We meet at a small diner in Manhattan that we’ve been wanting to try for months. We gush over each other’s outfits—we’re each wearing colorful dresses—for several minutes before we can even tell our waitress what we want to drink.
I can’t get over how incredible she looks. She doesn’t look like the head of a public relations committee; she looks like a model. She has been working out a lot lately, toning her body and watching her diet. She is still just as gorgeous as she ever was, with the curves and presentation to flaunt it. We complement each other well. I am a moderately tall brunette woman with brown eyes, and she is a short blonde woman with light green eyes.
Once our meals get to the table, we start dishing about work. I’m telling Lily about my new PR position at Tech Wreck and what all I’ve been doing for Aiden over the past week. She wants to know what it’s like working for a tech company.
I want to be cryptic with her and see if she can guess what the crazy stuff is that has been going on with me, but I don’t want to waste any time we have together to talk and catch up.
I bring up what happened the other night in the back of Aiden’s limo. After that, all questions about the inner workings of PR for a tech company go out the window. The whole rest of our lunch is devoted to me supplying every detail possible about my interactions with Aiden. She can’t get enough of the story.
By the time I’ve finished recapping everything I can to her, we’ve finished our meals and the waitress is getting our checks for us.
“That’s crazy,” Lily says after most is said and done.
“I have a feeling that it’s only going to get crazier from here,” I say.
“Do you think that what’s being said in the media about him is true at all?” Lily asks. “Sarah’s story seems a bit more compelling after you tell me what he’s just been up to with you!”
“I mean, who can know for absolute certainty? But I don’t believe that he sexually assaulted anyone. He says he’s innocent, and I believe him.”
“You believe him, or your moist loins believe him?” Lily jabs.
“Don’t you remember Sarah Blackburn from college?” I ask. “We had some classes with her. Short, really skinny, slept with nearly every professor on campus.”
“Oh,” Lily says with realization. “I think I remember her. She’s the one that stole Josh from me!”
Josh was a teacher’s assistant for one of our professors in our freshman year, and he was someone that Lily highly fancied.
“That’s who’s accusing this guy of all that shit?” Lily asks. “Oh, God. I bet you she’s doing all that shit on purpose to get back at him for something. She got Thornback fired! He taught for over thirty years.”
“Yeah, she’s got quite a rap sheet,” I say. “Whether it’s true or not, though, it’s almost irrelevant. I’ve been hired to do a job, and I’m going to do it well.”
“Kate, be careful with this boss of yours,” Lily warns. “His name is Aiden?”
“Aiden Marx,” I say dreamily.
“Yeah, listen,” she says. “Even if Aiden Marx is an okay guy, and even if he didn’t rape Sarah Blackburn, what he’s doing with you is really uncool. And if the rumors about him are true, you can’t get too carried away, babe.”
“I know,” I say into my hands, frustrated. “It feels different with him, though. I don’t get carried away around guys, really. With him, I lose all sense of control and willpower. I get drunk on him whenever I get a taste.”
“Kate—”
“But it was only a one-time thing with Aiden,” I attempt saying convincingly. “Besides, we were drunk and horny. I just won’t get myself in that sort of situation with him. It won’t happen again.”
“I wish I could believe that,” Lily says. “Something tells me you two will be seeing each other again outside of work real soon.”
Then, suddenly and impossibly, Aiden appears in the diner with Adam, walking right in through the front door looking just as handsome and inviting as ever.
“Get the fuck out of here,” I mutter, frozen in shock at what I am seeing.
Lily looks over toward Aiden and Adam. “Kate, those guys are cute, but there are easier ways to convey your interest without staring like a maniac.”
“What is he doing here at a diner?” I wonder aloud.
“Do you know one of those guys?” Lily asks.
Aiden and Adam are being escorted to a booth on the opposite end of the diner. He is scanning around the restaurant. I’m unsure if there is someone or something in particular he is looking for.
Then, just as he takes his seat, our eyes meet. Right at the moment we spot each other, I turn back into a nervous college freshman and look away from him.
“You won’t believe it.” I laugh. “The tall one with blue eyes, that’s Aiden.”
“Shut up,” says Lily, glancing over to Aiden’s booth as inconspicuously as possible. “Your Aiden? That’s him right there? The billionaire in our diner?”
“Apparently,” I say.
“Who’s the other guy with him?” she wonders.
“His best friend, Adam. We saw each other, and he saw me see him. I’m embarrassed and frustrated, among other things.”
Lily smirks. “Then, don’t look at who’s coming over to say hello.”
Sure enough, from the corner of my eye, I see Aiden approaching our table, and he is honing in on me.
“Am I about to meet your future husband?” Lily whispers humorously.
“Hey, Kate,” Aiden greets me.
“Hi!” I say, attempting to sound surprised. “Aiden, what on earth are you doing here?”
“I came to eat like everyone else,” he retorts. “They just sat us at our booth. Adam and I haven’t even had time to look over the menu.”
Aiden and Lily look at each other, smiling politely.
“Hi,” Aiden says.
“I’m Lily, Kate’s best friend,” she says, introducing herself.
“Lily and I went to school together,” I explain. “If I could hire my full PR team, I would definitely hire this girl immediately.”
“You couldn’t afford me, fool!” Lily quips to me before presenting to him. “I have a job that pays well, and I’m a pro at many things.”
“Pro of what kinds of things?” Aiden asks, humoring her.
“Come home with us tonight and find out,” Lily says with a wink. “Kate’ll be there, too. Hey, anything can happen, right?”
“Lily!” I exclaim in shock. “Aiden, I don’t know what’s gotten into her.”
“It’s okay,” he says, while motioning over to his table. “My best friend would probably do similar kinds of things to embarrass me.”
“Seriously, why are you here and not at some fancy restaurant, or in another country eating lobster?” I clumsily wonder.
“I like to keep a low profile during times like this,” he explains. “People expect me to go to the fancy restaurant and order lobster for all to see. They don’t expect to come to a small diner that’s less reasonably priced than some diners in the heart of the city. People that come to places like this keep to themselves mostly, so I don’t have as much of a chance of being spotted.”
I’m impressed with his line of reasoning, just like I’m entranced by the way his beautiful mouth moves when the words come out.
“Anyway,” Aiden concludes. “I saw you two over here and figured I’d stop over and say howdy. You ladies up to anything fun after this?”
“Yes, want to come along?” Lily asks.
“I would love to,” says Aiden. “Unfortunately, I already made plans with my amigo back there, and we can’t just blow it off. Perhaps we’ll have to do something fun together soon.”
“Yes, please.” Lily winks shamelessly.
“Lily,” I say in annoyance. “Why don’t you go over and meet Adam and talk to him? He’s really nice.”
“I’ll leave you two kids alone for a few minutes while I go and powder my nose in the ladies’ room,” Lil
y says as she takes her momentary leave.
“So, you still doing good?” Aiden asks me.
“I am. Where are you and Adam going after this?”
“We’re going to a game with a few buddies of ours,” he answers. “It’s weird, seeing you here like this.”
“Because it’s outside of the office?” I ask.
“That, and just, of all the diners in New York for me to choose, I chose the one that has Kate Harly in it. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say someone wants us together.”
“Who knows?” I ask. “Maybe you’re stalking me.”
“If I’m a stalker, I’d be a pretty fucking bad one, wouldn’t I?” he asks. “I just walked right up to your table and I’m standing here talking to you in front of everyone in the place. If I’m a stalker, I’m the worst one in the state.”
“So, what is it then? Fate?”
“It’s the universe trying to get us to copulate again,” says Aiden.
“Oh, really?” I laugh. “Do tell.”
“It’s simple, really. We’re amazing in bed together. Most people don’t have the kind of chemistry we have, even after getting to know each other. Why wouldn’t the universe want us to fornicate again? Sex is everything. It’s life.”
“You sound like a guy who hasn’t gotten laid in a while, but I know for a fact that you have,” I say quietly.
“How do you know that?” he asks, like he doesn’t know.
“I was riding on top of you in your limousine,” I say. “That’s how I know you’ve gotten laid.”
“That was a few days ago,” Aiden says. “I’ve been going through Kate withdrawals.”
“So, I’m like a drug, then? You shouldn’t do drugs.”
“I’ll do them when they’re as good as you.”
“Shouldn’t you be getting back to Adam?” I smile. “I’m sure he’s lonely over there.”
Just as I say that, Lily returns to the table.
Aiden nods and waves goodbye. “I have abandoned Adam for too long. I’ll see you on Monday, Kate. It was nice meeting you, Lily!”
After Aiden retreats back to his table to rejoin Adam, Lily practically comes bounding back to the table.
“I was watching you two over there for the last thirty seconds or so,” Lily says.
“I had a feeling you were back there.” I nod.
“You two were so totally flirting, it isn’t even funny,” she says. “The chaperone leaves and the kids immediately misbehave.”
“I was not flirting with him,” I mumble. “We were just having a good conversation. I can have a good conversation with my boss.”
“Not that kind of good, you can’t.” She laughs. “And yes, you were so flirting. You had your flirty face on.”
“My flirty face?” I ask, nearly choking.
“You know what I mean,” she says. “You had your flirty face on. You two were digging on each other so hard. You weren’t flirting. You were asking for sex.”
“I can’t help but to flirt with him, okay?” I confess. “He always flirts right back. If I don’t flirt first, he will get there fast. We can’t help it. We’re becoming addicted to each other, Lily. He’s like a drug to me.”
“Oh, for fuck’s sake.” Lily sighs. “I leave the table for three minutes, and everything descends into chaos.”
“I can’t get over how attracted I am to him,” I babble. “I did probably have my fucking flirty face on. I probably had it on to the tenth power.”
“Yeah, you did,” Lily confirms.
“I don’t know how I’m going to survive after this scandal if we don’t at least make some sort of arrangement. Maybe a fuck-buddy kind of thing. I don’t care at this point.”
“Okay, these are the words of a sick woman,” Lily says. “Listen, I’ll be straight with you. I could sense a connection between the two of you just by looking at y’all for no more than a minute.”
“Really?” I ask with glee in my voice.
“There’s no denying it,” she states. “What do you think you’re going to do?”
“What do you think I should do?” I ask her.
“I say go after the sexy billionaire and try and get that man to put a ring on it!”
I shush her frantically, hoping that neither Aiden nor Adam heard that. I don’t want to come across as shallow or a gold digger by any means.
“But you have a lot to think about,” Lily continues. “Especially considering the controversy surrounding him. You may want to maintain a distance from him.”
“I only want to be close to him,” I say, unafraid.
“So, you do know what you’re going to do?”
“No, I’m still not sure.”
“Fuck,” Lily says with a hearty laugh. “I’m just saying, being associated with him might reflect poorly on you if you choose to keep riding the line.”
I know that Lily is making some good points, but I choose to ignore them and listen to my instincts. Or perhaps it’s simply my sex drive whirring and driving me crazy every hour of every day.
When I finally return home that night, I want to work on mapping out some ideas on where to go next in terms of improving Aiden’s image to the media.
The problem is that I frequently drift away and focus solely on Aiden’s literal image. I think about his muscles and how mighty they looked when he was dominating me right in the heart of New York City.
Needless to say, I don’t get much work done that night. I don’t want to sleep alone, but I believe my loneliness will be gone soon. I pray for patience.

Aiden
I’m not looking forward to work that morning at all. I’ve never been one to talk down on Monday’s simply because of what they are.
Why I hate this Monday is because of what it represents to me personally during this stretch of time. I’m just getting off what feels like the longest weekend of my life. Hours of thought, hours of dull daydreams, hours of masturbation. All because of what Kate is doing to me.
So, when I get into work, I go straight for my office and the bottle of cinnamon whiskey I have in my freezer.
I remain unfocused and inattentive during all of my Monday morning meetings. Adam is diligent and makes important notes when needed for me.
I’m only thinking about one thing. I’m only looking forward to my afternoon meeting that I have scheduled with Kate. I keep telling myself that I have to keep my feelings to myself. I can’t get involved with my current PR manager while being embroiled in a scandal involving my most recent ex-PR manager. I have to resist her, no matter how irresistible she is, and no matter how amazingly she rode my cock.
I wish I can pinpoint a specific thing this girl says or does to drive me wild, but I think she and I are just naturally good sexual partners. We complement each other—a carnal yin and yang. I continue to replay that night of passion in my head.
I’m also thinking about the run-in I had with Kate on Saturday at the diner. I still can’t get over the shock of seeing her there like that. Adam and I have hundreds of diners to choose from, and we decide to go to one that neither of us were really invested in going to in the first place? It all makes sense why we chose that place once I saw her: destiny in the form of Kate Harly.
Destiny calls shortly after lunch, much to my happiness. Unfortunately though, Kate is running late and asks if we can push our meeting to either a later time or cancel and try another day. Seeing as I made sure to have my entire day clear after lunch for her, I can assure her that I will be free for her and I won’t mind waiting for her to get here. If only she knew just how long I’ve already been waiting for her.
Kate finally arrives at the office around four, running in as quickly as she can. She looks exhausted, but she still remains an elegant beauty far beyond my league. I don’t even need to hear her make up a reason or excuse for being late. I don’t care.
“Thank you so much for agreeing to see me so much later, Mr. Marx,” she says.
“You’re qui
te welcome, Ms. Harly,” I reply. “You got here just in time for most of the staff’s closing time. I can’t help but wonder if this is intentional.”
“I promise, I had absolutely no intention of wanting to be late for work,” she assures me. “I’m prompt. I’m not late. That’s why I’m pissed off.”
“There’s no reason to be pissed off,” I assure her. “You weren’t delaying me from anything. I want to be at the office today. I get the feeling that there are people outside my house now with cameras at the ready.”
“That’s the paparazzi waiting to catch you in your next tawdry act,” says Kate.
“It takes a lot of commitment to stand outside a major building in New York City with cameras,” I point out. “People could harass you. Cops could tell you to move. Around a neighborhood, people like to keep that stuff quiet. They’re interested in what’s got the cameras so excited.”
“You understand all this public and human relations stuff just like us PR types, don’t you?” she asks with approval. “I’m impressed. You’re actually intelligent.”
“One has to be a little intelligent when designing something that relies on circuits and wires to operate,” I reply with gusto.
“I suppose you’re right.” She relents. “Anyway, I’m really sorry for being so late. This looks really bad.”
“I promise, don’t be sorry,” I repeat. “I swear I’m not even the slightest bit angry. You couldn’t make me angry if you tried. Well, okay, maybe if you tried you could, but you know what I mean.”
“I was held up at the agency,” she says in between breaths. “They were holding me up like real sons of bitches. I’m not trying to make excuses now, I’m just explaining.”
“Kate,” I say calmly. “I understand. Things happen. It’s okay. I’m just happy that we were still able to meet today. I feared you were going to give up on coming in today.”
“Why wouldn’t I come in today?” she asks.
“You know why,” I say bluntly. “With everything going on with us.”
“We’re behaving professionally,” she says. “Let’s not get carried away with ourselves. I’m not going to start blowing off work just because of some sexual tension.”
