He looked up at me. “Jai, you give me more strength, courage, and joy in a single glance than I have ever deserved or thought possible. I’ve sat here watching and waiting for this day for twelve long months.

“Dreaming of the day you would be mine again. I knew you would wake up. You have so much love and life left in you. I thank the heavens above for the day I found you. I have thought about what I would say to you when you woke up over and over. That day is finally here, and I cannot stand another moment without you. Jaime Grace Weaver, will you move in with me?” A wide smile lit up his face.

My eyes filled with water once again. My heart almost leapt out of my chest. “Yes! Of course, I’ll move in with you. I have loved you from the moment I laid eyes on you.”

He jumped up, and I stood beside him. He opened a small brown leather drawstring bag and pulled out a silver key that was attached to my long necklace with my post office key. I knelt my head for him to place the chain around my neck. Then our lips met once again.

My core heated up as my body molded to his. It was short-lived, though. The next thing I knew, everyone was running in the room and offering their congratulations.

I had a lot to be thankful for. I had lost a lot, that was true, but what I gained was far greater than I could have ever imagined.

I had only one request before we attended the harvest celebration. I needed to visit Jonathan’s grave.

Corbin and I went alone, stopping at a flower trailer on the way. I picked out a pot of orange mums that matched Jonathan’s old brown suit. It made me laugh to think about the day we met. I was terrified of him once I found out he was a ghost. Now, I missed him and his funny laugh. I placed the orange mums by his old and crumbling gravestone.

“Thank you for your help, Uncle Jonathan. You will always be in my heart.” I knelt beside his grave. He had told me once that he was only sent when trouble was brewing.

“I have a feeling we’ll see you again one-day, old friend. Until we meet again.” I kissed my fingers and touched the top of his gravestone.

Then we headed to the celebration and had a grand time being perfectly normal.
