Revenge : His Mysterious Werecat Page 12

by Layla Colquhoun

In addition to the recliner I was sitting in, there was a full couch and a matching loveseat that were also covered with black leather. There was a decent sized round coffee table in front of the couch, and there were small tables on each side of the couch. Both of the small side tables had matching lamps sitting on top of them, and above me hung a chandelier that casted a dim light over everything.

It wasn't long before Lance and Kyle joined me in the living room, then we all sat in an uncomfortable silence for several minutes. When I couldn't take the silence any longer, I glanced over at the guys who were sitting on opposite ends of the couch, then I nonchalantly stated, "I don't know about you guys, but I'm famished. What do you have to eat around here?"

Kyle flashed me a smile and cheerfully replied, "We have everything here. What would you like, mate?"

I thought about it for a second, then I curiously asked, "Do you have any tuna or salmon?"

Kyle immediately scrunched up his nose, as he responded, "We do, but are you sure you wouldn't rather have steak or ribs?"

"I'm sure. I'll have tuna," I responded to Kyle, then I looked at Lance and thoughtfully asked, "What would you like to eat?"

"Tuna sounds amazing. Thanks for asking," he politely answered with a smile playing on his lips.

"Alright, tuna sandwiches it is," Kyle nonchalantly stated, as he stood up from the couch, then he walked to the kitchen.

Right away, I got up from the recliner, then I rushed over to Lance and plopped down on his lap. He was quick to wrap his arms around me, then he whispered in my ear, "This is kind of fun. He really doesn't seem like that bad of a guy."

"I agree, but looks can be deceiving, and I still don't trust him," I whispered in response.

I stayed sitting on Lance's lap and snuggled against his chest, while I waited for Kyle to return with our food. It was nice to have a few minutes alone with Lance, and I could feel my body relax, as we snuggled together.

When Kyle returned carrying two plates of food, I flashed him a small smile and mumbled, "Thanks," as I took my plate from him. After that, Kyle walked back to the kitchen, then he returned a few seconds later with his own plate of food.

He sat on the other side of the couch, then he patted the middle seat and nonchalantly asked, "Celeste, why don't sit here, then we can both be close to you?"

I rolled my eyes at him, then I scooted off Lance's lap to the middle. Right away, both of my mates scooted as close to me as they could, and that made me tense back up.

There was an awkward silence hanging over us, as we ate, but I was too focused on my food to care. As soon as I finished eating, I leaned against Lance and tiredly mumbled, "Mate, I need a nap."

"Where do you want to lay down?" he immediately asked.

"I don't care, as long as you are laying down with me," I groggily mumbled in response.

Lance was quick to set our plates on the coffee table, then he scooped me into his arms and nonchalantly stated, "It's our naptime. Please don't bother us while we're sleeping. We can be quite unpredictable when awakened from our slumber."

Kyle just shrugged his shoulders and continued eating his food, which was fine with me, since it wouldn't have mattered if he tried to object. When we had our minds set on sleeping, there was no stopping us werecats from doing just that.

Lance carried me to Kyle's bedroom, then he gently laid me down on the huge king sized bed. After that, he locked the bedroom door, then he joined me on the bed.

I was quick to snuggle against him, and he was quick to wrap his arms around me and snuggle back. Right away, I fell asleep in my mate's loving arms and very much enjoyed the peaceful nap.

  Kyle POV

It felt so good to finally kiss my mysterious mate, and I couldn't wait for her to let me kiss her again. I was determined to show her that I could be as good of a mate as her werecat mate, then hopefully she would let me mark her.

When she asked about food, I wasted no time making all of us sandwiches. I made their sandwiches with tuna fish, since that's what they requested. However, I made my sandwich with ham and cheese, then we sat together on the couch and ate.

I was surprised when I heard Celeste tell Lance that she needed a nap, since it was still early in the day, but Lance didn't seem the least bit surprised, which made me wonder if that was a normal thing. I didn't know hardly anything about werecats, and I was feeling a bit confused about how to handle the whole situation.

After Lance carried Celeste to my bedroom, I heard him lock the door, and I knew there was no point in trying to get in there with them. I finished eating my sandwich, then I cleaned up the mess from lunch, before I headed to the library to do some research on the werecat species.

I found several books that had a significant amount of information, but I didn't want to read through them at the library, so I took the books with me back to my suite. Once I got there, I scattered the books on my coffee table, then I sat back on the couch and started reading through the one that appeared to have the most beneficial information.

I learned a lot about my mysterious mate over the next few hours, and I felt more confident about how to handle the situation moving forward. I knew I was no match for either of them, so I needed to keep my cool, and not start any fights with them. Alpha or not, they were faster, stronger, and more agile than I could ever hope to be.

  Chapter 22

  Jungle Attire

  Celeste POV

When we woke up from our nap, we stayed in Kyle's bed and talked for awhile. I loved Lance too much to not be completely honest with him about how I was feeling, so I sheepishly admitted, "For some strange reason, I enjoyed the kiss I shared with Kyle."

Lance scrunched up his nose for a second, before he timidly replied, "I could tell, and no, I'm not mad about it. He is your mate, and it's natural for you to feel that way about him. I just worry that you will decide to be his mate instead of mine."

I gazed straight in his gorgeous ocean blue eyes and adamantly stated, "That will never happen, Lance. I love you and only you. I don't want to be his mate. He had his chance when I was Alana, and he blew it."

"Sweetie, that's all I needed to hear for reassurance. I love you, Celeste, and I know you will have to kiss Kyle again. I completely understand why, so you can stop worrying about it," he thoughtfully replied with a small smile playing on his lips.

"I'm so glad you are such an understanding mate. Most mates would be freaking out about this," I cheekily admitted and earned a chuckle from Lance.

We talked for a little longer, then we climbed off the bed and walked back to the living room. Kyle was sitting on the couch with his nose in a book, and I could help but to giggle at the sight of him reading a textbook. He never did that at school. so I figured whatever he was reading must be important.

As soon as I got close enough to read the title of the textbook, a smile formed on my face. He was reading about werecats, and he looked like he was content to keep reading. However, the second he caught my scent in the air, his eyes snapped from the book to mine, then he flashed me a smile, as he cheerfully asked, "Did you enjoy your nap, mate?"

"I did. Thank you for asking," I politely answered, then I walked over to the recliner and plopped down on it.

Lance sat down on the couch and glanced at the textbooks scattered all over the coffee table, then he nonchalantly stated, "If you want to know more about our species, all you have to do is ask."

Kyle scratched the back of his head, as he sheepishly replied, "No offense, but I don't know if I can trust either of you yet, so I figured I would do a little research on my own."

Lance chuckled for a few seconds, before he flashed a smile at Kyle and remarked, " I can respect your honesty."

Kyle just shrugged his shoulders, then he went back to reading the book in his hands. Lance looked over at me and winked, before he nonchalantly asked, "Do you want to explore this territory with me?"

  Instantly, Kyle deadpanned, "Absolutely not."

  I na
rrowed my eyes at him and defiantly asked, "Why the hell not?"

"Because I have not introduced you to the pack, and I don't want any problems," he nonchalantly stated.

"Well, you need to get on that," I sassily retorted.

"We are having dinner with the pack later. I will introduce you both to everybody then," he grumbled in frustration, then he went back to reading his book.

I directed my attention to Lance, then I flashed him a sly smile and eagerly suggested, "We should take a shower. I'm bored and I feel gross."

"Same," he agreed with a serious look on his face.

I jumped up from the chair, then I skipped over to Lance and grabbed his hand. Lance dipped his head down and pecked a kiss on my cheek, then we walked back to Kyle's bedroom. He had an awesome stand alone shower, and I was excited to check to it out.

I wasted no time removing my clothes, while Lance got the water going, then I stepped under the cascading flow of water. The water pressure was amazing, and the hot water quickly brought relief to my tensed up muscles. Not to mention, it was cleaning any dirt and sweat off of me.

As soon as Lance stepped under the water with me, he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me against him, then he released a sigh of content. I was quick to wrap my arms around him, then I laid my face against his chest and enjoyed the closeness we were sharing.

After a few minutes of enjoying my sweet mate's loving embrace, I pulled away from him and started washing my hair. Once we were finished getting clean, we got out of the shower and wrapped towels around our bodies, then we walked back to the living room, where our bags were.

I could see Kyle out of the corner of my eye, and there was no mistaking the way his eyes darkened with lust, as he watched me walk in front of him with nothing but a towel covering my body. I made it a point to act like I didn't see the way he was gawking at me, while I grabbed my bag, then I headed right back to his bedroom.

I was honestly kind of shocked that he didn't try to join us in the shower, or follow us back to his room to watch me get dressed. In a way, I appreciated the fact that he was giving me some space, and not being one of those overbearing, possessive mates like most Alphas.

After Lance shut and locked the bedroom door, I let the towel drop to the floor, then I pulled out one of my outfits that I got from the Jungle Pack. It looked like something you would see a woman who lives in the jungle wear, and I would be getting a lot of dirty looks from the shewolves in the pack, but I didn't care.

I looked damn good in the outfit, and I was determined to be me, and not let their opinions change how I felt about myself, like I did when I was Alana. I proudly tied the strings to the crop top type of shirt, then I pulled on the short skirt that went with it. The whole outfit was an earthy brown color, and only covered a small amount of my curvy body.

Once I was dressed, I walked into the bathroom and ran my brush through my long burgundy hair, then I teased my hair a little using my fingers. When I was satisfied with my hair, I walked back to the bedroom to find Lance standing there wearing a similar type of outfit that was designed for men. I knew right away that it was one of the ones he got from the Jungle Pack, and that instantly brought a smile to my face.

I walked over to him, then I leaned up on my tiptoes and pecked a kiss on his lips, before I cheerfully stated, "You are looking good enough to lick, mate."

Lance chuckled at me, then he huskily remarked, "You are looking quite sexy yourself."

I flashed him a smirk, as I confidently stated, "I know, but thanks for the compliment."

He shook his head at me, then he curiously asked, "Are you ready for this dinner?"

"I'm as ready as I'm gonna be," I nonchalantly responded, as I headed for the door, then Lance followed right behind me, as I walked to the living room. When I got there, I sat down on the couch beside Kyle and curiously asked, "What's for dinner tonight?"

Kyle looked over at me, then his eyes widened in surprised. After those ice blue eyes of his gazed over the length of my entire body, he narrowed his eyes and demanded, "Go change into something more appropriate. I can't introduce you to my pack dressed like that."

  "No," I deadpanned.

"Now, Celeste. This is not up for negotiation," he grumbled in frustration.

"You are right about it not being up for negotiation. I'm not changing. This is what I am most comfortable wearing, and this is what I usually wear, so you're just gonna have to get the hell over it," I angrily retorted.

Kyle growled at me, then he abruptly stood up and grumbled, "Whatever, your highness." After that, he stalked to his bedroom and slammed the door shut.

Lance and I exchanged amused looks, then we burst into a fit of laughter. Kyle reacted exactly how I expected, but I wasn't going to change, just because he told me to. I liked the outfit I was wearing, and that's all that mattered to me. I couldn't care less what the others thought about it, and that included Kyle's thoughts on the matter. If Lance had asked me to change, I probably would have, but he would have asked instead of demanding.

Kyle didn't come back from his room right away, so Lance and I ended up in a passionate make-out session, while we waited for his return. I was straddling Lance's lap and thoroughly exploring his mouth with my tongue, when I heard Kyle clear his throat behind us.

I kissed Lance for a few more seconds, then I pulled my lips away from his and left a bridge of saliva between us. Instead of looking over at Kyle, I rested my forehead against Lance's forehead and affectionately murmured, "I could kiss you all day long, and not think twice about it."

"I feel the same way, sweetie. There is no such thing, as too many kisses, when it comes to these amazing lips of yours," Lance huskily mumbled in response.

  Chapter 23

  Meeting the Pack

  Kyle POV

I couldn't believe Celeste was going to meet my pack members wearing next to nothing. She looked like a woman who lived in the damn jungle, and I was not happy about it. My pack house was not a jungle. She could at least dress in a respectful way around my pack members.

I could feel my temper flaring up, so I left her sitting in the living room with her other mate, while I took a shower. The hot water felt good against my sore muscles, but I was still seething with anger, when I got out of the shower.

As I got dressed in a nice pair of black slacks and a nice light blue dress shirt, I thought to myself, just because she wants to look like a jungle person doesn't mean I have to. At least one of us will look respectable.

To add to my growing anger, I walked back to the living room to find Celeste in a heated make-out session with her other mate. She was straddling his lap, and she had her tongue buried in his mouth, while her fingers gripped his hair and his hands gripped her butt.

It took everything I had not to yank her off his lap, but I kept control of my temper, and simply cleared my throat instead. I wasn't the least bit surprised when she continued to kiss him a little longer, then she rested her forehead against his and affectionately murmured, "I could kiss you all day long, and not think twice about it."

"I feel the same way, sweetie. There is no such thing as too many kisses, when it comes to these amazing lips of yours," he huskily mumbled in response.

It was all getting to be too much for me already, and I wasn't sure if I was gonna be able to handle sharing her. I wanted to be the one that she said sweet things to and shared sweet kisses with.

When she finally climbed off of his lap, she flashed me a sly smirk and asked, "Is it dinner time?"

"Yep," was all I said in response, then I turn on my heel and stalked toward the front door of my suite.

As soon as I reached the door, I flung it open, then I glanced back to make sure they were following me. Once I confirmed they were, I continued walking toward the stairs. The whole way there, Celeste and Lance were talking to each other in hushed voices, and occasionally they would start chuckling.

I tried to ignore them as much as possible and quickly made my wa
y to the dining hall, then I stood by the entrance and waited for them to catch up. Once they reached me, I grabbed ahold of Celeste's hand and pulled her into the dining hall with me.

Instantly, the large room fell silent, as my pack members all focused their attention on my werecat mate. I could see many of the male's eyes darken with lust right away, and I was not at all pleased about it. I wanted to gauge out their eyes on the spot, but I knew I couldn't do that without there being some major ramifications.

I led Celeste to the head of the table, then I cleared my throat and used my Alpha voice to authoritatively state, "Pack members of the Great Forest Pack, I am pleased to introduce you all to my mate and your future Luna, Celeste. However, I am not her only mate. Our Luna has two mates. Not only that, she is a werecat, and her other mate is also a werecat."

Instantly, the dining hall filled with protests and complaints about Celeste being a werecat. I was a little stunned by my pack member's reaction, but it wasn't long before I became angry. I glared around the table, then I roared, "Silence! None of this is up to any of you. She is my mate, and I am your Alpha. You will not cause Celeste or her other mate, Lance, any problems, and if you do, there will be severe punishments handed out!"

The room fell silent again, and that's when Celeste decided to confidently inform them, "My name is Celeste Carlisle, and this is my werecat mate, Lance Chesterfield. We are a peaceful species, and we don't want any problems with any of you. As long as you show us respect, we will show you the same, but if you cause us problems, you will not like our reaction."

Nobody in the large room made any type of noise in response, so I nonchalantly stated, "We haven't fully come to an agreement on how this is all going to work, but your safety and wellbeing is still my number one priority. Rest assured that nothing will change that."

After that, we all sat down and ate dinner together. It was one of the quietest meals I had ever had at the pack house, and I was actually relieved about that. I couldn't deal with much more, since I was already almost at my breaking point.
