“I know…” She came up behind him and rested her face against his back. He relished the warmth of her touch as she draped her arms around his waist. “I have no doubt you’ll be a great father, Paxton.”
“And I know you’ll be a great mom… the best.” He twisted out of her grip, faced her, and placed his lips softly against hers.
“Ma’am?”
“Oh shit, he’s waiting.”
“Yes! Here I come! Paxton, do you want cable in all the rooms or just the main ones?”
“Tell him to wire every room for it.”
“Okay. He’ll need to call for someone else to come out here then,” she said, and disappeared from the bedroom.
He walked back over to the crib and removed the red fidget spinner he’d used in their wedding from his pocket. He looked it over, then placed it on his unborn son’s pillow.
“Time for a fourth red dice, but for right now, this’ll do. It’s new, like you, son. You’re the future. You and your mother are my whole damn world. You both have made my life better than I could have ever imagined, and that’s a tall feat. This hard knock life told me to sink or swim. Instead I chose to try and walk on water.” Then he turned and left, a swell of love growing deep inside his heart…
