Liam shook his head. “That’s not what you should be sorry for.”

“What?” Dread settled in the pit of her stomach. Maybe, everything he’d said on Tatum’s podcast was just for show.

“You should be sorry for not trusting me enough to let me help you. You know how I felt realizing you were in trouble, and you hadn’t come to me? I had to watch everything play out on the sidelines when I should have been there by your side.”

  “I’m sorry,” Irene whispered.

“I love you, Irene. Nothing will change that, but I need you to promise me you won’t ever do this again. If something terrible happens or you have a new enemy pop up, we will handle it together. I will not have my future wife and mother to my kids running around like Nancy Drew. What will the kids think?”

Irene’s eyes widened. “You see me as your future wife and mother of your kids?” Joy filled her soul at the thought of that future.

“Absolutely, but I’ve learned not to wait for you to decide. I plan on marrying you in the Fall and God willing, I’ll have you pregnant by the Summer.”

“And do I get a say in this?” Irene walked over to him and placed her hands on his cheeks. She looked down at him with all the love in her soul.

She loved this man. He’d shown her what good loving felt like, and she would never let him down again. Irene’s eyes filled with tears, she’d never believed her life would end up like this.

“You can say anything you want, but unless it’s yes, Liam or I can’t wait for that to happen, Liam, I probably won’t hear you.”

Irene leaned in close so she could whisper into his ear, “Yes, Liam. Yes to all of that.”

He reacted immediately to her words. Liam pulled her into his arms and took her mouth. Irene relaxed under his rough lips. She would give him everything he needed in return he would do the same.

That’s what real love felt like and for once, she wasn’t going to question her luck or look for problems. She was going to take his love and treasure it.

Liam Campbell was finally, truly hers and she would never let him forget it.

  A few months later…

Liam opened his eyes slowly and listened to the sounds of the ocean. A Fall wedding was perfect when you honeymooned in the Bahamas. They’d arrived a few days ago, and so far he’d only let Irene out of bed a few times for food.

At this point, they were both too exhausted for anything else but sleep. But if he kept this up, he would definitely have Irene pregnant by the Summer.

Irene was nestled close to his side with her head resting on his chest. He loved this time the most, the quiet before the storm. Somehow, their families had invited themselves on their honeymoon.

Cole and Tatum had rented out some of the other villas on the south end of the beach. Right now, everyone was giving them space, but he knew that wouldn’t last long.

Liam looked out into the amber sky and smiled. He was grateful for everything that was happening in his life. He finally had it all, and he would do whatever it took to protect and cherish it.

One night together was all it took for him to fall for Irene. He loved his woman and thanked God he hadn’t given up.

Liam hadn’t been looking for love, but it had found him nonetheless, and he would never let anything or anyone take it away. Irene Campbell was finally his and nothing would tear them apart again.
