“That sounds like a load of crap,” Soren interjects. “I want to meet this spy.”
Dad looks at me again, almost as if he feels sorry for me. I don’t understand where his sentiment is coming from until I feel her presence nearby.
Realization hits me like a cannonball.
Slowly I turn, afraid to look at her and have my suspicions confirmed. But when I see her face, her guilt-stricken expression and the tear streaks down her cheeks, I know.
“You? You’re the Neo God spy?” Soren asks.
“Yes.” Her sightless eyes fix on my face. “I’m sorry, Stephan. So, so sorry.”
I shake my head, taking a step back. “No. I don’t believe this. No!”
“Son, like I said, not all Neo G—”
“I don’t want to hear it.”
With a brusque movement of my arm, I summon a powerful gust of wind, shattering the office window. Then I’m gone.
