Someday, Somehow

  He freezes for a moment.

“Kiss me, Beltran,” I say. “Kiss me like you mean everything you just said.”

He kisses me slowly, this time, but just as desperately. He kisses me like the entire universe is on my lips; like everything begins and ends with us. He kisses me with the passion of the boy I first liked, the loyalty of the guy I once loved, and the courage of the man I always knew he was.

  It’s everything.

  He’s everything I imagined.

  And everything I’ll ever need.

Our foreheads rest against each other as we catch our breath.

“Take me home, Auggie,” I whisper, staring lovingly into his eyes. “Take me home, and never let me go.”

When we arrive home, my head spins as fast as my heart pounds.

Once we’re in his room he asks, “Are you sure about this, Georgie-girl?”

His voice is so close to my ear it sends shivers down the side of my neck. God, I want his mouth against my throat. Kissing me. Licking me. Fucking me.

“Never been more sure about anything in my life,” I say.

He kisses me. This time with an intensity so beyond my wildest dreams. My nipples ache so bad with need. The need for his mouth and his hands. When his tongue traces my upper lip, I moan and slide my arms around his back to pull him even closer.

This heat between us is hotter than my wildest dreams and I’ve had many of them throughout the years.

His fingers slide across my cheek and into my hair. My heart kicks into a faster beat as he kisses me harder, deepening the kiss and drawing me closer to him. His taste, the feel of his hard muscles beneath my fingertips, and the scent of his body burn me from the inside out and sideways.

This kiss makes my knees weak. I’m thankful he’s holding me. He pushes me flat against the door and I moan. Yes, undress me I want to beg him, but I can’t speak. I forgot how to link the vowels with the consonants.

Suddenly, he stops and I freeze when his eyes meet mine. “I want to do so many things…but I don’t know where to start or what you like.”

“You,” I answer. “I like you. I love you.”

He dusts kisses on my neck and my collarbone. My stomach flips as his lips travel across, from shoulder to shoulder.

I moan as he presses his body closer to me and I feel his hard length against my belly. I groan, wishing he was inside me. His lips crush against mine, and I rub myself against his leg trying to get some relief. Wetness gathers between my legs. I’m dying to have him inside me, to finally feel what it is like to be loved by him.

“Auggie, please stop torturing me. Undress me, make me yours,” I beg him. “Bury your face between my legs. Make this ache go away.”

His hand goes down my jeans, he kisses me hard and I groan when his thumb finds my bud and his long finger enters my channel.

“You’re soaked, Georgie,” he mumbles, pulling down the spaghetti straps of my top with his other hand as he keeps pumping inside me.

  I shake.

The tension in my belly increasing, need flooding me as he sends me closer to the edge. The tension escalates. I grind faster against his hand, wishing it was his cock I was riding. A climax explodes inside my body as the fast strokes suddenly release everything I’ve been holding since last week, when he kissed me for the first time. I feel free and I cry with pleasure.

This is mind-blowing but not enough. Even as I float, I begin to rip his clothes off. I can’t wait any longer. Once he’s naked, I take a moment to look at his body and take him all in, including his long, thick, wide, and yummy length. I lick my lips. It’s better than my dreams.

“You’re gorgeous,” he says, then reaches for my waist and lifts me to the bed.

Once he sets me in the middle, he reaches for his nightstand and pauses. “I didn’t think this through.”

  “What?”

“Condoms, I haven’t bought any in years.”

We both laugh, I roll my eyes. “Seriously, Beltran. You’re no boy scout.”

“Never claimed to be one,” he replies. “We can do other things.”

“I’m clean,” I confess, there’s no point in telling him that even though Mario and I were supposed to marry we always used a condom. Or that we haven’t had sex since we left Europe. “And on the pill.”

“I’m clean too, always used a condom. Are you sure you want to…we can wait,” he offers.

“But I don’t want us to wait for this to happen. I want us to become one, to start our life together,” I respond and I meant it not only about this but everything.

We’ve wasted too many years of our lives dancing around each other. It’s time for us to finally be together—as close as possible.

He positions himself between my legs, his length right in my entrance, his gaze capturing mine.

“I love you,” he declares as he pushes himself slowly, inch by inch filling not only my body but my soul.

Once he’s all the way in, he slants his mouth against mine and stops. We’re motionless. Everything around us freezes and it’s just us. Our thoughts dissolving as we melt into each other. We move slowly, gently, softly. Our bodies dance at the rhythm of our own music. I inhale his scent, letting it roll over my skin.

As his thrusts become faster and deeper, I grasp his shoulders, holding on tight. I’m on fire, we burn. His room becomes an inferno of pleasure. Moans, groans, the sound of skin against skin. Being filled by him is completely and utterly glorious.

The intensity escalates. He’s lifting me high, higher and back every time he pulls out and pumps back inside me. Filling me, opening my body and my soul. The wave of ecstasy hits us both hard. He freezes for one moment, screaming my name. The fireworks shoot right above us, like thunder in the middle of the night, announcing the storm.

He groans, holding me tight, “I love you, Georgie-girl. Never leave me again.”

“Love you forever,” I sigh as we lie tangled up in each other.

“Is it too soon to ask you to marry me?” he says as he runs his fingers through my hair.

“Marry you?” I ask, confused. “We just—”

“We’ve been in love for years. We lived together for eight,” he explains. “I don’t think it’s too early to begin our lives together. To start our family, our future.”

“I should be annoyed,” I confess.

“Because I should’ve done it the day you graduated from college,” he offers.

I remember that night, and all the other nights when we sat outside stargazing. It was during those nights when I was falling in love with him. His words. His voice. His soul.

“Thousands of missed opportunities,” he continues. “We were in Paris. The city of love and I was just so relieved to have you back that I never thought that I had missed you because I loved you. If—”

I place my fingers on top of his lips and roll onto my belly, looking at him. “We can’t go back and fix the past. We both could’ve done many things right, but we didn’t and I’m glad because this journey made us what we are today. I don’t regret who I am and I am falling crazy in love with the man you have become.”

“Be mine forever, Georgia Angelina Jones,” he says.

  “Forever,” I repeat.

  Auggie

“Hey, beautiful,” I greet my wife when I enter Like Home.

“You came earlier than I thought,” she answers without losing a beat.

She’s writing on the board menu. Cooking is her passion, desserts her guilty pleasure but she loves to be the one preparing lunch for our customers—almost daily. During the last year, we’ve learned to balance our life with work.

  “What do you think?”

  Soup

  Salad

“It looks perfect. What do you want me to do?”

“The soup,” she says and looks at the bag I am carrying. “Did you bring what I asked for?”

I nod and hand her the box with the pregnancy test. My heart is thumping just as fast as it did last year when we got married. It was a small wedding, only family in my father’s backyard. A week after she had agreed to become my wife. It was beautiful, intimate and ours.

“We have time,” I say. “Do you want to use it now?”

She nods and we go to the office where the private bathroom is. I pace while she pees and pace some more after I set the timer for a minute. Cat’s son, Trevor, is adorable and every time we babysit him, George and I say the same, “We want a baby.”

“Stop,” she orders. “You’re making me nervous.”

“It’s going to be okay.” I try to be the voice of reason but how can I do it when this is all we want? A little one to complete our family.

The timer goes off and we glance at each other and then look at the test on top of the counter. The window reads pregnant.

“We’re going to have a baby,” she whispers, her eyes filling with moisture.

My arms are around her in just a few seconds. My mouth crushes against hers, tongue slipping out to tangle with hers. Melting into each other, body, mind, and soul. Our bodies move slowly to the same rhythm they’ve moved since the first night we fused together.

This is us, two souls who met each other by accident but have known each other for eternity. Forever isn’t a fairy tale, it’s our future because hers is the only heart that can love a heart like mine.

  Dear Reader,

I hope you loved Auggie and George’s story as much as I did.

Even when I’ve been on a romantic comedy kick this year, writing this book was a new and wonderful journey for me. It’s been so much fun to write books that differ from my norm and the norm of many other romance books.

Someday, Somehow is a slow burn romance that’s based on a couple of real life romances. Mine, since I borrowed a few traits from Mr. Burgoa to create Auggie. Fine, I stole—a lot.

He’s that sweet, clueless, focused man who sometimes can’t get a hint. Though our story wasn’t slow
