as she scanned the room full of faces looking for my own. When her eyes landed on me I saw a moment of hesitation making the hair on my neck to stand on end. I didn’t realize I was holding my breath until she gave me a big smile as she walked to our corner of the room. I let out a long exhale waiting for her to make her way to us.

“Hi there. I wasn’t able to introduce myself earlier. My name is Darcy, I’m one of the several ER nurses that worked with Bree today. The doctor will be out shortly to go over everything with you in detail. I promised I would find you as soon as I could with an update and I never go back on a promise. Bree, is doing much better now. She is still unconscious at this point and will be out of it for a while. Just know that we are all hopeful she will make a full recovery. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to head out. My shift should have ended a few hours ago but I couldn’t leave until I knew your girl was out of the woods. My next shift starts in elven hours and I’m sure she’ll be in her own room by then, but I’ll make a point of checking on her when I get back,” Darcy says moving to leave.

With one arm still around Queenie I reach out with my free arm to grab Darcy’s hand to stop her. “Thank you. My family and I will forever be in your debt for staying with her today.”

“I was just doing my job. I’ll be to see you all when I get back in at 6 tomorrow morning. The doctor should be out within the hour to go over everything. Make sure you all get some rest. She’s going to need you at your best when she wakes. Good night everyone!”

They’re were several good night’s and thank you’s to be heard as Darcy made her way through the lobby and out the door to the stree
t. I looked at the clock to see we it was pushing seven p.m. and wondered how the rest of the guys were making out cleaning up the mess at Carmen’s. I was hoping Tony’s idea worked the way we wanted it to. The not knowing how deep the ties to the Kovaleski’s ran was the only reason we planned on turning the assholes over to the authorities. Tony assured me that pushing the angle of Charlie and Carmen kidnapping Bree to steel her inheritance in order to rip off the Kovaleski’s was he best course of action. The detectives he knew that were on the take would make sure news traveled quickly. Leaving our problem eradicated without any of us having to get out hands dirty. Once all the ones involved in her kidnapping were locked up favors would be called in and hits would be placed on their heads. The Kovaleski’s reach was far wider than the club’s leaving all the assholes involved with numbered days.

Right at eight the doctor came out to speak with us. He explained that they would be monitoring Bree closely. She received a nasty blow to the back of her head which required a few stitches to close. They were worried at first that she would suffer from swelling on the brain or even a hematoma. After a few different scans they saw no signs of either. He explained that while she was stable now that it could change quickly. Bree had already suffered one seizure when she was first brought in and would be susceptible to more. She was considered high risk for repeat seizures, meaning they would be monitoring her closely for the next forty-eight hours. The doctor would be keeping her sedated tonight and most of the day tomorrow to reduce her chances of another seizure lowering her chances of further injury. The staff was in the process of getting Bree moved to her own room. Once she was set up someone would be down to show us to the closest waiting room on her floor. Visiting hours were over but he promised that as long as we didn’t disturb the rest of the patients on the floor he would allow us to visit for a few minutes. I thanked the doctor for looking over my girl and shook his hand before he turned to leave.
