The fourth time her hand raised, Johnathan caught it mid air. There was no way in hell that she was going to continue to release her rage onto his face. If she wanted to hash some things out, he’d most definitely be down, but fighting wasn’t the answer to her pent up frustrations.
“KINZU!” Johnathan yelled. He bit the inside of his lip to contain the hostility that had quickly surfaced. “You must stop it!” He begged. KinZu tried to free herself, but he held her tightly. “Stop it!” Taking heed, she gave up the fight.
A horrid expression covered KinZu’s face as she tried to catch her breath. For years, she’d claimed to be over the hurt and pain that her first love had caused, but it was all a lie. She would forever be scorn by the hardships caused by his carelessness, and there wasn’t much she could do about it. Years of covering up the pain made her feel better, temporarily. However, she wanted to rid it forever!
Given, the two were young. Unfortunately, it did not excuse his neglectfulness and selfishness. For years, he’d been everything to KinZu, and she had thought the feelings were mutual. Life happened, and she recognized the fool that she’d been for Johnathan. The permanent damage that he’d caused was irreparable.
“Just…” she yelled, but stopped mid sentence to look into the eyes that once held her heart captive. As she stood with her hands forced behind her back, heaving chest, and a heavy heart, KinZu broke. “Just leave.” She succumbed to the massive break that she’d been avoiding.
With everything in her, she willed herself not to cry. Johnathan hadn’t deserved her love all of those years ago, so he sure as hell didn’t deserve her tears now. Lifting her left Prada pump up, she slammed it onto his right toe, causing him to yelp in pain and let her arms go. She then kneed him in the nuts with her right knee.
“Asshole!” she called him, slightly satisfied with the pained look on his handsome face. God was he a beautiful man.
“Urgh!” Johnathan released his grip and bent over, grabbing at his crotch area.
KinZu used this moment to rid herself of the heartbreaking fool that had come to capture her, again. She wasn’t going out like a sucker this time. Whimpering to his requests were no longer something that KinZu could do.
There was a time that she’d dreamt of him even saying two words to her, but those days were over. College was some odd years behind KinZu, and she had now adapted to a new mindset and mind frame. Neither of them consisted of entertaining fuck boys –free of charge.
KinZu dashed for the hallway, and bumped right into another co-worker, leaving. Turning on her charm, she immediately became professional. Her smile was believable as she passed up a few other departing staff members. The minute she saw her car, KinZu breathed a sigh of relief.
“UHHHHH!” KinZu screamed as she slammed her car door, furious and upset.
The driver side window of her Karma Fisker rattled upon impact, but she didn’t give a damn. No one was paying her any mind, but she felt as if the entire world had their eyes on her. The harsh reality of her fucked up life bit her in the ass like a blood sucking mosquito.
The clients, the late nights, the flights, the galas, the balls, the janitorial closets, the account transfers, the fraud affairs, and arranged encounters were all direct effects of the hurting that Johnathan had bestowed on a younger KinZu. He turned her cold… so cold that she’d never return. For his mistakes, every man had to pay.
Ramming her hand into the steering wheel, she refused to mask her anger. The fuel to her fire had given way for the mass combustion of emotions. KinZu just wanted to be over it, to be over everything that she’d suffered through, but until then she’d make these motherfuckers suffer with her. Wiping her face of the salty liquid that had poured from her eyes, she started her engine, keyless, and reversed her car.
Sound wasn’t present as she drove to the lonely hills. Her home was in a secluded subdivision were only five other homes were near. The rural area was off limits to the city’s thugs and low lives. The most prestigious in Philly resided in the space that KinZu claimed as her community. Children were absent, and so was life. It was beautiful, but it was dead as fuck in the boonies. Strangely, she preferred it that way.
Slamming her car door for the second time within the hour, KinZu stormed through her garage. Luckily the sun was still peeking, so she was able fetch her keys and place them in the correct hole to gain access to her home. The sweet smell of pumpkin spice welcomed her into her adobe. The Glade plugins kept her sane on days that had tried, relentlessly, to drive her insane.
KinZu ran for her bedroom, kicking off her shoes before stepping onto her plush white mink flooring, which was throughout her entire house. The only areas protected from the heap of softness was the kitchen, laundry room, and bathrooms. It was the winter, and KinZu was forever cold. During the winters, she preferred the mink flooring over the marble that laid beneath. Once the heat began to kick in, she’d have it taken up and stored for the year to come.
Reaching behind her restroom door, she pulled down her silk robe. She threw it onto her bed before reaching down and pulling her dress up. With a few tugs and pulls, she finally got it all the way over her head. Tossing it into her bin, KinZu picked up her robe before pulling it over her shoulders. She felt relieved, slightly.
Pushing her feet into the furry slippers that sat at the foot of her bed, she ran to the mini wine cooler that was located in the corner of her enormous bedroom. Pulling out a bottle of Stella Rose Black, she ditched the thought of pouring it into a glass. KinZu grabbed the cork screw and popped the top. With a bit of lifting and a lot of twisting, she finally set her beverage free. KinZu turned it up, immediately, and took a long swig.
“Ummm…” she hummed after lowering the bottle.
She turned towards her door, and headed back down the stairs. If it wasn’t bedtime, then her living room was her space. Tonight would be a long night, so she headed to her favorite spot on the couch. Digging into the pocket on her robe, she pulled out her cellphone, and dialed up the very first number in her contacts –being that there were only five listed. The phone rung before the angelic voice picked up the other line.
“KinZu!” Reed screamed in her ear. “I miss you!”
