KILLER: An Unfit Hero Novel

He chuckles, then does it again before he goes back to rubbing circles against me. “More,” I softly demand on a moan.
He slaps me again, alternating between a few circles and a gentle tap of his fingers. It doesn’t take me long before my legs completely give out as I come on a long moan.
Louis’ grip tightens against my breast and his hand cups my center firmly so that I don’t fall to the floor in a heap. My entire body trembles, but I want more, so much more.
Louis guides me over toward his dresser, by way of carrying me with his hand still cradling my center. He literally picks me up by my pussy and sets me back down in front of his mirrored dresser.
“Hold on to the edge, baby,” he rasps as he releases me.
Lifting my gaze to my reflection, I can’t help but smile at the sight of me. Though my makeup and hair are more intense than I would normally ever wear it, my face is flushed beneath the mask and I look like I’m on my way to being well and truly fucked.
I. can’t. wait.
I’ve never done anything like this before. I’ve only ever had sex in a couple positions, missionary, doggy style, cowgirl, and lying on my side. And lying on my side was introduced by Louis.
Shifting my gaze to meet his reflection in the mirror, I watch as he strips out of his clothes and my fingers grip the edge of the dresser even harder. Licking my lips at the sight of his muscular chest behind me, I’m unable to keep the shiver from rolling up my spine.
I watch as he takes a step toward me once he’s completely undressed. His hands reach out and he tugs my hips back, tilting them and forcing my back to arch as my arms straighten.
“You’re so fucking beautiful, Tulip,” he rasps as his cock aligns with my center.
My breath hitches as he begins to sink inside of me, burying himself to the root in one steady slow motion. One of his hands stays gripping my hip, the other slips between my legs and touches me. I hiss at the feel of his finger against my sensitive clit.
“I want to see everything, Tulip. I want to watch your body sway as I slide inside of you from behind, over and over again,” he murmurs. “So fucking beautiful,” he repeats.
My lips part as he begins to thrust in and out of me. I can feel my breasts sway with each down stroke of his cock inside of me, but I can’t glance down at them, his gaze has my eyes held hostage.
He sinks his teeth into his bottom lip, his fingers gripping my thigh tightly. At the same time his other hand is between my legs, those fingers, they play me just as they did moments ago, bringing me toward a second release.
“Louis,” I breathe. It’s the only word that I can utter right now. The only conscious thought that I have.
He grunts, his hips moving faster, his fingers also following suit. Pushing my hips back, I meet each one of his powerful thrusts with a grunt. My fingers grip the edge of the dresser as my body climbs higher and higher toward my climax.
“Fuck,” he curses.
Shaking my head, my eyes find his again and when he pinches my clit, I come completely undone. Every single part of me from the inside out trembles. I open my mouth and cry out as I come.
“Yes,” he growls. “Fuck, yes,” he chants as he continues to pump in and out of me until he finally buries himself deep inside, his beautiful muscles flexing before he stills, filling me with his release.
Unable to take my gaze from his, I watch as his body does a full rolling shiver before he bends over and presses his forehead to the side of my neck and his sweat-soaked chest to my back.
“Best I’ve ever had,” he rasps against my skin as his lips touch me between each uttered word. “Nobody else but you, Tullie. You’re mine.”
I want his words to ring true, to stay that way forever, but I ,of all people, know that good things always come to an end. He will not want me forever. He’ll discover that he deserves better, smarter, more talented, prettier than the little girl from the Texas small town.
I’ll smile when he leaves me, when he discovers exactly what I’ve been telling him this entire time, that I can’t be with someone like him and he can’t be with someone like me. He’s so much bigger than me that he deserves someone his equal.
I’ll remember the things that he made me feel, desired and beautiful, worthy. I’ll remember every moment with him, because these moments will last me a lifetime. I will never end up with a man like him, so just to have him for this short time, it means absolutely everything to me—everything.
Chapter Ten
TULIP
I don’t know what I expected tonight, but Louis doing exactly as he promised was not it. Work is over, I did my dancing and not once did he cause a scene, or try to talk me out of going on stage. I’m not sure if I’m happy that he followed through with his word or disappointed.
Charlie watches me from the corner of the dressing room as I pull my oversized hoodie on over my skimpy dance outfit. Shifting my gaze to hers every so often, I wonder why she hasn’t said much to me today.
“Is everything okay?” I chance asking as I hitch my small bag over my shoulder.
She clears her throat, shrugging a shoulder as she packs her makeup and things inside of a small bag. “That guy, the one looking for you?”
“Yeah?” I ask when she doesn’t immediately continue.
“He wasn’t just some guy from town, was he?”
Pausing, I press my lips together as I avoid her gaze for a moment. Louis isn’t just some guy, he never will be. He is bigger than life, he is massive from the inside out. Lifting my gaze to meet hers, I release my lips, still unsure of how I want to approach this.
“He’s the one, right? Which means that he won’t want you doing this much longer. You’ll be leaving me,” she whispers.
My breath comes out in a whoosh when I realize that she wasn’t talking about him being a boxer, but more that she’s worried I’ll be quitting the club. To be honest, this was only supposed to be temporary anyway, but I can’t deny that meeting Charlie was probably one of the better things to happen to me in the past few months.
“I don’t know if he’s anything more than the one for right now,” I admit.
He could definitely be the one for me, but I’m fairly certain that I am not the one for him. He is going to go on to bigger and brighter things.
She presses her lips together, then shakes her head. “You’re in denial. It’s cute, but I doubt you’ll be working here by the end of the month. It’s okay really, you were never meant for the stage anyway.”
“Why do you say that?” I ask.
I’m no better or different from any of the girls in this place. I was born and raised in this town, just like Charlie. Came from the same kind of parental background and like her, I’m just trying to get a little ahead in this life.
Charlie takes a few steps toward me and reaches for my hands. Once my hands are placed in hers, she squeezes them with her eyes focused on mine. “You were not meant for this place. You’re too sweet. Too soft and too damn nice.” She grins with a wink. “Go to your man, he’s probably waiting for you, isn’t he?”
“How did you know?” I breathe.
She shakes her head. “I didn’t, not really. But the way he looked when he came here yesterday, I knew without a doubt that he wouldn’t ever let you out of his sight again, not unless he didn’t have a choice.”
“Charlie,” I whisper.
She dips her chin, her eyes lifting to meet my own. “I was meant for this, Tulip. I was raised in this life. You weren’t. Now, I want you to hold on to that big beautiful man for as long as physically possible. One of us deserves a good life and it’s going to be you,” she whispers.
“No, you do too and you’ll have it,” I say with a determined nod.
“Okay, hun,” she says to pacify me. I know that’s what she’s doing. “Now, go and be with him. Maybe he’ll give you some more of what he gave you before you came into work,” she says with a wink as her hands drop from mine.
My mouth falls open and I
stand there with my lips parted, just staring at her. She laughs as she shakes her head a couple of times.
“Go get you some of the good stuff, girl,” she calls out before she brushes past me with her bags in her hands and walks out of the dressing room.
Gathering my things, I follow behind her, only to run into someone in the middle of the dark club. Slowly, I lift my gaze to the man who is blocking me from leaving to see that it’s Joey standing in front of me.
“What are you doing here?” I ask between gritted teeth.
He tilts his head to the side, his eyes looking down into mine, but they aren’t focused, not on me or anything else. His gaze keeps bouncing around and it’s then that I know he’s on something.
Pressing my lips together, I try not to make any sudden moves. He’s not in his right mind. I’m the only person in here. I already know that the sad excuse for security is outside with the dancer that he’s screwing on the side.
“You changed your mind yet? You’re killin’ me here, Tulip,” he says in a rush.
Shaking my head, I try to take a step back, but his hands wrap around my biceps and he tugs me against him. He shakes me a couple of times, his eyes frantically moving all over the place, never settling anywhere.
“Joey, you need help,” I whisper.
He snorts. “I need you to let me back into my apartment,” he snaps.
“It’s not yours,” I murmur. “Go home to your mother’s. I know she’d be happy to have you.”
“You know Raylee means nothin’. It was just a little fun. You know that I love you, Tulip. You’re my girl.”
I wince at his declaration. It’s too many years late. I’m not his, never really was. Not now and never will be. Trying to wriggle from his grasp, he finally releases me with a small push and I stumble backward.
“Nobody will want you, Tulip. Once everyone in town finds out that you strip on the side, no man will want a whore like you,” he spits.
Straightening my spine, I narrow my eyes on him. “I don’t care. Even if I stay alone for the rest of my life, I will never regret not taking you back. I’m done, Joey. We’ve spent too many years together being unhappy. I want more for myself.”
“You won’t have dick here by the time I’m done with you. You’ll be singing a different fucking tune and I’m going to enjoy watching you crawl back to me and you will crawl, Tulip. Fuck, it’s going to be great watching you degrade yourself for another chance with me.”
He turns around before I can respond and I watch him slip out of the back of the club. Closing my eyes, I inhale a deep breath before I let it out as I attempt to compose myself.
“Hey baby, are you ready?” a smooth voice asks, causing me to practically jump out of my skin.
Turning around, I give Louis a shaky smile as he watches me with a look of concern from the front entry. Hitching my bag up on my shoulder a little higher, I shuffle in his direction, reaching out I wrap my hand around his waist as I press against his side and tip my head back to look up into his beautiful sea green gaze.
“I am, let’s go,” I breathe.
He doesn’t say anything, thankfully. Instead, he dips his chin and touches his lips to my forehead.
“Let’s get that glitter and shit off your body. You know how long it took me to get it off this morning in the shower?” he asks as he presses his hand to the small of my back and we walk toward his waiting truck.
Joey might be right. There may not be a man in this town that would ever want to keep me forever, but I think that I’ve done the right thing. I know that Louis will break my heart, but I still deserve this man for the moment.
LOUIS
Tulip’s annoying as fuck phone alarm sounds too goddamn early. I can’t believe that she works so late, then gets up so fucking early the next morning. Rolling over in bed, I wrap my arm around her before I tug her against my chest.
Her hand reaches out to turn the alarm off as she makes a groaning sound. “Morning, baby,” I murmur against her shoulder.
“Morning,” she sighs.
Sliding my hand up to cup her breast, I squeeze her gently. Without even prompting her, she shifts her hips, pushing them against my morning wood. I grunt. I was planning on giving her body a rest, but fuck, I don’t know if I can now.
I growl when her hand wraps around my wrist and she tugs it off of her tit, moving it down between her legs. “Louis, please,” she begs.
She never needs to beg with me, not fucking ever. As soon as my fingers come into contact with her pussy, I close my eyes at the wetness that I feel.
“Oh, Tullie,” I rasp.
Without a word, she boldly spreads her legs for me, hitching her knee over my thigh. Shifting my knee, I hold her thighs open for me and continue to play her clit. She’s so fucking wet that I know my cock would ease into her without an issue. But I want this to last and I know that I won’t.
Sliding two fingers inside of her, I cup her clit with my palm and grind it against her. “Oh,” she gasps as her hips buck against me.
Licking her shoulder, I can’t help but chuckle at her sweet reaction. It doesn’t take long for her to come that way and even less time for me to come once I’ve buried myself inside of her.
Sweat slicked and panting, I hold her against my chest, my thigh thrown over hers to keep her in bed against me. I know she probably wants to get up, clean up, then get ready for work, but I want her right here and if I could keep her here all fucking day long, I would.
“I need to get ready for work,” she whispers.
I almost laugh, because after only a few days I’m starting to get to know a little more about her personality and I love it. I’ve never been with a woman long enough to begin to learn her little quirks.
My relationships have consisted of one-night stands and short fake as shit flings with models and actresses trying to get a leg up in the industry. It’s been a hell of a long time since I’ve been with anyone that I truly care about.
An image flashes in my mind. I shake it away, not wanting to think about her. It’s been a long time since she’s crossed my mind and she has no place entering it in the first place. I don’t realize that Tulip has turned around in my arms until I feel her hands press against each of my cheeks.
“What are you thinking about?”
I think about telling her nothing, but then I realize that I’m withholding so much from her, holding back so much that I need to give her something. She’s given me Joey, told me about him and maybe it’s time that I tell her about my Joey.
“Meghan was the love of my life, or at least I thought so. I was twelve when I met her and nineteen when she left me. I never imagined I would live life without her by my side. I thought I loved her.”
“What happened to her?” she asks.
I don’t see jealousy in her gaze, just empathy. She understands me, knows what it is to fall in love with someone who doesn’t return the sentiment, but who you’ve spent the better part of your youth tangled up with.
“Graduation came and went. Meghan went off to college and I stayed in our hometown to train. I was working part-time at my gym, but I spent all day and all night down there. She partied and did the college thing. Never bothered me, I was happy for her. The college she went to was just about an hour away, so we saw each other pretty often and then one day…”
I pause just thinking about the day that she came to me. She showed up out of the blue on a Thursday. I was so surprised to see her, elated actually. I was prepping for a fight that Friday night and I thought she was coming into town early in preparation.
“She broke up with you,” Tullie guesses,
“She did,” I say with a nod, then clear my throat.
Tulip closes her eyes as if she’s in physical pain. “But she gave you a reason, and it wasn’t because she was partying in college.”
Shaking my head, I pinch my eyes closed for a moment and inhale a deep breath before I release it.
“All of her friends couldn’t
believe that she was dating a black guy. She told them that I was half, but they kept going on and on about how hard life would be if she stayed with me. I couldn’t believe that she was listening to some stupid ass kids our age. But it wasn’t just them. Her parents, people I’d known my whole life. They said the same. They had been urging her to break up with me since graduation saying that it was fine to have her fun, but now she needed to get serious about her future.”
“So, you were just fun?” Tulip whispers.
Nodding, I turn my head and touch my mouth to the inside of her palm. “A fun boy to date, but not a man that you marry. Because our future wouldn’t be easy, and they wanted her to have a happy life.”
Tulip sits up, her eyes narrowing and I swear to fuck if smoke could come out of her nostrils, it would.
“That’s bullshit,” she snaps. “Do any of them realize what century we’re in?”
Chuckling, I lift my hand and cup her cheek. “Not gonna be easy with me, Tullie. You have to know that,” I offer.
She shakes her head, her eyes filling with wetness. “I don’t want easy, Louis. I had easy and it was awful.”
“You had lazy, totally fuckin’ different.”
She lifts her hand, wrapping her fingers around my wrist and squeezes. “Her friends and family were assholes. But Meghan was a dumb fool. She was weak and pathetic. She had all that was you and she threw it away.”
Smiling, I sit up and lean forward, touching my lips to hers. “Not sure I was much of a prize back then, baby. But love the way you’re all fired up about a girl from about fifteen years ago.”
Tulip shakes her head. “You were a prize then and now. She was a fool, Louis. A complete fool and frankly, a bitch.”
Unable to keep from laughing, I throw back my head and let out a bark. Once I’ve composed myself, I shift my gaze back to hers and touch my lips to hers. “Fuck, but I like you a hell of a lot, Tullie.”
She melts toward me the minute my lips touch hers, then when my tongue slips inside of her mouth, she lets out a long moan. I don’t take things farther, instead, I break the kiss and urge her to get up while I slide out of bed myself and make us breakfast before I take her to work.
