  That's because she rather misguidedly trusts me. If I drop just one little hint about what happened last night, she'll make sure she doesn't let you out of her sight until we're legally married.'

  'Am I really going to need that sort of close chaperoning?'

  'Oh, yes,' murmured Lewis. 'You are most definitely going to need it!'

  He bent his head, and his fierce kiss confirmed his words.

  A little breathless, Lorel gazed into his vivid blue eyes. 'You promised I could have two kisses,' she reminded him huskily.

  Lewis gave a faint groan. 'One was difficult enough. Two might turn out to be more than I can handle. How much will-power do you think I've got?'

  'You're quite safe,' Lorel told him. 'I can hear Maria's footsteps coming up the stairs. I'd say we've got about—oh, ten seconds before she gets here.'

  'Then I suppose we should make the most of them,' Lewis murmured, and proceeded to give Lorel ten of the most delicious seconds of her life.
