I had long conversations with Quim Español, Josep Maria Fonalleras, Pep Nadal and Arturo San Agustín on various aspects of the book while the manuscript was taking shape and I must thank them for their patience and comments. Andreu Pulido always gives me tons of good advice about language.

She and Berta Bruna were the first to see my travel notebooks with the original notes for the novel and the first to read the manuscript; they both threw themselves into it wholeheartedly.
