That Bona Fide Hood Love Page 13

“Nah, I want you to choose the right time to address shit. You could’ve waited until we got in the fucking car. But nah, Rhea can’t act like she got sense. She gotta act like a fucking hood rat no matter where we at.” He shook his head again as he pulled up to my house.

  “Then don’t fuck with me.”

  “Cool. Get out.”

  “Kaseem, seriously?” I whimpered.

“Get out my damn car ’fore I end up putting my fucking hands on you.”

It took me a minute to figure out the Maserati door, but once I did, I climbed out. I shut it, and Kaseem wasted no time pulling off and leaving me there.

I didn’t care what he said; he and I weren’t broken up. And I would surely find out who the fuck Baby Girl was.

“Oh my gosh,” Jamal called out as I rode him. In no time, he let loose.

I didn’t get mine this time, but it was because my mind was elsewhere, and my pussy was in the mood for some dick from Kaseem, not his baby brother.

Although related, the two men definitely fucked differently. Jamal was more submissive in bed, allowing me to take control, whereas his brother was the opposite. Kaseem was also a guaranteed orgasm.

I fell to the side, pretending to be satisfied, and allowing Jamal to catch his breath.

“Do you care about me, Jamal?” I inquired, turning onto my side.

“Yeah, of course.” He turned his head only, to look at me since he was lying on his back.

I pecked him and flashed a closed mouth smile.

“So you’d tell me if Kaseem was seeing someone else?”

“Uh, yeah. If he was, I would say so.”

“So there is no one that he’s brought up or talked about to you? It’s okay to tell me. I won’t get upset.”

“You? Not get upset? Sure.” Jamal laughed, sitting up to grab his boxers from the floor.

“I won’t! I just want to know. Someone called his phone in the middle of our date, and he felt it was important enough to answer right then.” As I talked, I noticed Jamal freeze, almost like something I’d said had piqued his interest. That made me sit up and wait for him to say something.

“Did you see the name?” He peered over his shoulder at me.

“Not a real name. It just said Baby Girl. Do you have any idea who it could be? I mean anyone you’ve seen him even just… smile at or mention more than once?”

Standing up, Jamal slipped up his pants and smirked. “Look up an Everly Jones.”

  Jamal

It was a little after 9 p.m., and I’d just gotten home from work after a long day. I could barely focus because the conversation between Rhea and I had been heavy on my mind. I had a feeling that Baby Girl was my fiancée, Kasslyn. Even though I had virtually no proof that she and my brother were messing around, the feeling in my stomach was very strong. And if Kasslyn was sleeping with my brother or even dreaming of doing so, I planned to ruin her.

Stuffing what I’d need for the night into a duffel bag, I zipped it up and then quickly left the house to head to the back where the guesthouse was. Knocking, I waited impatiently for Kasslyn to answer the door. She took a whole three minutes, and when she did open the door, she had the nerve to be frowning.

“Hey, baby.” I smirked, slipping inside. She was in a nightshirt that was very short, showing off her nice, dark legs.

“Hey, Jamal. Is everything okay?” She shut the door behind me.

“Perfect. And since it’s Friday night, I thought I’d come spend the night with my soon to be wife.” I dropped my duffel and pulled her into me. I couldn’t ignore the fact that there was no trace of excitement in her face.

“Umm, tonight isn’t a good night. I’m putting together my portfolio for my design school submission.”

  “Let me help.”

Moving away from and around me, she replied, “It’s not really something you can help with.”

I followed her to the bedroom, where I saw she had a bunch of paper and stuff spread across the large bed.

“Alright. Well I can make us some dinner while you work. Then when it’s done, you can take a break and eat with me.”

  “Yeah, okay.”

I watched as Kasslyn climbed onto the bed, pushing her hair behind her ears. She paid me no mind as she got back to work, so I took myself to the kitchen to see what I could prepare. I decided on tuna casserole since that was pretty much the only thing I knew how to cook.

The whole time I prepared the meal, I was annoyed by Kasslyn’s cold demeanor. She used to be so excited and happy to be around me, but I guess that’s because she was getting paid to act that way. She’d better shape up fast, or she was gonna pay a hefty price for her behavior.

I finished the food in about an hour and fifteen, so I set up the table nicely before going to fetch Kasslyn. She tried to ask for a couple more minutes, but I cut that off.

“This looks good. Thank you.” She observed her plate of food.

“You’re welcome. When we’re married, there will be plenty meals like this all the time,” I half lied. Like I said, this was the only thing I could make, and I didn’t plan on learning any more recipes. Kasslyn would do all the cooking, cleaning, and childcare, just like my mother had.

  “Can’t wait.”

We ate in silence for a few before I said, “I love you a lot, Kasslyn, and because of that, I find myself tempted by you.”

“Oh.” Her brows dipped temporarily before she resumed stuffing her face. She was eating like it was her last supper.

“And to keep myself from sleeping with you, I’ve decided that you should no longer live here with my brother and me.”

“Where would I live? All of my stuff is here.”

“Yeah, but that can be easily moved. I found you an apartment about thirty minutes from here. You can move in, in the next week once everything is processed.” I picked her hand up to kiss the back of it. “Trust me, this is for the best. God is against premarital sex, so we need to take all precautions to be sure that we don’t engage in it. Don’t you agree?”

Kasslyn was silent, staring down into her plate. I shook her hand, prompting her to look up at me.

“Yeah, whatever we need to do. Even though I believe I’m strong enough to keep you at bay.”

“Yeah, it’s what we need to do. Finish your dinner.”

She did as she was told, and I polished off my dish as well. Once done, I took a shower and then went to her bedroom.

“Should you really be sleeping here when you just suggested we live far apart?” Kasslyn inquired when she saw me peel the covers back.

“I mean, we’re about to go to sleep. It’s fine.”

Really, I didn’t want to leave because I heard footsteps during the night inside of the main house, and I wanted to be sure Kaseem wasn’t leaving to come see her.

“Jamal, you said we need to do whatever it is. You should go sleep in your own bed.”

I paused, glaring down at her, but something sparkling on her neck grabbed my attention. I saw it was a necklace from Tiffany’s, and I knew I hadn’t given it to her.

“Where you get this?” I got onto the bed to touch it.

  “I bought it.”

“How much you pay for this?”

The way she looked up into my eyes, as I hovered over her, told me the truth; she hadn’t paid for anything, and someone had given it to her.

  “I don’t really remember, Jamal.”

“You bought a necklace from Tiffany’s, with diamonds in it, and don’t remember the cost? How much doggone money do you have to where you can drop that kind of cash and not remember?”

  “Jamal—”

“You ain’t buy it. So who did, Kass?”

“Nobody, Jamal. I bought it myself!”

I laughed, climbing off the bed.

“I told you if I found out you were sleeping around, I would ruin you.” I began dressing. “And I wasn’t joking.”

“I am not sleeping around! I bought this with the money I got fr
om your brother—”

  WHAM!

Before she could finish, I slapped the hell out of her, making her fall out of the bed and onto the floor.

“Why are you getting money from my brother!” I barked.

Kasslyn was still on the floor, holding her face as she stared at the carpet.

“When he paid me for the logo,” she whimpered lowly, reminding me. I felt slightly stupid, but I knew she got the jewelry from him, so I didn’t feel too bad.

  “Take it off.”

“No. You need to leave, Jamal.” She turned to look up at me with tears pooled in her eyes and blood in her nostrils. “Jamal, stop!” she screeched when I reached down and ripped the necklace from her. I let it drop once it was fully in my hands. “Why did you do that! I hate you!”

“You hate me? Me? That’s how I know another man gave you this! Bitch, you should be thanking me for changing your life!” I’d never in my life called a woman a bitch, but Kasslyn brought it out of me.

Watching her scoop up the necklace while crying, pissed me off.

“Just go home, Jamal, please.” She sobbed, getting back into the bed, still clutching the broken necklace. “Ah!” She gasped when I wrapped my hand around her neck.

“If you think you’re gonna be with whoever gave you this necklace, think again. You’re going to that new apartment, and in a few months, we will be married. You understand?”

She wouldn’t answer me, so to make her even madder, I undressed back down to my boxers and then climbed in the bed on the empty side. I used the sound of Kasslyn crying to help myself drift off to sleep.

  The next morning…

Kasslyn was still asleep when I woke up, so I quickly showered then brushed my teeth, before warming up the casserole for breakfast. I made her a plate and then brought it to the bedroom for her.

“Hey, baby, wake up.” I shook her gently until her eyes fluttered open. Per usual, she looked depressed as ever.

  “I’m not hungry.”

“You should be. Come on.” I made her sit up. She prayed over the plate then began eating like a mouse. “Kasslyn, I’m sorry for last night. I just saw the necklace, and then when you mentioned Kaseem, I assumed.” Kasslyn continued eating and didn’t say a word to me. “Be honest with me; is there anything happening between you and my brother? I love you, and you’re the only woman for me, so I need to know that I’m not in this alone.”

  “Who is Catharine?”

Her question made me swallow hard.

  “Kasslyn, answer my question—”

“I will when you answer mine.”

“I told you she was nobody and a girl my parents wanted me with. I barely know the woman.” I chuckled nervously.

“Well maybe you should let her know that because she pressed me at the store about you, saying our engagement was a fluke.” Kasslyn’s brow raised.

“She’s just jealous… I swear.” Kasslyn nodded so I added, “Can you answer my question now?”

“No one is sleeping with your brother, Jamal. Now can I please have some privacy?”

Satisfied, I rose up and left the guesthouse altogether. As soon as I stepped outside, I dialed up Catharine, checking over my shoulder in case Kasslyn had peeked out the front door.

  “Hey, honey—”

“Cat, why the hell did you approach my fiancée?”

“Because this isn’t fair! You don’t love her! You love me!”

“I do love her, and I’m going to marry her! I’ve already explained that you and I can’t be together. Now let it go!”

“Nope, I won’t. So you’d better protect your little fiancée because the only way you will marry her is if I’m buried six feet deep.”

  Click.

  Damnit!

  Kaseem

Last night, Kasslyn texted me to let me know my brother was over at the guesthouse with her since usually I came through there every night. I couldn’t even lie, that shit had me hot, and it shouldn’t have.

I had plenty of bitches waiting up to spend time with a nigga, but the only one I wanted to share my fucking night with was Kasslyn.

Now that it was morning and I was sure Jamal’s ass had gone to work, I’d woken up to get ready to go see my girl. She was mine at the end of the day because I was the nigga fucking her, feeding her, making sure she was straight, and lacing her in shit. And nah, a nigga wasn’t scared of Jamal in the slightest, but I didn’t want to have to beat his ass if we ran into one another at Kasslyn’s. I would feel like a muthafuckin bully, and I didn’t wanna hear my parents’ mouths either.

Once I was dressed, I grabbed my keys and wallet then headed out to the back. I planned to take Kasslyn out for breakfast.

I rang the doorbell, but after I got tired of waiting, I used my key to enter. I called her name a couple times but got no answer, so I went straight to her bedroom. Walking in, I spotted her cute ass seated at the vanity in her usual silk robe.

Walking up behind her, I hugged her shapely frame and inhaled the scent on her neck, noticing the necklace I’d gotten for her was nowhere to be found on it.

“Where yo— fuck happened to yo’ face?” I stared deeply into the mirror at her ass. She had all kinds of makeup spread across it.

“Nothing. It was an accident.” Kasslyn dropped her head to dig through one of the small makeup bags.

I swiftly spun her around to face me and squatted down so I could look up into her face.

  “Kass.”

“He saw it, and he got upset when he thought I admitted to you buying it for me.”

“Who the fuck is he?” I had an idea, but I knew damn well my brother didn’t bust her fucking nose like this. Not soft ass Jamal.

“Jamal.” She refused to make eye contact with me, so I forced her to.

Rising to my feet, I simply said, “Finish getting dressed. I’ll be back in a little bit.”

“Kaseem, it’s okay! We can get the necklace fixed, and I’m fine!” She got up.

Pausing in my tracks, I turned to face her ass before coming back to get in her space.

“Don’t ever let me hear you say it’s okay for a grown ass man to put his hands on you, understand?” I stared intently down into her eyes, wanting to slap her ass up myself for that comment. “And it’s especially not okay for a muthafucka to hit you when you mine.”

She wrapped her arms around my torso, staring up at me with that perfect ass chocolate face, which prompted me to kiss her pillow soft lips a few times.

“Hurry back.” She whispered against my mouth as we shared a couple more kisses.

Kasslyn low-key had me on one, and I didn’t know if I liked it. But for now, all I could think about was getting at my brother.

I left the guesthouse and hopped in my Range since it was already out of the garage. I drove straight to Opulence headquarters, where Jamal was by this point. After parking in my designated spot, I headed inside and went to the floor that he worked on along with a few other legal employees. Not bothering to knock, I barged right into his office.

“Kaseem, you—aye!” He hollered when I yoked his ass up by his collar and slammed him into the wall.

“Fuck you put yo’ hands on that girl for?” I spoke through clenched teeth, staring him dead in the fucking eyes.

  “It was a misunderstanding and—”

  WHAM!

As soon as I let him go, I sent my fist right into his fucking face. I felt blood gush from his nose and drench my hand, before his head bounced off the wall.

  WHAM!

I punched his muthafuckin ass again when he looked at me, making him run a little ways from me as if that would keep me from kicking his ass.

“For one, you know better than to be putting ya fucking hands on a female. And secondly, she ain’t the one you wanna use as yo’ fucking punching bag.” I followed him slowly around the room, knowing I could catch him if I wanted.

“I’m sorry. I said I was sorry.” His voice trembled as blood trickled fro
m his nose and mouth.

I wanted to rock his shit, but at the end of the day, Jamal was my kid brother, and I loved his stupid ass. No matter how angry I was, I couldn’t treat his ass the same way that I would a muthafucka on the street.

I swiftly got ahold to him, tightening my grip on his collar.

“Do anything else to her, including threatening her or putting ya fucking hands on her, and I swear to God I’ll murk yo’ ass.”

Jamal’s eyes bounced around mine, as a look of confusion took over his face.

“Why you care about her so much, Seem?”

“Use yo’ fucking head and figure it out.” I dropped him, leaving the office before he could say anything else to me.

Ignoring the fact that I had Jamal’s blood speckles on my shirt, I exited the building and then took my ass back to the crib so I could get my girl and take her to breakfast as intended.

  Two nights later…

Warren, punk ass Roderick, and I, were sitting down, smoking at Warren’s spot. We’d just done tonight’s pick-ups and shit, so per usual, we decided to kick it for a little bit.

Roderick’s ass was in a good ass mood because he’d made it on time. And thankfully, he wasn’t talking that dumb shit about moving up in ranks.

He really had no idea how this shit went, which was why I would never see him as my equal. He was always more of Warren’s homie than mine. Warren stayed finding stray muthafuckas to put on. I wasn’t tripping though, because a few more years of me stashing this bread, and I was gon’ be done with it. Warren could have my spot, and Roderick could have his like he wanted.

“You got that good pussy glow, nigga.” Warren inhaled on the blunt, chuckling along with me as he blew the smoke out.

  “I ain’t saying shit.”

  “Jamal know?”

“I think his ass does now.” I shrugged.

After I roughed my brother’s ass up in the Opulence building, we hadn’t really said shit to one another, and he hadn’t been to see Kasslyn; at least that’s what she told me. Eventually, he and I would have to sort this shit out like men, but for now, I was enjoying fucking Kasslyn and nothing else.
