Not Just My Heart

by Em Taylor

  “That’s my job,” I rasped.

“Like I said, hurry the fuck up.”

My lips were on hers before my mind had the chance to catch up with my body. I lifted her by the arse against the wall, cradling her head and back with one arm while holding her up with the other. Even in my lust-filled craze I knew to protect her from physical harm.

She reached between us and pushed my cock inside her. I fucked her hard and fast against the Hilton room shower wall, holding my own orgasm off until she cried out.

Letting the memory of her dripping wet and pleasuring herself for me tip me over the edge, I tensed and came with a guttural roar as my vision blurred. I didn’t give a fuck how many other hotel guests heard me.

Once my ability to see returned, I grabbed some shower gel and washed Lacey. I made sure the conditioner was rinsed from her hair and stepped out of the shower first to hold up a big fluffy towel to wrap her in.

She walked into it, and I pressed a kiss to her temple.

  “Are you okay?” I asked.

  “Yes.”

  “Was I too rough?”

She frowned. “Not at all. You know we’ve only got about ten minutes now, don’t you?”

  “Yeah. I can be quick.”

“I’ll tie my hair back in a ponytail and dry it when I get home.”

WE GOT DOWNSTAIRS AND checked out a few minutes late, but the receptionist smiled and waved away Lacey’s apology. We were passing some sofas near the main door of the hotel when an unmistakeable voice filled the lobby.

“Lacey. Good grief. What have I told you about going out with wet hair?”

Lacey put her “Surprise!” smile on and turned to where the voice had come from. Maureen stood frowning at me.

“Hi Mum. Are you and Dad heading home?”

“Yes. Jonas is coming home too as the schools are off. He’s bringing someone home this week. A man.”

  “Simon?”

Maureen folded her arms over her chest and frowned. “You know about Simon?”

Lacey glanced around. I wasn’t sure if she was hoping for Jonas to appear or a magic escape hatch. “I know he’s been seeing him.”

  “So you know ...”

Lacey rolled her eyes and huffed. “Mum, Jonas told you he’s gay when he was seventeen.”

“I know, but he never brought anyone home.”

“He’s never had a long-term relationship that I know of.”

Maureen waved a dismissive hand in my direction. “I guess since you brought him home at nineteen, I was always braced for Jonas to bring someone home. When he never did, I thought maybe I dodged the broken heart bullet with my son.”

Ouch. She knew how to stick the knife in.

“Mum, about me and Rory ...” Lacey glanced at me and then squared her shoulders before facing her mum again.

“I have nothing to say about him or to him. I can never trust him again.”

“Mrs Kendrick,” I began. It was time to try to mend the fences.

I started forward but Maureen Kendrick’s seething glare stopped me mid-step.

“No. You’re worthless. You always were and you always will be.”

“Mum, that’s horrible!” Lacey shook her head, her lips parted as her mother turned on her heel and strode away.

I swallowed a lump in my throat. At the age of eight I had been caught stealing six bread rolls, a pack of butter, and a pack of sliced ham from a minimart so I could make myself lunch for school. The owner spent twenty minutes berating me for stealing, not even realising I was stealing food instead of cigarettes, alcohol, or sweets. She’d called me worthless. And now, the only person I’d ever seen as a mother figure had called me worthless too.

Perhaps she was right. I wasn’t good enough for Lacey. Love wasn’t enough—not when her parents hated me so much.

“Don’t you dare take that from her,” came a voice from behind us.

“Jonas?” Lacey swivelled round, and I rolled my eyes.

Jonas stepped into my eyeline. “You caused a lot of hurt when you broke up with Big, but it’s the past. I can tell you love her—I could see it in your eyes last night. For God’s sake, man, grow some balls and come up to Glencoe with Lacey. She’s supposed to be coming up tomorrow, and I hope she still is. Simon and I need a buffer.”

I scowled. “They fucking hate me.”

Jonas shook his head. “Nah, they don’t. If they hated you, they wouldn’t still be carrying a grudge and acting like this. They loved you—they still do. They think of you like a son who turned his back on his family.”

“I don’t know.” I slipped my hand around Lacey’s waist. “What do you think, babe?”

“Maybe if we don’t stay at Mum and Dad’s?”

“It’s the Easter holidays. Glencoe will be jam-packed with tourists,” Jonas said.

She narrowed her gaze. “Wasn’t Anthony McNab’s parents opening wigwams this season?”

  “In May, I think.”

She scrolled through her phone contacts and hit dial. “Hey Mrs McNab, it’s Lacey Kendrick here ... Yeah, nice to speak to you too ... I have a weird request. Are your wigwams up yet? ... Mmmhmm ... It’s just me and my boyfriend need a place to stay. I can’t stay at my parents’ place, and you know Glencoe will be packed. I know you’re not meant to be open, but would you rent us a wigwam?”

There was a long pause, and Lacey kept nodding her head. I gritted my teeth. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I wanted Mrs McNab to say yes or no.

  “Well?” I whispered.

She placed her index finger on her lips.

I glared at Jonas as if he was responsible for his sister’s actions.

“Yes, that would be marvellous. You’re a star. We’ll be there tomorrow, if that’s all right?” Lacey said.

She hung up the phone and smiled at me.

I frowned. “Wait. Anthony McNab. He was the guy you went out with in secondary school.”

  She nodded. “Yeah. Briefly.”

  “Lacey—”

“For fuck’s sake, Rory. It’s a small place. It’s inevitable I would go out with someone I’ll run into every now and then.”

Jealousy burned through me like acid. “You kissed him.”

“And now I’m doing a lot more than kissing you, sweetie.” She patted me on the cheek and turned on her heel. Her tone had been condescending, and I looked to Jonas for backup. He shrugged.

“You’re better looking by a long shot. I can assure you.” Jonas grinned, and patted me on the back.

  “Really?”

“Yeah, and you have more style. Plus, I prefer you as a big brother. Tony McNab is a bit of a douche. She found that out when she found him kissing some tramp behind the local shop one night.”

“He didn’t break her heart,” I pointed out.

“He did. In a sixteen-year-old, heart-breaking way. It was sad to watch.”

“Did you try to kick his arse?”

“I let down the tyres on his bike.”

I high-fived him and we said our goodbyes, promising to meet at the Kendrick’s house the next evening.

WE WERE IN ONE OF THE wooded sections part way up Loch Lomond, when Lacey ordered me to pull off the road into one of the parking places. The weather was crappy. Drizzling and grey which was fine if we stayed in the car, but it made for a disinteresting journey without all the sights. The low-hanging clouds obscured the top of Ben Lomond, the mountain on the other side of the loch.

“You okay?” I asked, swivelling on my seat to look at her. We hadn’t slept until late the night before, which was why I opted to drive. My Audi was also bigger than her Mini, making for a more comfortable journey.

“Yeah. Let’s take a walk.” She slid her hand up my thigh and ran her tongue over her lips to wet them.

  “Sure.”

She stepped out the car and rounded it to pop the boot open and grab a spare jacket.

“What’s that for?” I furrowed my brow. She already had on a waterproof.

  “You’ll see.”

I raised an eyebrow, yet I knew from experience not to question Lacey too much when she was on a roll.

She grabbed my hand and tramped through the woodland near the loch. We weaved through trees randomly, not following any path underfoot. The noise of cars from the main road turned into a low swish every so often, and Lacey stopped. Backing me up against a tree, she demanded, “Kiss me.”

I swept the area with my gaze. With no one in sight, I cupped her cheeks and delicately brushed my lips over hers. She tasted of the lemon sweets I kept in the car for long journeys.

“Rory!” she murmured against my lips, tugging at the back of my head. I relaxed and Lacey pushed her tongue into my mouth, deepening the kiss. I moved my hands down over her arse and she pressed herself against me. Although there were jackets, sweaters, jeans, and underwear between us, my body reacted. I broke the kiss and ran my tongue along her jaw, inhaling the scent of damp hair mingling with her perfume. The crotch of my jeans was far too tight.

I leaned my head against the tree, panting as she moved her hand up and down the zip of my fly. “You’re trying to drive me insane, right? You’re making me hard.”

She dropped the extra jacket she’d brought on the ground and knelt in front of me. Staring up at me, a mischievous glint sparkled in her eyes. “That was the point.”

When she reached up and started undoing the buckle of my belt, I covered her hands with mine. “Lace, I appreciate the sentiment, but we’re outside.”

“It’s not a dark alley in Glasgow. We’re miles from anywhere. I brought you far into the trees for a reason.”

“What if someone else stops here?”

She rolled her eyes and batted my hand away to continue undoing my jeans. “It’s a tiny parking place. No other car will be able to stop there because I made sure you parked right in the middle of it.”

“I can’t let you give me a blow job without giving you an orgasm in return.”

“Of course you can.” She smiled. “Please, Rory. Stop making this so hard.”

I glanced down as she pulled my cock out of my jeans and boxers and began to stroke. “It’s you making it hard, sunshine.”

  She snickered.

I was about to protest again, but she took me into her mouth, and any resistance I may have put up left. I rested my head back against the tree and pushed my hips forward. If Lacey Kendrick wanted to give me head by the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, who the fuck was I to complain?

She took me deep, gagging slightly but working my cock hard. I pushed down her hood to wrap my fingers in her hair, but she made a disgruntled sound and tugged it back up.

I chuckled. It seemed she was willing to suck me off like a champ, but not willing to get her hair wet in the process. Women. Who was I to understand them?

Placing my hands over her hood, I guided her. Even though she was completely clothed and giving me head in the drizzling rain in one of Scotland’s beauty spots, the sight was fucking hot. It didn’t get more perfect.

Fuck me. I was in heaven. No woman had got me so far down her throat before, and I was scared to move in case I choked her.

When she pulled back, I started thrusting, holding her head and watching for any signs of discomfort. Her warm wet mouth was nirvana, and I could have stayed like that forever. However, my balls tightened and a tingle formed in the base of my spine.

“Gonna come,” I managed. Much though I wanted to come in her mouth, I’d give her the option to move away if she wanted.

My little trooper stayed in place, stroking and sucking my cock as it spurted its load into her willing mouth. As I took over stroking my cock, she knelt back accepting the offering as I finished squeezing the last drops onto her outstretched tongue.

Some of my cum dripped down her chin. I leaned down and removed it with my finger, popping it in my mouth, then using the same finger to close her mouth before pressing my lips to hers.

“Best blow job ever,” I murmured against her.

She sat further back on her heels and scowled. “My previous ones were inferior?”

  Shit.

“Your previous ones were perfect, but you seem to have done the impossible and topped perfection.”

A slow smile spread across her face and her pose relaxed. “You always were a smooth talker, Rory Thompson.”

“You always were the best girlfriend.” I tucked myself back into my clothing and helped her up, grabbing her spare jacket off the ground as I did so. It was my turn to push her against the tree. “Have I told you I love you?”

  “You have.”

  “Let me show you.”

  “No, Rory.”

I dropped the hand I was lifting to touch her and backed away as if slapped.

She threw her gaze to the sky. “Jesus, don’t look like a puppy I just kicked. Come on. We have somewhere to be.”

I wrapped my arm around her shoulders, pulling her tight into my side and walking back towards the car.

Lacey glanced up at me. “Do you remember our first trip to visit my parents?”

“Too right. I was packing it. I reckoned they wouldn’t think I was good enough for their little girl.”

“But do you remember in the car? We spoke about our feelings for the first time?”

I thought back. That was the first time Lacey told me she loved me, and it had given me the confidence to reciprocate. I had known I was head over heels for months before that, but I’d always been too chicken to say it. Nevertheless, my girl’s bravery had helped me say what I felt.

  “I do.”

“You seem to be the braver one this time around, Rory.”

I tightened my grip on her shoulders and pulled her closer. “It’s not a competition. I hurt you.”

“And you keep stopping me whenever I get close to getting you off in my mouth. I just wanted to show you.”

“That’s why you won’t let me reciprocate this time? You think if it’s an altruistic gesture it shows me how you feel?”

  “I guess.”

I sighed and wrapped my other arm around her, holding her against me and drawing us to a stop while enjoying the coolness of the rain on my cheeks. “Lacey, baby, you never need to prove anything to me. Don’t get me wrong, that was fucking hot and I totally appreciate it. But I can wait for you to tell me how you feel.”

  She nodded against me.

“By the way, the next time we spend a night apart, I’ll be wanking to the memory of your hooded head bobbing up and down my dick. Who knew an anorak was sexier than see-through underwear? You’ve given me a new fetish.”

She giggled, and I let go of her with one arm and urged her to start walking before my cock got any more ideas.

Once back in the car, she rested her head on the seat and looked at me. “Does it make me a skank that I gave you a blow job in the woods?”

“No. It makes you a great girlfriend. Now let me get you off and then we can be on our merry way.”

  “Here?”

“No one’s going to see us do more than kissing if I’ve got my hand down your jeans.”

She bit her lip, but she was smiling. “Okay then.”

  Chapter 22

  Lacey

“THIS IS YOUR HOME, Lacey. You should stay here with us,” Mum said again.

“Have you changed your mind? Is Rory welcome to stay ... in my room?”

Mum looked away and stared at the blank wall, gritting her teeth. “No. This is my house and my rules.”

“Which is why I won’t be staying if my boyfriend is not welcome.”

“Fine. Be like that.” She stared at me, her nostrils flaring. “Don’t come crying to us when it all ends in tears again.”

“You’re so sure it will. You never have faith in my choices,” I spat back. “I’ll always be a four-year-old who can’t make her own decisions.”

I knew I sounded like a brat, but I didn’t care. She was the one being disrespectful; I had chosen Rory, and it was none of he
r business who I spent my life with.

Spend my life with? Was that really the way I was thinking?

I did love him—even if I couldn’t say it out loud yet.

I hurried into the living room to check on Rory. He was with Dad, Jonas, and Simon, so I wasn’t too worried.

“Remember Dad used to check your tyres when you got your first car. Every time,” Jonas said, chuckling, as he looked at Rory.

“Would rather slash them now,” my dad muttered. “I mean an Audi. Could you find a more pretentious car?”

“Really?” I interjected. “Is this how you treat my guest? Snide comments.”

  Dad looked up and shrugged.

Rory rose to his feet. He placed his hands on my hips and pressed a kiss to my forehead. “I’m going to shoot off. Jonas will walk you back to the wigwam. It will give you time with your parents.”

“No, Rory. They can be grown-ups. I’ve never seen them so impolite.” I shot a look of daggers at my father. I was disappointed in my parents; it made me feel sick.

He led me out into the hall and kept his voice low so no one could overhear. “Stay a while. I don’t want to be seen as the one driving a wedge between you and your parents. If I go and you come with me, then I’m taking their daughter away from them. Stay for me. You can always plead my case if you want to.”

He pressed a hard kiss to my lips. I could tell he wanted more—he was frustrated, and he liked fucking the frustration away—but I stepped back and nodded.

  “One hour,” I promised him.

“Take all the time you need.”

I stood at the open door as he left the house, bending down to press a kiss to my lips when he passed. He set off along the road, his shoulders slumped and his head down. Finding a stone, he kicked it along the road in front of him.

Somehow, I needed to make things right, I just didn’t know how.

I closed the door and walked back into my parents’ living room to find a cup of coffee steaming in front of an empty seat. My mum had joined the men.

“The truth is, Lacey, your dad and I think you’re making a terrible mistake taking back up with Rory. He’s unreliable.” Mum leaned forward and picked up a shortbread stick and pointed it in my direction. “It’s not his fault. The poor boy had such a bad upbringing. It’s bound to have an impact on his adult relationships.”
